There is no hiding that burn gurdians are disgusting right now with such a OP spec.
Its anywhere between 24-75k burn damage sugarcoated into 5-6 secounds. If this was an instant cast for 75k there would be an uproar. If you walked up and crit hit them with an auto attack for 10k repeatedly til they died it would be an uproar..anyway. Any decent players will notice that the guardian has a few abilities to stack burning really good. Cleansing the fire stack, while dodging some other key abilities is a great way to deal with them. Their condi cleanse is quite rubbish too compared to the previous meta so applying a ton of conditions on them makes them widdle away.
I would sugguest going to an arena and ask people if they want to duel you or practice with you til you get the rotation right. There has to be atleast 90 000 burn guards playing so you will find one pretty fast I’m sure of.
Don’t expect to get great results immediatly. Knowing what the enemy is, uses and wants to use on you is key to survival
Awesome guys, right now Iam running the usual bleedstack builds through sb and axe/d and I enjoy that playstyle alot. Id be interested to try out the build you guys have aswell. And Iam happy to say after 5 rounds I dont think my pet has died once. ^^

Well, if any of you feel like good rangers and want to teach me how to become a better ranger I’d appreciate that. Ive found troll urgent to be quite good, specially when being abit more active with my dodges. Ive also managed to be more active with my pets which was quite unusual.
All in all the challenge makes it worth it. I’ve mastered engineer and it has become dull

No kidding. After extensivly playing ranger in pvp it furiates me to no end. I can name 7 other classes outperforming the poor ranger atm. Such shame.
Played since release, couple of classes I never bothered with, ranger among one of em.
Playing condi ranger with and without traps and pewpew I noticed a couple of things.
-Healing skills sucks, troll Unguents heal is so horrible any dps will offset the tiny bit of healing thanks to zerker meta.
- WHaO is poor, and almost seem mandatory for my next reason.
-Healing springs is a decent choice if you want to support, but in soloQ its just wasted.
-Pet dies so fast!, its out of commision in spvp within 10 secounds.
- Condition cleansing is soft, but with the current burn meta its quite devistating.
- Facing cele necros. Trying to widdle em down only to go through a secound hp bar with shroud, remove shroud, dps them alittle and then widdle down a full shroudbar again..
There seem to be alot of core issues with rangers, and honestly I’ve always enjoyed killing the pesky rangers, being one makes me tip off the hat.
Thief: My god! Worst weekend ever. I need a complete overhaul.
Engineer:But your entire job is to cap points, finish off weak enemies Besides the hammer skills kind of sucked. Hammer 3 needs a overhaul.
Thief:Then why was I given a melee 2h weapon at all?

oh cool so what was changed from rangers to druids?? oh ya HEALS and that is all you need to love the class? as if we didnt have that before if you guys still remember heal as one.
Do people feel screwed just because it is hip to say it, I wonder. Ranger is 100% dps. Nothing else. You could go trap condi, condi, double melee, gs/lb. And how did that play out for you guys? Unwanted in the pve scene, non existing in the pro scene, low on the scoring board. What else do you guys want really? Druid actually makes ranger more interesting. Think of all the new builds you can run. You don’t have to use staff you know. People have grown to be unhappy no matter what. Pc gamers are a hard crowd to please and gaming companies are in a constant tug-o-war because the feedback they get is so biased and skewed from reality.
Dont worry Druid going to get nerfed hard. Rangers want Druid to be DPSzzzz so Anet will likely nerf the healing to compensate and it will be back to a basic guardian support level.

YEY that is what Majority of main Rangers wants. make a skill set for Celestial avatar Longbow and other weapons that 20% of damage you deal heals players around you in 450 ranger. ok back to reality. Healer druids are a very dull way to play and only unskilled player would want to heal because they don’t like crowded game where you have to always be aware and properly decide which skills to use.

