Make sure that crystal hp is higher than frog hp. If it’s lower it’s possible you won’t get enough shards and you can’t finish the boss.
Just hit the crystal until two of your party members get a shard each one. They have to position on the rocks (back in acid) to ensure avoiding attacks. Don’t hit the crystal anymore in order to avoid lowering crystal hp in vain (2 shards each time are enough). When the Frog open the mouth just throw the 2 shards (the other 3 party members have to dodge the attack). At this point the frog become vulnerable/stunned… All the party members have to hit him! Repeat this way a few time…

Two extra-cuuuuute miniatures and the endless cat tonic (and maybe they’ll add more items in the future).
I also plan to equip my two characters with ascended amulets (one for every armor sets they have of course)… I’ll need some months of dailies to buy all these items!
Anyway if you are planning to buy nothing or you think you are done with one amulet+infusion then go for dyes… I’ve checked previous calculations: you only gain 5 golds every 20 laurels of dyes considering the 15% TP fee (supposing dyes are going for 15-19 silvers).

They’re talking about the coins you loot from a handful of champion / legendary creatures in dungeons. The mobs that give the token/coin/karma pouches usually have 15 silver on them as well, so the gilded infusion will kick that up to 18 silver; there are 2-3 mobs like that per path, as well as a handful of other mobs that have real silver rewards. If you do a lot of dungeons, that will ultimately be profitable.

World trash does drop coins on occasion, but not in any amounts that would justify buying that infusion; the vast bulk of your money from killing world trash comes from vendoring whites/blues/grays and opening bags, selling stuff on the TP not withstanding.

Note that you have to run a lot of dungeons for the gilded infusion to be worthwhile. You’re giving up ~8 gold worth of dyes to buy that infusion (6.8 gold after tossing them on the trading post), and at an extra 3 silver per dungeon champion kill, you’re looking at, realistically, a hundred dungeon completions before you see any profit from the infusion. Those infusions are for serious farmers or players with a fairly long time horizon, not people playing casually.

Your explanation is really interesting, anyway I’d evaluate it from a different point of view.

Let’s start with some calculations:

I take into consideration 2 of the most farmed dungeon paths.

CoF path 1 – First boss (10 silvers) – the second is a chest so nothing to boost – Last legendary boss (15 silvers) → Total gain with 20% buff is 5 silvers per run

AC path 2 – Spider Queen (10 silvers) – Kholer (10 silvers) – 2 champion skelks (5+5 silvers) – Legendary Howler (15 silvers) → Total gain with 20% buff is 9 silvers per run

Yes… You may need 100 or more runs of these paths to compensate the 6-8 golds from dyes. Anyway you keep wasting laurels if you buy dyes in order to get an immediate gain (and you can never save up for minipets or other cool items). With the gilded infusion you are done forever… You may need 1 month, 3 months or whatever to run a hundred dungeon paths… But then you’ll keep gain silvers without wasting your laurels.
Buying dyes, in my opinion, is a decent investment only for really casual players.

Now I think the real discussion is… Gilded or Karmic?
No one can really estimate if magic find infusion is really worth it because we don’t know how much it affects the drops… And if you already have a set or armor/trinkets with 160-200% MF in the end who cares about 20% more… Karma or Golds are a certainty.

As someone wrote Gilded is good only to run dungeons (coin drops from trash mobs in open world… is nothing)… The loot is not improved really much (only 5-9 silvers pre run) but in the long term it could be nice.

Karmic… is good for WvWvW, open world, and maybe it could affect even the karma reward for completing dungeons? So it’s for sure more versatile.
You can buy 15% more Orrian Jewelry Boxes with it… This means a better chance to get lodestones (and even the junk in these boxes sells well).
Maybe this one is more profitable…

I wonder which utility infusion to choose on my new ascended amulet when I’ll get 20 laurels so I’d like to listen to other players opinions/thoughts.
I want to use this infusion to gain more golds/drops but I’m not sure which one is better…

Karmic infusion (15% karma) – I would like to know if it works on karma items (like vials) too when equipped… I think it could be good while farming in Orr. Lots of events with a buff on karma could let me open more Orrian Jewelry Boxes (which are a nice way to convert karma in golds if lucky).

