why are ppl in a hurry to rush to get to lvl 80? there is no end game stuff….. and almost everyone that hit lvl 80 left the game overall… everyone that I played with since it came out disappeared >.>;; sadly * Sigh *
well thats just how people are in MMORPGs. they wanna rush and rush and rush and do everything as fast as possible and then once its done, they whine and cry about not having anything to rush and rush and rush through.
buncha idiots if you ask me.
then there is the Crush Cubs in Ashford, running around with the Ghosts. the ones you have to protect, and then after you kill all the ghosts they say “Rawr the Ghosts were scared of us, our warband is the best ever!”
I actually like most of the Charr armors…
“I think we should feed the Humans to the dragons. Then kill the Dragons.”
“You’re stupid, they won’t eat the Humans, they’ll throw them at us.”
Why not make Teleports cost a small amount of Karma instead of Coin?
even at level 22, I have way, way, way more Karma than I know what to do with, but I’m hurting for coin.
He is located in the Gladium quarter of the Black Citadel.
Is this Urvan Steelbane from the Blood Legion 1-10 storyline?
They are awesome.
I love running around the Charr areas and just hearing the Charr Cub chatter.
what has been said already, they raised the server caps right before the Wintersday Patch.
I think the Charr Holiday should be the Anniversary of retaking Ascalon.
Good ideas.
and Asura lead most of the events thus far anyway from what I’ve read, we don’t really need to come up with any more for them.
I am just wondering why I have to pay to travel to a waypoint when I die.
down in the Gladium section of the Black Citadel.
Is that Urvan Steelbane from the Blood Legion storyline?
so…basically, all the Engineer is/was good for is/was switching to the Grenade kit and pressing 1 over and over again?
is that what you are telling me?
Serious question, because I am leveling an Engineer right now. But I guess is 100% of the class is absolutely, 100% useless outside of a single solitary skill in one kit….then whats the point of leveling one, even without the 30% nerf to Grenade 1 damage.
guess I’ll go back to looking for another class to play. One-button spamming is no fun. I understand that some of you enjoyed the “spam 1 grenade repeatedly” gameplay before it was nerfed, but it just sounds ridiculously boring.

You’re not using that horrible keyboard turning thing are you?
Naw.
I hold down the right mouse button and strafe with a/d while using the mouse to steer.
This is a problem with nearly every fantasy MMO I have played.
I find Melee combat to be very difficult in PVP.
I can’t call it, exactly why I am having issued with it, it just seems awkward to me, and I’m never any good at it. which is why I almost always shun melee-based classes.
Maybe it’s the fact that mouse/kb controls throw me off or something.
any tips to help me become better at melee?
I don’t know about the rest of this thread, but I just wanted to say that Eir Stegalkin is way hotter than she has any right to be.
So, after trying numerous race/profession combinations, I am down to:
Charr(Iron Legion) Engineer
Charr (Ash Legion) Thief
Norn Elementalist
Norn or Charr(Blood or Ash Legion) Mesmer.
still have to put some practice into the last two, i haven’t played them enough to garner a real opinion.
anyone have any suggestions that might lean me one way or the other? I’m pretty much looking for a fairly versatile ranged profession. and Charr are my favorite race thus far, followed closely by Norn.
at the moment I am seriously leaning towards continuing with my Engineer, but I am also trying the other professions, just in case I find something I may like better. for example, dual pistols on my thief is really fun. there are certain things I like about all the professions listed though, and some things I don’t like.
If I were a charr, I’d be looking at that airship with a lot of envy. Who knows, maybe someday we’ll see a competition.
I’m sure that the Iron Legion will be spending inordinate amounts of time considering the military applications of this flying Toy Factory.
I find that Combo fields are very neglected overall in this game.
I like to try and use them as much as I can, but I haven’t memorized which skills cause what Combos and such yet.
went to sPVP to try some things.
I didn’t like the Tool Kit as much as I thought I would. prefer ranged combat for the most part. Flamethrower is fun, as is the Elixir Gun.
Haven’t really tried Bombs or Grenades.
Is there any particular lore behind WvWvW? even some small, superficial reasoning for the so-called Mist War?
