Lemme ask something about the Flamethrower kit.
I’ve seen it complained that the Flamethrower has no tube connecting it to the backpack, when it should, and wondering where the Flamethrower ammo comes from.
Has anyone looked at the Flamethrower kit? I mean REALLY looked at it, and zoomed in?
The Flamethrower itself has a top-loaded cartridge of some sort of flammable liquid.
the Backpack has a tank filled with the flammable liquid, and it feeds into a replacement cartridge on the side, identical to the one top-loaded onto the Flamethrower.
so it looks like what is missing there, is a reload animation, which would likely be attributed to gameplay reasons, as if you had to reload the flamethrower, every gun type weapon would have to have a reload as well.
also, we could probably do without the actual backpack, just let the tank itself sit on our backs.

was able to log in on existing characters with no problem.

apparently there was a new build released today. ever since downloading it, my game has been completely freezing on the Character Select, and especially Character Creation. when trying to make a new character, the graphics for selecting a profession or customizing the character do not load. you can go back to character select, at which point the game freezes, and the only way to get out is to hold the power button to shut the computer down.
I haven’t tried to log in with my existing characters, but I will in a few minutes.
this particular issue has only happened since I’ve downloaded the most recent build. I played until about 3am last night and the game worked perfectly.

The basic, I get, is that Shotgun(oops I mean Rifle /eyeroll) is a Power/Prec weapon, and Pistol is a Condition Damage weapon. Is that correct?
So now for the Engineer Kits, turrets and gadgets, Which skill types go with which stat priority set, generally?

Right now there are two things I’m very unhappy with in the game.
- The new trait system needs to be fixed: too many traits are unlocked in areas that you can’t do at the level you should get access to them
- not enough skills: being stuck with only 2-5 skills per weapon is limiting builds. If they gave us just double what we have now(10 for 2-handed, 6 for 1-handed, and 4 for offhand) we could have more than 1 meta-build per profession
I’d love to see more weapon skills added to the game, allowing us to swap them out the same way we swap out utility skills.

Where’s the “It would be better without the trait rework” option?
The trait rework or the new trait window? Cause the rework was fine just the new window is annoying as crap.
Having to wait until level 50 just to get a single adept trait you should already have to start with is fine?
I got my first adept trait at 36…?

What makes rifle more interesting than any other weapon? The animations for it are almost completely identical on skills 1 through 4. Shooting flaming arrows all with unique animations seems a lot more interesting to me.
for me it is the Soldier-esque feel of being Heavy Armored with a Rifle. and the way the Rifle skills operate (especially while moving). also the sound and graphics (like the muzzle-flash, for instance) of firing a rifle are really nice as well. I don’t get the same feel with a Bow. Using a Rifle as a Warrior I feel like a Soldier-type. Using a Bow, I feel like I should have rolled a Ranger and got a Bear Pet. Then again, I am not an extreme min/maxer so I’m not going to bend out of shape or play something I don’t enjoy for 5% more damage numbers. If that means I get kicked out of every group I join because I’m not using a Bow or whatever the only “Viable” melee weapon is, then I guess that’s what it has to be.
I will say that I wish the Rifle had some sort of AOE damage. I’ve been using Fire Sigils for that, but lack of AoE is very much a shortcoming of the weaponset. I’ve been using a GS as my 2nd weapon for that very reason. May try a Bow again as a secondary weapon, just for that.

Actually if you’re after straight up damage output with a rifle it’s best to autoattack and do volley off cooldown, completely ignoring the other skills. #4 would only be relevant if it didn’t have such a long cast time.
does Rifle 4 stack with “On My Mark” and Rending Strikes?

the “Chosen One Hero” approach makes GW2 seem more like a single-player game, than a MMO, imo. that’s the one issue that I have so far with the Personal Story (which I have not yet finished). Nobody else playing the game matters, cause I’m the only hero.
the overall story of GW2, and the Living Story should be more about the whole of Tyria banding together to fight evil, not just one guy and his 2 or 3 NPC friends fighting 1 guy and his evil army.

so now I am level 35, and about to put together a half-decent set of armor for dabbling in WvW.
my question is this, as a Rifle/GS Warrior, what is my stat priority? Power, and then what?
Power/Precision/Toughness? Do I want condition damage at all, for the Bleeds? Do I want Ferocity?
I’m not asking for someone to give me a build to copy, I’m just asking for some philosophy here.
also, I’m looking at the Wiki, and there seems to be no Power/Toughness prefix. wonder why that is.