Gilded Infusion (20% gold from monsters) – I think this is nice if farming in dungeons cause it could boost the gold-drop from bosses… Anyway I don’t know if it’s good too while farming in maps cause I think normal mobs don’t drop money frequently…

Magical Infusion (20% magic find) – Here I can’t quantify the benefit… Will the improvement in drops be good enough to compense gold or karma of the other infusions?

I’m trying to craft Howler too… Glad I’m not the only one, I think it’s not a very common choice for a Legendary.
I have a Ranger too and I want a cool warhorn to combine with my axe… I think this one is the only decent warhorn ingame.
By far I have 77 mystic clovers, dungeon gift, bloodstone shard, obsidian shards and I’m close to gift of battle… same as you!
The problem now is to complete the stacks of T6 materials and ectos. Maybe I have to try to farm more in Cursed Shore with my magic find set, like someone suggested…
Gladly I have the precursor, I was lucky and I bought it for 40 golds on 26th January without knowing that in the 28th patch they would have added new cool effects. Now it doubled the price but it’s still a “cheap” precursor. I suggest you to simply buy it directly… There’s people who wasted 500+ golds in the Mystic Forge and didn’t got the precursor… Here we talk about an 80-golds precursor, I don’t see why to take the risk of wasting a tons of exotics in the Mystic Forge… Maybe the price will lower a bit, or maybe it will raise… I think it’s quite stable now…

They still come in the month they say it will, it doesnt matter which date it comes, since in reality it doesnt matter. The content is braught to the game to stay permanently, its not something thats only going to be played until the next patch. If it was like that, each old zone would be abandoned after each new patch, which isnt the case.

Except Living Story which is not a permanent content.
Except January patch which went live 1 month and a half after December patch.

January patch Flame & Frost part 1 went live on 28th: 3 days before February.
February patch Flame & Frost part 2 will go live on 26th, last 2 days of the month.
Why don’t you just skip 2 days and admit you are late with monthly contents? There will be nothing new in February, we will play the new patch in March, that’s the truth.

I was just waiting to see new effects of Howler cause I really want to craft one but… where are the footsteps? I can’t notice them very well. It seems quite the same Howler of pre-patch apart the head of the wolf moving, I guess, and a sort of white aura? The footsteps are that sort of water-dropping effect on the ground? I was hoping for something more evident, it’s difficult to notice them…

Eheh I didn’t crafted a Triforge a month ago even if I wanted it. I knew they were releasing ascended amulets soon or later (and now we know it’s SOON), it would have been a total waste of golds!

It was midnight, there were not many players and I thought we’d have had an hard time find people. I just found them in 2 minutes and we run the path in 14 mins.
I start thinking “no skipping” is a good way to skim good players.
Why is people skipping the bridge in CoF path 1? It’s fast, it’s an event and it’s rewarded with karma and 1.5 silvers (plus mob drops… my guildie dropped a rare from the champion).
I’m tired of people skipping paths.
I usually play in dungeon with my guild team, but when I have to go with PUGs in the future I’ll keep writing “No skipping”.

Oh I keep running path 1… maybe I have never noticed him… Now I’ll pay attention, it’s too cute!

