Frankly, after playing enough 1v4 this tournament I’m tempted as hell to transfer to ET just so that I can meet other people who also 1v4, instead of GIVING UP AND DISAPPEARING.
The 1000 gems transfer cost is a problem though…
You’re wrong when you say we do 1v4 because it means you’re working alone… That’s not our kind of stuff… We do 2v10, 5v30, 10v40, etc…
Yeah, it was questioned before… Why Arid Fortress is the only keep that have inner breakable walls? Like workshop nearby wasn’t trouble enough… But at least if we know where to focus defenses, red team can have a better chance to hold it’s keep like green and blue.
Simply put here are my proposed better S3 system:
-Estimated Duration 4-5 weeks (Fixed for anet but for us unknown) and the match up pairing unknown
-Matching via points but getting how many points not only fix to who is winning but also related to PPT difference amoung each server.
Example: Winning 1st with score difference to 2nd place of 0-30k give you 5 points, while if winning 1st with score difference more than 30k give you 6 points.
[BUT never tell us your score criteria or then it can be predicted]This way, people will need to fight hard regardless all the odds to get their win, since they will know nothing at all and cannot predict the matchup so that there will be no permanent cheesy 2v1 alliance.
So, simply put, what you want they to do is say “Hey, there will be seasons, but you won’t know when it gonna start or when it gonna end so you won’t double team blackgate a server in your matchup” and let the kitten happen… That’s sound plain ridiculous and not appealing to bring the PvE crowd to help low population servers (Even if it only last few weeks).
If the matchups were actually scheduled like on season 1, the chances of a 2v1 happening would be much lower, as you wouldn’t have control of who is going to be your next oponent (The schedule was already determined prior, and you won’t have the 3 same server on a second matchup). Did it happened on season 1? Yes it happened in 2 isolate matchups, unlike on season 2 where the 2v1 lasted the entire season.
BUT BACK TO THE THREAD, we’re out of season 2 now so our server can start having fun again. Fun means training up all the newbies and green guilds before they leave! Transfer now, lessons are free!

Just watched the live stream, the person asking you about salvaging mistforged/hero weapons was not trolling you.
That was me! Sorry, was kinda trolling.. The new skins aren’t that appealing and I got 3 greens from the Season chest, was hoping for a decent reward!
Well, even if you were trolling, Megabob’s assumption make sense… I’d salvage it too for some extra Ectos and Dark Matter since all I need is the skin and I already have at least exotic quality weapons (Some toons already have ascended).
You’re right, AR could have tanked to pull ahead of EB. That way, none of us could have Mistforged weapons! I guess you wanted us to make sure that EB lost 75 tickets and Kain lost 25 just so we could get 25 more and so none of us could have 300. I’ll make a note that ET prefers the “if I can’t have it, no one can!” mentality.
Hmmm, you’re right… I forgot AR have 2 pts less then the rest of T7. Even if they tanked, they would end up only being 6th, which gives only 275 tickets.

arenanet didnt favor EB. It simply uses the glicko system as a tie breaker.
If either AR or EB had to be in a higher tier fight, with equal points, the server with the higher rating goes to the higher tier and the server with the lower rating goes to the lower tier.
Very predictable.
Let’s not forget to say that this was announced prior the seasons even started… So everyone knew that the higher rating server would always be placed above the lower rating ones in the matchup making…
Other servers tanked week 8 in order to be able to get better rewards on week 9 like SBI, NSP and DR (SBI got screwed tho because FA is bigger than they could handle). AR had the chance to do it aswell, yet they decided to K-Train ET/Kain without a doubt.

- I will keep this simple we all had 8 weeks up to now to see how the system was playing out and the places were displayed weekly for the standings. So to complain about a systems you had 8 weeks to learn is not going to help now. Simply put we noticed on DR that it would be best to lose on week 8 for the best possible placement in week 9 because of how the system was laid out with the brackets and played the way it was most beneficial to us. It didn’t take much to do the math. and it is a 9 week tournament. You are placed where you are because of the simplest part…. you have less points.
Tanking against Kaineng and Eredon Terrace is hard. All that Karma Train sound appealing…

If you finished your meta achievment, you will be awarded the reward corresponding your server afilliation. If you didn’t, there is no reward for you.
Zylonite thats easy, because achivement hunters dont have many badges.
Eh? I don’t think so… Some achievments needed to be done on EotM, and EotM award so many badges… I can make 1k+ Badges doing a full matchup (4 hours) on EotM.
Remember even ascended isn’t the 1st tier, legendarys are the 1st tier, Ascended 2nd tier, Exotics 3rd tier…
Legendaries give the same stats as ascended… The only difference (besides the graphic effects) is that you can change the stats of your legendary anytime.
Queue? Only top servers have queue. Half of servers on roster had last queue two weeks after Tournament started.
My server had a 10man queue for EB last week… I’m on the dead last of bronze league. If we can make a queue, I’m sure every other server can.
I am more worried that they will talk about WvW tournament one hour after wvw reset.
Isn’t this contraproductive? Wouldn’t it better to have this Ready-Ups for WvW one hour before reset?
Well, the leagues end on the reset… While there is no matchup that is going to be decided on the last ticks, it’s logical that they don’t want to interrupt the last matchup of the season. The next week don’t count for anything, so losing a few people on the reset night won’t really do much aside from making some servers gain less points than they normally would.

