Please whisper me ingame and teach me the ways of farming for mats. I feel like I spend gold crazy fast. SIgh. And Iam not even sure what to go for stat wise.
I made two exotics sets. Cele and zerker based on ppl here.
Theradin shadowleaf.

Just pvp , and yes I should have gone with condi and healing power but it is not entierly my playstyle. Nevertheless I’m not super stoked about tempest..yet!
That is good to hear. Let them enjoy themselves in the slums ^^
I have to admit, playing tempest was not really something I was going to do.
But since Ive tried all the new elites I figured why not tempest aswell.
I went for dagger/wh because Id like to see what it was like in theory.
Well, there werent enough spells going on because of the horn casts to really selfheal with Signet of Restoration, so I swapped to “Wash the Pain away” but it did little for me.
I had some success with Scepter warhorn but not a whole lot. It still felt out of place and weak.
So ended up trying all types of runes and amulet, and all types of weapon combinations. I quickly found out… I was doing much better without the darn horn..
And then I quickly found out, I did much better without tempest…
Good luck casting those channel overloads on a group of players.. haha.
So the only build I got to work pretty well…was..
Cele / strength Staff.. With tempest, water and earth. I was able to take a beating from..not 1, not 2 but 4 people while still keeping my allies alive.
I ran “Wash the pain away”, Lightning flash, Flash Freeze and Frost Bow and Flm GS as elite.
While the other elites sort of lifted the whole profession such as revenant, necromancer and warrior, tempest did little for me. It felt quite..out of place.
I only played around with this for around 4-5 hours over one day against a bunch of random people so who knows. But there it is.
Hello, I’m been having a lot of negative experience in pvp lately.
Most of these come from random people giving up, or just straight up quitting after a couple of minutes.
Can everyone agree it is absolutly infuriating? And how on earth are those people punished? Are there a punishment for it all all.
There is no report tab for just straight up afking a match.
I don’t always have the oppertunity to have a full premade.
Any thoughts on this?
I tried it, was decent. Fun, but decent.
Funny, I was going into BW with the mindset that revenant was going to be in focus and in mind while quickly trying the other elite specs.
Reaper was by far the most enjoyable out of all of them and I loved GS and reaper both in pve and PVP. Gravedigger crit for 8k with marauder and strength and with such a low CD while others are around it was amazing and outperformed everyone else I fought.
Sounds really awesome, I’m heading to bed but will test it tomorrow. I actually ran something simular in pve (really quickly) I love the mace/axe combo and staff! Keep it up!
Yes, sadly this might be the last beta test before HoT release, which luckily isn’t that far away! I am really hoping people will make some good videos from the coming weekend and post them here. Different races, pvp, pve, WvW, dungeons, doesn’t matter.
Build videos, theorycrafting. Armor choices. There is a ton of it to discuss and even tho I am lucky to play Revenant I’m also excited to see what you guys are doing!
Let us care and share!
I can deal with classes, what I cannot deal with is the people who throw in the towel after a few minutes. It does my head in.
Do you honestly think you cannot turn things around? How do you know you are gonna lose. A loser attitude breeds a loser. I’ve had my fair share of people on my team giving up after five minutes. And its bittersweet when we win and its bitter when its close to a win. Please, please, the “if I meet two ele or mesmers Iam afking” is getting redundant. You might aswell just leave pvp and enjoy the other aspects of the game.

