I think a good start with fixing dragon hunter and even guardian in general would to have a skill similar to ele’s skill that allows passive effects to continue but instead of signets allow guardians to have virtues passive effects continue.
Hi,
I tried the dragon hunter and the way the virtues worked imho was another way that makes the guardian less effective. I would suggest a different cool-down method or a way not to have to overlap the virtues trait line w/o losing the effectiveness of virtue recharge while the dragon hunter trait selected. i.e. virtue recharge 20% when dragon hunter selected.
thanks
SkiTz.4590,
I think we all understand what a bunker is and what is OP about the ele, that’s the point in this thread. Pick what you feel should be changed. IMHO I think it’s the sustain.
thanks
Hi,
Just like the title says, implement dishonor. I just got off 2 × 4v’s in a row.
I’d just like to add one additional thing. Please carry dishonor into the PVE realm , as in if you get dishonor you can only get basic rarity drops for a week , etc. or something similar.
Thanks
I agree with the poster
Hi,
One word can summarize what makes d/d way to strong : sustain
Fix the absolutely incredible ability to survive 2 x berserker or marauder , bail from the fight and come back a few seconds later ready to go.
Thanks
+1, agree
Thanks for the detailed review.
Hi,
I pretty much 99% of the time pvp and Revs need a bit of work.
In general the slow cast times , lack of stun breaks and lack of dps need improvement. Perhaps some instant cast skills , longer healing pellet times ( 5 secs to short) (maybe include a condition removal with them) and or longer stability / endurance recharge . It’s beta and I know they are not complete by any means so hopefully they will get some positive changes. Overall I gotta say I love the mechanics of the class.
thanks
D/D ele is amazing. You need some practice if your dying to classes 1v1.

Wow,
This Forum is probably the best of the worst cry fest in all the forum topics.
The biggest problem in PvP is " Call to the Mists" buff.
Stop your crying and go to LA…
It’s in Valor not Radiance.
Yeah it’s pretty good with MF.
corrected thanks
Hi,
I am talking about the valor adapt skill and not the utility.
- It’s a tough call between focus mastery and this at times.
-My initial thought is it is an ideal guardian skill. I found myself in the past burning off a smite condition utility, to say remove poison , and then heal. This all in one, removal / heal , is just brilliant. Well executed to whomever came up with this.
Any comments welcome.
thanks

hi, the specializations are little hard for me to follow, I prefer the roman numerals- I guess I like math more .
to me:
Specializations in the PvP Build Window to show all 5 trait lines with only 3 highlighted. The trait specialization order , to stay the same , as in pre-path , for e.g..
on Mesmer from top to bottom; dom ,dueling, chaos, ins., illusions. would all be in the “PvP Build specializations” window. Three of those are only highlighted at any time.
thanks, any thoughts?
To me it is interesting but if feels laggy. The 1/4 cast time is just an added nuisance.
any comments welcome.
thanks
Hi,
bunk version of guard feels pretty strong, I obviously haven’t fought many yet but thiefs seem to be the hardest to face atm.
If there was only an option on the skill itself to auto cast on caster, problem would be solved. ( like a small checkbox on the skill bar )
I’m sure most are aware of insta-casting in options but that’s to confusion when its not a shadow step away etc.
These changes really force players to use specific weapon sets instead of the ones they want. It really feels like a step backward and a more tunnel vision game style.
I ask all to just add one item that feels out of wack.
I’ll start with one and it’s certainly not even high on the list.
Why is glacial heart in virtues?
thanks
good work, thanks
IT would be perfectly fine to add a single target limiter so it doesnt get to insane in duels. But please leave the aoe asepct of it
I don’t think I’ve seen guardians running around dueling players with huge might stacks, it don’t happen, and if it does it’s very short lived.
In team fights it makes total sense to reward blocked attacks with might stacks. It is how the guard is supposed to be played.
“True guardians are brilliant tacticians and selfless defenders who know when to sacrifice their own defenses to empower their allies to achieve victory.”
As I said in another thread they really should make shattered AEGIS is minor and merge the other 2 minors.
As for what to put in the grand master slot, I’d love to see a personal quickness buff that proc’s on critical hits.
Something like
“Zealous Speed” Gain quickness when your critically hit. 4 second duration, 15-20 second cool down.
That would be good in pretty much any area of the game.
A trait related quickness buff would be great and deserve a grandmaster spot, I totally agree.
I hope they don’t. Or if they due, realize OP’s idea have flaws.
Non-Meta builds will get a nerf. Not to mention that you’ll give Guards higher fury uptime, further inbalancing the class.
