Do we have an ETA for when some of the Collections are going to have fixes implemented?
I’d like to start my Wine/Ale Collecting. Fractal Collections? Are they in the game even? This was a key feature for veteran players and a lot of us would like to see it working soon. I am fairly disappointed this wasn’t in the patch today.
Would love to see this stuff fixed.
Why not just modify the ‘Home Instance’(a copy of it, not player’s actual home instances) in each racial capitol to include a guild hall in it with places for crafting stations and an officer’s meeting room and common room? The ‘Home Instance’ doesn’t see enough use. It could be altered a little bit so that guilds could pick where they place a Mystic Forge, PvP NPCs, Merchants, etc.
Proposal
Guild Hall Jumping Puzzle/Guild Hall Gauntlet/Guild Collections
Goal of Proposal
To promote spending time as a guild in the Guild Hall, each Guild Hall design could have a Jumping Puzzle in it along with a new ‘Guild Hall Gauntlet’ that could be completed as a new ‘Guild Mission’. You have to survive waves of attackers and there could be different degrees of difficulty. The guild hall jumping puzzle could be added to the ‘Daily’ list of Jumping Puzzles. Guild Collections could be added to the list of Collections.
Drawbacks
Maybe there are drawbacks if developers set a static cost to purchasing upgrades. Smaller guilds would have a way harder time than large guilds in having a fully upgraded hall.
whatever you do, do it with the little guilds in mind.
This can’t be stressed enough. Being a big guild with access to more resources because of size and numbers shouldn’t be a better way to acquire guild upgrades. I’d suggest a scaling upgrades system. For example, let’s say hypothetically that we will be able to add a Merchant to the guild hall. For guilds of 0-25 people this would cost 10 gold(just an example) and let’s say that two months later that guild recruits more people and now they are in the 25-100 person guild size range. In order to keep the merchant they then have to pay 20 more gold. 100-500 could cost 100g. This way it is a trivial sum for large guilds to pay to have a merchant and a trivial sum for small guilds. It’s just an example but I think something like this would work.
Proposal Overview
“Guild Town”
Goal of Proposal
The goal of the “Guild Town” is to have the traditional “Guild Hall” function as more of a village or town or city depending on guild size. Each different Race’s capitol has a place for each Guild Town and architecture preferences would be set to the same style as the Capitol it was in. The Guild Town is connected to not only the Capitol, but the Home instance as well. Guild leaders and designated officers are allowed to designate where buildings and amenities are placed allowing a level of customization to make the Guild Town feel unique to each guild’s town. Permissions can be set on the level of privacy and if set to “Open” players in the game can visit specific Guild Towns to view them. Recruiting bulletin boards can be placed in Guild Towns that offer information about the guild. When at the entrance to a Capitol’s “Guild Town” there is an NPC there that has a menu of each guild and a short description can be posted.
Proposal Functionality
“Guild Towns” offer a way for guilds to have a setting that feels lived in by the guild. They also offer the ability to advertise to potential guild members by showing off their town as a potential place for that person. A bulletin board in each “Guild Town” tells people how they can join and who to contact or they can meet people that happen to be around!
Associated Risks
“Guild Towns” set to open status could open themselves up to potential trolling, but a feature could be implemented that any guild member could kick someone out of the guild hall and ban them from future entrance.
I think I see your point. Personally, I avoid pve like a plague, spending 99% of my time vs other players, and I avoid pve exactly because it doesn’t offer anything I consider worth my time, in particular rewards-wise.
Lesser games, which much simpler mechanics and variety compared to GW2, strangely enough manage to get the job done.
I still think difficulty and replayability have little to no relation, and your analysis matches the situation: the true problem lies in the game mechanic itself.
Thinking about easy, well established and long lasting games it’s worth mentioning dice & paper D&D (d20), Cyberpunk (d10), chess and so on.
This is interesting as it pertains to rewards too. In D&D a GM would never dole out rewards the way rewards are doled out here in this game. I think some of the reward system needs to be rethought as well. Being meaningfully rewarded as a player should still matter in an MMO. Being rewarded for playing well doesn’t mean I won’t spend money in your cash shop. The reward system has become stale and formulaic. There is no surprise anymore to how we are being rewarded. It’s Black Lion Weapon skins(not rewards really, but are treated as rewards) back pieces, Cash shop costumes(again not a reward but it’s how new stuff for our characters is being doled out), Holiday weapon skins, LW skins, and rinse and repeat.