As I’m an old Guild Wars 1 players I would like to share my thoughts too…
I agree with what you wrote.
I’ve played since betas… I’ve 2 level 80 characters and I don’t feel the need to max-level any more characters.
I’ve 3800 achievements points… And like you I feel I’m reaching an end.
I’ve run all the dungeons many many times, I’ve a tier 3 cultural armor (and many dungeon set and weapons), quite all the minipets, 100% map, almost finished all the jumpings, minidungeons, bosses… Crafting is boring so I leveled just 2 disciplines. I’ve more ascended rings than I need… I don’t feel the need to craft a legendary weapon cause it’s only a matter of boring gold-farming (if it was for karma-token-badges… I’d have already crafted it).
Now when I log in-game I ask myself “what do I do this evening?”… And trust me, it’s hard to find an aswer…
It’s only 5 months after release… I played GW1 for 3-4 years… and I feel it was really a more rewarding game! There were so many TITLES and EVERYONE could see you Title written under your character name. It was really prestigious to wear some titles…
Here… Who could notice your title? When you are in Lion’s Arch no one clicks on you to read your title. The only thing someone can notice is the star near your name if you have 100% map.
People need reasons to play, goals… And titles were an important goal in GW1.
Rewards? They were really really better in GW1… Every boss could drop a unique weapon! Every day you where wondering around the maps to kill bosses for the drop, opening chests, mapping and vanquish for the titles.
The coop mission were challenging (if you want to get the title)… there was even hard-mode for PvE!
And even if I wasn’t a great fan of PvP I enjoyed many times Fort Aspenwood fast 12vs12; Alliances Battles and Hero’s Ascent… I don’t even speak about GvG, the best PvP mode.
Where are the designers who put in game all these goals for hardcore players?

As I wrote you in a previous post about Simin come in my team (or let me join your team) so I can see with my eyes how pro you are at Simin. As you keep to boast, show your skills instead ok keeping writing how cool you are while running with PUGs. I’m really curious.
Or just try it with 2 Ranger/3 Eles (or Engineers)… And give me a video of the team killing Simin.
This path is not for everyone, it’s only for certain team with certain classes.
Only this boss is so kitten in this game as I’ve run ALL the paths of ALL the other dungeons (even path 1-2-3 Arah) with every combo of classes and equipment without any problem.

If you think the current cost is bad, these infusions used to cost 50 skillpoints each. Now they cost 5, which is much more reasonable.

The cost of infusions was cut by 90%, just like how one piece of non-purely-cosmetic armor should cost 7g (25 ectos) at most — instead of 70g (250 ectos) if it can only be bought with gold.

Well I have a Quiver and I bought it only for a cosmetic purpose (I have a Ranger as main characters and it’s a cool backpiece combined with longbow/shortbow)… I crafted the one with Ancient Bones, the cheapest… No way I’ll waste tons of expensive Tier 6 materials for the stats of the back (the lowest in game).
I wonder who is willing to spend 14 golds for 5 points in one stats… it’s crazy!
And I’ll never waste 250 ectos for an additional infusion cause there is no purpose in it… You need 30 AR only in very high level Fractals… I’ll just don’t play them :P

Cannot find the exact post, but I do seem to remember reading somewhere that the devs don’t plan to ‘update’ the Triforge Pendant.

Doesn’t matter though, I’m wearing it for the inventory icon alone. ;-)

That would really stop me from crafting the Pendant, cause it really will end-up it’ll become not worth the golds…
I wonder if people is buying the Triforges listed at the TP right now or if all of us are waiting for some news… Probably this item is already un-sold…

Anyway the idea to create a mystic forge recipe to upgrade the Triforge to Ascended is really nice! Well, hoping it wouldn’t be an expensive one, this amulet costs already really much.

They introduce Triforge (and also a lot of expensive weapons recipes in the Mystic Forge) before thinking to add the Ascended tier, so now the cost matters because in the future who will spend 100 golds on a trinket or weapon with lower stats than Ascended tier ones (supposing they will cost the same or less)?

Hi all!

It’s a while I’m thinking to craft a Triforge Pendant for my main character (I already have a full set with Sup Runes of Divinity, Ancient Karka Shell accessory, Ascended Lunaria ring…).
Anyway it’s really expensive and the chance they introduce other ascended trinkets, such as amulet or accessories, is here…
It would be nice to know if they are really planning to introduce ascended amulets soon, or if they are considering to upgrade existing Triforge Pendants to ascended tier for the players who already spent a ton of golds on them…