As for Litany, lets not force Guardians to work around yet another stationary symbol. No ally is going to stay in the symbol in WvW or even PvP. Maybe i’m just bias and discourage symbols in general… but I just don’t want to further limit my mobility when I need to stay in a Symbol for heals.
It seems like the anet push here is to have any player jump on guard stand like a clueless bag of kitten and press random buttons to play or in other words dumb down the guardian . I hope I am wrong.
There are so many concerns pre-patch but my biggest two atm are;
1) ICDs
2) and to quote Buran, “I wasn’t fan to the changes due the new trait system would diminish the build variety”
There are some many other areas I look at and just quetion why, when so many other classes are getting huge buffs and we are getting nerfed.
Don’t know if there is any damage improvement, it was just a little way to finish off targets or help with spikes.
It was a master trait before. It appears that the guardian is getting even more nerfed to fight in close quarters and Shattered Aegis would synergize with Symbolic Avenger.
I’m not trying to get off the subject to much, all the changes and forced trait lines etc. is open to discussion elsewhere.
Hi,
I do not understand why Shattered Aegis was moved to Grandmaster, if anything it should be minor or master level.
Can you please move Shattered Aegis back to master level i.e. replace w/ Kindled Zeal(previously grandmaster) or swap with Wrathful Spirit (minor)
thanks
“3rd is to remove the internal Cooldown on the Trait Might of the Protector. I as a PvP Guardian always loved to get rewarded for blocking attacks and seeing that I get 2 Stacks of might no matter how much I block with Shelter is very frustrating. So please remove the internal Cooldown, even leave it as it was with only one Stack Might per block, but please remove the Cooldown”
This is so important ! All guardians need to
Spirit weapons are great sometimes, but in general they need more health or sustain to be viable.
Communal Defenses: Grant 5 seconds of aegis to allies when you block an attack
1) does any1 know if the cool down is changing ?
2) will it now effect the caster?
thanks
currently it’s a 20 sec icd and does not effect player casting it only allies
Why are you posting a complaint? don’t you know anet suppresses complaints with infractions. I advise you to review the code of conduct and follow it precisely .
I am only pointing things out please don’t ban me for my assistance to this newcomer thanks
I used to use Shelter on many small attack bursts, even if I had full health (preferably so) because i’ll get Shelter back later when i’m low and in need of a heal as well as another potential burn burst or might.
Now, there’ll be no reason to use Shelter on full health for just to 2 – 4 Might stacks or 1 – 2 burns. The playability/strategy will be removed.
Now.. i’m OK with a 1s icd as long as this is limited to per target rather than something global. That way i can still get 10 – 15 stacks of might in a zerg scenario. That would worth sacrificimg Shelter when i’m at full health to gain a boost in damage.
That’s a good trade off.
I think it is pretty obvious that its total blocks or what you call global . Any hard core guard can realize that your core gameplay has be castrated.
Please, don’t express how you feel if it might comes across as negative to Anet cause I don’t want any more infracted posts. This post has already been moved out of gameplay discussion. I apologize if I am to bold to sensitive ears.
thanks
agree…
I posted something similar in game discussion but it got moved here.
thanks
Oh good, meaningful “gamebalance” discussion tucked away back into the guardian forum where better understanding to the playerbase as a whole will never happen and instead we get to pat ourselves on the backs and shake hands and agree with our own class based bias……..
agree…
For the rest that just checked out the post, it was moved from “game discussion” . plenty of moderators but no input from anet
It’s like wow, once again.
thanks for your comments
i agree on the op. the nerf takes a bit of skillplay away. from both the guard (blocking at the right time) and the enemy (stowing weapons when the hit shelter instead of mindless spamming). the trait was also not super powerful. i mean it basically only had inpact on shelter
i dont understand why the nerf stuff like that, but i guess they wont change anything anyway. would be suprised if they even read this
It’s so odd. The amount of might we get now is not OP, it just makes the gameplay exciting for the maybe15 secs we might actually get a might stack with a well timed block. This really just dilutes the Guardian gameplay from skill to something else, same with the block/burn. It’s easy to look at a lot of other classes that can stack huge burns and huge might or other buffs and not try to stand up for the guardian.
thanks
Arioso,
Sorry man, you just don’t get it.
thanks
CMF, nicely put. The “thoughtful gameplay” is what I hate about the change. And I can’t agree with you more about , “Shelter tied with Might of the Protector was a prime example of good counter play”.
thanks
PS we’ll see about retal w/ the changes
I don’t play Guard, but that sounds like a really strong trait to me.
Does it proc on aegis too? If so, that sounds REALLY good.
If you only get 2-4 stacks with a single block… use more blocks?
Without an internal cooldown, you’d get 20 stacks of might off of a single incoming flamethrower AA or rapid fire, or any other “death by a 1000 paper-cuts” type multi-hit attack. That would be insanely strong.
