Play a necromancer and use anything other than staff and you will see that you have to target to do damage. No weapon other than the staff has a cleave, you have to target to get your scepter number 1 and number 3 to hit as well as dagger 1 to hit what you want in a fight instead of random enemies in a fight, dagger 2 and dagger 3, focus 4 and 5 you also have to have a target. You need a target for your pull, you have to have a target for your death shroud 2 and 3. This is all to do with how horrible class balance is and how flawed condition and support builds are.
If your a condition build have fun with poor damage if you want to seige, support builds just arent useful enough to your team that going zerker has a greater advantage.
Unless you roll a guardian warrior ele or mesmer from the beginning your not going to have much fun. Case in point my experience since everyone wants a zerker of one of those classes for fractals or even regular dungeons. Im not going to farm for the mats to get 2-3 professions up to get full ascended gear on another character because necros are horrible at the moment.
The only good thing about gw2 i have really seen is everyone can mine herb and log, and thats only because everyone can do all crafting. The “hard” content like teq isnt done anymore and all that was is a zerker fest since conditions hurt there as well.
There are a lot of things that are wrong with this game that saying its a good game isnt really accurate if your going to look at everything and not just your experience on your zerker warrior. Heck people are just running champ trains anymore Once you do all the dungeons and get all the skins which isnt that hard, your done with the game. If you dont want to do fractals or wvw theres no need for ascended gear so theres no need to play the game. There hasnt been any new skins to work towards and until they make the classes more balanced, bring out more in the end game besides temp living story theres really nothing to do, im bored in this game to the max. I have what i want me necro lowbie guard and mesmer to look like so what else is there to do? Nothing…
Guild Wars 2 needs some form of grind sadly like every other MMO for the simple fact if there is no grind whatso ever then you’ll play it like a singleplayer game til you beat it then move on to another game.
Most of the people have already beaten it. Once you do arah for the story, and have at least full exotic that takes 2 min now, you have beaten it. What the grinds were supposed to be for were skins and for the most part thats what it was after you got your first set of exotics.
sPVP is the only thing that has stayed consistent throughout the games life where skins are the rewards.
Skill vs Skill = Unknown? No the one with the better gear in the case of this arguement ascended and exotic, the person with ascended is going to win. Oh i dodged your hard hitting ability and your in ascended gear… yeah and i dodged yours, the difference is my aa’kitten harder than yours so eventually im going to down you.
The only place where Skill vs Skill = Unknown is in spvp but in wvw its a numbers game along with a gear game. The difference between rare and exotic isnt that big stat wise but it helps you in wvw a ton so with other people getting ascended gear you yourself have to go through the process of getting it as well to stay competitive. You dont see people in world first races saying “oh i only go up 2% in dps so it doesnt matter” your gm would kick you so fast its not even funny because that 2% could give your guild world first. With a wvw ladder and the ability to have bragging rights saying “we are number 1” could mean they had ascended gear, or more players.
To keep things fair in wvw they should just make it so stats cap at a point where you would have full exotics and you cant go over that. So ascended is only useful where it doesnt matter since its broken anyways and thats pve. Then it would be 100% skill vs skill and if you want to compete then get exotics which are pretty easy to get now, takes 2 min on the ah if you have enough gold and if you want to change the look of it converting your gems to gold after your skin purchase or transmutation purchase you should have enough gold to get a full set with some to spare.
Basically there are 4 classes right now that have the best direct damage with cleave of some sort and that is warrior guardian mesmer and elementalist. And they all have some sort of group support in their builds. Necromancer is a selfish class if you go direct damage with no cleave, thief i havent played but no one is really taking them either unless you pvp and want to abuse invis, and engi to my knowledge doesnt have good direct damage with aoe either, its condition damage with bleeds. I havent really played ranger any either but from what i have heard about their forums is that they are in the same spot as necromancers at the moment with being weak.
So you have 4 choices out of 8, kind of sad that only 50% of the classes are really viable in terms of pve and pvp to some extent.
In wow you dont have to level up your professions to get the best gear, which is also part of the grind unless you have done that since the very beginning or have enough gold to get the 2-3 professions up to where they need to be. I started as a necromancer but with the mesmer warrior guardian ele zerker screw all other professions meta to actually play what i want to i have to reroll.
You dont have to reroll at all and most specs are viable unless your the elite of the elite going for world first.