I love mini-dungeons.
I’ve organized two mini-dungeons tours right now for my guild and alliance. We were 20-30 players, I think most of them didn’t even know what mini-dungeons were before starting the tour… To prepare the tour I needed to read the wiki to find out where all the mini-dungeons are and what we were supposed to do. They all had great fun and what we most enjoyed was staying together: I mean, not only the same 5 people doing dungeon runs… This game need something to do with the entire guild… Something which give you feeling of union and fun.
When I organize bosses achievements tours and jumping puzzles tours all the guild members come because people want to do things together.
We had a “find the skritt burglar” evening, and so on…
Please Arenanet give us more achievements to enjoy all together and promote them!
Just yesterday we have done a lot of jumping puzzles together for the monthly. It would be nice to have some good reward too in order to repeat mini-dungeons and jumping puzzles again. Now after getting the achievement you don’t feel the need to repeat them… You may give a token every time you complete a jumping/mini-dungeons and put an NPC which gives rewards with a certain amount of these tokens such as special minipets or black lion keys or something else people could like…

We already knew all the suggestions, and how to run sparks in line, 4-1, that you can’t damage Simin while she’s stealthed anymore, etc. etc…
If the matter is party composition I would like to say this boss seems even more stupid to me. Why if we have accomplished every dungeon’s path with whatever team we wanted now we have to search other players with other classes? Isn’t this against their philosophy?
So it doesn’t matter your skillness. It counts that you have warriors (and mesmer/thief) level 80 full exotic/ascended berseker.
I’m not going to spend hours playing a warrior/mesmer till level 80 and golds to equipe him only to kill such a boss.
So if this is a class/equipe discriminating path I’ll let enjoy it for the lucky people who can.

Running sparks perfectly and finding the best spot to fight her is really important. It is possible and doesn’t involve luck. Each class has to do its role. I’ll end it by saying that ranger should not run sparks if the sparks take aggro.

We were not running sparks with Rangers, we wanted just to DPS her. But you can’t move with a Ranger in the central zone around the statue cause the pet keeps moving and he ruins the run for the two peoples who are aggroing sparks north/south.
You can pull Dwayna south, or north, away from the central statue and the sparks spawn zone, but then you force the 2 spark-runners to run before she get unstealthed to be in the correct position at the right moment, so you loose DPS, which you won’t loose fighting in the middle.
I only saw one video with a Ranger fighting Simin and obviously he was keeping the pet peaceful and stood far away immobile, doing ranged damage.

Anyway nothing will convince me to re-try this crap apart a fix. I have no desire to waste time anymore only for a title that now seems stupid to me. If I have 20 golds to waste one day maybe I’ll give them to some path-4 runner who sells spots, because I believe you can do this path: 2-3 full berserker warriors (or even 5) , NO rangers, maybe Mesmer with time warp… if you are in the lucky classes enjoy.

At Simin Priest of Dwayna you can’t do nothing as a Ranger cause your PET keeps aggroing this kitten sparks and then they don’t fit around the statue.
There nothing, nothing, more frustrating in this game than trying to fight Dwayna with a Ranger.
I don’t think ranger’s pet need an aggro fix, I think you have to let us rangers hide our pet if we want to and let him spawn again when we desire. Now we are forced to always keep the pet with us if we are in combat. Let us fight and move alone if we want.

My experience:

Yesterday we entered path 4 at 3 PM and we stood there till Midnight (only 1 hour afk to eat something for dinner), then we left without defeating Simin.

I premise we knew how difficult was this path. We read plenty of guides, we read forums and we watched a lot of videos of the battle with the Priest of Dwayna.
Our guild team needs only this path to get Dungeon Master title, we mastered all the other dungeon paths and, let me tell you, I laugh if I think of Sorrow’s Embrace path 1 compared to this crap.

In the beginning we lost 1 or 2 hours at Lupicus
1) This kitten NPC keeps fighting him in melee and he lets the final grub to spawn at his feet so he can eat it easily (and you wish so much this useless NPC could DIE)
2) At the end of phase 2 Lupicus kept bugging resetting to full HP even if we were fighting him in the aggro range! Please FIX it.
We never had such a terrible experience with Lupicus. First time in path 3 we beated him at the third attempt, in path 2 at the first try and in path 1 at the second…
Anyway, bugs apart, I love the fight with Lupicus, I think it is a smart designed boss.