Or is it a completely suspend-belief, non-canon type of situation?
if any lore at all exists, can someone point me towards it so I can read it? (Lore Junkie here heh)
I’m assuming that there is no real lore behind sPVP, it seems more like a out-of-game Esport thing.
Any suggestions for how to spec one?
I’d like to mainly focus on being a versatile team asset through swapping Kits depending on the situation.
Flamethrower Kit, Med Kit, Tool Kit, Elixir Gun Kit, mainly.
bomb and grenades for giggles.
so far, I am not really a big fan of the turrets, except for the Healing Turret, and there doesn’t seem to be any traits that affect its effectiveness, beyond the one to make it tougher.
Most whiners on the forums are the people who rushed to 80 and want more endgame so just remember to explore the world and enjoy your time. Being lvl 80 is not the main goal in this game but rather to see how many cool things you can find on the way.
basically this.
Enjoy the Journey, I say.
ah thats good to know.
I may just hop into WvW for a change of leveling pace here and there, but I’ll still mostly be PVE until i hit max.
Do you get general character XP for WvW actions?
can I split leveling up time between PVE and WvW?
or is it just PVE till 80, then WvW?
Just what we need. Our RP servers split even further to not have anyone to RP with. Keep trying to get on TC. A few days ago our server was ‘very heavy’ at around 5pm eastern time. Its not always full… keep trying.
We can’t get on Tarnished Coast. So we don’t affect whether you have people to RP with or not. If those of us not on TC get together on another server, it won’t “split” your RP Population that we do not have access to.
That said, is there even enough non TC RPers to gather on another server, to begin with?
First MMO? Every MMO forum on the internet is exactly the same as this one, these people move form game to game in an attempt to mold it to there own wishes and desires, many times killing those games.
I have a feeling GW2 will be just fine though, ignore the trolls Because that is all most of them are.
No. been playing MMOs since Everquest. I understand this.
This forum is a bit worse with it, than some other MMOs I’ve played, though.
was just an observation on the tone of this particular sub-forum.
as a new player, I am finding that it is a matter of “casual cooperation”.
then again I have not gotten high enough for dungeons yet.
but it seems like, player don’t party up, so to speak, but rather, they solo and if you happen to come across another player in the area, its understood that you’ll work together to finish whatever event/activity is currently happening. then you go your separate ways.
there is cooperation, but not much chatter so far. at least early in the game, in Ascalon.
at all? even a little bit?
Reading this forum as a new player, I get the impression that this is one of the worst MMOs on the market.
I’m probably going to catch flack for saying this, but I certainly wouldn’t mind TC’s population splitting into two servers: one for players who just enjoy role-playing as if their character is part of the game’s world, and one for players who would probably be more happy being actors on Broadway.
Really not trying to be offensive.. just (as a long-time MMO fan) very sad that the former type has become such a rarity on RP servers. It’s so rare to find people who don’t care about rolling without a preconceived script. And if that describes you, OP, take comfort in the fact that you’re not missing much.
Was fortunate enough to have an absolute blast with a fellow Asura and a broken keep door a couple months back, though.
I’m a more casual RPer I’d say. I don’t just sit in a tavern and “RP”. thats not my thing. but if you approach me while I am out doing quests and such in a game, and you approach me In-Character, I’ll respond in kind.
What I’d like is to not have my guild’s influence wasted on a full-guild server transfer.
I’m sorry you can’t get in, but we RP guilds are fairly entrenched here on TC. It’s no more reasonable for us to move than it is to tell you to simply be patient and keep trying.
Besides, “unofficial” is the key word here. There is nothing official slating TC as an RP server. So, if you can round up enough people behind you, you can just as easily start an RP population on a different server, just as the OP is trying to do.
My intention was not to demand that Tarnished Coast people move to another server, or anything like that.
but rather, for those of us who cannot get on Tarnished Coast and are spread out on other servers, to band together on a secondary server, rather than banging our heads on the “Server Is Full” wall repeatedly.
DPS Meters are the single worst thing that has ever happened to the MMORPG genre.
and we can thank WoW addons for that.
