In WoW the weapon’s “cast time” is the weapon speed.

That’s the point. Wow weapon “cast time” is the weapon speed.
Here in GW2 weapon cast time + weapon speed = more delays
Playing melee in Wow or even RIFT is like typing with a keyboard.
But playing melee for GW2 is like typing with an old typewriter.

Zsymon – In short, the problem is Attack Delay. We are melee and 90% of our attacks need to be in melee range, we cant have an Attack Delay cause we will miss and skills will go on recharge.

You can move while you attack.

Agreed that there is slight delay with melee instant attack on other mmos including wow. There should be a delay or there are no animation. Yes.
But here in GW2 there is that delay + casting time for melee attacks.
That is the difference.

1) Warriors are extremely viable for PvE & sPvP but not WvW.
Long range attack are on long cds and some just tickles or need target to be in a campfire at a spot to do damage in WvW.

2)The BEST way and the First Tweak to the Warrior class is to Remove Casting Time (1/2,1/4,1,2 etc etc casting times and mind me, those are attacks skills & movement skills which is crucial for a melee class)
So in short yep just a Tweak. Its all good if we know how to play it right after that.

And just Trolling? O you dont wanna see me troll trust me matey if you now me from WoW, Loong – Power of Dragons, RIFT etc etc… furthermore our in-game id is shown here i dont have to troll trust me.
Anyways thats my opinion, i wanna know what others think especially the Developers – Arenanet. Why are there casting bars for melees? Are we Short Range Casters?

What are you even talking about.

You have a ‘cast bar’ because that is for the animation of your swing.

Do you think you should just walk into melee range and suddenly the enemy takes 1000 damage in 0.1 sec because you pushed 11111111111111111 real quick?

lol just walk into melee range without a single hit by the opponents? Just walk? Riiiight.
Firstly i dont have to spam 1111111111111111111 real quick cause its on auto attack.
Secondly, GW2 Limited Melee attack skills on the skill bar we are forced to auto attack. When other skills are on cd.
Thirdly i think there’s a way to Dodge or Stealth or Block or Blind or Bash or Stun or KD or Running in this game, so why worry bout getting 1000+ hit by a Warrior that walk/rush/dash at ya? hmm…..

By the way do you even play other mmorpg in the first place.
And do you know that melees in every mmos DO NOT have a cast bar for attacks unless its a spell. And if im not wrong all melees in those mmos instant attacks provide an animation swing isnt it

*Fanboys Corner : so go play those mmos? yea been playing a couple of mmos and still playing no worries

Let me rephrase that.
Are we Warriors or Shot Range Casters?
I believe all melee skills should not have casting time at all.
It should be instant. Why?
errr Melee? lol!

Alright seriously now, melee have to go all the way into close range to hit.
Not by getting into close range to cast! Cmon.
Furthermore before we could even make a hit we are already been bombarded with all sorts of dps & conditions from range. In WvW especially.
So why is the casting for?
To make us miss after suffering from all those dps & conditions?

And please if i wanna do range dps 60-80% of the time in WvW i rather roll a Ranger or Caster. Sorry but i dont maxed out my Warrior to do all that.

So Arenanet, please kindly enlightened us. Are we Warriors or are we Short Range Casters?

That indicates the skill is casting.

Try it with an instant cast skill. There is no blinking.

No blinking yes but still its delayed. Not instant.
Try these for Mesmers : Phase Retreat or Decoy
Instant skills with no casting time but still there is delay. Do it couple of times you’ll noticed it.
Still feel like playing with an old typewriter where other mmos instant skills are instant.
This is not comparing. It is just to prove my point.
If you played RIFT, try click the squirrel skill as a mage. Its instant and its cast instantly!
Zero delay.

Thats what i meant. Dont get me wrong, im trying to make this game better not promoting other mmos. I left those mmos cause im in love with GW2 Graphics and Gameplay but these delays are kinda disappointing

I’m still trying to understand why melee abilities have a cast time in the first place. Does my character needs to think about it to swing an axe? Melee combat is fast paced and inherently more dangerous than ranged combat. I can see having minimal cast times as a ranged caster, but as a melee combatant?!? They already go out of their way to make sure not to make warriors durable enough for sustained melee fighting…the least they can do is to let our abilities work when we click them..not seconds later.

Exactly!
Rush and Leap too. Melees need to fart first before they do those actions.
Or trying to tell the target to be ready cause we gonna rush or leap at you lol!

