Its not that bad and you have to realize if you are a guild considering transferring somewhere, 5 coordinated players can wipe our competition. We do it all the time.
Win those outnumbered fights and people love to join ya and your guild will grow stronger.
In fact… Organized groups can mop most of our oposition, because this oposition isn’t used to see ET fighting back with a strong force… We can see that when Svrn and EoH are on the field.
But just 1-2 guilds alone cannot carry a server to victory (Not even CoSA was able to carry SF by itself). We need more blood so this server can go back to life again.

The gap rating between Underworld and Vabbi/Fissure of Woe/Whiteside Ridge is kinda kittened… Underworld will be red for like forever if it continue like this.
However, RNG for Vabbi rolled low and Fissure of Woe rolled higher, so they stayed on T9 while FoW is fighting at T8. Vabbi is more likely to be fighting at T8, but it all dictated by luck.
Might want to read things a bit more slowly then, since apparently you missed the part where I said we had a HUGE influx of players for the season. I just pointed out that they weren’t transfers.

You speak like your server is the only one that have achievment hunters… Every server had them.
But the servers with more coverage will always achieve victory, keeping these folks entertained. The ones that couldn’t win (less coverage), lost the achievment hunters when they finished their meta.
Its silly how some bronze league servers like Darkhaven and Anvil Rock (Both listed as Very High) have the same price as Blackgate/Jade Quarry/Tarnished Coast.
Why go to the bottom when I can go to the top for the same price? Right?

If it bothers you so much Jeknar that you don’t have enough people to run with for your preferred style of play, in that you have to cry about it everyday, why don’t you move? Is it the cost?

Jeknar came down from a much higher tier server (blackgate, wasn’t it?) and he’s stuck it through for over a year. he could leave if he wanted to, i’m sure… but i for one am glad he hasn’t. if he sounds bitter, there’s a darn good reason, and telling him to, in effect, “get lost” doesn’t help matters
In fact, I’ve been out of ET for 2 months… I transferred out to Maguuma along with BS. Due BS disbanding (The Maguuma part only), I got myself stuck alone on a server that doesn’t fit my playstyle. I should have expected that the moment I transferred (I was even hesitant in doing it but I was so fed up of the ET situation, to not mention my constant attrition with IoM/DI, that it sounded too good to refuse).
1 month on Magswag, I farmed my way out… I was invited to join Darkhaven (one of the few servers where I still have active contacts), but even there I didn’t quite fit in… In fact, the pugs over there hate me because I don’t go around golem rushing stuff and because I like playing defense (the boring sieging/upgrading part) more than offense (zergbusting and long-drawn keep attacks).
When the free transfer openned, some of my friends back in ET started to try convince me to come back… I knew I was going to get unto the hell-hole again, but hey at least I would be able to play with my friends right? Wrong (¬¬’)… Most of them got fed up and quit during season 2. Now I’m stuck again on the same situation I was before…
Now to answer Darius question: Yes, the cost in my major issue… Its worse because I have 3 guildmates to carry with me. They don’t have as much time as I do to play this game, so they can’t afford moving without getting entirely broken (I’m sure one of them don’t even have enough gold to move). So, for me, it’s either farm 600g (If the gems price don’t go even higher) or try to find a solution to current ET situation… Actually I find the second better as it is not a solution for me alone. But if you think the first is better, feel free to help me up
I didn’t miss the point of your post I just think it’s unwise to post on a recruitment thread that everyone leaves the server so why train people.
It’s simple. Fix the reasons why so many large guilds have left. To the point that 3 months ago our sea Zerg was 30+ yet today our prime time Zerg was 15 people. And two train everyone that is willing to fight with us.

