As far as I’m concerned the dev’s comments are moot point and I question his knowledge of DX. Another dev said in a Q/A for fan site before release of core game that none of the devs have DX skills in their skill set when asked if gw2 will have DX11 on release, so take it as a grain of salt either way IDC!
GW1 and GW2 uses Havok engine although heavily modified, they still can get allot of support directly from Havok.

I’m glad its gonna take forever. It’s gonna give people something to do and bragging rights once they’ve unlocked it.
its not going to take long as you think its going to, some players will have it unlocked the first day. Most will just have to do 20 HP’s in H.O.T maps and boom its unlocked since each HP is worth 10 points.

run cmd.exe in admin mode then type ipconfig /flushdns press enter

So the elite spec has been gated (even more), but the real question is are the new hero challenges going to be gated behind certain masteries. I doubt they are going to line all these hero points up on the yellow brick road in the first area. Likely a lot of these will require different levels of gliding and mushroom jumping, and god knows what else.
It will be, what would be the point not doing like that? they want us to explore the maps and use the gliding and mushroom jumping.

The worst part is that even if we can convince Anet to reduce the hero points needed, it will still probably be too much. I was having nightmare’s about 170 points.
I mean some of us have Jobs and families. How are we supposed to unlock this in a reasonable amount of time after paying for the expansions ahead of time? If I had known this was going to be introduced I would never have bought the expansion.
Youre talking about half mapping two whole zones of hero point challenges….Seriously this is too much for you?
In a word:
YES.
Honestly… if a couple hours of playtime is going to DESTROY YOUR LIFE maybe playing games just isn’t in the cards right now. Pick up a hobby that takes less time from your work/family.
No, its just mind numbingly dull to grind this many hero points to unlock a specialization that I payed for. I would be far less upset if Anet had of announced this ages ago. But the fact I’v been baited into paying for this expansion by Anet deliberately failing to release this info so that I can be locked behind a grind wall I was un-aware existed, has to say the least, annoyed me somewhat.
um Anet did announce the new changes coming 3+ months ago so players will have time to get HP’s done and be ready for the expansion. If you took the time to get them all done you would have just little over 200HP’s to spend once H.O.T goes live then you have do only half of HPC to get the rest.
As I’v stated previously, I assumed that there would be far less grinding.
In other words I assumed that the total hero points needed to unlock the new trait line would be something like 100 ish? It was only an hour or so ago that it was announced that It would be 400…….I only ever intended to do this once for my thief. I feel truly sorry for players of my mindset that main multiple classes.
You seem to be ignoring some very important information as Colin has made it very clear.
hero challenges are worth 10 points each in the jungle. So no you don’t need to go do 200-400 jungle challenges.
Many players have several Alts and will have no problem doing the HP several times. If players are too lazy to do them then well no one can help you as you just have do them or not.
Doesn’t matter what the rate is when you take into account you need every single point in the old maps as well. That x9 is too much.
Except you don’t! There are enough hero challenges in the jungle you don’t need to do any in the core tyrian world – those simply speed you up on day one if you already got them.
So really its a non issue

Wooh… 400 pts… that’s a whole lot’s of point… Unlocking elites spec for all profession will be really tiring.
Doing at least 200 wvw level x 9 profession… that’s gruesome…
Other solution being to grind million of exp in the jungle of maguma… and still have to unlock all defy…Sigh … farewell real life, farewell…

This is obscene. The fact that a huge time-sink in world completion only gets you barely halfway there is crazy. This not only totally devalues hero points in the core Tyria areas, it means that we have to grind Maguuma just to enjoy the elite spec for Halloween which is time limited.

Q: How feasible is it for guild to claim their guild hall first week after launch ?
A: Very feasible. You need to run some guild missions first to gain enough favor to run the expedition. You should be able to get enough favor in the first week but if not definitely the second week.
http://dulfy.net/2015/10/02/gw2-guild-week-day-4-livestream-qa/
(edited by JediYoda.1275)
It is literally only 3 days for those guild missions, get over it.
It isn’t the three days. It is the favor required to begin the guild hall expedition.
I realize that, for many guilds, this isn’t that big a deal. However, for others it is an actual problem, so “get over it” really comes across snide and insulting.
Were still looking forward to HOT. We still respect all of the work that has been done.
We just want to be able to experience something important to our guild as an actual guild group – and do something we actually enjoy doing as a group when the game launches instead of feeling pushed into content we may not want to do. That isn’t a lot to ask.
Do the missions. Get over it.
You get over it, the complaints/concerns are legit
Colin, do you think you guys can add the option for guilds to only run pve+pvp, pve+wvw, or pvp+wvw missions instead of having just having the options for one type or all three? I think only having a 5% favor bonus would be fine.
My guild focuses on pve and spvp, but we are cross server so we have the problem where we either do only pve or we do the mix, but not everyone can join us for wvw.
You can however have people in different worlds running missions simultaneously for the guild that all contribute. They simply only need to have 3 guild members participating in the specific event for it to count towards the mission – regardless of which world.