I think the route that would better serve this game would be to introduce class evolutions where a class has a choice at level 80 to evolve into 1 of 2 new advanced classes(per specific profession)or stay as the vanilla class. This way you get variety, but it’s not game breaking. ArenaNet has a real disdain(justified or not)for skill splits for different formats(wvw/pve/pvp)and this hybridization you are talking about totally flies in the face of that. It just wouldn’t work without skill splits for formats.
I think all the CDIs should be happening right now when there isn’t much going on in PvE. Once the, “Second Half of the Second Season of the Living World: Part 2” comes out they will all get buried beneath the din of ridiculous outbursts and constructive praise and criticisms of the threads about the, “Second Half of the Second Season of the Living World: Part 2”.
I didn’t see “gem shop” anywhere in your OP. I like it!
I am all about more difficult content. Liadri was awesome. Heck, I found the Norn dude right before Poyaqui[SIC?] to be really difficult and that was fun. I think things like the stuff I just mentioned are great.
My two cents boils down to this: Give us tough content to play, but don’t offer exclusive rewards for it. That way you see who actually wants tough content.
Conversely, if ArenaNet decides to offer tough content and there aren’t exclusive rewards and then no one plays said content, you will know that the player base isn’t after the tough content, but the rewards that go with it. If that is the case then there is no reason to offer tough content. Just make it all easy so everyone can get it. It reminds me of that line from the bad guy in “The Incredibles”: “When everyone’s super, no one will be.”
What if people like challenge, and they like reward?
It really doesnt make sense to give the same reward for doing something harder than doing something easy.
sure a few people will do it, but they wont do it much, MMOs time is a consideration. People have a finite amount of time to get everything they want. Even if you enjoy something more, most people will do the thing that is more effective. If you really wanted to compare which people want more, you would have to have a situation where there is no reward in either case.
But they have done this type of test already, and most people will do it easy, and then never do it again. Because their is little satisfaction in doing an easy task for most people.
lets be honest, people would not be doing the easy stuff for no reward either. We already know how many groups wandered the world killing champions when they dropped the same thing as a regular monster.
So yeah, people can want challenge AND reward
I agree. My point is, I think a lot of people want challenging content because it means they can get a reward that not many people can get. I am just trying to identify the thrust of this thread. The OP is asking for challenging content. Is that all we want? You answered that question, but is it the quest or the reward that we are after? Luke Skywalker’s goal was the path. Han Solo’s goal was the payoff. ArenaNet’s designs seemed torn atm. We are getting more content right now for people that want instant gratification. I am more of a Luke Skywalker type. Rewards are cool and all that, but at the end of the day, it’s the challenge that attracts me. That’s why I spend a good bulk of my game time on the BLTC. It’s the most challenging content in the game.

You could have stayed, tried your best, and actually learned something from the experience.
But you deliberately went afk during a rated match. They reported an afker.
I see no problem here.
Why do people like you exist?
Because he’s right?
Not much of a reader? Yeah, reading is hard. That part about accidentally jumping into a ranked match eluded ya?. No worries. We all make mistakes, just like the OP jumping in a rated match on accident, only to get torn apart by pvp’ers and the PvP community thinks PvP is dead solely because of the game itself. Time to wake up and see that the PvP community is a huge part of the issue.

This was posted about a month ago by a good friend of mine. It’s totally relevant to this discussion.
I would like a real time data log that shows me all the damage done, dps, total damage, amount of deaths etc in my speed clears.
It would be nice to have something like Recount so i can see who isn’t pulling their weight. Can’t stand leechers who get loot and gold off of others hard work and abilities.
It of course should be opional to toggle on or off, that way casuals won’t feel under pressure, but more determined palyers could use the data to improve their builds?
