I never got any QQ on my alts, yeah I got 90% of my wvw time on thief but on engi I run the pure cheese with perp, my ele’s crits so high she can 1 shot light/medium and my medi guard can evaporate light/medium just as fast.

One time I didn’t play my thief for like 1.5month (lvling ele and guard) then when I logged on my thief, 30mins later I got 2 pages of QQ from someone I didn’t even kill.

People would talk kitten about thieves even if our skills would be disabled.

If they accept queue for pvp, you don’t get any reward.

Have a d/d ele without 25% movement speed, use a thief without 25% movement speed, use a warrior even without warrior’s sprint … take a ranger and give him 25% movement speed … start a race … guess who comes last unless it’s a very, very short sprint race?

Speed depends on particular set ups, a P/P thief is not very fast, same with hammer warrior or S/F ele. If you want speed, build for it.

Well my server is just dead wvw-wise.
(Blacktide eu).
Every single guild that tried to join and do something resigned because of lack of other people.
Since that is a video game people don’t feel any “attatchment” to their server.
When they can’t succeed in one place, they just switch it.
Actually all of the low tiered servers are kind of dead in WVW.
The match up on my server is one sided.
I’ve spent all of my last night commanding and actually taking back one map with a group of (sic!) 20 people…. but Mind you it’s 20 people for all the maps (eb, 3x borders) while the opossing server had people playing all day and all night… That’s just depressing and makes me want to leave the server as well….

This is what BT always did when they had many players and even now with a lot smaller population – there is either nobody on the maps or a huge zerg (20 man zerg at night is big imo). One group can’t cover as much as few groups.

To the topic, I think free transfers would kitten up the unbalanced situation even more. Most don’t want to be on the loosing side so they just hop on whichever server they think will win.

They should instead change the current transfer costs, it’s ridiculous I had to pay 1800 gems to move from Vabbi T8/9 to Underworld T9.

If you sell what you craft while lvling your crafting, you will recover some gold but overall it’ll cost you quite a lot to get from 400 to lvl 500.

I recommend crafting asc weapons first and then armour.

I’m not any kind of good WvW player. But, I run P/P 100% of the time. I’ve got 4k+ kills. It’s a great DPS add on. When I run with 10 to 15 man groups (or larger, but counter zergs of similar size limit my usefulness), I can burn down anyone, absolutely anyone, who gets into trouble with the rest of my group. If you can’t get out of range, if you get downed while the rest of the group moves forward, if you are stalled, delayed, crippled, or slowed, I will burn you down. With ricochet, high crit, and crit triggered abilites, I can do some real damage, most of which no one realizes until their builds don’t function quite like they think they will.

I’ve watched groups notice I’m a thief, see I’m P/P, discount me, and then die in a fire while I burned them down with their focus on someone else.

I played P/P in WvW for some 2-3 months and yes in some situations P/P can be really nice but most of these situations rely on you not being focused. That’s why in team fights, P/P seems fine. I found some classes/builds really easy to kill with P/P (in small group fights or 1 vs 1) until they remembered that I run P/P (I am in T9 so everyone knows everyone) and equipped reflect.

I dont know if im weird, but I think a thief with more condi cleanse would be over powered. It has some high statying power for a full zerk class that if you make him cleanse condi more often it would be impossible for some condi class to bring down.

Thieves don’t have problem with condi cleanse over time with shadow embrace but due to the low HP pool and no burst condi cleanse, it’s really easy to dispatch a thief with a condi bomb. Couple of times the dmg from condi bomb (applied by one player) was so high that even shadowstep + SR wouldn’t cleanse them before I got downed.

If you compare to the other two lowest HP classes, they both have burst condi cleanse and also good condi cleanse over time.

I understand you are b.tthurt, but you still dont need to spread your frustration and expand it to those who play the class you hate. I main a thief FYI, play a med guard too and stuff. Do I qualify now with my non-cheese classes? (Dont even get started on ‘stealth is OP’…)

You couldn’t go more defensive than this over a fact I pointed out. I understand your frustration over community having the opinion that cele is op, but it is not a reason to call me names or state that I hate ele as a class while I mentioned “cele”, a full celestial build.

Fury is tasty but I prefer long reach. Quite a lot of my roaming friends have pack runes (me too) and with 2 people with pack runes in party, there is usually no need for other fury source.

Buffs for us? Maybe it’s just some typo.

I’d say the standard meta 2/1/6/1/4 meditation guardian works fine with GS/hammer.

It certainly does, very nice for solo roaming. The extra condi cleanse imo is more useful than the extra HP with 0/1/6/6/1.

The power/lifesteal and +% condi duration foods – not sure if it’s really worth getting them if you don’t use panic strike, since it takes a while to grind Try Top to buy the recipes and it is not exactly cheap to craft either (at least back when I crafted some).

Generally when I see any condi roamer, especially thief/mesmer I just walk away because it’s not worth the hassle, as the fight doesn’t even register as close to enjoyable or worth the time.

Ex. player A gets the achievement win as engi and war, while player B gets the achievement win as ele and ranger.

From what I’ve seen, most of those “faceroll” build players are just bad, so isn’t a problem. I typically get more worried when meeting someone with a build I can’t instantly recognize, as they are likely much better and can face roll me easily.

Well, I’m naturally weak against Mesmers since I haven’t figured them out yet (playing with or against). So a faceroll mesmer could probably trash me up. But on the whole I go by the quote of:

“The balance between the two classes is fine. The part that needs to be fixed is between the keyboard and the chair…”

That’s exactly why there are more condi tanks in lower tiers, the % of new/inexperienced or just plain bad players is higher the lower the tier is.

Sounds awesome but it’d hurt small servers a lot. And who’d want to run camp to keep the whole day cos that’s what commanders would ask people to do.