1) no we did not, a lot of servers still have own identity and transfering guilds did not changed it
2) no it cant because of overflow system. Even if my whole guild is going into EOTM we must use taxi system otherwise we ends up in different overflows. This way it will be much harder to build some identity if you never knwo who will you play with and you will need to look for them on some voice comm

oh there are still overflows? I thought the Megaserver system was supposed to do away with those.

In the interest of furthering discussion, I ask this:
Seems that the largest concern regarding something like this would be the loss of Server Community/Identity/Culture.
1) Haven’t we begun losing this already due to everyone being merged outside of WvW?
2) Could the Server Community/Culture be rebuilt as Faction Pride, the way it was done in DAoC?
3) Theoretically, could the Megaserver even HANDLE full WvW?

personally I really like the vocalizations. i think it adds to my character, particularly when it comes to Shouts.
that said, I don’t see how adding the option to mute them would be a bad thing.

just want to preface this with the fact that I have very little WvW experience (little nervous about jumping in, when I haven’t leveled all the way up yet), so I’m just asking a theoretical question here to you full-time WvWers.
according to the Wiki page for EoTM:
Worlds will be matched according to which color they are in the current WvW matchup. For example, all green worlds will be on the same team in the Edge of the Mists.
so EoTM is not truly server-based, in its matchups?
How would you feel if EoTM were a testing ground for bringing the Megaserver System into WvW, and if at some point they replaced Server Matchups with a full-time Faction-based WvW war, a la Kurzick vs Luxon in GW1, but with 3 factions?

I’m not a guild, obviously, it is just me. I’ve been back playing for a couple of weeks now (trying out all different kinds of characters to decide which one to main), and I think I’ve finally settled on a Main (Rifle Warrior).
I’m looking for a Yak’s Bend guild, and I’ve never seen one advertised in any game chat or in the Guild Recruitment on this forum.
right now I am just leveling up, still lowbie on my Warrior, but eventually I plan on splitting my game time between PVE stuff and WvW. I’m obviously not ready for WvW yet though.
is there another place I should be going to find YB-based Guilds?

so being able to swap places with a clone that doesn’t exist anymore is a “defensive part of the skill set”? that really does sound like a bug to me. was the Mesmer meant to swap places with nothing?
because that patch note does not say you can’t switch places with the clone anymore. it says you can’t switch with the clone if the clone is already gone. i.e. the clone has to exist, in order to switch places with it.

I had to go to work tonight. in fact I just got home.
about 10 minutes before I left for work the update finished downloading. I logged into GW2. I promptly logged back out, turned my computer off and then left for work. LS episode unlocked, for whenever I feel like playing it.
Please don’t make this out to be a matter of people not having lives being able to play while people who have jobs don’t. it’s not the case at all.
the 5 minutes you spent making this thread, could have easily been spent logging in and out of GW2 in order to unlock the LS content.
the Living Story is constant, and changing. If you are not there for it, you miss it. simple as that. I was not here for Season 1, and therefore it is gone, done, and over with, and I missed it. this is nothing for me to complain about. I was not playing GW2 at the time, so I do not get that content. that’s fair, imo. If I miss the timeframe for the time-limited content, then I don’t DESERVE to get it for free. I just move on to the next piece of time-limited content.
being able to pay to unlock it later, is a bonus, as far as I’m concerned. I don’t shed tears for content that I missed.
if you happen to be SOOOOOO busy that you cannot spare 5 minutes to log in and unlock the content, then I don’t really see how you’ll have time to play that content later anyhow, even if they gave it to you for free.

from what I understand (and I’m nowhere near endgame yet), basically it boils down to:
WvW
Structured PVP
PVE Dungeons
Exploration and Map Completion
Fractals of the Mists
Living Story
World Events
that is listed in no particular order.
that’s the basic endgame for GW2.
what you will NOT find, is Raids and Raid Tier Equipment. and this seems to be one of the main sources of major forum complaintfests, as Raids and Raid Tier Equipment is the entirety of the endgame for pretty much every other MMO out there.

In that case, Greatsword. For both PvE and WvW. It gives you great mobility, thus you can travel faster.
Also, don’t be surprised if you use GS more then Rifle, because Hundred Blades and Whirlwind are amazing in PvE.
Free tip; try to level up in EotM. Can get ~3 levels per hour with a decent commander.
wasn’t gonna even think about WvW until I can equip an Elite skill.
Greatsword huh. for some reason I was actively avoiding that particular weapon . maybe a perception thing. I’ll check it out though.

well, i’m still pretty low level, so pve for now. eventually once i am leveled up i’d split my time between pve and WvW. not terribly interest in the esports pvp though( i could probaby be bribed into it, maybe).