I would agree with you if any of the dungeon content was taxing. None of it is though. If you want what you say you want for 30 seconds to a minute to be shaved off of a CoF run, then I can make a totally valid argument of that being trivial and trite. You can make the argument that you want to do 10 runs and that extra 5-10 minutes of your day is important.
In this game, I am all about the flexibility this game offers. Fractals are a great example of how the Fractals you get are more important than team comp. I would rather have a lot of CC in the Grawl Fractal than raw DPS. I would rather my team realize in the Mai Trinn fight that it isn’t a DPS race. I have seen some really good players die to those AoE circles in that fight. Mesmer is the best class in the Jade Fractal.
TL;DR If any of the content was ‘Raid-like’ I would agree with you. It isn’t though so I don’t because none of the content in this game is extremely difficult.
Elementalist. It does everything well and is fun to play. It keeps my attention.
Good people at ArenaNet, you can totally lock this as I found out this happened months ago. A thank you is in order though: Thanks for making the RNG worse on precursors. Also, thank you for doing so whilst not yet implementing a non-RNG way to get said precursors. Anywho, toodles!
You are like 4 months too late with that.
Dude, it’s a PSA. Public Service Announcement. It was posted to bring attention to the fact, for those of us that weren’t aware of it.
I had no idea about this myself, so I’m glad he posted.
^this. I even say in my original post that I hadn’t forged in a few months. It’s just to let people know like myself and others that had no idea it happened.
Hello all. I just wanted to give everyone a little reminder(or heads up if you didn’t know) that the Mystic Forge can now give sub level 80 exotics from putting exclusively level 80 items in it. I hadn’t forged for a few months and had zero idea it was happening. I figure this would be a nice thing to let everyone know because it may give them pause before actually using the Forge anymore.
G.I. Joe used to say “Knowing is half the battle” and I wanted you to all be able to fight at least half of it.
Some other things to note that you may have missed: Dungeon Runes are Account Bound now which is cool. Bloodstone Shards are too as well as Crystals and Philosopher Stones(Yay!).
I bought 12 named level 80 exotics like I do every few months to throw them in the Forge. It seemed a perfect time to do it as I just got a bunch of Mystic Forge Stones for getting my 15,000 point Achievement Chest. The bug: I got a few non-level 80 exotics back from putting in exclusively named level 80 exotics. This never used to happen so I am totally going to assume it is a bug because something like that would or should never be implemented without telling the playerbase so they can then decide for themselves if they ever want to take their chances with the Forge like that again. Please tell me this is a bug and a fix will be implemented for it post haste. If, “It’s working as intended” then I am fairly ticked that we weren’t told of this change. If it was in the patch notes and I missed it, then shame on me for not paying better attention.
I think ANet had, and then threw away, the perfect opportunity to please (almost) everyone with the Fervid Censer/Desert Rose skins. The Fervid Censer was exclusive, and the Desert Rose wasn’t. Both were equally cool, so people who were at the event had a special reward, but everyone still got the chance for the same type of skin.
The same with The Fiery Dragon Sword, and Jormag’s Breath. Both equally cool, one is exclusive, one isn’t. Everyone is rewarded.
I’m hoping that if and when they rerelease the Mad Memoires (and to a lesser extent the Ghastly shield) they change the flame/grin colour. I do think everyone should be able to get something of equal quality in the same style, but that the game sorely needs rewards for loyalty/skill/persistence etc. This is why the SAB skins were so good. Anyone can get the blue version, which means no one loses out, but the green and yellow versions have a sense of “been there done that”.
I like this. Everyone gets the skin and there is still an exclusivity of being at the event itself. Heck, you don’t even have to have been at the event. The items in question by the OP are available for purchase on the BLTC.
People would just play for k/d. People play for that in their heads without any sort of leaderboard in place for it and it makes the single mode we have a mess.
Actually, what do I care. I quit spvp 6 months ago and absolutely no new modes or big changes have been made to the format since then. Heck, no maps either. Knock yourself out with a k/d leaderboard in a Conquest format. Makes absolutely zero sense whatsoever because it doesn’t promote caring about the style of the format, but at least it would be a new change.
there are exactly 297 accounts that are above 21k ap. That is less than 1% of the population of the current playing player base.