IoM/DI for exemple left to upper tiers to get more fights. How can we change that? The only way would be moving up tiers, but we can’t do that if everyone keep leaving!
Also, some of the guilds left because they got in drama with some other people… We don’t have a “Exile this player” option so we can’t send drama-queens away from our server. We suck it up and live on with them, in a somewhat harmonic existance. And I really doubt that there is a server out there that doesn’t have dramatic people… Actually finding them on more populated servers is easier than in low population ones (more people, more chances of one being dramatic).
I’ll be quite frank… There is nothing we can offer that other servers cannot… There isn’t such thing as easy rewards down here, which is what attract players to the top bandwagons. Like it’s on the OP: “There are no rewards, no chances of winning, and rarely fair fights.”
The only things that would make people come here is either Masochism or the Thrill of the Challenge.
That said, we’re still looking for people. Join us…if you dare.

technically i haven’t said i was for a merger either. i said if we’re going to merge, merge us with the low pop EU servers to fill in coverage gaps, not another NA server.
as for “what it’s really like” down in T8… Jeknar, has it gone back to being as bad as it was a year ago, when i got that screencap of the entirety of ET’s WvW force from all 4 battlefields at primetime on a friday afternoon… all 17 of us? i can always throw that screenie back up here again. actually getting a zerg (A zerg. singular, as in, only on one BL) rolling of 20+ and still having some left over for scout/camp/enemy harassment was a cause for celebration.
No it’s not that bad lol. Even ET hits 30+ during prime. Don’t SVRN and EoH each run 15+ alone? Let alone pugs? Think those are the numbers jeknar gave me anyways.
Yeah, it’s not terrible as old T8. During 2-3 hours per day we can get somenthing around 50 players… After that our structures fall, but no one is there to hear it. Do they make a sound?

There is NO decent discussion of this. It isn’t an “issue”. Honestly this thread should be deleted because all it is doing is allowing someone to direct hate towards the people on the lower population servers.
I would love to see you play, let’s say 1 month, on ET and repeat that it’s not a issue… WvW is dying and T8 is where you can see it more clearly… If left alone, all servers will start falling apart due the excessive lack of a decent wvw experience, from the bottom to the top. It might be only ET today, but who knows how many servers will be dying within the next months…
Eotm isn’t really a wvw map. It is a map for PVErs to get their wvw achievements done without getting slaughtered.

AC’s have never stopped a zerg from rezzing someone. At least not in my experience. :P
Yes, it doesn’t on the actual experience… But think: If you can keep firing the AC and doing damage to the dead people, the ones trying to revive the dead guy will have to sit under AC fire for longer time… Not everyone can stand under sustained AC fire while ressing someone for THAT long.
Besides, that post is actually a complement to the “No hard ress allowed while in combat” as an AC would be enough to keep people in combat if you keep firing at the dead bodies.

Did ET generally lose people when a season was announced, or does it bleed people independently of seasons? Or both? Because if it’s in response to seasons, it would be easy enough to only allow transfers down the chain and not up. Or lock them off entirely. People who want a different experience have eight months of the year to decide where they want to be.
It naturally bleed people like any other server… Unhappy people that never seen the server achieve a victory, or simply people that are playing alone on off-hours.
We also suffered many exoduses over the course of time, regardless of the seasons… [Mend] and [FKB] when the first free transfers to medium populated servers (HoD/FC/ET at the time) were open. Then we had [FoE] to come down, but the guild ended up dying here (idk the full story, I was playing SWTOR during that period). Then [BS] left, [IoM/DI] left afterwards, [AKD] left some time after, and when season 2 free transfers were announced we lost [BoM]. (We also had [Agg] at some point, but they hop servers a lot to go around killing people… So they don’t really count.)
In the ET matchup history, the server have seen victory 8 times after it’s great fall back in October 2012. That 20 months… So it’s somenthing around 80 matchups. (Yay to the 10% win rate)… Of course, it wouldn’t be a problem if we actually had competitive matchups instead of huge blowouts. The last competitive matchup we had was back in march (DR/EBay/ET), and it was a 2-way fight as EBay was 50k behind 2nd so it’s no bueno.
Ideally, we need 3 servers that are able to compete with each other in order to make a fun matchup… I won’t have the dude that log in the NA prime time and asks on TS: “Everytime I log we are high on PTT, but why we are always losing?” because the score will reflect and actual competition, and not that one server is steamrolling the other two or that one server simply rolled over and died. Even if we lose a competitive match people won’t get super demoralized because we were able to be close to victory… It will seen to be a tangible thing! However if I log in on Monday and I’m 30k behind, I can pretty much say the week is already decided and there is no reason to try (It would need overextended application to revert the score at that point, which end up in people getting burned out afterwards).
The problem is: How to achieve the ideal matchup, with such huge population imbalances? Please don’t come to me with “Forget the PPT and play for the fights”. I play WvW for the strategic feeling of having to capture/hold key objectives in order to win, and not just go around killing people…. I’m not the Deathmatch type player. I always prefered Battlegrounds (Principally Alterac Valley and Arathi Basin) over Arenas back in World of Warcraft.

