@OP: I don’t like open world pvp for the reasons you yourself presented.
There is wvwvw. That is giant open world pvp. And it has even extra thingies like siege engines and the lot. Isn’t that good enough?

What if PvE is only contained to sPvE and WvWvW maps?

He/She did not request to turn the entire game into a Pvp Server.
No one are forced to transfer to a Pvp Server.

There is one type of AI that works great in GW2.
If only our pets/minions AI are like Risens in Cursed Shore.

Gears, Rewards, Loot/Drops and even Stats has been implemented for PvE Primarily after months and months of patches and updates.
Meaning, PvErs will always be ahead in wealth, looks & even stats.
Or in other words, PvPers will always be playing catch up isnt it?

No Pvp Server (o puhlease no one are forced to join a Pvp Server), No duels and Hey! We dont even know who we kill or who killed us in WvW (no name tags).

I’d like to see a 12v12 objective based PvP instance like Alliance Battles in GW1. WvW is just too shallow to satisfy in my opinion. There’s no direction to it, no coherence or strategy to the combat. At a certain level, it just becomes an unintelligible zerg. Plain and simple, it’s just not fun for a new player, it’s bare-bones and unfinished. It offers no consistent sense of purpose or accomplishment because the combat on that scale just boils down to absolute mush seeing as there is no inherent class structure or healer class. It’s all about DPS or be DPS’d.

12 vs 12 IS the most balance match of all.
I agree that there will be zergs BUT it Can Be Controlled!
Unlike WvW Zergs are just out of hand.
There IS a difference.
For someone who had max both Kurzick & Luxon Factions in GW1, Wolfie from HA, Deadly Gladiator from TA/RA (got tired of the grind), i know what a balance team set up is! Among all 12vs12 is the ideal set up.
But we seriously NEED a Bigger Map for 12vs12. AB kinda maps layout is Perfect for example.
edit: But make it like a mini WvW or RvR instead of s/tPvp. So more players would take part in it.

Cause all the other Major Cities are empty!
Global TP is one of the culprit. If stocks travel from town to town on a weekly basis it wont be that bad.
Ofc there would be stocks in LA but its limited.
Wanna buy more ectos? Go to Norn City TP, only 10 left here in LA.
Same goes for other types of NPCs. This is just an example.
But but my birds like to flip their wings twice or 3 times and do a Merry-go-round for a cool show after their first attack.
My Cats could do high damage always if the target is a Practice Golem.
My Spides like to Spit and Root Practice Golems too.
And my Drakes need a couple of secs to breath in loads of air for F2 to function

Used to but they Nerf the Vial drop for solo fractal not so long ago.
Einlanzer is right. I suspect that rangers that ranged open land frequently used bows, while those that ranged thick forests were more likely to use swords (or other melee weapon).
Are they being forced to use pets always?

Fyi the Ranger class really need loads of rework.
But all we got were “Animation fix” (Slower firing rate) for SBs, New Icons, Pet cd Nerf & QZ Nerf after month and months of patch.
Cant wait for the next patch for more Ranger Bash. Stay tuned!

Consists of 3 Parties with 4 players in each parties making a team of 12 players for each side IS a balance Pvp set up among all.
Of course there will be Zergs but it CAN be controlled just like AB in GW1, it wont be like WvW insane zergs of hundreds.
But we need a way Bigger map than s/tPvp maps. Not Huge like WvW no.
Yes like a mini WvW (Not s/tPvp).
I won’t call it Alliance Battle for GW2 cause its unrealistic due to no factions.

Ascended Backpacks solely from FoTM.
Ascended Gear solely from WvW.
This will encourage more population to run WvW for those servers that Need the population for a match.
Sad to see an MMO with 100% RvR Capability having empty/one-sided Battlefields due most running Dungeons for better stats and making loads of gold instead.
Or should we called this mmo an RvR mmo with PvE as the Main Priority?

No one should be Surprised by this because we have no devs. who are Devoted to the Ranger class and who are not in the best interest for this class at all.
They’re Devotion will always be for the elitists class and they will do anything to make those classes much Granderous above us; no matter how much they try to deny it.

No 3 Stacks Might buff for Superior Sigil of Battle while swapping weapons during combat.
It this sigil bugged on some characters?
Cause i use it on my alt toon it is fine.
The reality.
A) 3 Mesmers Phantasms could hit 3k Each vs 1 Pet could that could hit about the same.
B) Illusions could be created over and over again. Pets? 2 Pets,1 Pet Active. Thats it.
C) Stealth make opponent lose target. A million Dodge wont.
Listen to Swagger.1459 Comet. He’s absolutely right there.
No point sPvping with a broken class where you could do way better with others.

I really wonder what the devs are thinking when they were creating Rangers.
Thief <— a Class with Stealth as their main tool was given this skill called
Uncatchable (Tier 1 of Trickery III).
Rangers <—- a Class with just extra Dodges which never make an opponent lose their target was given Evasive Purity.
And we gotta spend 30 points to get it.
In short, Anet really do not understand how powerful Stealth is compared to Dodging obviously lol!
Furthermore they are given Uncatchable which should be the Ranger’s Trait.