Alright,
So what I can see is that not only was the community not thought of in this decision, it was completely just pushed to the side and basically told that here you go play this content, it is the only way that “you will be able to get to your goal faster” and we are making dungeons more bothersome to the point where you shouldn’t even do them…. seems logical a game that based it self of the community is deciding to mess up what the community already enjoys. they are afraid that they will have less people in the new zones so they want to just force them in it…. lowering drops and making dungeons less effective seems to be a horrible way force players into an expansion… now it is about money…. make the dungeons not as good make people buy HoT and that is going to be the main gold income…..
Sir/Ma’am you get it
@JediYoda – Every thread you are involved in has you saying this when people disagree with you. Like as soon as someone points out your tinfoil hat stuff is wrong or misguided you just say you are no longer listening to them and then get mad when others ignore your whining.
No point in going around and around so at some point I decide to make it clear enough is enough, so agree to disagree and move on like I told them.
You whining about my supposedly whining makes you a whiner too and I guess every thread starter/poster is whiner that disagrees with your views. Because that’s exactly how allot of people come across on this forum! I get mad? roflmao good one!!

This is just frustratingly sad….
Why don’t you just delete dungeons? honestly, you clearly just stated you don’t want players doing them…
Where did they state that they don’t want players doing dungeons?
Page 1 of this thread.
Nowhere does he state that they do not want players doing dungeons.
Disincentivizing Dungeons makes it pretty clear on their intent as they rather have players play the new content instead plus revamped fractals.
Read the rest of his post. Shifting some of the gold rewards away from dungeons to other areas of the game is not the same as not wanting players to do dungeons.
I’ve read it and I just don’t buy that’s their only motive
Of course. Since them redoing a lot of rewards, and having to rebalance, must mean that they have some heinous motive and are out to get those players who do dungeons.
It’s very clear they want it to be dead content
If you want to take everything they say at face value by all means do so, while others like myself will take allot of what they say with a grain of salt and rightly so. They have said allot over the years and their actions don’t always back up it and still haven’t on some things to date still. Before release of core game they said dyes will be account bound, all five mini games would be in at release then on release nope that wasn’t the case at all. They later flip flopped and made dyes account bound, little over 3 years later still not all mini games that was promised. (Just 2 examples out of more I could give)
So excuse me for not taking everything they say like its the gospel.
No it’s not clear that they want dungeons to be dead content. You’re just making the assumption by reading to much into what they’re doing and not understanding the why.
Oh please, and please don’t try to insult my intelligence! also this is my last reply to you.
Hey John, I was wondering if anyone had proposed this particular idea.
Put the daily dungeon chests on a weekly reset like raid rewards will be, instead of nerfing the gold output directly. Alternatively could do both, but just not nerf the gold output as harshly.
This way players can still do the dungeons to get a decent amount of cash, but you don’t have people doing CoF1 once per day every single day. They either have to spread out and do other paths during that week, or be satisfied with what they got from the easier paths until the reset. Figure that would do enough to deincentivise doing dungeons all the time for income, since Fractals would still have daily rewards.
Fair compromise I would say
This is just frustratingly sad….

So I wonder if the pvp dungeon rewards tracks are getting removed? Dev’s response would be appreciated
And why would they do that?
I ask given Anet’s history of swinging the nerf bat, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they do.
After all we are talking about the very same people who removed feeding cows hay to having to dance/entertain for the cows instead in Queens Dale (Help Daih tend her farm heart quest). They stated it was too hard for players to figures out to feed cows hay from all their meta data they claim. Despite Heart Quest even telling the players what you need to do to complete said heart quest. Talking about an insult to players base intelligence.
So I wonder if the pvp dungeon rewards tracks are getting removed? Dev’s response would be appreciated
Guys they have lots of data and been running models and are likely to have economics and maths degrees or doctorates. Its crazy to shoot them down when you really don’t have access to the information, knowledge and expertise they do.
Wait and see.
An economist has training on economy. That doesn’t mean he knows didly squat about fun in an mmorpg. Running models with lots of data won’t tell them didly about fun either, no matter how many math degrees or doctorates they have. It’s not always the best option to base your game around the economy and not about people having fun.
John Smith admits he is the Grinch no wonder why we can’t have nice things
John, did it ever happen that a new feature or game mechanic that was proposed internally by the dev team was vetoed by you because it would have too big of an impact on the economy?
50 Times a week, I am the destroyer of the designers intention to make people happy.
It just shows a lack of confidence in their new content in my opinion, while in other mmos have trouble getting players to play old content and while with this game the designers deliberately not wanting players to play old content.