I spoke with some Kaineng players while they were rolling over our stuff (They were actually impressed I was stubborn enough to be alone inside every single tower they went to flip). One of them said “Wow, I always thought Kaineng was the worst server, but your server situation is terrible”.
Now I come to think… Why do the other lower population servers tend to deny that WvW is dead down here? Because of the mere existance of Eredon Terrace! “Hey, we’re bad, but we’re still better than ET, so we’re good right?” People tend to simply ignore it because they belive it won’t happen to their server… Then the burden is left to be carried by ET alone.
But what gonna happen if ET die for good? If everyone that is really unhappy listen to the blind people saying that we should simply transfer out if we’re not happy? If WvW on ET become nothing but a handful of players capping camps and paper towers during NA prime (Old T8 all over again)? The next server in the line will be hit, that’s what is going to happen… There will be no “We’re still better than ET, right?” because there will be no ET. Just a empty server where the other 2 on the same matchup will be fighting over to control the empty towers and keeps. And once the second one dies too, it will hit the next… And the next… And so on…
While I disagree with Shonie in many parts, one thing is true: WvW is dying. And as long people stubbornly belive that empty maps are good, it will die faster.
Instead of merging, how would you be with the following:
New accounts made on GW2 default to ET as their server. They have a free week to change if they want. That way, people coming on to join friends can go wherever they want, but you get the new people. This would change if you moved out of rank 24.
Cost of transfer is based on server ranking, and dimishes down to free for ONLY rank 24. People transferring at this point are doing so for WvW anyway.
Both of these things, especially the second one, grant you (theoretically) more people, without flooding you and wiping away your server’s WvW culture.
As a third option, which wouldn’t affect only you, perhaps there can be tiers to the outnumbered buff – so that if a server’s representatives on a given map are really out of proportion to their enemies, they’d have a tangible boost to give them more of a chance.
Would something like this do it for you, or is the merger still a better idea for your server?
This will problably only delay the innevitable… As soon as the next server in the line start being hit by the symptoms of death, we’ll have 2 servers locked in a never ending circle of swaping who is the last. Unless miraclous the two lower actually get enough people to compete with the top one. But I stopped beliving in miracles long ago….
We could even propose: “Well, how about the two lower servers have free transfer then?” This would problably generate the pre-season 2 effect: “Why will I go to NSP or CD, if I can go to HoD?” and the last server would remain dead.
Everytime free transfers were open, ET was one. But it never worked out…

You missed the point of my post… I’m complaining about how we train people, and then they leave and become our enemies. (It’s a complement to NonToxic point actually)
I just logged off and the bottom 3 servers are fielding tons of people right now. I tried to get a good shot of ET’s zerg but I wasn’t able to catch them all. This is about a 3rd of their group.
On top of that they had 5-10 man roaming groups attacking our camps and our bl was being attacked by another group. Not exactly tumbleweeds.
EoH and Svrn were both on EB… I can say that about all our WvW population right there… That’s somenthing between 40-50 people… If you had brought a, let’s say, 20man group to ETBL we problably would get the outmanned buff up.
Idk where you got the idea of the 5-10man groups taking your camps… Me and a friend were the only ones that didn’t got involved on that SMC mess.
Also you had to KAOS/WAR group constantly harassing our camps with 6-8 people, so how our “5-10man group flipping camps” didn’t dealt with them (All times KAOS got killed was by either Svrn or EoH)? Problably because this said group do not exist.
Besides… Tell me how long this lasted? I play on GMT -3, and I know SMC was flipped around 11pm for me. Svrn logged at midnight, and EoH logged 1hr after… So this zerg lasted what? 3 hours at best? Super fun that I need to log on these exact times to have some WvW experience isn’t? Stop trying to pretend that ET is healthy just because we can field some people at a small period… It is not!

Should just make it so you can’t revive fully dead players while in combat.
This would certainly solve some issues. But the fact a zerg can still quickly mass rez a memser through a gate is an issue.
Pretty hard for a couple of defenders to get 20+ ppl in combat…
Its a step in the right direction though.

