Ascended: Carrion and Valkyrie

Devs, both myself and large number of other people within the GW2 community would greatly appreciate some sort of Dev response to the question of whether or not Ascended Carrion and Valkyrie gear will be released.

The reason it’s important for some of us to know is, because If the answer is YES:

This would also allow a great number of your customers to proceed with their current builds without wasting any Laurels for different Ascended items that they never needed to get in the first place, because they now know that Carrion and Valkyrie are going to be released (as well as saving myself and others time in trying to re-invent our builds). So a simple “yes” (even without a fixed date or time-frame), would be hugely appreciated by a great number of your customers.

But even if the answer is NO (or “maybe”):

A simple no, or maybe (“maybe” as in, perhaps in the future, but not currently planned)would still be hugely appreciated, albeit, disappointing. Sure, a “No or Maybe” would no doubt result in a 150 post thread of QQ and over-the-top posturing by the usual folks … but so what. Because if there is no response at all, eventually that QQ thread will appear anyway, just a month or two months from now, and the QQ and ridiculous comments will only be that much greater. But if in fact it’s going to be a no, then you would be doing me a great favor in letting me know now, instead of later, thus allowing me to make the proper adjustments to my character build and current playstyle.

So Devs, please, give us a heads up on this issue, because I know you guys read these threads, or at the very least skim through them a bit.

Thank you.

Ascended v. Exotic Trinket Set

Pixels, thanks for the work you put into your comparson charts.

If I am reading this correctly (and correct me if I am wrong) are you saying that basically:

A full set of ZerkTrinkets gives a total stat increase of 6.1 % over exotics, with a “real world” effect of increasing your damage output ever-so-slighlty below 1%

As a basic summary, would the above be correct?

PS: And if true, could one safely extrapolate from that, a rough approximate of around 3.5% to 4.0% increased “real world” damage output for a complete full set of Ascended gear that includes weapon(s) and armor?

Is traiting in Water still worth it when ....

I’d argue that if the traits in the water line benefit you, then yes… if not, no.

I tend to trait my different ele builds based more around wanting certain traits instead of around the extra 100/200/300 pts in each line. It’s also nice if traits all work together… like vigorous scepter if you’re running s/d. Evasive Arcana if you’re using a lot of blast finishers. 30 in water and 10 in precision if I’m running a d/d aurashare. 10 in precision if I’m running a staff build with a lot of Glyphs and want the 20% CD reduction.

The nice thing about this game is you can tailor it to the style YOU want to play… so I’d turn the question around and ask, given how YOU want to play, do you think it’s necessary?

Slim thank you for your response, but more importantly, thank you for responding like a mature adult.

In essense, I think I am considering 20 in Fire for Fire’s Embrace, and then adding Elemental Shielding to my Earth line. I’m just curious as to whether that will grant me greater survivabilty than the 20 in water I have now.

Once again, thank you.

Hey guys, I would like some feedback on this question:

Is traiting in Water still worth it when …. you have ZERO gear that gives healing power AND you are running a 0/0/30/20/20 condition/signet build ? Or, would that 20 in water be better elsewhere?

Scepter/Dagger
Earth: II, IX, XII
Arcane IV and VI
(almost full Carrion gear with a little Precision gear and 6x Melandru runes)
(also, constantly running -cond. duration food).

As you can see, my build does not remove conditions or break stuns, basically it eats them – so i dont use the traditional III, V, or IX most people spec in water for the D/D build. Instead i go II and VI in water (or VIII instead of VI when in WvW).

Regular PvE and Dungeons 85% of the time, WvW 15% of the time, sPvP never …

For example: assuming you have 20 points in water, that would be 200 total healing power (an almost unnoticable increase to your healing). Given my build, is water really THAT good where going 10 to 30 deep (100 to 300 max healing power) in that trait line makes more sense than moving that 20 to Air or Fire?

Thank you.

Ele looking for a RP guild ...

in Guilds

Hi folks,

lvl 80 Ele here (NA worlds/servers) …

I’m looking to join a casual RP guild (age 18+ only) that has a large number of members.

However, I want to join a RP guild that runs DEs, Dungeons and maybe even a tiny bit of WvW. In other words, I’m not looking for a RP guild that never leaves LA or Divinity’s Reach, and ONLY role-plays. And lastly, while I fully intend to devote a decent amount of time to the guild and represent often, I have friends in another guild that I enjoy spending time with. So if your guild has a “must” represent at all times rule, or the guild officers feel it’s okay to whisper people something like, “represent now or be kicked”, – then I’m not interested. But let me say it one more time so I am not misunderstood … lol … I fully intend to devote a decent amount of time to the guild and represent often.

Any invites or direction would be most appreciated,

Dragon's Tooth and ground targeting?

in Elementalist

At some point, the devs are going to address the issues with Elementalist’s Scepter skills. And when that occurs, I believe the very first thing thast wll be looked at will be Fire skill 2, Dragon’s Tooth.

But please God (and Devs), don’t make Dragons Tooth ground-targeted, simply reduce the animation time a little bit.

Please Devs, do not add another GT skill to this weapon set.

Besides, reducing the hovering animation time would correct what everyone hates about this skill in it being too easy to run/dodge away from. In effect, reducing the hovering animation time would not be adding yet another ground-targeted skill while still allowing the possibilty of people being able to avoid the attack if they react quickly enough.

While this skill needs to be adjusted, I ask, just please, nothing drastic.

One of the reasons I adore Scepter as main-hand weapon is because of how few ground-targeted skills it has compared to staff. (yes, i know dagger MH has none). Please Devs, do not add another GT skill to this weapon set.

Current Topic Poll: Mid-Jan. 2013

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

1) Would you prefer ascended gear to be the last tier implemented for the remainder of GW2?

Yes.

2) Would you prefer ascended gear to be equal to exotic gear in all statistics except agony resistance?

Yes. Oh GOD yes … and as to those that already have the Asended rings and back pieces, fine – keep em. Simply stop the World of Warcraft gear-treadmill bleeding with those 3 items. Of course I know this will NOT happen.

3) Would you prefer the level cap to remain at 80 for the remainder of GW2?

Yes.

4) Would you prefer if WvW was set up on an equal playing field similar to PvP?

Yes.

5) Would you prefer if WvW / PvP / PvE had separate skill functionalities?

No.

6) Would you prefer if Magic Find was removed from the game completely?

Yes.

7) Would you prefer if Magic Find was divided equally amongst all party members?

Yes.

8) Is GW2 too ‘Grindy?’

No.

9) Does GW2 need less RNG?

Yes. ( I would prefer zilch/ZERO/none/nada RNG).

10) Has the Trading Post [and all its users/farmers] positively impacted the economy?

Overall, the TP is fine.

11) Do you have as much faith [and/or enthusiasm] about the game [and/or company] as you did before launch?

No. The second they very “suddenly” introduced Ascended gear and went ahead and turned PVE into vertical-progression gear-gated dungeon farming … The game company lost ALL creditability with me. The funny part is, that prior to the introduction of vertical progression into PVE with “Ascended” gear – all I ever did was sing the praises of this game to every single one of my friends. I told them that they could finally play a modern high-graphic MMO that had horizontal progression in all areas of the game, including PVE. Oh well, I guess the jokes on me, right …

12) Do you reasonably expect [many of] your primary concerns to be addressed in early 2013?

No. I have a strong feeling that they have a VERY clear vision and direction they are heading in, and it sure as heck is NOT the one the game was originally sold as.