In short.
A Great Player could play Ranger/Necro real good.
The same Great Player could run Other Classes even better!

The Big Mistake that Anet made was removing Energy/Mana for all classes at Launch.
There is a main reason for some classes to have Mana.
Energy Management.
Another thing is Stealth is way OP as it made you lost your target which is a Huge Advantage than any skills available fyi.
And yes i have a Pvp Mesmer & Pvp Thief. I only run these 2 Classes in the Mist.
Cause not only i know how to play them but i got Stealth as my Ace of Spades
Imo Chill is good against melees.
Except Thieves as they use intiative, no skills cooldown.
But against Casters & another Ranger i rather go for Cond or Power.
Cause even by being constantly chilled they could still do the same damage.

But the problem is all Elites have long cooldowns.
And gaining buffs from it aint good enough as it can be stipped or turned into conds easily.
Unless its an Active/Passive Elite Signet.
Passive = Pure Ranger no Pets increase Precision & 10% Chance to gain QZ on hit.
Active = Beastmaster. Pets active.

I vote on that, Duel should be an option.
GW2 and even GW1 focus on team based gameplay.
Which means classes are not made to duel or in other words,
classes are too imbalance for a duel.
Therefore they cant implement sucha gameplay.
But if anyone really wish to duel without considering the class imbalance,
they could hit an empty server in sPvp.
Just like duelling in GuildHalls for GW1.
In every mmo there will always be an Overpowered Classes & an Underpowered Classes.
GW2 included.
I dont know why, i’ll always prefer the most UP Classes of all usually.
Even in GW1, i rather play a Necro than a Mesmer or Snare/Interuptor Rangers.
Or in games like RIFT as a Mage instead of Super OP Rogues or Wars.
So in GW2 i’ve started as a War to a Thief to a Ranger finally.
So yea Ranger is my main now lol
Most of my Killing Blows in sPvp are with my Thief but still i prefer the worst class of all compared to the other classes in GW2…

I dont ask for much.. i adept to every mmos that i’ve played.
But as a Ranger in this game i really would love to see the patch which will give Rangers the choice to be a Ranger or Beastmaster.
Currently all Rangers in GW2 are Beastmaster even without any points in BM as pets suppose to be doing the other 30% of the Ranger’s dps.
So yea a choice to just be a Ranger. Total dps solely from the Ranger without any pets.
Thats bout it.
The double nerf to Empathetic Bond nerfed us pretty hard…
It also killed any hope that the developers actually know how to fix the Ranger class.
Far as i’m concerned, this game is dead and buried and is just a stepping stone till another game comes along (ESO/CU).
Agreed. Some had suggested for a choice to be a Pure Ranger Class instead of the current Beastmaster where its too dependant on pets to do the other 30% of the Ranger’s dps.
But it wont happen cause in this game…
Rangers = Beastmasters (with broken pet A.I. unless the target is the Practice Golem lol)
edit: I wonder if Dev ever tested Ranger’s Pets against moving targets (players) even with root & snares instead of just practice Golems before they made this game live.
Or they just say “hey Rangers get free auto attack from Pets so lets roll out!…..

Now if its not painstakingly obvious to some people, the GS is a GTFO of danger weapon.
If you take the entire class into focus and not just the weapon you will see that Rangers have incredible ranged damage and relatively crappy melee. The GS is the weapon that allows you to run away from melee very effectively.
GS 4 blocks melee attacks and interrupts allowing for a hastey retreat with GS 3. Hell, GS 3 without auto target will get you out of any combat situation. Combined with extra speed for carrying a melee weapon, you are pretty much home free if you have condition removers to remove those pesky rooting skills. The Cooldowns are also very low for such an effective single target control weapon (block knockdown and stun plus evade every 3 swings)
You are also not looking at what you can do with this class in its entirety. Advanced kiting. Shoot from ranged inflict stupid amounts of damage. If they get close, run away. GS3 your escape mechanic right there. When enough distance is made, turn around and shoot. All this whilst your pet is chasing your enemy (hopefully you have picked the speed traits for your pet so then can run faster than your enemy as your enemy will be running in a straight line after you) Your pet will also be hitting them now and again chipping away at their HP if not actually crippling them and making them move slower.
Now here is the other aspect of the ranger melee which funnily enough I used last nit in WvW to face tank a warrior and totally destroy him. Signet of stone is a 6 second invurnerability. “Protect me” is a second health bar. so in total you have about 12 seconds of you not getting any damage what so ever. You also have an elite which gives you stability and swiftness for 20 seconds. To put it bluntly, you cant be hurt you cant be CC’d for at least 10 seconds. This is enough time to kill anyone, burst or not.
There are viable ways to play the class using what we are given. Numbers means nothing is other mechanics are not factored in.
Agreed numbers means nothing and A Smart Opponent means Everything.
What you implying here is yes Rangers got 12 Secs of 0 damage (Signet of Stone and Protect Me)
IF…
The opponent is a newbie who keep attacking for the whole 12 secs with 0 popping up on every attacks. Which gave the ranger that 12 secs to attack without suffering any direct damage.
BUT..
A Smart Opponent will get defensive and move out of range till the 12 secs are up.
Or till he see the damage. Then he came back for the kill.
Cause by then Signet of Stone & Protect Me is on a 1 min pee break.
edit: A good example is Theif. Poof! He’s miles away with Stealth + SB 5.
And when he came back, SoS & Protect me is still on pee break.