I’m still not sure! And then it totally depends apon playstyle!
Okay! I am home from work! First off, thanks to all who added pictures and helped me!
I think its safe to say, the two most popular opinions in here is Sylvari and Charr.
And even Donee replied and helped me. I had already seen your beta weekend vid a couple times and I really likee big animations and kittenery!
Thanks again!
~Mojja
Awesome guys! Thanks alot so far and I agree. Sylvari do look bad@ss!
@L Step, that is true. I just wish there were more options but no, they all are heavy armored fighting machines.
@Dwadler I know right!
I’m at work, will check back when I get home, and stay awesome!
~Mojja
Hey, I am having troubles selecting a proper race for my necro.
Iam kind of stuck between human, Sylvari and Charr for the most part.
I already have a asura necro but not sure what I feel about it…
What do you guys think?
Asura?
Norn?
Sylvari?
Human?
Charr?
Pictures of your awesome looking necromancers would also help! Thank you and stay awesome
~Mojja
I almost exclusivly play engineer. It is a fun class and it can do so much. But that does not excuse the bugs and glitches the profession suffers from.
Is the engineer in a good spot pve, pvp,WvW wise? Yes
Is it flawless? Far from it.
We all want the profession to function like we want it to right?
Roy is the man! Hope you find out man!
Yes, lets throw everything that is unique about each class out the window.
On a serious note, engineers do not need a weapon swap. We already got kits which helps us. I can’t wait to use hammer ! And I wonder what its gonna do for the game!
Hey, so we got a healthy mix of races for warriors, but I’m positive human are number one. With no race change in the game I thought it would be good to show off different races kicking butt in pvp and WvW. It would be helpful for those who have no idea what race to go for.

Thanks to everyone who wants to contribute.
~InFlames
The racials are under utilized and barely used by anyone. I think your race gave up their heritage for revenant power.
Thanks man, ur my hero!
Thank you both for your answers! :L) around 8:45 PM CET time or so
Also is it on twitch?
At what time is the point of interest today? Is it live? I can’t wait!
I agree. However unlikely it might be lets hope Ray just bursts the “Everyone get to play rev from nowon out if u bought exp”
Not sure If Charr or Human. Normally I make asuras but I think this calls for some awesome armor skins.
(edited by Inflames.8026)
Yes, right now I, as many others are wating for rev to be released. Atleast we have something to look forward to. I got hundred tomes so Iam good on that part. But I gotta farm and make some armor tho.
So from a pure build perspective what you are trying to achieve is might through elexirs and get them with flamethrower (simplified explanation). It could work. Reminds me of a juggernaut build.
Bumping to front page since alot of new engineers have a ton of questions about the profession!
^ Pretty much this. Any type of pvp with other players result in flaming, because you can communicate with them. Then you got other factors like “Are they hungry?, Have they lost alot, do they complain among themselves and bring themselves down?,” "Was so sure I could atleast beat sh**y condi engie atleast*.
I think people running the easiest and most “OP builds” gets raged on.
And I think people clearly running the worst builds but wins gets raged on
Rampage got nerfed, one trick pony scrubs refuse to play the class. /slowclap.
I like ur style Korean Gamer, and for that I’m gonna test ur build out and give some feedback man.