Well, the lock was valid for the seasons… It would be a shame if you remain locked after it end.
Next season, you should suggest that Anet use 4-2-1 scoring instead of 5-3-1 scoring.
This way an upwardly striving server that wins its matchup and gets punished in the higher tier fares better than the server that loses in second place.
Most of use would agree that 1-0-1 is better than 0-2-0, and a proper scoring system should take this into account.
It should be winner take all to avoid promoting fight for second. If a server want to get somenthing, they should attack the top dog for it, not fight for scraps with the other underdog while the top server run a with easy win.
Lawls, an answer the day before it ends after weeks and weeks of asking…. this kitten would be comical if it wasn’t so gd depressing.

However, I agree with your main point: there’s a problem with scoring in both the 2013 and 2014 tournaments that I hope they address: any server coming in 2nd or 3rd in tier N is guaranteed more points for less work by tanking a match enough to drop them to tier N-1 — they get an easy win that week for 5 points instead of struggling to get 1 or 3 points against more competitive worlds. It should never happen that a score is better just because the server’s schedule is easier.
How would tanking during the season be a problem on season 1 if all matchups were scheduled and not decided by the outcome of the matches like this year? It’s a problem now on season 2, but definetely wasn’t on season 1.
I don’t know wtf yall are talking about when you say warrior are easy to bear underwater… Tsunami Slash (Spear 5) is, by far, the strongest skill in the game. Think as it as a Hundred Blades THAT FOLLOW THE TARGET. Just because some noobs didn’t buy a exotic underwater weapon (I know that at least 80% of the players didn’t) doesn’t mean the class is underpowered. I can easily hit 15-20k in a non-bunker stupid enough to not dodge a few hits.
But back on topic. The real problem about underwater combat is the downed state. You cannot finish players underwater, which mean that a group can just power ress each other without having to worry about interrupting a stomp.
Also how would someone defend a underwater tower/keep if you cannot place siege underwater? Head-on combat isn’t a option when you have less people then the enemy…. That would end up giving every underwater node to the biggest zerg for free.

Well, since you’re looking for fights, you’d better get a server that stay on Maguuma range… We don’t know if HoD will replace DB without colapsing, so I belive your best bet is SoS.
The most likely answer is that glicko is going to be the tie breaker… No one knows for sure tho.

Honestly I’ve seen a more toxic environment in EotM than the regular servers, though that might be server specific. Comments like “This commander is kittening trash”, “If you want to defend then you can go back to the borderlands”, or as a person posted a few hours ago in map chat “no our commander has torets or some kitten. He keeps pulling off and defending stuff”.
Yeah, there are toxic players on EotM aswell, but the chances that you’ll ever see these people again are small… However on your server WvW you’ll keep seeing the same people over and over.
Like I said, the problem are the players. Not Regular WvW or EotM.
EotM is just superior game mode.

EOTM is EASY mode and a travesty in a competitive “game”.
Questionable… Regular WvW would be just as easy, if it was crowded with uplevels and people that hardly do PvP at all and are there just for the rewards that PvDoor offer… Since that’s what you find in EotM, that make the game mode look easy.
EotM have some very interesting mechanics and I’m inclined to belive that if all three teams played it serious, it would become a great map, maybe even better than regular wvw.
So you’re telling me that just because someone dumped 100g on a commander tag I need to obey this guy? That anything else that I do if I’m not with him is worthless?
Look friend, I don’t play the game to have some random dude barking orders on my ear and raging when things go bad. If I wanted that I would work overtime... I play the game to relax and have fun…
Just because I’m not taking part of the zergfest it doesn’t mean I’m not helping my server. I’m out there (solo or with friends) taking camps/towers, watching and reporting enemy movement, getting some points by killing dolyaks/sentries/roamers, etc… Saying that I “don’t fight for the cause” just because I’m not following the blue-dorito-man sounds to me like a cry of someone that think WvW is all about mindless PvDoor with 100man map-blobs. And I belive I’m not the only one that do this…
WvW has flaws, but what make it worse are the player’s attitudes…