Certainly I’ve flipped the odd empty tower. The next tower isn’t empty, though. Flipping Hills with one other person? Sure – it works because zerg mentality means it’s easy to have roamers pop swords on all of the towers and keeps at the same time, and have a more sizable force as a decoy (yep, the bigger force is the one you want to have seen).
The enemy zerg roars around looking for someone to fight, and finally finds your bigger force who are actually making a decent attempt at Bay. Meanwhile, amongst all of those swords you had your roamers pop the ones at Hills are real and you’re sieging the walls from odd spots that aren’t commonly looked at.
All the orange swords at Bay mean is that the zerg took the bait, you take their hills because the zerg mentality tends to dull the flexibility of people, and you have six camps, a keep, a couple of towers and are chewing through outer garrison before the zerg realizes there’s a problem and has to figure out what to do.
Remind me again why play at my level is against the game mode, and why yours is The One True Way?
“The next tower isn’t empty” isn’t always true… I’ve duo-ed all 4 Kaineng BL towers without oposition many times during last week. Sometimes if there is no WPs, you’ll even flip keeps before the first defender arrive…
Your “pop swords on everything strategy” only work exactly because of super limited resourses low population servers have… Sometimes it’s not even because we were careless, but because we HAD TO CHOOSE which keep we would defend…
Let’s say you have 10 people on Bay doing a “decent atempt”. If left alone, these people will undoubtly flip your keep. But then you have swords popping everywhere and only 15 people on the map. What you gonna do? Defend a keep you know you’re going to lose if you don’t, or go check swords that might be just a fake and lose the keep that is under attack?
Countless times I heard on TS “Abandon EB, we need to defend homeland” and lost a fully upgraded EB keep because there wasn’t enough defenders. Your strategy only work because the server in question don’t have enough manpower to send a sizeable force to defend the keep under attack while sending a party to scout/defend all other swords. I don’t find servers that need to choose what they are going to protect because there is not enough people to be healthy servers…
You asked me in other post if I want my server to get merged with another server. Yes, I do… Eredon Terrace is beyond salvation. You have 2-3 hours of action and then it’s a 20 hours of struggling to hold whatever you can with a handful of people that are outnumbered at least 1:5. When the “action time” come up again, we have a bunch of unsieged paper keeps while the oposition have fully upgraded everything else. This is a very frustrating experience for anyone new to the game. What I’m going to answer to the guy that ask “Why all enemy towers are upgraded and ours aren’t?”.
But for my server to be gone, two other servers need to cease to exist aswell (3 way fights, remember?), so it’s not as simple as saying “Oh just delete Eredon Terrace already since no one is playing on it”. That’s why we’re discussing the problem that low population brings, and not simply why my server is deserted. And many of the issues people are discussing here aren’t exclusive to my server, they are just worse for us.
Then you can come and say: “Oh, then why don’t you transfer out already if it’s so bad?” Ok, I transfer out and the problem persists… So every other Eredon Terrace player that is having a bad WvW experience need to transfer out aswell? Every new player that log on that server will also have to transfer out to have a decent WvW experience? Telling others to transfer out is not a solution. It actually just make the problem worse.

you’re forgetting that a lot of GOM doesn’t even care anymore this week (and have been taking it easy the last few weeks), and were discouraged we werent’ moved up to silver this week. why should we care when we have been undefeated the last 9 weeks? most of us in the two main wvw guilds i run with in GOM really don’t care much at all right now and are just barely trying enough to keep our skills polished while we wait for what we’re looking forward to. We’re not being lazy or sucking, we just don’t see the point in putting forth a lot of effort this week. enjoy your caps, but again, we really don’t care, and we’re still winning.

Well, lava keep doing damage to dead players, so there is a mechanic in the game that allow dead bodies to be damaged (Which problably would just need a tweak to make player skills do damage to dead bodies too).
However I see a problem on that: The dead person would count towards AoE cap. So even if you kill someone, you still have that target sucking damage that should be dealt to another player.
The forum community is so different than the game community.