Hello Chaos Archangel! Necromancers fill a niche roll and has a ton of builds.
In order to understand them we need to go through some of the builds.
But first the basics. A necromancer has a naturally high healthpool with deathshroud, able to get twice the hp pool. They are able to do an aoe cripple and apply weakness in deathshroud aswell as putting up some bleed conditions.
Most necromancer specs use staff as one part of the weaponspecc which gives slow, condi, fear(CC) and condi transfer.
Condition necromancers are able to transfer conditions from allies onto themselves and give them to the enemy, or put on heavy condi pressure on the enemy team.
There are several ways to make a condi necro, but they put alot of pressure and can very strongly fight mesmers, engineers, warriors, guardians (even with condi cleanse utility). Only profession you usually have trouble with is very sneaky thieves and elementalists.
Power necro: Using Wells. Able to drop wells which heals you, do damage on each pulse, able to rip boons from the enemy and cleave down the team.
Minionmaster necromancer: Able to hold and defend a single point against 1 or 2 professions with little ease, giving plenty survival and damage.
Bunker necromancer: Explained by Zalavaaris.
This is very general but you get the idea.
When is the beta? This weekend?
Hello and thank you all for the replies so far. First off both me and probably Celtus know that staff is not in the meta and that d/d is a better option, but I really enjoy ele staff builds because it gives a different playstyle all together.
The current build I run, and that Ive had huuuge success with is:
Fire: Down, Up, Down
Water: Up, Up, Up
Arcane: Mid, Mid, Up
Staff : Geomancy/ Battle sigil Hoelbrak Runes, Marauder Amulet
Heal skill: Ether renewal
Utility: Lightning flash, Armor earth and Glyph Storm. I change these from time to time
Elite: Elemental or fiery Greatsword
With this build I have great offense and some defence. If I get focused I will die fairly fast. I also cant deal very well with mesmers and gs/hammer warriors.
Rest is doable
But, in teamfights it is amazing. Being able to drop down aoe dmg that crits for 4k a hit is insanely fun. Sometimes I run frostbow just for the extra pewpew, but thats up to you guys.
Iam guessing the overhaul that is saving necros are in the HoT expansion. I dont see them changing anything drastic now. We are and always have been slow punching bags. But we fill a certain roll and do well. And instead of crying over mediocre stuff we evolve and expand to the next thing. We always been great in pvp and wvw in my opinion. And frozen out of pve cus herd mentality
You all cry over necros getting nerfed, while most of the stuff that are touched are fixes. Bug fixes. Maybe they didnt mean for a certain skill to act a certain way. Same goes for most other classes. They either recieve a small bugfix or nerf.
They cant just willynilly go crazy either because we have to play with their builds for a month or two before a new fix is out so they need to go slow and easy.
I say we are pretty strong in wvw. We fill a certain roll in spvp wether its corruptions or wells but I like that
Alchemy/Inventions/Firearms is pretty cool kid with FT and cele. loads of cc, condi clear, and burns.
If you could link your build in its fullness that would be great and helpful mate.
Thanks~

Hello I am Mojja and I made a very successful engineer build topic.
Besides doing engineer stuff I love to hop on my elementalist alt.
I’ve played some d/d, d/f and s/f builds. While they are interesting in their own way I really enjoy the support/ aoe damage from Staff.
Before the trait change patch I had a pretty decent staff build and people had a hard time cleaving me down. After the trait change I ran some zerker staff builds which was all about burst or get bursted.
There has to be more people out there like me who enjoy the aestetics of staff and the fun playstyle, so I thought we could all share ideas and builds. Maybe talk abit about the process behind it, what your purpose is and what professions you find the hardest to deal with.
Thanks to all who contribute.
- Mojja
I honestly think that Explosives/Inventions/Alchemy rifle power builds are the best way to go right now.
Best examples of this are Bigzan in EU (runs soldier’s amulet with slick shoes) and Chaithh (marauder’s with Elixir S).
Flamethrower HGH seems pretty legit as well though.
I will definetly try this build out, but I am not a big fan of flamethrower because its so easy to get punished while you spay them, but its a nice cleave when hitting people kittens. Also you have to be a might stack god in order to get a decent flamethrower.
With the build I run at the moment I have trouble with three classes: Ele , mes and condi necros)
Mes is all about dodging their initial burst and cleave em with condi and use grenades to remove their illusions when they pop in stealth.
Ele is all about kiting I feel like. They will 1v1 me on a point so I have to be annoying.
Necro is all about keeping distance but its hard because of the high bleedstacking with scepter and warhorn. I dont think they are an issue if I swap out gren with elexir gun but I lose alot of burst. Food for thought
Ive had some success with some of the builds here. And I feel powerful enough to take on alot of enemies. Even get out of rampage warriors way. Which is good
The build is : http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-Z70;2cPVg0l6cQ-x0;9;4ilm;0036146236;9;1CoF2CoF2a0e (this is someone elses build) but it works wonders
And been enjoying myself alot with it.
Only thing I changed was Stream lined kit instead of Long time fuse
(top instead of bot in the Mid tools belt)
(edited by Inflames.8026)
So far Ive tried Sorels Grenadier burst build and its a ton of fun and quite strong.
Iam alot stronger now and I actually have burst! So 10+ for that. I’m gonna edit this post once Ive done more testing!
The Rozbuska build was good, but not entirely my playstyle and felt weaker in alot of situations
Thanks tho