I was over in the Norn starting area doing some lowbie quests yesterday and I came across Honor the Spirit of Snow Leopard in Borealis Forest from Shaman Sigarr. Try this quest and you’ll be transformed into a snow leopard to hunt prey. Since the Snow Leopard is one of the pets I use consistently I found this extremely interesting.
In leopard form, it immediately became clear to me why our pets struggle so much with hitting moving targets and therefore are essentially useless in WvW. The leopards primary attack roots it in place and has a painfully long animation. I was grinding my teeth trying to hit the slow moving rabbits as they easily evaded me. Keep in mind these are dumb NPC’s moving in a straight line… not erratic humans intentionally trying to avoid being hit.
Interesting exercise if you want to understand your crummy pets better.
And Rangers total dps are shared with pets.
Wars GS hits 100% max damage on the target.
Ranger GS hits 70% max damage on the same target and wait for the other 30% damage from pets 2 days later.
still funny how he is comparing class mechanics and still hasn’t figured out the ranger gets a 2nd auto attack for freeeeeee
Free auto attack that steal 30-40% of the Ranger’s direct damage that would never miss if the target aint moving lol!
You can have it
edit: In other words, Rangers dealing 60-70% of damage on the target while their pets playing catch up.

Bind F2 to no.1 and Skill 1 to no.2 and set no.2 on Auto Attack.
And set the other skills to your preference.
Just an example
We are Blessed with New Icons from the previous patch and you wanna equip a Legendary GS on your Ranger for the upcoming patch???

lol and tbh, Guardian = 55Monk+Smiter all in 1 Class with more hp and dps ofc.

New and wicked theme icons of skills for LB & GS.
Utility Skills Buffs, activating any utility skill will make the Ranger glow with a Green Aura.
Maul Bear animation will now show a more realistic HD Bear animation in full color (not just white)
LB attacks now will never miss the target if the target is within 1-2 metre range.
GS damage will be increased by 5% (extremely OP, DR might be implemented if it is use too often.)
Lastly, Rangers could rename their pets during combat.

I was under the impression that Ascended items were being added to the WvW vendors. Not sure where I got that from, but if it’s true then it had better be the stuff that’s already available or there will be an outcry from all of the people that will be “forced” to play WvW.

They WILL NEVER ask PvErs to grind/farm WvW for an Ascended Item like how Pvpers gotta grind Fotm to get a Vial for an Ascended Backpack.

The only Solution is, each and every player should be able to do the dailies that they had missed throughout the month.
But they could not repeat the dailies that they had already done within that month.
Meaning, developer should put a time stamp on the days they had completed their dailies.
So the total monthly Laurels should be only 30 for example.

4.)is it the repair bill that scares you out?(i know pve players with upwards of 200g, so the fact that they’re scared of a 10s repair bill is confusing)
5.) why would a risen priestess of milandru be impressed with your Sunrise?
6.) to my GOM bros specifically, some of the PvE guilds on our server are upwards of 300+(and active), can you grasp how much of a difference just 1/10 of your guild members would make if they were active in wvw daily?

Shadow Shot: This ability now allows the player to move while executing dagger strike portion of the ability.
Shadow Step to the target, keep blinding the target (just monitor the blind icon on the target and cast it again with Initiative = perma blind the target) and now they could even move with this skill.
And all of that in just 1 Skill called Shadow Shot lol!
Play a Thief and you’ll know how OP that skill is even before this buff.

I just dont understand why you just ignore wvw. All the aspects of open world pvp are there. There is always toons runnin around solo trying to get map completion that you can gank. Why have seperate servers when they made wvw for this type of player.
It’s not for ganking and I have spent 80% of my time in WvW ever since I’ve gotten level80. Playing on the same map is boring, playing against the same servers is boring, zerg vs zerg is boring. WvW has low rewards, minimal satisfaction from kills and is REALLY repetitive when you play the same map with the same servers every single week.

WvW is not an Owpvp cause it IS an Instance Pvp similar to sPvp.

To those who dont understand the difference between WvW & Open World Pvp.
Lemme explain…
WvW is an Instance Pvp. Similar to sPvP only on a Huge Scale.
Anyone could pop out (out of combat) and hop back to the Main World anytime.
And live happily ever after.
Open World Pvp is in the Main World itself where Pvp (Player vs Player) could happen at any place, at any time. And there is no way you could pop out to another World.
So either Fight or Run Run RUN!!!
Just an example of an Open World Pvp.
Still cant see the picture? Play those mmos with Pvp Servers and you will see the difference.