I feel your pain – I woke up and had a look at the scores today (Wednesday morning, 0600 when I looked) and Ehmry Bay was ticking at +15. DH had thought that our BL would look better in blue, so as to match our eyes. But we always forget to pick up Visene, so we’re going back to red.
Regardless of what tier you’re in, WvW population and overall coverage (determined by population) is what is the deciding factor (but not the only one) in who wins.
So what happens? After this week the matchups go back to being determined by our server rating, and we get the servers that are closest to our own again. While it won’t be perfectly even, you won’t get the AR hordes karma-training the BLs.
The week after, if our rating keeps going up and AR’s keeps dropping? Maybe they’ll be back. ET and Kaineng will have to work together to blunt AR’s numbers, and EB will hone its skill at squirreling DH and SoL zergs in interesting directions.
It’ll be fine.
Dude… Red is Kaineng, not AR… They are taking the entire place with 15 people simply because there is no one to stop them (Neither ET nor AR). And if you check on the live map for how much time every objective was owned, you’ll see that the highest timers are 7h, which was the time when Kaineng was able to take everything with the exception of AR garrison (Kaineng even had a tick of 620ppt this night). Getting EBay won’t change much… We’ll have EBay zerging us at day, and Kaineng zerging us at night, pretty much like this matchup.
The paper keep I posted on my screenshot was taken by us with 4 people where 1 was a uplevel who said that he was new to the game… When he asked “Where is my team?” I almost said him to delete his character and get a free transfer elsewhere because any hopes that he will find a good wvw experience in his timezone in ET are null. He’s lucky he logged out before our group got rolled by the 15man Kaineng group which ended with the other 2 logging out and me being the only one that remained in the map.
I actually agreed with you up until your last paragraph. I think you draw an incorrect conclusion. Having players on ALL maps is relatively unimportant, any noob knows if one map is empty to check the others. As you say, people congregate in EB and home bl in lower tiers. This gives generally quite substantial populations in these 2 maps. I don’t think this is any problem whatsoever, and this explains why even lower population servers tend to have a zerg going in at least one map 90% of the day (ET and SF are the only strong, noticeable exceptions to this, who both 99% up and vanish at oceanic/sea generally).
If everyone is on it’s home BL and EB, what is the only map where will be fighting? Having only 1 of the 4 maps with fights doesn’t sound right. And even if you say “Oh but when there is no action on home BL these people will move to another BL”, then you get a empty map, which doesn’t sound right too.
Also, you say “How can be super ninja stuff if there is action on all maps?”. Well, people ninja stuff while the main enemy zerg is occupied with the main allied zerg on the map (At least that’s what I saw while I was on BG and Maguuma). Taking stuff in deserted maps isn’t ninja, it’s just “uninterrupted PvDoor” because, unless you try a WP’ed keep, no one will ever know you are there (Since they are on other maps).

Because the only server where you would be the only player on-line at a given time would be Eredon Terrace… Really dude, DH is far beyond from being deserted as you described. Just admit you wanted to leave to some top tier where you can be carried by 80man omnimapblobs.
7am server time… We’re on ocx prime right now if i’m not mistaken. Look on my minimap how many green dots we have on our only keep. Not even the Kaineng zerg is impressive (10-15ish maybe?)
Also, the camps on AR BL were taken by 1 person, that never got interrupted (which lead me to belive that there is no AR on that map).

Thanks to RNG match making SF was selected to fight in the lower silver bracket rather than GoM. NSP taking a break to recover from the season has resulted in a generous donation of glicko rating to SF. GoM might have a lot more time in bronze depending on the next round of matches.

Not seen this myself but a quick and easy fix should this start to become a thing would be just to make all minions/pets on all classes do no damage to gates/walls.
Get 25-30 eles together and they melt gates as well should they be nerfed as well?

Get rid of PvD – or nerf it into the ground esp on reinforced gates so people actually have to put siege down and pour supplies into it.
Get rid of siege, make players actually fight players instead of doors.
Get rid of players, make npcs actually fight doors!

I run dual guardian… My partner is meditation burst, while I give him the buffs so he can kill faster.
People questioning why you want to be in a bronze league server need to realize that at peak times these servers have healthy populations, but aren’t crazy zergy, and they generally don’t have many servers with crazy off hour coverage wars.
It’s not 3 guys on a borderland map chasing each other around.