The fact that you sacrifce your own egosentric pewpew build to save your teammates by positioning yourself, healing yourself and your friends is actually quite the opposite. I can’t think of anything less skilled then shooting people with rapidfire from 1200 range in conquest while they fight something else.
Yes! You pretty much experienced the same as me, tho I was saddened I couldnt play much WvW. Still, I got some time to level up a ranger now and prepare it. I already made ascended gear, tho for my “[s]crapper”, but think druid will get my love. Anyway, gearwise did you feel like something was better then other? Valkyrie, celestial? Cleric?

Yes, I hated ranger. With passion! I dont know, it never brought anything exciting to the table. Either you sat still and put down traps. Or you pewpewed. Pvp anyway. Feel rangers are more versitile in WVW, specially since they are 1v1 gods!
Not only did I hate playing ranger, but I sort of automatically hated people who played ranger. They had to knockback in pve, they had to pewpew kite you. Anyway.
Ive tried all professions this BWE. Again. I tried Scrapper (main engie) and rev (possible main?) but the thing I enjoyed the most was druid.
I was able to keep myself up through incredible tanking. I healed my allies in small doses. I was a pain in the pooper. I dealt substain damage, so much that I chased some professions away. When the new pets are viable in pvp too! HOLY MOLY!
Just gotta say I’m 100% happy ^^
In the beta, does the mesmer do more damage now and is more forgiving then live game? I’m having a few confusion stacks here.
The hammer three has to be one of the most frustrating abilities to use in pvp right now. It should do atleast good damage but it does 1,6k per hit. It rarely hits three times or it does nothing at all because it gets stuck in terrain. Using the ability you fall off small ledges, get stuck in rocks, On foefire on quarry fighting on point has to be the worst.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Like anything else in GW 2, you need a good understanding of how Unrelenting assault works. Revenant is easy to lock down, has poor condi cleanse and easy to burst down.
UA can be blocked by engineer, or warrior. It can be negated by mist form, mesmers “no pain”, warriors no pain, rangers stoneskin signet, dodges. Also dropping wells, traps, mines on your feet will also ruin the UA. You see, there is a TON of counterplay.
Kinda like watching out for guardian burn stacks. Either you cleanse that kitten right
away or dodge the burst, or you die.
Revenant is way too op atm..If you think its normal to just run around and 1 shot ppl then your not an true player. End of story.
But thats the point of beta test,we can all hope devs will see it and adjust it.

I want to see most of the classes shake off a third cascade from the hammer for 10k damage. Loved opening with hammer 2 spam on team fights this weekend and watching the downs pile up.
The hammer skills 2-3 are high reward at low cost.
ANet won’t truly get the message though till launch. Will be comping 1-2 glass revenants into each backline group in WVW. I’d like to see the kitten storm it causes to finally get ANet to balance this kitten.
First off, you dont do 10k hammer smashes. That is numbers pulled straight out of your imagination. It did 6k on most enemies. Also its highly telegraphed with atleast 2 sec reaction time. It was like many other abilities a great way to assure a stomp or disrupt an enemy reviving an ally. There are plenty things in the game doing 6k dmg.
Some of the reaper abilities, gravedigger, mindspike, aimed shot (not the bug), grenade barrage, warrior gs 3, thiefs p/d 3, letting ranger pewpewpew, stepping into ranger trap stacks, Heck zerger ele staff auto crits for 4,6k. AUTO. It shouldnt be a problem once you get some practice

Expansions aren’t P2W.
If a paid expansion offers options in a competitive setting that are better than the options available to free players, it’s P2W. Kinda the definition.
Kind of wrong too. An expansion usually brings a ton of stuff. Higher level. Better gear. More abilities. In gw 2 levels and gear doesnt matter for spvp. Not that we have a higher level cap either. What we get is different. Not better, just different.
The problem is the fact that MMR follows a character. If you create a new class right now you will be stuck in ELO hell as they call it with incompetent players.
Thank god its not only me. Ive played perhaps 40-50 games today.
Ive had maybe 13 or so good games. Rest was losses.
The losses usually consisted of people quitting, afking, not listening to instructions. Zerging. Kept running 1v4 and dying. Did not defend. Do not communicate, do not stomp, do not ress. Its been a horrible experience and I have to admit that after the 30th loss I became really salty. Heck I think watching liveleak would cheer me more up.