just starting out with a Rifle Warrior, Currently using Rifle/Hammer.
wondering if I might be better served, dropping Hammer and using Axe/Axe or Sword/Sword as my 2nd weapon set.
my idea basically is that my second weapon set is pretty much only to compensate for the lack of AOE on the Rifle. so being able to deal with multiple enemies is first priority in picking my 2nd weapon(which is why i initially went with Hammer).
that said, I love the Rifle on the Warrior so far(really liking the “Soldier”-esque vibe of the heavily armored Warrior with a Big Kitten Gun), and the Rifle Skills are pretty much the only reason I am playing a Warrior instead of an Engineer(oddly, the Warrior’s Rifle Skills seem, to me, to be much better, much more fun to use). so it’ll always be Rifle/X, No matter what(so no point in trying to talk me out of Rifle). I’m just trying to determine what that Secondary weapon is going to be.
suggestions on which way I should go in this regard?

That’s the one! yeah, It does seem like any magic a warrior would have is more primevil than the typical sigils and incantations. Kind of how the devs described guardian powers to elementalists. They are probably less casting spells and more channeling magic power into their attacks to bolster them.

I think we’ll find Malyck’s tree, and it will consist of Sylvari minions of Mordremoth. Malyck went to find his tree…and didn’t like what he found, and now we have to rescue him.
and we’ll discover that the playable Sylvari were meant to be his Minions, but their tree was altered by Ventari’s Tablet.

The only way to transfer for free is to delete all of your characters. Otherwise it costs gems, or gold which may be converted into gems. It’s not cheap.
Right now the main factor determined by your world is WvW. My guild is a PvX guild with a strong focus on WvW, so we expect all members to be willing to transfer, or to already be on our server.
Nah, I’m gonna stay on Yak’s Bend. just might take a while for me to find a guild there, and that’s fine.

I wasn’t commenting on the OP’s idea – which if you must know I feel will never happen. I was replying to your points…
1) That GW2 wouldn’t be GW2 anymore. Well we’ve already been down that road. GW2, today, is not the game that was sold to many of us.
2) That we came here for something other than a WoW knock-off. I came here for, again, what was advertised to me in said Manifesto.I’ve every right to feel cheated in that regard. Also – I never mentioned Ascended gear.
so then outside of Ascended Gear, what’s not GW2 about GW2?

GW2 does not need that level of changes. if Arenanet did a ARR-level fix to this game, it 1) Wouldn’t be GW2 anymore, and 2)You wouldn’t like it, because everything that makes GW2 what it is would be gone, in favor of a highly polished WoW knock-off. and I could have sworn that the lot of you came to GW2 to get away from WoW knock-offs.

and how apparently the current GW2 is so 100% completely different from whatever the Manifesto said it would be. I often wonder if the game is indeed completely 100% different from the Manifesto, or if people are just mad about ascended gear.

The creator of this thread, i think, doesn’t quite understand just how massive an overhaul that A Realm Reborn really was. they didn’t just take the game down, fix it, and then bring it back up.
they trashed 85% of the game(keeping Locations, Races, classes and NPCs), and basically made a new game from scratch. FF14 was different, for better or worse. they threw everything that made FF14 different out, and replaced it with a very highly polished, wonderfully animated, beautiful, WoW clone.

GW2 is different. but it’s not nearly as bad as FF14 was. comparing making GW2 changes to ARR is a highly drastic way to ask for changes.
don’t get me wrong, ARR is a fantastic success story in MMOs, and I played it to max level and enjoyed it. The game world rivals Tyria for beauty, imo. I have trouble deciding which is more gorgeous, as I consider both Eorzea and Tyria to be the 2 most beautiful game worlds in all of MMORPGs.
but gameplay-wise, it’s WoW with different graphics, different races, and the ability to change you class at will.

instead of making a new post in this forum, I am simply going to raise this one to the top, because the majority of it still applies.
the only thing that has changed, is that I am on Yak’s Bend now. I’m not sure how important that is, with all the megaserver stuff.
as I have been gone for so long, and things have seemingly changed so much. and i never got really high the last time anyway, I’ve decided to start over. I spent a little time going through various classes over the past week, and have settled on a Hammer-wielding Guardian.

I know that in WoW(and other games), you can do things like Access the Auction House, Guild Chat, browse item databases and things like that while outside of the game, on a website, or a mobile app.
does GW2 have anything like this, besides the Official Wiki linked at the top of this site?
basically looking for something similar to Wowhead, and a way to at least view the Trading Post and things like that.
I looked on the Google Play Store for apps, and the vast majority of them seem to be Event Timers, and I’m not sure which ones are the most popular/used/respected/trusthworthy.