I find it funny that you people say you would hate having your server merged with another because you don’t want the people from these other servers with you. What would you do if these people trasferred to your server then? Would you leave it? No, I know you wouldn’t (you would need to be a cyber-xenophobic idiot to do so)… You problably would find a way to either avoid them (by constantly avoiding the map where these people are) or you would try make up with them.
Also, stop talking like if a merge would make everyone from your server disapear… They would be there, but there would be more people too. Don’t you welcome new transfers to your server? Why you would hate people from other servers then when actually that’s what transfers are?
And Arius, please stop…. You know there are only 3 servers in bronze that have a reasonable all-round coverage (GoM, DR and DH) and even these have holes which people could pretty much fill. Omega rushing empty keeps isn’t fighting. As I’m posting your server have 450ppt and is already almost 30k ahead of the 2nd. How can you come here and say SoR and EBay have coverage to fight your server?

That makes me sick to my stomach. I dint rank up fast because I’m constantly defending boderlands, but I still feel like I’ve put a ton of hours into WvW, but I’m not even a fraction as close to that rank.
Well, if it make you feel better, I play a lot more than I should (sometimes I play 8/day), and most of my time I’m defending stuff (super low pop server, can’t go out on offensive you know?). And I’m just Silver Colonel 1165.
Throughout this whole post you really don’t give a reason why people should be forced into a higher tier server…
Yes some people will transfer up for a better chance and a “good”(lol) reward, but there are other people who play to have fun that won’t transfer up. You can have your zergy blob that is only playing for the rewards, while those of us that play to have fun can play on the lower tiered servers. So what if the servers filled with zerglings can get a free ppt win off of them? Doesn’t mean you can force people to play the way YOU want by merging their server with another. Honestly I feel really sorry for those of you on BG, JQ, and SOS; it’s gotta be a very unfun way to play the game, but you don’t see me forcing my fun play style onto you.
Do you ever been on bronze dude? I remember having a Matchup with YB while on ET… It was SF/YB/ET... Do you remember how big were our population? Even if SF and ET both tried to push YB, we would just be overwhelmed by far superior numbers…
Now most people consider YB to be a low populated server (Since we’re basing it on the T1 and T2 populations). If YB is low pop, what should we call the servers YB was able to beat by 5x its score? (And I’ll not even mention that ET had another exodus)
Bronze league servers need to go… There is too much empty space that no one will ever fill. I bet that even if we merge each bronze with 1 silver (making 9 servers disapear) we’ll still have a lot of empty spaces (No queues, and prolly outnumbered buff at certain times of the day).
And don’t come with that response of “we play for fun”. Unless you like doing PvDoor or being severely outnumbered by the enemy, because these are the only two options that happen in most matchups, and then I can’t argue with your “fun”.
People in low tier servers are there for a reason.
If they were that hung up about population and coverage (what coverage is there to even complain about, they all equally lack coverage) they would have transferred up ages ago.
Those that are there choose to be there and are attached to their communities.
Don’t take that away from them.
And then why these same people keep complaining that they never get competitive matchups? If they like so bad of being roflstomped every single week just because they can hang with their community?

People play on bottom tier servers, because they want to. I’ve played in T3 and i’ve played in T9 and i have to say i much prefer the latter one.
I would love to hear why…
A bit off topic (my apologies Chaba) but this is a suggestion for Anet to sort their kitten out…….
I have an idea on how to even out server population. It would take a few weeks but I believe the population would even out for all servers.
Servers are already ranked from 1-24, why not make the gem transfer cost reflect the servers ranking. For example JQ transfer cost would be 2400 gems, TC 2300 gems, BG 2200 and so on down to the, 23 ranked server would be 100 gems and the 24 ranked server would be 0 gem transfer cost.
The gem transfer cost would be updated each Friday after reset to reflect a server either moving up or down in ranking and the gem transfer cost would be be reflected accordingly.
I’d double the ammounts to discourage even more stacking on top servers… Who would pay over 4000 gems to stack on T1?
You have a better way to put an end to bandwagonning, since they clearly won’t stop this season bs?
Making the costs adjust everytime a server change ranks would be a start… Then the prices should be in accord with the entire ladder and not separated by leagues. Lower Silver should be more expensive than top bronze (people left bronze servers to stack on HoD due free transfers).
If people want to stack on lower tiers, it means population is leaving the higher and stacked ones to somewhere else…
I’ve seen a Diamond Invader on Overgrowth (at EotM) last week… Which means he was at least 6445.