And yes you can go into spvp and everyone is equal in terms of gear, but the majority play wvw since its called Guild Wars and thats the only place you can really pvp as a complete guild so if you have exotics and another guild has ascended, and both have the same skill level and people… who do you think is going to win? Of course its going to be the people with ascended gear, its a stat increase no matter how you look at it. In pve i keep seeing zerker ascended gear 4k achice points warrior mesmer guard only. To stay competitive with the rest of the players where most of the players are i have to go for ascended. Otherwise I would just get some zerker gear on my necro and try try to find some group that would want a non-cleave class unless i went conditions and no one wants a conditionmancer in their group.
Its overwhelming to a new player of how much crap you have to do after reading what was put out to begin with and then find out… its a grindy game with a very low gold income with high costs and only one way to play in pve since conditions are below useless and slow down your team.
Teq isnt a rework? HA dont make me laugh, its a rework and it is a terrible rework at that.
What a lot of people in this thread arent looking at is from the point of a new player. They are told the best gear in the game is ascended gear (and it is) so that is what they go for because everyone knows if you have any type of edge (mainly wvw) people will take you for dungeons or you will have an easier time in wvw. The only place where the manifesto is still in effect is spvp and tpvp.
You are already seeing things like this happen in dungeons with the lfg tool where people saying “zerker ascended gear only 4k achive points” that basically makes my necromancer useless in more ways than one. The ascended items like the neck rings and trinkets have a higher increase in stats than just 5%, its actually almost doubled in stats. Take the berserker rings, exotic has 67 power 48 precision and 3% critical damage with no upgrades. The ascended berserker rings have 103 power 68 precision and 8% critical damage. Thats almost a 40 point gain in power, a 20 point gain in precision and 5% gain in critical damage. With a upgrade in the exotic gear it is a lower jump but it is still a big enough difference for people to need it to stay competitive in wvw if numbers of players remain at a constant.
Yeah you dont “need” ascended gear for most of the pve content but its the best gear you can get and if you arent working towards it then why even bother playing. You can get exotics in about a min now unless your going for something other than crafted gear from the AH.
You have to grind out 2-3 crafting professions to be able to craft ascended gear and have around 25 gold just for the ascended recipes and thats at a minimum, you have to get the materials to craft ascended which means grinding, and you have to do fractals for the back piece and you need to either grind out dailies and monthlies for the other slots or you have to do fractals and get drops.
All that for a new player just to be on a level playing field in wvw. Also the reason why they added ascended gear in the first place was because people got exotics way too fast and there wouldnt be longevity in the game. So instead of sticking with their original plan of releasing skins to keep people interested and something to work towards they just added a new tier over a long period of time and made it a grindfest.
If i didnt want to get into dungeons and eventually fractals i would be done with the game already since champ trains are next to useless aside from… ascended gear mat farming.
What I see is people saying “if one important person died with the trinity system you wipe except if you get a battle res off”. Do you know how many times you can res someone in this game? Thats the only real teamwork i see is people ressing from a downed state. Im finding one of my spectral abilities less and less useful and usually only use it right on top of myself. The only other thing that takes teamwork is Teq and we all know how that turned out for the majority of the population.
For there to be teamwork they would have to release an expansion and rework pretty much everything.
There wont be raids, the closest thing GW2 has to a raid is Teq and you see how well that turned out. Also there has been new dungeons, the only thing is they were all temporary which there has been quite of bit of anger at that. With graphical bugs like clipping of these broken ankles (yes they are both like that depending on which leg doesnt have weight) it wouldnt take long to fix them in a couple of months.
Now to address what i said in brackets, yes depending on which leg has the least amount of weight on it has this effect. That tells me that the model creator didnt know much about the female anatomy or even just human anatomy. A little test everyone can do is to act like they have to go to the bathroom with their knees pointed inwards. Once you do that, try to twist your feet in the opposite direction. You will either hurt yourself or if it does twist the degree in which it does move wont be as high as in the game model. The pose it seems like they were going for is one of a relaxed feel like the 2 pictures someone else posted, the only thing is when you have a pose like that your foot tends to tilt. Your foot doesnt have the range of motion like a ball and socket has like your shoulder.
To do major game changes they would have to do an expansion just because theres so much that would need to be changed or fixed. They also wanted feedback and suggestions on how to fix it to speed up the process and I have done that.
Epidemic only spreads to 5 other enemies so at most youll have 6 with conditions on it. Also conditionmancers have a pretty big flaw in that single target their damage is very low as well as if anyone else is capable of putting bleeds or poison on the target and the bleeds stack over a certain ammount your damage is going to suffer making you even more lacking. Thats why people are taking beserker professions since the damage can only go up with vuln and might and no one interferes with anyone else bringing their damage down.