Primary : Ability Delays
This is the first thing that Must be fixed a.s.a.p as an action mmorpg.
Seriously feel like playing the game with an old typewriter instead of my keyboard.
Why? Because skills will blink once or twice before my toon start to do anything.

Secondly: Melee Attacks
Melee attacks should stop attacking once target is out of range or better, could not be activated if target is out of range or already dead.
Why? Cause the skill will go on recharge. Its a waste of cooldown for a melee class.
I bet in real combat you wont keep swinging your sword at the same spot when your target is already out of reach. Its silly.
Its either the skill could not be cast or it should stop immediately.
A good example is Flurry. Once activated and target with condition removal is running away or gonna bash you up, you cant even dodge or move at times cause the skill keep doing the full effect.

Once again Arenanet, please look into all these. Other than that the game is fine and with the Expansions later on it will be Awesome! But please fixed all these a.s.a.p.

There is such a noticeable delay on all classes. It is definitely not intended and has nothing to do with animations. There is a noticeable delay between key press and ability execution.

Exactly. For those who have not noticed it already, try this.
(Lags aside please, as we all know what lag is. Thankyou.)

First test:
Press Skill 1, of any class or race, you will notice it will blink once or twice before your toon start doing anything everytime.

Second test: (Only if you played other mmorpgs. For me i took WoW or RIFT as an example.)
Press Skill 1, of any class or race, my toon instanly react to it without any delay everytime.

Its like hitting letter A on your keyboard and A immediately appear.
But for this game its like i’m typing with an old typewriter instead of my computer.
Its true.

I’m sure Arenanet is aware of this. And i hope they will fix this a.s.a.p.

Yay on Sunday October 28th mid-day pacific time we gonna have a fast & fluid combat with no more skills delay. Skills wont blink twice no more before my toon start doing something cause my toon wont fart first before he attack/leap. Yayyyy!!!

Firstly as an action or even “action” mmorpg or any mmorpg, there should not be any delays on attacks (including auto attack).

Test it. Try clicking 1 and you’ll see it took time to active the skill. Not immediately.
I even noticed skill 1 blinking twice or 3 times before the action starts.

Fyi its not lag cause there are no skill delays in any mmorpgs that i’ve played.

Coming from an L50 full exotics, overall the game is Great.
If Arenanet could tune up the combat speed a little like they did with the camera with the recent update, it would be Perfect!

Greatsword & Sword attack range.

(Excluding gap closer skills)
Sword – Range: 130
Greatsword – Range 130
Currently both share the same attack range.

As i believe GS are much longer in terms of length than a Normal Sword.
Therefore it should have a longer attack range. Bout 230+

Well almost for worth $60 for me.
I’m already with Full Exotics excluding Backpack (No Exotics for this one)
but as i’ve said almost worth $60 due to the combat.

No the combat aint fast and smooth as an action mmo should be.
There are always 0.5s-1s delay in almost every skill pressed.
And Skills continue the full effect even when target is out of range or already dead.
Delaying time to switch target, another delay there.
There are couple of threads bout this already.

Expansions – Doubt i’ll be getting the expansions if combat stay as it is.
Unless Anet does something bout the combat.

  • Coming from WoW, Loong – Power of Dragons & RIFT. Combat in those games are really fast and fluid. Furthermore they are not action mmorpg.
    And believe it or not i played GW1 for 4 years. Anet knows

Melee Skills especially since its on a very short range.
Most Melee skills still continue doing the full action even when target is already out of range.
It should be, when target is out of reach, the skill either stop or it cannot be activated cause we keep hitting thin air aka Miss. And the skill will go on recharge

Alright guys i think i found the answer!
—>Overflow <—
When you are in Overflow there are No Server Buffs so in this case Hp might drop.
Therefore when you are in the Overflow server it is your Base Stats + all the Upgrades you’ve made.
Thats is your stats.

And just an advise to all if you havent already know, if your gonna Upgrade any Stats please upgrade by your Base Stats in Hero Panel.
Not upgrade by your Server Buffs Stats.

Thats bout it i figured it out. Its not a Bug.

ok its a Hp Bug then since this thread is moved here. Thank God so i could stop upgrading my accessories till its fix. Keep losing loads of silvers doing it. Not good.

For the Crit Chance in Hero Panel, mine shows as 46% even after i upgraded my sword with Sigil of Accuracy (+5% Crit Chance) and i know this is a known bug.

Yea they really gotta look at the stats irregularities first. We cant build our character if stats are jumping up and down

ok same weapons, not underwater and if its server wide buff it should be 24k plus agreed. But there are no server wide debuff cause it drop to below 24k at times.