Instead, give us the ability to stop an upgrade when supply in the objective goes under certain level. I’d also love to see a name of player who slotted each upgrade, really annoying to see structural+2nd worker slotted the moment enemy zerg arrives at the keep.

I guess after anet’s publicity stunt 2 weeks ago to make us think devs actually do something in WvW, they won’t step into WvW for a year.

Defenders largely find it easier to just let us take things, and re-cap it when we’re working on next object. I think the most fights I can remember last week was when we took N-camp, left, waited 2 minutes, ran back and ambushed the defenders trying to re-cap. After a couple of times they just left the N-camp alone.

This is why I don’t like no swords, overall less fights and unless they heavily outnumber me, they try to take camp once, maybe twice and then I don’t see people again for ages (usually till their zerg decides to take the only camp they don’t have on their bl).

With no swords it looks like more people switched on the “pvd” midset and if they meet any resistance, they leave.

lol, the last time I saw the thief, he jumped on me somewhere between garri and tower (which we took 1min ago). I knew he’d follow since we killed him few times that night and he seemed kittened off so I ran to the tower and to lord which still had RI on. He followed me into the tower. Ya he hacks but he is dumb as a shovel to die to lord.

I wanted to like the change and hoped it’d make zergs split more etc etc. It wasn’t bad at first but the last week whole wvw is ktrain 24/7. I can’t stand it, kitten eotm has more player interaction than our current match up.

I flip regularly flip camps with only 3 classes since that’s what I play.

Ele – possibly the fastest but also the trickiest as my zerker ele is squishy and relies on elite to get agro. Not as reliable as thief/guard and sometimes bites the dust (yea to npcs >..> )

Thief – I have most experience on this class so even fully upgraded camps are not a problem for me. The basic ones, I could kill all mobs and start capping before swords would pop (when we had swords QQ).

Guard – the most reliable of the three classes, can flip basic camp faster than a thief but still haven’t figured out how to flip upgraded ones fast (been playing guard somewhat more only for a week or two now).

OP, don’t blame UW for what one person is doing. That thief you mentioned has been hacking for weeks now and was reported many times. We can’t do any more about it, UW can’t either.

I’m glad other players are coming in here and clarifying this is, if it even is, an sPvP issue. As I see it, ALL burst skills need to be toned down. Thieves burst in WvW is still too high too. Instagibbing is still taking place in WvW. Thieves should never have been able to do that in the first place. No build should be able to output 20k in under 3 sec.

As an NA player on EU ping isn’t much of an issue for me. It seems EU’s have far worse ping issues when going to NA though, for whatever reason.

Can’t really compare since I never played as NA on EU, but from my experience as EU in NA, the latency is very noticable. Sometimes I just log out than deal with that lag fest.

My thief time went from some 98% of total gw2 gaming time down to 10%.

Maybe not the most interesting confesion in this thread, but definitely the saddest realisation for me in my tiny gw2 universe.

Condi thieves would be unkillable with higher base HP.

Power thieves would (maybe) stop dying to my ele/guard that fast.

I don’t slot thrill of the crime cos I still use autotargeting.

Probably the last thing I’d spend rank points on, despite having few other finishers, I still use the basic one.

All I want to use my rank points on:
1. Extra supply
2. WP stomp that would send the unfortunate souls I’d stomp right to their spawn.

We have one guy like that on Vabbi, pretty effective in what the build is supposed to do. If rezzing others is your thing, then that build is perfect but rezzing is all you can do with it.

When people complain about thief most thief answer is “play one yourself”. I could easily tell you the same and maybe you will understand 2 things. 1) Other professions are not as easy as you think, 2) The “play one” argument is pretty lame. You don’t want to play something else, you want to play what you like without having to bend over a prof every time.

Anyway, I was expecting ppl to QQ about thief not the opposite when I came to this sub-forum. You haven’t been on the receiving end of a thief enough in your life to speak like you do here is what I get.

Playing other classes is the best you can do to learn how to fight them. Better investment of your time that looking at thief forums to QQ. Your problem is that you find thieves annoying and you don’t want to see anything else.

Sure, I don’t play the flavor of the month meta celestial d/d but let’s not push the ridiculous more than it already is. Heck, I find the d/d celestial ele less dangerous to my staff ele than pretty much any thief. Being killed by a d/d ele also isn’t as annoying… by FAR.

I normally play power builds. When I tried condi thief (just before the ferocity change), first few hours were hilarious, so much survival and still killing people.

Then I got bored.

Condi builds are really strong in 1 vs 1 but I think power can do much more at certain skill level. I am no pro, I still die to some condi builds, yet I think with power build I have more control over the fight. You can walk away from most condi builds, try do that with a zerker player chasing you.

While Silver is raging here over hs dmg, I noob in wvw with my thief ele. Those two were lvl 80 thieves.

Fire grab: 45 sec cooldown, and cone attack
Dragon’s Tooth has a crazy long prehit time

Heartseeker: instant, ranged, homing, spammable skill

You can read the 2nd half of my previous post to find out the lvl of those two. I do see the difference, it’s actually so obvious that I almost haven’t played my thief since I made an ele 7 weeks ago.

You also need to get some facts right, HS has 3/4s cast time, it’s certainly not instant. Actually, it has same cast time as ranger autoattack, which costs no resources to use and can crit high too. See another of my attachments.

Your need to complain about thief dps is amusing, especially cos you play a condi engi and you can melt a zerker thief fast.

Anet won’t improve either (dmg or survivability) cos:

1. Few top pvp thieves still rekt some other classes/builds.
2. Stealth (the ultimate excuse for anything).
3. The ease with which we can re-apply dmg, aka spammability of our skills.