Right now im running a dagger/dagger axe/focus soldiers build with 17% base crit. With fury i think that is more than enough to do good damage since the dagger aa hits so hard and i have quite a bit of power. The only thing that is missing from melee necro that all other profs that have access to melee is aa cleave. Allow it to be a trait for all i care and i would even take a 5% to maybe a 10% hit in damage to cleave, and you can just swap the trait out at a boss fight if you want. When you play another prof that cleaves passively in melee range and then you play a melee necro with no melee cleave there is just something missing.

They all have strengths when it comes to pve and you just have to play to those strengths. There are way too much to list about every class but if you want to aoe down mobs i wouldnt really go with a necromancer. Their wells are on kind of a long cd, their weapons dont have a cleave unless you go condition with scepter dagger and staff.
Try the classes to around level 10, read the traits and abilities and pick what you think is most fun or what could be fun once you get that ability you want. I havent played them all but i can tell you i personally dont like the elementalist, no weapon swap no thanks, even if it does have 4 attunements.
Also with the 2 pictures, both models have on high heels along with the toe being the only thing touching the ground in the leg that i assume your referring to. In the case of the model in game, both feet are planted on the ground and you can clearly see the muscle on top of the foot that would tilt the foot upward is contorted in a way that i have never seen before in my years of art and my class of anatomy.
It isnt at all an issue of how weight is distributed. I’ve taken anatomy classes as well as many art classes and it is clear that the person that did the model made an oops. You can see this because the norn female also has her weight on her right leg but yet her left leg isnt contorted and broken. Anyone that has taken any anatomy class and knows how the bones are positioned can see that this isnt correct. You have 2 bones in your lower leg and even if you do move your ankle to the outside the bone that creates the shin will move towards the outside as well and not the inside like is shown in the screenshots. You can even check yourself in game if the screen shots are hard to see.
I dont see any other issues with any of the other races its just this one stuck out. I dont think it would be too hard of a fix since the animation from standing still to running is pretty quick. If anything they should address them all at once. And this isnt a “physics” issue its an anatomy issue, nor is it a trick of the eyes. It is what is in game at the moment and should be fixed at some point in time along with any other graphical bugs in the game.
The last one is of the character creation screen with no armor visible so you can see the anatomy of the leg and how out of place the foot really is.
The second screenshot uses the masquerade boots which also has a line somewhat. Sorry if the screenshots are kind of hard to see but thats as close as i could zoom in without cutting off the feet.
The human female left leg is beyond broken at this point in terms of anatomy. With some foot gear you can clearly see how bad this is visually. I have 2 examples and they both show the problem pretty well. Most of the leg, the thigh knee and most if not all of the shin is pointing inwards while the foot is pointing out. It is also clear since the right foot is straight up and down and since the human ankle in real life doesnt really move in a way to make the foot point out i think either it needs to follow with the rest of the leg and point in, or adjust the rest of the leg to fit with the foot.
The first screenshot showing the shin and ankle in the starting cloth boots. I chose these boots because it has a clear line down the shin and suggests where the center of the foot should be.
I think the offhand dagger skills are fine how they are. Yes dagger 5 isnt that great in terms of damage when you go with a dagger power build, it does however help with survival by putting weakness on the target and you get some bleeds as well. Dagger 4 blinds and transfers conditions on you. Dagger 3 should be changed to be something other than a hobble, maybe something like warrior sword leap or just a shadow rush.
If they are trying to make all weapons usable by all professions then we might see cleave with the sword like the mesmer has. It should most likely by the power weapon of choice for aoe. Maybe have something like what reavers had in rift where you create shadow around you that damages people and maybe some other effect that lasts for the duration and the number 3 ability can be something for staying power.
I wouldnt mind playing a power necromancer but there arent really any options at the moment that live up to other power builds on other professions. If I were Anet, after the new year I would possibly try to introduce 1 new weapon for every class or at least try to. I do think that hammer should be the first weapon to be released since only 2 professions can use it right now if im not mistaken.
From the post that they gave they were just using the skins as a base model to work off of so they didnt have to create something from complete scratch. It sounded like they were going to use elements and have parts resemble that of the original skin, not just make some parts of the armor look like it was heated by a torch and put an effect on it.
They could of just made a tonic to do this and you could of chose what gear set to wear while your shoulders and hands burned. The only difference is that the gear wouldnt look like it just came out of a forge.
The difference between other mmorpgs and GW2 is that to get gear you pretty much have to work for it all and i dont mean time invested like with gw2. Lets compare WoW and GW2 just for the sake of arguement. I will compare ascended gear and heroic raiding gear since they are both top tier bis gear.