Though, that’s assuming PvP balance. With the attack rate of AI in PvE that does sound a little more underwhelming, but your main point of it not being useful to punish combo spikes is also more of a PvP thing.
The only skill (currently) that a serious might stack could occur would be shelter, because it blocks all attacks – after changes four stacks max. All other guard skills only block 1 attack or SoW blocks 3 but effectively only give a couple might stacks or maybe more if very very lucky ( with changes ).
Shelter is a heal skill and the animation is pretty obvious and can be avoided so it’s used at a higher game play when more experienced players feel or see spikes coming. To me this really dumbs down the gameplay.
Funny an engy complaining about a guard when engy should well you know….
Did you actually read or understand what I said? If a perfect scenario I would get 10 stacks but that would be highly unlikely from blocks.
I would have to use 3 extremely important skills to get that. So think of your three best oh kitten skills and reply.
1) shelter , my heal skill 30 sec recharge ( oh, btw an engy can interrupt this )
2) shield of wrath, block 3 attacks, 45 sec cool down
3) Virtue of courage : around 80 sec cool down
You think that is OP? BTW retaliation is mostly useless but with upcoming changes depending on spec might be more effective
thanks
*Might of the Protector: Gain 2 stacks of might for 15 seconds when you block an attack. This ability has a 1 second internal cooldown
1 sec internal cooldown is totally lame, it doesnt reward experienced players that block chained attacks or timed spikes w/ shelter. Seriously 4 stacks of might at best w/ shelter, come on. Shield of wrath probably be 2-4 stacks at best. any other block 2 stacks of might, so if I chain shelter, SoR and one more block at best I get is 10 stacks which I can’t do for another 45 sec or so. This is just a bad change. It makes guardian gameplay much more lame and not fun.
added bonus thought:
“Litany of wrath” should be an insta-cast like all meditations, so obvious even long time ago . why change it to 1/4 sec , just go all the way and make it uniform.
thanks
Hi, during a rated pvp match my char was unable to move in Forest of Niflhel’ just off the cap point in mid. I believe I may have been immobilized prior to, negative conditions were cleared. I was able to type in chat so it was not the keyboard and after I sat and died by a mesmer I re-spawned and was able to move again.
hi,
just a couple suggestions,
1) all meditation skills instant
2) more health to spirit weaps.
thanks
Just like Heroes’ Ascent in gw1. If you are going to make groups , let them be of similar experience. It’s all about the frustration, A player with 1000+ games in pvp should not be telling some kitten when stillness is gonna be up. it’s a freakn stupid kitten system. Match players with similar quality so the games are least worth something to all the players.
thanks
Hi,
I use spirit weapons sometimes and in general they are seen as pretty weak; I enjoy them, as my little friends. My only request is that they get more toughness / vitality so they don’t die so fast. I ’ve seen turrets that can take massive damage and not even blink and last a long long time. Is there any conversation on the subject or am I in the wrong place?
thanks
If only 10 in Q then top 5 in one team vs next 5 in another. If say 100 players in Q at a given time then top 10 would be totally fine as 2 random teams, most the time, vs each other. Keep in mind a top 10 player should by no means be on the same team as a bottom 10 player, that’s the point of this whole post. The implementation would be a bit more complicated , this is just a general argument
- in all ways possible you should be teamed with players of similar skill
- goal is to reduce frustration
thanks
If the Q has 10 players.
Yes, out of the top 10 the top 5 would be in a team and the next 5 best players would follow.
given 10 are in Q , put the 5 with the most experience together.
given 100 in Q take top 5 and put them in q together vs next bracket.. and so on.
wins and loss prediction should take care of the rest ( leaderboards) .
goal = reduce frustration
Hey,
here’s a simple way to improve the game greatly.
Match making should be like old Heroes’ Ascent in gw1,
The players grouped up based on a lvl of experience.
Frustration is the biggest problem in Tpvp atm. For example, u might have played a few thousand games and be grouped up with someone with only 4 games, this is completely off. I say make if fun for all; group players with similar experience together, and that’s it.
thanks,
good day
Why do so many of you think that PvP rewards should be converted to gold via PvE methods ? I say it should not and you should have just as much opportunity PvPing earning a living in GW as PvEing. If it means converting something into gold it should be a capable function in the heart of the mists not in a PvE realm.
I agree with the post insomuch that we get lots of drops in PvP that just don’t work for PvPer’s.
good day
I don’t play ele to much, but play against them and ya they are a challenge to run up against. They are similar to a engy where they can do a lot of everything. Unless you want only one char class to have all the same abilities and do all the same things the adjustments or nerfs should be limited.
good luck