Hello, I’m Mojja and I’m an Engineer.
I’ve played the game on and off since release, but its not until the past 6 or so months that I fell in love with engineer, thanks to some youtubers (Sir koroshi and Wolfineer)
I used to main thief but it became a gimmic profession in my opinion. Anyway!
After the latest trait patch I changed from a static discharge build to a celestial substain build with strength rune and celestial amulet. It worked well the first few weeks but now when everyone made the meta build Ive felt that we have fallen behind.
Iam sure some of this is a learn to play issue and that some of you have no issues at all. And thats why I finally decided to make this post. This is not a QQ post, I just want tips and perhaps a few builds that has worked for you guys. Any thoughts and ideas are very welcoming and I hope we all can stay friendly and maybe even discuss how to fight certain professions in pvp. Talk to me like I’m new because I sure feel that way.
Thanks for all responses and have an awesome weekend.
i main engineer and warrior, and have been playing them since beta. the reason i like these classes is that they are both sturdy professions, have many leap skills, abundant cc, have strong melee and ranged options, and have an aesthetic i enjoy (heavy armour, explosions, guns, axes, shields and hammers are my thing). i have played every other class and have all but necromancer (no leaps won’t play it) but keep coming back to those two. each class is unique and i suggest you play those that you enjoy, both playstyle and flavor wise.
my suggestions are thus: go to metabattle.com and read all of the meta builds. choose those that you like the look of and go into HotM and try them out on npcs and in hotjoin (now called practice). hopefully you can find one that you enjoy both the flavor and playstyle of. once you have, and you should be able to, the next step would be to watch a youtube guide for the build, or class. metabattle often has a link on the build page to videos, and if not then youtube should have one. once you become decent with the build then i would suggest trying out nonmeta builds and having fun.
if you decide on warrior or engineer you are more than welcome to whisper me in game for advice. i have access to a private arena, and a large amount of players who would be happy to 1v1 you on multiple classes.
ah, but here is the simple advice. meditation guardian is extremely fun and strong. tap dat mouse has a great tips and tricks video on it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vgYoBVnXC8&ab_channel=TapDatMouse . i prefer greatsword to hammer, but you can’t understate the value of hammer after watching the video. regardless meditation guardian is a build i think all players should try. it’s easy to pick up, but has versatile multi use skills that reward thought and skill, and is very fun regardless of how good you are with it.
as long as you focus on improving and think outside of the box with your skills you will be able to do awesome things on any class.
Thanks my friend, that is awesome of you. Yes Ive actually seen some of tapthatmouse’s videos and he is the reason Iam swaying for Guardian. Even so engineer looks extremly fun aswell. I’d love to pick a class and join you. I’m the only one among my friends returning to GW2 and thus I’d love to meet and play with new people
I have no characters so can easily move to any servers
I’m on crystal desert on NA. I would recommend making a guardian and engineer. having two mains is extremely useful I’ve found, although I would recommend focusing more on one than the other to begin with. the guild I’m a member of does: guild raids, GvG, guild missions, pvp, and 1v1s. we all use the servers teamspeak.
if you do not have the pvp icon at the top of your screen on one of your new character you can use the portals in lions arch to enter HotM.
I have a hated engineer build you might like. many guildies ask me not to play it in 1v1 because of how hard it is to beat. it has a specific but relatively straightforward playstyle.
best of luck with pvp. hope I can have been a help, and can continue to do so.
Awesome, ty man. Think I’m gonna go for engineer! =) Now I need to pick a race. One with some awesome armor. Iam thinking about either human or Asuran.Hmmm!

Yeah, returning player here. Did a ton of pvp after the original release of GW 2 where I played thief main.
Now I’m struggling with what to pick. I sort of think every class looks fun in their own way.
Iam looking for a solid longlasting pvp class. I don’t care about OP, I care about a class that is not broken, able to do amazing things with skills and that does not get repetative.
The classes Iam sort of drawn too are thief, guardian, elementalist and possibly Engineer.
Any ideas? Every sugguestion helps and thanks to all who replies.