To get ascended rings and a neck at the very least all you have to do is your daily (which isnt hard) and monthly (which also isnt hard). Ascended armor and weapons are both crafted so its just getting the mats that stops you. Now in WoW you have to be part of a guild and a pretty good one at that, you have to raid and deal with certain mechanics. After your guild has everything down and some heroic gear, you show up for your heroic run every week then your pretty much free to do whatever else you want to do.
For a new player in GW2 the grind is horrible, they totally tanked karma gain through dailies and monthlies so you have to event grind, and even then its not worth getting karma unless your going for a legendary or you like the karma skins and can find a server that has the temples. So basically crafting and the AH are the only efficient ways to get exotic gear since i dont even really see anyone looking for dungeon groups anymore.
The most efficient way to do things are usually the most boring and most gringy. If you do it any other way your just falling further behind.
I looked and couldnt find anything on this topic, but with the new flame skins that came out and Anet redoing the light armor skin because it resembles another skin too much, do you guys think that they should redo the other 2 skins as well.
All that Anet really did was take the existing skins like the mistwalker and battler skins (at least thats what they are called in the pvp closet) and add some flame effects and a little skin coloring to them. This is all they did to the light armor skin as well.
I know that the light flamekissed skin was basically a cultural armor that had flames on it and thats the reason why its being redone, but their reasoning seemed like it wasnt that it was just basically the same model but rather it resembled that model too closely. So if that is the case shouldnt they redo them all? What do you guys think?
You guys have to remember that male and female anatomy are different and stretching out the breastplate for breasts wouldnt look right and things like skulls or a design would look out of wack. The reason why the char and the asura are able to use the same models are because the faces are the only things that are really different between the males and females.
With all that said the visual difference of the male and female phanlax armor is too great and doesnt resemble one another. There are a lot of female armor that doesnt have skin exposed but even if skin is exposed it shouldnt mean you have to go away from the design of the armor due to anatomy. The shoulders can be identical which is probably the most visual thing when it comes to armor sets (at least to me). The gloves and boots can also be somewhat identical but again differences in anatomy come into play.
I think people complaining about a little skin showing are going a little overboard, just keep the armor looks similar between the genders.

What I do understand is that you don’t understand what the game is when played at a high level.
[/quote]
I dont, all i see people do is farm champs all the time.
I think the trinity is better for the most part. Yeah you get the horrible players that blame things on the tank or healer but you just kick them and get someone else. In a guild raid you dont have those things for the most part unless you in a horrible guild that just wants players in it. Whenever I play as a tank or healer in other games I usually get thanked. In this i’ve been undergeared and done some pretty good things like keeping the champ abom in one spot for the most damage output out of the melee but you dont get anything like a “nice job at keeping it still”. The only thing you get thanks for is rezzing people.
I just guess i dont see the point of an endgame that is just zerg champs all day.
The Norn are only half giants and are straight up hunters. They like to show off their accomplishments and compare them to other Norns. They do have a guardian spirit but if you were to spend more time in say bear form you might as well just have another race to choose from called the Kodan.
Yes, mine is a necromancer. You can tell by the bugged staff looking like a scythe. I mixed T1 shoulders chest and shoes with the T2 legs and the Dry Bones gloves from the karma vendor. I used I think ebony dye stone dye for the fur and midnight green dye to break the color up and to keep with the necromancer theme.
Heres a screenshot of the selection screen, you cant really see the shoes due to the rocks.
I dont like judging because its opinionated, but ill post my screenshot just to post a screenshot.
I have a Norn female Necromancer. I like Norn mostly because I like the style. The cold and fur lining the armor, the warrior like image. If I could live like a Norn I probably would.
I see your point there, but how is a 1on1 situation in WVW any different from one in sPVP/tPVP? It’s true that class doesn’t really matter in a zerg, but in small groups and 1v1, class still matters very much.
This isnt a 1v1 game though. 1v1 almost every other class is going to win just because the necro prof is highly team based, thats why you never see necro roamers in spvp and they are always with a their group team fighting because thats where they do the best. 1v1 a theif warrior mesmer guardian or ranger is just going to shred you to peices, i do it on my guardian all the time when i see necros roaming.
There are hardly any top end teams with necromancers on their team because most all the other classes do much better, you can do much better aoe with a longbow warrior with the f1 ability and the #3 ability, guardians have so many blinds and helpful tools along with damage pretty good damage in team fights along with group wide block burn and health regen. Thieves are good roamers and can kill people pretty quickly mesmers can moa someone and they are rendered useless.