Trying to decide what my second crafting skill should be, on my Thief.
Thief is Pistol focused, and his first Craft skill is Huntsman, so I can make Pistols for myself, mainly.
suggestions for a second craft?
In the NA region i mean.
“set your alarm to zero-dark-thirty and try to transfer to Tarnished Coast then” is not a real solution. Neither is, “play on the Europe Server”. It full, even at zero-dark-thirty. I know, I literally stayed up all night playing and trying to get into Tarnished Coast. It was full, literally the entire night, and I have never seen it not full.
so can we can’t-get-on-Tarnished-Coast RP guys band together and collectively pick a new server that isn’t full 24/7?
Why not combine Vital Shot and Body Shot into a Combo in the 1 slot.
Attack 1 – Vital Shot – Main Pistol (Right Hand)
Attack 2 – Body Shot – Second Pistol (Left Hand) – instead of 5 stacks of Vuln per shot, make it 1 or 2 stacks.
Stealth – Sneak Attack

How can I integrate steal into a Pistol-focused playstyle?
I chose to try Thief because it was one of the only two classes that can use Pistols as a Main Hand Weapon, and I already tried Engineer for a bit.
Run P/D, take stealth-on-steal for free sneak attacks + closers for C&D as soon as revealed wears off.
I’ll give it a shot. Having a lot of fun with Pistol/Pistol thus far. though I hear it is like utterly useless at high levels, or whatever.

how long does the Stolen Skill last if you don’t use it?
like, can I steal something at the end of one fight, and save it until I get into another one?
in the long run?
or is it something of a novelty?
Maybe I am just not “getting it” yet, but I just started with this new thief, but Stealing doesn’t seem to benefit me much right now.
does it get better?
Talking at least Main Hand Pistol. preferably Dual Wield.
which do you find more fun, overall?
I understand this but why would people base their “mains” on PvE, when presumably PvE will only lead to the ultimate goal: getting the armor needed to pvp in WvW?
I mean, isn’t PvE only a temporary thing for endgame armor? ._.
I guess i shouldn’t say till i actually test the war/guard for myself…=S
just because the ony reason you play is WvW, does not mean that is true for everyone else.
it’s funny how people insist on forcing their own playstyles on everyone else.
anyhow, to answer your question, at least from my limited experience, Guardian is incredibly fun. thats why I’ve decided to make a Guardian my main. not a matter of being “easy” or anything for me. It’s just more fun.
I have tried Guardian, Engineer, Thief, Mesmer, and Necromancer. I just have more fun with my hammer-wielding Guardian, hands down.
never played Warrior.
(edited by JMadFour.9730)
Just wanna say, that the Blood Legion intro cinematic is the best I’ve seen out of all the Characters I have tried thus far. (my Guardian is Blood Legion).
I would say Asura since I have an Asura Engineer. But it kinda makes more sense for an Engineer to be Charr. That is, until they release race-specific turrets.
race specific turrets would be awesome.
the graphics on the turrets don’t fit Asura, imo.
I got a Charr Guardian, a Charr Engineer, and an Asura Engineer.
can’t decide which one I am going to main. bleh.
really liking the Engineer so far (level 13) but I just can’t decide between Charr and Asura.
Guardian is pretty fun too.
pretty tough decision.
GW2 has to be the worst MMO ever created, if judging by these forums.
just sayin’.
also, every player on every MMO forum has an empty friends list that used to be full to capacity with players. Every single MMO’s forum. even the super successful ones.
I am deleting the email address associated with this game, because it was compromised elsewhere.
I need to change the email on my GW2 account to my new email. I don’t want to be locked out of my account and/or have to pay again for this game on a new account.
any help?
the number 1 problem is people rushing through the content and not enjoying the journey.
absolutely. and then they take to the forums to whine about how EVERYTHING about whatever game they rushed through sucks.
par for the course for MMO forums. 2nd worst set of game forum posters in all of gaming. the worst being Console FPSer players.
because people are anti-social and/or they just don’t have any social skills at all. they should be playing single-player games, so that they don’t have to worry about us social heathens ruining their life by trying to be friendly.