Did you just “WE ARE THE 99%” about two sets of video game armor?
I like long term, but longer than the length of a president being in office is asinine.
Depends on the president.
I meant a single presidential term. My bad, but I have a feeling you knew what I meant.
Where it says, “Recently Viewed” on the BLTC and shows items I have viewed recently there should be a drop down menu where you can pick what category goes there. I would love the ability to have an “Items I’m Tracking” option that would allow me to to manually input and track 10-20 items. It could have a little scroll bar. I want info that is pertinent to me right on the front page of the BLTC and that would be a function that would be very handy indeed.
Other pertinent features that could be on the drop down menu in that space would be:
“Largest Listed/Buy Now Margin”
“Trending Prices Up/Down”
“Top Listed Items”
“Most Sold/Bought”
Thanks for your time.
It’s a shame it was implemented this way. You should be able to build a full set of armor. I am at 15k AP after 2 years of very steady play with only a few breaks here and there. At my current pace it will take me about 5 years to complete the set f armor I want. I like long term, but longer than the length of a president being in office is asinine.
I like it. My concern though is ArenaNet’s track record of expanding upon existing systems. For example, we were supposed to get monthly additions to the PvP reward tracks and it didn’t happen. Mini dungeons stopped being implemented and we have gotten few new jumping puzzles. It’s too bad the maps added after the game came out(Dry Top and Southsun Cove) have no rewards for clearing them even though they don’t add to map completion. A reward and a reason to complete exploration on them for all of my characters would have been a nice touch though. They haven’t added any new dye that isn’t Black Lion Chest RNG in two years which is such a shame. The ability to craft new dyes would be huge. They did expand upon the wardrobe system though so that is good and the BLTC got some love. The majority of the time though, they like to add a new feature and then just leave it as is.
sell to merchant – 4.95s
^ this is what to do. If they make them salvageable, the only thing we would be getting is bloddstone dust. No thanks.
There’s always Party chat.
Without the benefit of either whispers or map chat, I don’t see how these players will be getting into parties in the first place.
The trial is so they can see if they like the game play. If they do then they can buy the game and have access to the rest of it. The chat in this game is like the chat in any other MMO so they aren’t missing anything by not having access to it.
So good! This is really appreciated guys. You are doing a great job!
All three roles matter in PvP. That isn’t the case in PvE. It could be the case in PvE if they would do skill splits. That won’t ever happen though.
It’s just how people are Cass, but I totally agree with you. Look at the iphone stuff from last week. I had friends that got broken phones to replace their perfectly working phones and they were still defending the broken phones like their new broken iphone was a family member or something. They stood in line for hours and were congratulating each other on facebook for buying a phone. People will be rude about whatever, and if they like it will defend an opinion about whatever.
It’s the same with GW2. I have seen many posts asking the devs to change this game into other games. They don’t come out and directly say the exact game they want this game to be, but it’s pretty easy to infer. Those are the people I would tell, “This game doesn’t need to be open world with flying mounts and have orcs in it. This game probably isn’t for you.”
In Guild Wars 1 we got these as drops: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Putrid_Cyst
Putrid Cysts. Could you imagine killing something and deciding the thing you wanted to take as a trophy was a cyst? Yuck.
I also think a toggle for Commander Tags would be great. You find out in the server TS/Mumble/Vent etc. who is commanding on which map and you can filter by Commander name the tags that show on the map. That way there is no confusion as to who is leading. Same goes for PvE. I am tired of Commander tags covering up tooltips that I hover my cursor over when I want to see read about an icon in a town or map.
Cooking discovery is a lot of fun. I agree about having to craft though. Everything should be purchasable by those who detest crafting in games.
Thanks for the feedback. It does seem fairly minor. Sometimes I really notice it. That’s when I switch to my Elementalist. For the most part though, it does seem a non-issue. I was fairly ticked when the announcements were happening about this one, because the communication on ArenaNet’s part at that time was bad to say the least.
The communication has gotten better. They listened to the community on leveling issues and commander tags. Overall, I think this is a better direction we are heading in. Thanks ArenaNet.
Were the drops that catered to class ever implemented? I don’t recall seeing it in the patch notes. <—— It’s probably that i missed it, but was still wondering if it was put in the game.