Here we see a troll in its natural habitat. He is trying to lure out a mate by writing shocking, or otherwise crazy rants which will attract other testrone filled males. Usually younger adolescence. If you don’t pay it any attention it will die after a few days.
If you decide to feed it however it can grow quite large.
Sadly I see no reason to take gyros over strong kits. You just kitten yourself so freakin hard.
Bulwark gyro? I can tank enough players without it. I can take toolkit for better abilities.
Purge gyro? I can take elixir gun to do that 10 x more.
Blast gyro? I got grenades, mines and flame thrower.
Shredder gyro? I got..well thats the only decent one.
Sneak gyro, why take it in pvp? I got elexir S.
I used this build in PvP but swapped out Elexir B for toolkit just so I can block some of that insane damage. I reckon elexir S can be taken aswell. Ive also tried the bomb gyro.
The thing you will lack is the speed, but not really a problem for me as I can move around fast enough. Ive beaten every profession in every build except for reaper necro just because they are gods in melee. Love it.
Who cares about elementalist and burning!? Are people completly blind to the fact that burn guardians can do 75,6 000 burn damage in a matter of secounds + blocks, + invuln + heals???
Dash is the only worthwhile dodge to take at this point anyway since all the others are clunky and makes you a target.

Theres plenty abilities in this game that does WAY more damage. Just take burn guardian as an example. 75,682 burn damage over 24 hits over 4,5 secounds. No condi cleanse and you are pounded. Mesmers Mind wreak, warriors rampage or gs burst. Thieves blink in and backstab sigil procs which does 8 k on procc. Ranger pewpew which hits you for 9k or , maul hitting for 7. Fresh air ele doing 16 k over a few secounds. Reapers doing their gravedigger hitting for 8-9k. Or the reaper shroud 4 hitting up to 5 targets for around 7-8k.
But no, pick on the poor rev because you can’t play against it yet
Yeah, I was attacked by warrior popping rampage. Blocked all his damage, I got jumped by DH and ele and I managed to escape. Then jump back on the warrior and nearly kill him so he ran off. I then proceeded to go save my teammate at point who had the ele and DH on him and I managed to down both of em dropping glint flame breath on top and just melt em
Tried Engineer. Gave it a 3,5/6.
Ranger druid gave it a 4/6 and it will be good with the new pets working.
Ele tempest I rate 4/6, just because you essentially run the same weapons,.
Revenant I gave it a 6/6 because I enjoyed myself immensly.
Thief DD I gave a 3/6. Not my playstyle at all.
Iam running a pretty sweet builds, focusing on my favourite weapon staff, and sword/shield for some sweet plays. Being able to punish zerkes while staying relevant in teamfights dropping tons of utility for my team!

Seems like an extremely irrational mentality to have going into a beta. I do not see the logic in setting expectations to be the extremes and only the extremes.
Irrational mentality? If you played the game as long as I have, there is nothing irational about it. There is hardly a time where its 100% perfect the first time. I’m not a pessimist tho, I really hope its awesome! I’m just not naive either ^^ Lets hope for the best.