Then Dwayna…
We were 2 Rangers, 2 Eles and 1 Mesmer/Thief/Ele (we had to swap the fifth guild member cause not everyone can stand 8 hours in a dungeon) all with high DPS…
First of all you HATE to be a Ranger: this kitten pet keeps aggroing sparks and goes wherever he wants. Do you try to swap him or recall with F3? No you can’t because you are gonna be petrified, downed, your swap-pet is recharging, you recall but he don’t move, he dies but he aggroes anyway!!! There is nothing more frustrating than this, trust me. Let us ranger hide our pet if we want to, please!
We felt so useless… You can’t be the two people who aggroes the sparks because with a pet it’s an impossible task. You just stand with your back attached to a wall hoping your pet wont move. The only position available was the south wall, while the two Eles run to aggro the sparks.
We did 4-1, our best was to get Simin at 50% and then 20% or so…
Then there was always a spark who won’t aggro, an Ele who got petrified at the moment he had to run, someone who got downed because after 8 hours we weren’t able to focus on the areas of the ground… :P

Yes, let your QA team go there with 5 full berseker warriors and then tell us you don’t think this path need a fix.
What have you done in the past patches? You fixed area skills which were damaging Simin when she was stealthed? That’s really the kind of fixes the game needed and we were waiting for.

2 days ago I saw someone on a website party-finder selling spots for the final boss of path 4 for 20 golds. I thought it was foolish to pay like this for a dungeon.
Now I think in 8 hours I could have earned more then 20 golds, even doing something fun.

Dungeon Master was my endgame goal. Now I don’t want it anymore. I won’t waste my time in this crap anymore until you fix it. Maybe next year.

Thanks Draygo! Finally I got the achievement (so easily I can’t believe it) and I feel I have to thank you for writing this guide here in the forums.
I was a bit skeptical but I decided to try with your suggestion cause I was feeling frustrating by toypocalipse and the teams I was playing with.
I managed to enter in the same team with my boyfriend (just sincroing when we pressed the button to enter toypocalipse) and we both put snowmans and catapults on opposite sides. Other 2 players started to follow this method… The fifth player put walls in the middle but the toys NEVER reached the dolyaks: they just exploded as they spawned, and it was fun!
We ended with 5 dolyaks alive with full bar! Amazing!

I just talked to Tixx in Lion’s Arch and got NO gift too!
If I talk to him again he doesn’t offer to me the option to claim it anymore.
I was not in the overflow, it was my main server…
So now have I missed Wintersday reward cause of a bug? I can’t believe it…

And don’t tell me you’ll resolve this bug sending items again by mail (like Lost Shore) to wrong users or letting people loot the chest again so we’ll have half players with 400 cogs. I have a feeling for Arenanet solutions to this kind of bugs.

I won’t write here in the forum (like during Halloween) “please give us a cute baby quaggan”cause I know now they will use this to make money with RNG. I won’t waste golds in the Mystic forge…. 5 golds spent and no endless tonic: I’ll destroy these useless frames occupying slots in my bank.
Next month I won’t just expect nothing cute or cool which is not 0,0001% RNG, gem-based or both.

Have you tried auto-attack (ctrl-right click) on bell skills? You can go afk and keep spamming (Lion’s Arch Bank is the best place)… Everyone will loooooove you eheheh :P

Yes PLEASE put Frames in the Gemstore for 350 gems! I would have bought my mini griffon and crafted the griffon tonic… But now I made a mini griffon with frame and there is no way to get both mini and tonic…
Please please give us a way..! I want a super-cute griffon tonic too…

Please immediately fix the announcement text to say that you can get materials for 2 out of 5 pets only. Otherwise, everybody who made the first two pets and finds out the third one is much more awesome will jump your throat.