I’d like to reiterate for the thousandth time that this is not the way to go about giving feedback. Telling someone how to do their job is so condescending.
1.) Alliances
2.) A toggle in order to see guild member “Dots” on the mini map in PvE and WvW w/out having to be partied
3.) More options for sorting rosters
4.) Seeing my msg. of the day in the chat window which you already “sold” me, Chris :P After your illness, I didn’t want you to forget, but it looks like you are still in the throes of a fever dream with that Asura Catapult thing you just said
I know this thread has probably been written a thousand times over, but I believe Black Lion Weapons are still a problem for the more ‘casual’ gamers that aren’t loaded enough to spend ridiculous amounts of money for these weapons.
I consider myself among the more casual players of this game and I’m not one for spending a lot of real money on in-game items. I, like a fair amount of others, have bought some bank tabs and some extra materials storage space as well as character slots. These all improve the quality of life in the game. But I completely refuse to pay for BL Keys for the chests only to have a chance at scraps and a lesser chance of a full ticket. I also don’t play anywhere near enough to be able to afford the incredibly steep coins to gem exchange rates.
So having sat on this for a while I can only think of one complete solution, continue to offer these weapons for the tickets in chests and have it remain as the easy way to get these weapons. But, as the alternative for casual players have the tickets be some kind of long term reward for playing the game in some way. I.e getting 1 ticket for completing the monthly achievements. Or as an alternative offer some way to gain them in the mystic forge for some kind of recipe, Or make them a long term crafting goal. There needs to be some alternative way that doesn’t involve some incredible level of pure luck or heaps of real world money/ Investing way more time that is actually possible for the ‘casual’ gamer.
Just like everyone else I appreciate that these weapons are kind of exclusive. However, at the moment I feel as if they are completely out of my reach and probably a high proportion of the rest of the games population.
I really love this game and have since GW:Prophecies but I just can’t take not being able to acquire some of the best skins ANet have designed so far because they not only reside behind a paywall but they also are part of one big (highly outrageous) game of RND. This doesn’t stop me from playing but It may give me a bigger boost in playing more…
Thoughts… there has to be a better way that doesn’t ruin the business model.
The best way for a person in your situation is to buy the skin for gold in the BLTC when they only cost 1 ticket per weapon. Sure, it might cost you 60g or so, but if you really want the weapon it is well worth it. You can also use it as a money making system for future weapons. You buy 2-3 of them and hold on to them until they cost 5 tickets each and supply on them has gone down a bit. After a while, it is easy to get between 100-300g for a skin that you have saved. Then you can use the profit to buy other skins you like in the future.
A thread QQing about Rangers…in WvW…Well slap me twice and call me Sally. Rangers are not OP. Period. Rangers have always been good, solid, or strong in PvP and weak in Team PvE or WvW. Our pet mechanics are still atrocious. Pets are as bad now as they were in 2011 when I played the demo of the game at ComiCon in San Diego.
Also Original Poster: referring to a game mechanic as cancer is disgusting. Can we please stop using that word to describe things? It does a terrible disservice to the people actually suffering from it.
Ranger is no more a threat than an Ele or any other DPS class. They are just a threat in WvW now. They are finally able to hold their own. It’s fine if you are of the opinion that they are too strong. It doesn’t mean they actually are.
The Exotic Collection is only the exotics out of the Champ Bags making named exotics more expensive and therefore providing less means of forging a precursor because their cost now is prohibitive to do so.
Wait, what? That doesn’t make sense. In fact, since a lot of those named exotics are a sideeffect of precursor forging, the cost of making a precursor (after calculating gains from selling any more costly forge byproducts) should go down.
The named exotics like “Crystal Guardian”, “Bonetti’s Rapier”(The Champion Bag named exotics) etc. have gone up in price significantly for the most part because they are a part of the new collection system. Those used to be the cheapest named exotics because they were the most readily available. It’s not the case anymore.
Umm, I don’t know when the last time you checked those items on the TP were, but Bonetti’s was 27 gold just last month, and Crystal Guardian was around 20. They both went way up in price back in April because they have Superior Sigils of Bloodlust. No, the collection didn’t help but they were in no way the cheapest named exotics as you claim.