Hello all Engineers, we will soon get to test the scrapper in the upcoming beta weekend.
Because of this I think it would be a great oppertunity to see how the scrapper fits in WvW , PvP and PvE.
First, let us look at the Scrapper Trait line
Minor – Functioning Gyro – Activate a gyro to revive a fallen ally or finish a fallen enemy
Master trait line 1
Shocking Speed – Using a leap finisher or blast finisher in a lighning field applies superspeed for three secounds to all around you in a 240 radius
Stabilization Core – When a functioning gyro is activated, you and the functioning gyro gain 8 secound (2 stack) stability
Recovering Matrix – Using your heal skill temporarily reduces damage you recive for almost 6 sec -33% damage
Minor trait – Decisive Renown – When you revive an fallen ally or finish off a downed enemy you gain 5 might and 3 secounds of superspeed
Master tier 2
Rapid Regeneration – Rapidly regenerate health while affected by swiftness or superspeed. This gives you 470 heal per secound the superspeed is active. 470 × 3
Expert Examination – Stunning or dazing a foe applies 9 sec weakness and 9 sec of 5 stack vulnerabilty to them
Mass Momentum – Gain power based on your toughness . Gain migh while you have stability ( for each secound you have stability you will gain might and the power is based on 10% of toughness)
Minor trait – Impact Savant – The duration of your outgoing stuns is increased by 25% and the incoming stuns applied to you is reduced by 25%
Master trait 3
Adaptive Armor – Gain stacking toughness when struck. Reduce incoming condition damage by 20% and 100 toughness for 10 sec (max stack of 5)
Final Salvo – Gyros grant superspeed and create a lighning field when destroyed
Perfectly Weighted – Hammer skills deal 10% increased damage. Evading an attack grants 3 sec of stability (2 stacks).
Going through all the minor and master traits I can see alot of plays here. Being able to gain health, might, stability , toughness and superspeed and the use of gyros to do your dirty work.
Using the 2h Hammer in combination with FT which was buffed and using the juggernaugt trait to give stability which can give you might through Mass Momentum.
I honestly cant wait til we can start testing the builds and I hope alot of you record the videos and post them here while giving thoughts on the matter.
Lets show the developers we care about our profession!

If you want a solid spot in a GvG WvW guild its always safe to bet on the GWEN.
Alot of you stayed positive that scrapper, druid and revenant could be welcomed!
So, with the reveal of all elite specs I’ve talked with a few guild leaders mainly doing GvG and WvW religiously. There is no hiding from the fact that the 4 clover is-
Guardian, Warrior, Necro and Elementalist.
Do you think the elite specialization of other professions will make said profession more desireable? Don’t get me wrong. I know there are some guilds out there welcoming all.
Will guilds use daredevils for spotting / fast executions?
Will tempest see any play?
Will scrapper be a good enough front line bruiser and useful with the elite gyro?
Will Druid bring anything positive to the WvW that water fields don’t already bring?
Chronomancers? Does it matter?
What about Revenant, will it grab a position as a working bee alongside the 4clover?
Lets speculate!

If you feel underwhelmed by the expansion and feel like you are not really looking forward to it, maybe you are burned out or that nothing caters to you personally.
In regards to Open world, are you saying you want to spend time ganking low level characters because thats what it sounds like. By having the system Anet has, there are no open world pvp thus no empty pve pvp servers and makes megaserver possible.
The gear matters in WvW and it matters in PvE. And moreso we hope it matters in the upcoming raids. I like the fact that you have to craft and spend time making yourself armor if you want to invest fully and with the recent change to stat change on ascended gear its quite good.
When you are playing WvW you have three options in my opinion.
Solo roam and get the “Open world” you want, party with friends and randoms and lastly you can find a WvW guild and do large scale pvp with tactics involved.
I am sure there are guilds looking for more players to join the WvW ranks and since you are competative as you described yourself , maybe you fit in a tier 2 or 3 server.

Solo Q mostly here. I’m losing so much and no matter how flawless I play, I always end up with teammates who have no idea what they are doing. Then from clear sky I’m granted a team that is not half bad and I win by a hairtread.
Maybe its because I play my engineer. To be honest , everything counters the engineer right now. Full zerks with tons of utility outshines the poor engie. And condi just wreck.