They are putting the minis for 350 gems every day in Gem Store… So they’ll let you get only 2 so you’ll need to spend 1050 gems for the other 3 (and you have to buy gems 2 times since you get 800 per purchase)…

I thought only Baby Quaggan, Snowman and the other 2 minis in the chests were “gem-bound” but I was wrong…

In that case you’ll need 13 daily rewards to get all the minipets… I mean, people go to holidays during Christmas, it could be hard to get them all…

i remember reading somewhere that you will be able to go to each of them once Tixx makes it to Lions Arch by selecting the instance you want to do. Maybe you will be able to do each and get the daily reward from each instance to get all of them? just my thought anyway.

Anyway… I remember I read a dev writing we’ll get the necessary materials easily inside the dungeon so I thought it was dropped from monsters, not a daily reward…

So… I just ended the new dungeon and i got:

1) Ventari Frame
2) 100 Mystical Cogs (ACCOUNT BOUND)
3) 250 Enchanted stuffing or glue

Ventari Frame reports that you need 250 Mystical Cogs in order to create it, but you can’t get them since you don’t obtain Cogs during subsequent runs (even using other characters).
I guess you need 3 runs to get them? And that we have to wait 3 days (100 cogs per day?).
We’ll get the other minipet Frames without the material necessary to craft them…

I did this dungeon yesterday with my guild team: ele, 2 rangers, thief (shadow refuge FTW!) and guardian. I’m so proud we’ve done it cause I was considering this the most difficult dungeon path ever… We were discouraged after two failed attempts 1-2 months ago.
I was surprised how short this path is… After learning how to do it I think it’s the best path to farm tokens.
Other players have already given you the correct suggestions to try this path… Go DPS on the golem and… just a reminder for rangers: use piercing arrows trait or you won’t be able to hit it!

If you don’t want to know event details… Just don’t read them and enjoy your “surprise”.
The devs are trying to listening to their community, everyone was asking to know where we are supposed to be and when.
It’s also a wonderful thing they’ll let people enjoy all the events again when the ship will be in Lion’s Arch. I’m glad they stopped with the “one-time incredible event” policy, a lot of players were complaining they had to work, to sleep, they were away… Finally everyone can enjoy all the content during the Xmas period without anxiety… “oh my… if I won’t be online at the exact scheduled time I will miss something forever”.
I’m sure we’ll have a lot of fun this time

I agree with your thread. I’m so nostalgic of GW1… I would like so much an expansion for the old game.
Here… welcome with the new grind-treadmill gear politics! Farm and farm fractals every day and let alone your friends: you’ll need full exotic/ascended party of players of your same high level.
This game will become the umpteenth clone.

Starting the dungeon with PUGs is the most difficult option. PUGs at low levels haven’t learned how to play in the various fractals. Maybe they are running a fractal for the first time and they don’t know what to do and how to manage it. At higher levels PUGs have run fractals many times and probably they know what to do. But in the beginning it’s risky to play with random people… And veteran players, as I mentioned, are not motivated at all to play at initial levels for less tokens, no ascended reward, worse drop…

Wasn’t this the game who canceled the Holy Trinity? I was so happy to play everywhere, all the dungeons, with every party possible. All my friends (with all their classes) could join without problems, without any discrimination.
Not what have we achieved? The Holy Level instead of the Holy Trinity?

It should work if you have the same 5-players team every evening or so and you keep progressing together, unless someone disconnects and you have to start over again to get him at the same level. Chatting on Skype could be fun and could relieve the pain, but in the end you’ll feel frustrated.
If you have 7 or 8 people interested in the dungeon you can’t make two parties, so you have to play every level 2 times to let everyone progress.
And in the long term? When new players will join the game you have to help them maybe one by one from level one to level… 30? (or even more!)
I like the fractals too, they are all really really nice and well designed, but everything beautiful will get boring if you play it too much. And there it’s a matter of grinding and grinding again… You’ll like it the first 2 weeks, but after one month or I think most player will get bored to disconnects, don’t manage to find a party, feel left behind from old players and being forced to playing with PUGs… And I really believe in the future it will be really hard to search a party for odd numbers levels without daily chest reward.