My apologies for listing the names out of that collection off the top of my head. The two karka bows are over 150g each. They both held in the 30-40g range before the update. A few of the scepters as well. Occultist Flame was a few gold before the update and is now over 20g. Arc is selling for over 4g and was one of the cheapest named exotics you could get prior to the patch. Combustion is selling for close to 6g. My point was that you could get some of the cheaper ones in the 2-3g range before and now can’t. Exterminator was constantly in the lowest range of 1-2g. It’s now north of 3g.
The Exotic Collection is only the exotics out of the Champ Bags making named exotics more expensive and therefore providing less means of forging a precursor because their cost now is prohibitive to do so.

It is lucky. But also maybe it’s more than luck. I strongly suspect there are a lot of achievement hunters around, possibly due to the console generation growing up with achievements. I mean all the games basically have them now. Older generations of players tend to think achievements are sort of silly, but many of the newer gamers grew up with them and expect them.
I’m an older gamer. To be honest, the first time I saw achievements in a game, I didn’t understand the point. It did seem silly to get some title for doing something that you were going to do anyway. I still don’t care for achievements all that much, because they are basically just pre-set goals, and I used to play text-based RPGS where you basically make your own goals. So, I’m used to coming up with stuff that I find interesting.
I am an older gamer and technically, all we had were achievements and leaderboards. You put your quarter in the Donkey Kong, Galaga, Pac Man or Super Mario Bros. machine and earned points and hopefully placed in the top ten so you could put your initials on the leaderboard. Does that mean a lot of people care about that? I am sure a lot of people because the metrics show that they do or we wouldn’t have gotten so much stuff towards arbitrary collections. For me personally, it stinks. Instead of adding fresh new content to the game, they are stretching thin the existing content by adding new rewards. The collections aren’t even a decent amount of Achievement Points for the most part. The Exotic Collection is only the exotics out of the Champ Bags making named exotics more expensive and therefore providing less means of forging a precursor because their cost now is prohibitive to do so. This “Collection” thing is just The precursor Scavenger Hunt they said they were working on without any precursors for rewards. Everyone is cool with that? Where’s the open communication in that? Their actions are telling me they don’t want to implement a non RNG way of getting a precursor. Taking the most readily available named exotics and adding them to a collection has just made it harder to RNG a precursor and literally no one is talking about it. No one is talking about how collections are the scavenger hunt without the precursors either.
@JohnPeters : don’t look at guild halls like you do, “a feature that could change gw2 as a whole”, just look at it like a feature that will just make players happy because they wanted and asked it for so long.
I agree with this a lot. Guild halls should be looked at as for the player. Something added to purely benefit the player base as a place to congregate with friends. The initial purchase of the Guild Hall(sans upgrades) shouldn’t be a gold sink. It shouldn’t be a gem sink. It should be there as a private area for guilds to enjoy.
But it should very much add game-play as well.
Sure. I agree. That wasn’t the point of my post though. My point was “the initial purchase” of a guild hall. I tried to make it clear that there shouldn’t be a gate associated for acquiring a guild hall initially.

IDK it seems like people might abuse this like they abuse the guild banks and make their own “housing” and if linked with influence affecting all guilds not just one you represent people might abuse the guilds. What is the points of guilds? Personal or communal use? Personally I want Guild Halls but will put up my suggestion once the CDI for Halls begin.
That’s why I was referring to “the initial purchase” meaning the bare minimum guild hall costing very little. Upgrades cost. It’s my belief that even a 5 person guild should be able to easily afford their initial guild hall and work their way up from there. IDK how they would abuse it really. It still is gonna cost them a ton to get a guild bank for personal storage.

What are the 3 top QOL features you think Guild Halls could provide that maybe couldn’t exist otherwise? Try not to list features that are beyond QOL, but I won’t hold it against you because its hard to do.
- Player Housing. Think of it more like a guild village. That’s one major part that Guild “Halls” are good for.