I see that I’ve gotten a few responses. Let me adress them in a respectful manner.
First off, I “main” engineer, but I also enjoy necro,thief and elementalist.
And with thief and engineer in the current meta I have to work for my kills and support the team. On the D/D ele, I can force people off point, 2v1 and not really worry about me dying because I wont.
This is however not exclusive to just elementalist.
What has happened is, some professions such as ele, mesmer , necro, burn guard has the option to burst really hard while getting saved by defensive mechanics, interupt, stun.
Thief used to have that, since all they could do was burst and stealth, blink away. But since alot of these popular builds are focused on more burst, the thief actually falls out and is now viewed and played as a support capper/Spotter/party stealther ect.
Elementalist players, why are your tears so sweet. You been the reigning kings in pvp, spvp and WvW for a long time now, the changes coming are valid and just.
The icebow was incredibly potent and gamechanging.
Say the Icebow did 10k dps. That is 10 k damage per secound. For 5 secounds.
To up to 5 enemies.
Now it does 5k dps, Thats 5 k damage per secound. For 5 secounds.
To up to 5 enemies.
Can you please show me another skill that comes remotely close to dealing an optimal 25k damage to 5 targets after a nerf?

For those who keep going despite the general hated for the class due to imbalancing issues and become nothing more then a balanced class with good damage

To me it looks like so people here think they are forced to run around and heal their allies now and lower their dps. And I’m also thinking to myself. Does rangers want MORE dps? Thats all you got at the moment and where does that take you? Are you welcomed into anything group related? Are you top tier pick for a team to bring along?
HoT is bringing diversity people. Its for those who enjoy doing damage and supporting themselves or their allies. You can still run the mindless zerker LB build that you’ve run ever since LB became relevant again.
Right now, there are two classes and two builds that is seen in every match and that is ranger, usually with a LB build, fully embracing zerker. And then there is the PU mesmer, or the GS s/x mesmer. Both dealing extreme damage from afar in few secounds with tons of defensive skills to support what would otherwise be a slaughter.
To me it seem like there are two sides here.
The people who play elementalist who is so shocked over the nerf.
And the people who try to see reason behind the nerfs.
These are small but nessesary tweaks to tone the ele down abit.
Nothing is set in stone and everything can change.

Havent seen a condi build in a long time, but it will be enjoyable to see what the elite specializations bring to the pvp aspect
By spending time in pvp, by writing down what you face and see. And then find a percent, say over 100 games. The problem here is the diversity. And some of the builds are so strong it often wins games on its own. Anyway I’m here to hear what other people think and feel.
Hello all, my name is Mojja and I PvP alot. Maybe too much sometimes.
And while Ive felt that the game always had its “metas” and original builds, its safe to say I have never been more aware of the lack of builds as of right now.
So in my games I notice a trend. There is basically a bunch of classes I rarely see, then there are classes I see pretty much in every game.
Necro, most of them cele bunker necro or minion master bunker necro.
Guardian, all are burn guardians. Why? Who can resist 60 k done over 10 sec right?
Rangers, all zerk pewpew ( havent seen a condi trapper ranger in a long time)
Mesmers, PU or Shatter, both super strong and super annoying to fight.
Classes I see in some games:
Thief, D/P and nothing else
Engineer Soldier rifle or Static discharge
Elementalist , Fresh air.
Classes I rarely see:
Warrior, mostly GS/Hammer.
Its gotten to the point where Iam on a team and I’m suppose to fight against 3 mesmers and two bunker necros. Or two minion necros, two mesmers and a burn guardian.
Or three rangers and two mesmers.
Iam gonna pull some statistics out of my behind here , but say 1 of 10 games are balanced. Rest is pretty much onesided. The good ol “Close” matches are pretty much non existing and I’m sitting here wondering why.
Is it balancing? Is it the flavor of certain classes?
I’m just trying to wrap my head around it.
I think most of the races bring something unique to the table, because there aren’t many armor options if you are picky about it.
My engineer is asura, however I wouldnt mind leveling a secound engineer.
Was actually thinking charr or sylvari.
I’am crafting ascended gear now , but leaving out the insignia because honestly I dont know what will work best yet. Is it valk? Zerker? Iam gonna solo and do small scale wvw I think! Any ideas ppl?