1 – 4 for omegas… Alphas suck, if you lose a sieged structure to alphas, uninstall the game.
2 – An average person should only have a chance to win 1v1 against another average person… If you’re fighting outnumbered, you are not suposed to win except if you outplay the oposition, which mean that either you are above average or they are below average.
Why would you not want to see names in WvW? Knowing where the other guys are is paramount when killing them/not letting them kill you, isn’kitten
Because sometimes the only thing you can see is a sea of red names…
Then the scaling must have a cap… Because, let’s be real, you can’t get that much vitality even on full Sentinel’s.
Remember that at the spawn you have siegerazer buff which give you extra health…
IMO Xfer to ET.
Or Kaineng… The effect will be the same…

Not exactly.
We have a more-or-less permanent presence in EBG, since lots of people think EBG matters on low-population servers.
What we have on the other maps are roamers and randoms. Sometimes they’ll get together and do something, often they won’t.
But sometimes, when things are solid in EBG, a group will break off and go to one of the BLs, and anybody already there will also go to them, and that’s where those “groups on two maps” come from.
I get the outnumbered buff most of the time too, you know. Our videos reflect that.
That said, towards the end of the tournament we are definitely seeing fewer of you guys in the field. But you’ve definitely mixed up your gameplay and tactics, which is fun.
It’s a pity we didn’t doubleteam AR when both of us were getting k-trained.
That’s the difference between us and you… We don’t have a permanent presence on any map. The only map where we have a more-or-less permanent presense is on ET BL, and sometimes this end up being 5 people defending against 20+ man zergs while EBG and other maps have literally 0 people on it. You can’t really do much like this.
Sometimes I play 8+ hours in EBG and I never see the outnumbered buff go out. And unless a guild group decide to push an enemy borderland, you’ll never see ET on it, maybe except for a few roamers flipping camps and paper towers.
I don’t know wtf happen in ET… We start strong on reset, and after everyone go sleep on friday we pretty much roll over and die for the rest of the week.
Now on a side note, I don’t know why the hell people from our server are posting on your forums… These people don’t like other servers posting on ours (I know some that were even banned from our forum) and it’s a shame to see that we have people doing the very same that they say to dislike.
Not using golems is the best solution… Golem rushes are for sissies anyway…
Lol no ET match up threads for the last 6 weeks; we are doing that badly even our forum trolls have given up.
Why would I do a thread if almost no one goes to the new matchup forums? All our matchup threads with Kain/AR/EBay had almost no posts for the entire week.

No thank you. There is a reason that EotM is for PvE players. Ask someone to defend something there. It is intended as a karma train. Nothing more, nothing less.
Just because the players turned it on a giant karma train, doesn’t mean it was designed for that…
When i stepped into wvw on the first night and found only 1 person crafting in all 4maps combed i knew it was over for ET. Next day found out 3/4 of the server left….. and preseason people were talking about how we were gonna be stacked… yeh got purged instead of stacked lol.
It’s our fate to die every time seasons are announced… Happened on season 1. Happened again on season 2. And if there is a season 3 (god forbid it), it surely will happen again…
Also, even when we had fight clubs, they were very dead in most servers… People lost the interest in duels over the course of the time, and I’m inclined to say that with how unbalanced conditions are for a 1v1, even less people than before are likely to show up if someone set it up.
We don’t need getting inside tower/keeps to be easier. It’s already easy enough as it is…
Your idea will simply screw even more the severely outnumbered servers…
People that preffer EOTM over regular wvw either:
1 – Don’t care about WvW
2 – Just want easy loot/karma
3 – Are farming to transfer out of the server they are.
He was probably only mistaken about the “auto attack” comment (also possible the burn was stacked/stacking), the duration’s are easily achieved.
I don’t know but i heard that some engineers are running Runes of Balthazar for some crazy burn… I’m no expert tho.
Took the guild into EOTM last night with about 20 of us we had a blast. We were blue and didn’t have huge numbers but Green didn’t roll over us at all.
Organizated guild groups rolling over upleveled pug zergs isn’t impressive anymore for a long time friend… You’re not the first, and you won’t be the last…
Outnumbered is also unofficially known as “The IoJ Buff”
IoJ didn’t faced the outnumbered buff nowhere as much as ET did…
Its because of the seasons, where the green side have the winning (thus with more population) servers… Once the Seasons end, the RNG-based matchups should bring some balance to EotM (As not every winning server will be green).
And yes, red get quite a fair share of the outnumbered buff. I’ve been red for 7 weeks since the season started (and 1 blue).
Condi is only relevant for small-scale.
If your group of 20+ players has issues with conditions, you have to stop and think about what you’re doing wrong…
That’s why he said on his post that he is talking in a 1-10man perspective…