- Showroom for guild-achievements (another suggestion of mine)
- Hotspot for all guild related stuff
This is really good. Making the instanced parts of cities into “Guild housing towns” where members can get houses all in the same instance that can be decorated to player tastes etc. Commendations could be spent to unlock upgrades for the village —i.e. Mystic Forge, Crafting Stations, Guild Vendors, Laurel Vendors, BLTC etc.-- The different racial cities naturally offer different architecture choices and themes. It would offer a place that felt lived in and you would be surrounded by friends.
I fully understand the annoyance. The collections are so hit or miss. I had a similar annoyance with the Honor of the Waves Collection. I received 2 Exotics that weren’t even level 80. The Dwayna Collection is similarly frustrating. I have both of the bows and now I have to RNG two pieces of jewelry that my characters won’t use(they are exotic and all my characters are in Ascended) or spend hundreds of gold to acquire them and Soulbind them after which, they will be rendered completely useless.
TL;DR Most of these collections are gold sinks plain and simple and feel implemented for the economy of the game and not the players.
Ok time for a third topic.
Guild Halls.
I see this subject come up a lot in this thread and while we can talk about other aspects of Guild Halls at some point, let’s try another exercise.
What are the 3 top QOL features you think Guild Halls could provide that maybe couldn’t exist otherwise? Try not to list features that are beyond QOL, but I won’t hold it against you because its hard to do.
I’m out for the day hiking at Mt. Rainier but will try and return with my own top three later this weekend.
1.) Sense of specialized community. A place for friends to gather. A restaurant or pub(Lion’s Arch) is nice but home(guild hall) serves a different purpose for friends. Someone at ArenaNet rightfully thinks that adding guild halls sequesters players and can make hubs seem less occupied and they are right. As a player and leader of a longstanding guild in Tyria(player since launch, leader since 2007) I can tell you that the appearance of the game population means absolutely zero to me. Having a place where only my guild members can congregate is much more important to me and the players of my guild and also a large portion of the playerbase.
2.) Chat channels. Sure, I can turn off chat channels. Do I want to though? Not really. Chat can be downright disgusting at times in local and map chat channels. I want a place I can go to do my trading, Mystic Forging, Crafting etc. without “white noise” from local and map chat. If there is a way to get those things in a guild hall, then that is what I want. I like the airship in Gendarran Fields especially after LA opened back up. The only thing missing are my guildies popping in between adventures or doing crafting as well.
The chat there is all ours. You can’t put a price on that as a QoL upgrade.
3.) A private congregation place.
All the things I have listed are inherent QoL features simply by ArenaNet putting Guild Halls in the game. None of these even need to be added at a later point or even need to be thought about.
This is all stuff metrics can’t show you, but if you have ever played an MMO you know to be true. Guild Halls and housing should have been in the game at launch. They should be completely inexpensive to obtain so that any size guild has access to it. It’s a feature that should just be standard. I personally don’t even think there needs to be discussion about it. It should just be in the game.
The new changes to leveling would be okay with some adjustment. By “some” I mean a lot.
^This. You couple the new leveling changes with the way the trait system is right now and it’s a messed up system. I hope everyone who likes the new leveling system can at least understand why there are those of us who find it frustrating and broken compared to what we had before.
I can understand why so many people are upset and I am being completely serious. Honestly I don’t like the way they locked all the skills and I’ve been very vocal about it in different topic posts. My only problem is some people making it seem like GW2 is going to blow up because of it and all of the I’m leaving topics that have been posted. I mean if your going to leave just leave if you don’t like it and want changes give constructive criticism but don’t make threats. :/
Agreed. I won’t defend anyone being caustic or mean-spirited on the forums. Throwing a tantrum does nothing to fix the situation. The trait system for unlocking traits during leveling has been broken(in my opinion) for six months now. The trait system(the trait window and free respec costs and not needing a trainer) when you are level 80 is great!
I am tired of this game taking 3 steps forward(Ranger changes, BLTC changes) and 2 steps back(ArenaNet implemented the Scavenger Hunt and Renamed it “Collections” and got rid of the precursors that were supposed to be a part of it). That is the stuff I don’t like. There are many things I do like, but then they go and add stuff that literally makes no sense. Well, it makes no sense from the perspective of a player.