I really hope Anet could explain this too cause i keep wasting 50+ silvers on Upgrade Components. Did that 4 times already

Im a War but tbh class, equipment, skills,traits doesnt matter.
What i mean is my hp bounce up and down even if i never touch any of those.

Its like its 24k now, i log off and go to sleep.
The next day i logged on its 23k plus.
Then i upgrade it back with Upgrade Component to make it back to 24k.
Hours later it either shoot up to 24k plus or drops to below 24k.
(Usually after an event or zoning back to LA unbuffed & out of combat)

Thats what i meant.

Firstly im L80 and i dont know if this is a bug or Anet is adjusting something.
At times my Hp drops and at times its back up to normal or higher in Lion’s Arch/Orr (unbuffed & out of combat)
I keep purchasing Upgrade Component to balance out between Hp and Dps which is wasting my silvers.

Happen at times after an event or zoning in and out (L80 Zones – LA & Orr)

So the thing is, i dont really know what is my max Hp cause its going up and down on its own.
Like for example: At times its 24k and at times its 22,650hp then it change back to 23,160hp. (In Orr or LA. No Buffs and Out of Combat)

If this is a Bug please inform us and if Anet is tuning something, please also inform us.

Does anyone else notice this or having the same problem?

*unless you are a “Warrior” that wanna stay behind equipped with Heavy Armor playing like mid and low armor classes then WvWvW is not for you.
Just stand in LA and look pretty or bad S or whatever. You’ll be fine. No one will scratch you.

But at the meantime.. while all the TRUE WARRIORS are rushing/charging like Mad Bulls, could other classes please PUSH FORWARD FOR GOD’S SAKE!!

P.S. Suicidal for A Warrior to rush into the Zerg? Might be if other Warriors on your server prefer to play range most of the time. BUT…
what if the Warriors on your server are THE TRUE WARRIORS!!!

Now back to basics.
- DR drop rate a.k.a Anti Farming Code
- Armor Repairs (WvW included)
- Costly Waypoints
- Harder Dungoens with Repair Point.
and finally the infamous – CASH SHOPS/TP.

Get the picture already? Ok how bout these —> F2P mmos like Perfect World Entertainment or Gamigo games.

Hope you got it now.

Dont have to answer that cause you already knew it

*Ever wonder that Bots can be made by any pro programmers?
And they could be made the reason for DR too?

No Anet want us to play the game but not exactly for free. Got it?
If we could work hard and farm gold day in day out what would happen to the Gem store?
No one will buy Gems.
This is why Dungeons are made too hard with hardly any good drops and Waypoints & Repairs are made too costly.

Solution: Buy Gems. Its not that costly unless you are into T3 Racial Armors lol!
The last time i checked 1 gold = 265 gems. Do the maths

Welcome to the World of Cash Shops if you have not played Perfect World games or Gamigo games for that matter or any games that involved Cash Shops.

80 War 4/10. Combat too slow & unresponsive.
Could not Dodge when activating non intant skills. Esc wont cancel the skill either.
Only those who play other mmos like WoW or RIFT will noticed this.
Combat on those games are superbly smooth and fluidly fast.
Hard to farm Gold at 80 and Waypoints & Repair costs are really high.
Buying Gems is the obvious answer as i’m seeing it.

Therefore its 4/10.
Sorry Anet, if you check my account, i’m a 4-5 years GW1 player.
Waiting for this game since it was first announced but sadly it just gonna chase me away….. soon.

P.S. I’ve lost more than $60 when i was drunk before so i’m cool bout it lol!

What about an Appearance & Character Name change just like GW1 cash shop item
Cause some players like me do need to restyle when we are already level 80 as some dungeon armor look better with different type of physical appearence.
For example i got a “Goaty Bearded” Charr and its sticking out of my Headgear.
It look silly

Imo the Real Endgame for GW2 is WvWvW.
Orr is just for farming mats or shards for exotic armors/weapons.
Then hit WvW with the max stats for full effectiveness

What you guys think about the combat?
(Non casting skills)
A) Fast – Animation active immediately after skill pressed.
B) Delay – Animation took 1 second to active after skill pressed.

Im a level 80 War and i’ve noticed there are animation delay in combat.
Excluding lag spikes.
Switching targets during match make it harder to hit in time due to the 1 sec animation delay.

What about you guys? Should combat be faster without any delays?

P.S. Instant skills should be cast instantly as there are not casting time. Furthermore its an action mmorpg. Developers please look into this. Thankyou.