Maybe so and because someone with a degree or doctorates degree doesn’t always mean they know what in the world they are doing.
On one job site I was on, one of GM’s asked the engineer who just fresh out of collage if the 318 crane could pick up the silo to make the upcoming lift safely etc. Questions the engineer should’ve had known and didn’t well he got fired as it was a setup by the GM to test engineer’s knowledge before he got someone hurt or killed.
Book smart is one thing, when it comes to putting it in practice in the real world when it counts is something entirely different
I’ll be up front and say I hope many of these unpopular changes come back and bite them.
I read “shifting some rewards”
And I see threads about doomsday for dungeons everywhere. lol
That’s because you haven’t learned to read between lines. Anytime Anet increases drops somewhere, they say that outright (and maybe mention, that something else may be lowered to compensate). When they speak about “balancing” or “shifting” rewards, it always means an overall nerf.
^^ this and its why we used to call Anet, Anerf on guild wars guru since they always swung the nerf bat in GW1.
Are raids glorified dungeons?
Serious question

Personally I LOVE burning through content. The reasoning is because then I am freed up to play what I want, when I want, how I want… The new Legendary system for the new legendaries is so horrendously time gated it’s sickening… first the ludicrous amount of time spent “crafting” the various iterations of the precursor, then the various gifts. The most insane time sink of all of course being this “Gift of Maguuma Mastery” More like “Gift of not being able to do anything else in the game”… 100% map completion of new zones (that’s cool), Lots of the new currenices (I can deal with that), MAX out ALL of the Maguuma masteries (wait… what?). Yep… 32 mastery points AND 32.5 MILLION xp gained while in Maguuma…
So much for wanting to spend time in the New Fractals or checking out the new WvW stuff or working on Scribe for my guild hall…
This is single handedly the LARGEST time sink Anet has ever introduced.
Solomon Darkfury gets it!
you 3 that quoted me congrats on missing the my point
I’ve never spoken out about a nerf before, but this one hurts….. bad. Just thought I’d put my 2 cents in. Maybe they’ll rethink it if enough people say something. Hopefully.
Bold, yup that’s how things work to get Anet to change things, look at the original 6-9 months to build guild hall pvp arena, tons of players raged less than 24hrs Anet changed it to 2 weeks instead.
Welcome to f2p. Dungeon drops and rewards nerfed. If you want gold buy gems.
LOL dungeon drops and rewards.
Do you even play this game?
congrats you missed his point!
10,000 Influence to 1 Favor exchange rate that we saw in guild chat live stream, we don’t know how much you can exchange per day. Various new currency caps and time gates will be put in place to prevent rich players or guilds from instant buying everything on day one.
As for small/tiny guilds are basically being told go big or go home as they are trying to force the players base to play together more than what we currently do according to the Dev’s.
It’s just another example of Anet killing farms. They hate farms and they have systematically gotten rid of every one. Also, they want people playing fractals and raids, so that will the the rewarding content for the game.
Guess you didn’t play GW1 at all? They nerfed every farm in the game and killed the 55 monk to further prevent farming on large scale. So nothing new really and its t be expected from Anerf!
They are killing dungeons, killing salvage. Everything to make F2P players’ life miserable.
Money grab trying to get the F2P players to buy the expansion IMHO
If this a sing of things to come from to expansion to expansion well they are only fooling themselves as players will most likely go find another game to play. So the middle finger works both ways
Anet did expressly state that not everyone will be able to complete raids and that’s ok for them. So now they will remove the rewards on the entire learning curve to Fractals and Raids!
ANet, They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity to disappoint the player base.!
Dungeon reward nerfs is uncool,
With the new map reward system coming too some extant we all should’ve seen this coming!
Conspiracy confirmed this is just ploy to sell high blood pressure pills and Anet gets a cut for each pill sold to its player base.
From somebody that has x2 the max luck needed….just sitting in inventory: Please! Anything to burn this luck up.
There already is a way to burn it right click destroy volia I fixed it for you nothing had to be added either.
roll eyes you are the go to person for everyone problems fixing everything for them, end sarcasm.
Anet added ways to get rid of all the extra Bloodstone Dust, empyreal fragments, candy corn , dragonite ore and Karma, so It’s an reasonable request.

No, and No more than what we already have since Anet doesn’t the want famous reddit data miner to leak too much info to ruin the players fun of discovery for themselves. So huge patch for release day
This thread is a perfect example as to always be careful with what you ask for since the fix we got isn’t the one players wanted (myself included) in the thread below.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Fix-the-AC-Exploit-now/first
I think he is jumping to conclusion since Anet never hinted at it in any info or live stream that I know of. Besides Anet knows that any serious raid guilds will use team speak etc for the raids won’t have an issues letting other players use it to for the raids.