The main reason why necros cant really 1v1 is condition removal and no choice for power builds. You cant remove wells with condition removal and once the removal is down your conditions mixed with other peoples burst is what brings people down, and the way we can spread the conditions is highly team fight orientated.
Most the the issues are with spvp / tpvp, its fine in pve and wvwvw is all about how big your group is, it has nothing to do with the class to be honest. The bigger the zerg you have the more likely you wont die and youll either defend or take what you want.
In spvp though reanimator is bugged and allows people to rally from killing it (which it helps them do that by basically kill themselves and by time it is summoned its at 50% health), conditions are constantly being removed and a guardian with a mace can probably outheal the bleeds or just help with reducing the damage the bleeds do, fears last for about 1-2 sec given that the cd on the staff #5 is quite long.
For wvw though you just lay down your well marks epidemic and not go anywhere near the enemy.
Its seems as though most of you guys just look for a build link complain about there not being one, and then lashing out at someone thats looking for help. Get out of here and go back to WoW, we dont need people like you here that cant be bothered to read a post looking for help with all the information there him repeating himself that the only thing that changed in his build was gaining more power and losing damage from his survivability build.
The necromancer is full of bugs and there is a reason its the least played class in tpvp and spvp. Put it away until either the bugs are fixed or the prof is revamped (i hope its the latter one). Even with a condition build my bleeds are hitting for about 30 damage less than what other people have stated. 113 damage from my bleeds but others have stated around 140 damage for their bleed, same build and everything.
In each game that I play, if there is a necromancer or warlock class i play it. I played demonology warlocks, unholy death knights, reapers, witch doctors, necromancer warlock combo in rift, malzahar in league of legends. All of these deal with pet / dots for the most part other than witch doctors which can be for burst but i like to use locust swarm, thats what i call melting enemies with damage over time abilities.
Im use to dots and if i wanted to see a high number class i would just play something like a mace / greatsword guardian. The necro does need a complete rework, the staff marks are just underwhelming (#5 more than anything) the best way to stack bleeds is crit and the scepter throwing in signet of spite and epidemic for aoe. Though everything will be dead before you are even able to get your epidemic off.
Everyone said that the necro in Rift couldnt do good damage yet i always topped meters on boss fights with pulling out all my pets dotting everything up with the spread of my pet (yes my pet spread my debuffs) making all my other pets better, your pet crits would make your long casted “burst” ability instant and when you have oh 3 main pets and another army going to town its always instant so you have max deathly calling up. Lay down your aoe for more deathly calling so everything spreads from your pet (which is kind of like a well) your aoe damage is just through the roof. Mix in the warlock tree or a pyro / ele crit build and people just dont know what to do against you.
I would like to see the jagged horrors secondary skill only detonate the lowest horror instead of both of them at once, that will actually maximize the potential of the skill. Take out reanimator because the horror that it summons is usually at 50% health before its even fully summoned and you usually cant even reach the next enemy, or it cant, before it dies so its just a comepletely wasted 5 points. I say just give us poisons instead of stacking bleeds and make it so that our poisons can be applied while other classes can apply theirs. It might make condition specs a little too good though in wvw but to be honest, who really cares about wvw. Balance it for tpvp and leave it at that.
There hasnt been any bug fixes from what ive heard in a long time so they are looking into ways to completely revamp the prof, or they just dont know how to balance it and fix the bugs.
The thing most of you are forgetting is that you dont want to use staff number 5 unless your being attacked, 3-4 are on a quite a long cd so when you swap, you usually use 2-3-4 then your left with auto attacking.
You cant just weapon swap whenever you want so the weapon swap argument isnt a good direction to go. I truthfully think that with dodging and just moving out of the way slow projectiles have no place, any of them. If you can press A and sidestep a projectile something is wrong. Also staff doesnt really have a fun playstyle, lay down 2-3 marks and either switch weapons or auto-attack.
Not many of the other weapons arent that fun either. I do love necromancers though, theres a lot of things that are just… not fun. A pet on killing an enemy because you need bigger marks that dont last near long enough to do anything. They lose health before they are even fully summoned. The staff auto attack is slow and sluggish and needs to be changed, it just needs a fun factor to it. How to bring about a change like that i dont know, its a highly skill based weapon though. I think maybe making it a good aoe auto attack would fit the weapon pretty well since the rest of the weapon is highly aoe focused.
Instead of it having a penetration have it a siphoning blast or something that explodes on contact in a cloud that has aoe damage that is equal to 50% of the initial hit. It would have a long range and keep the same travel speed but promote getting a little closer in battle to land the hits better. It would still have the scythe effect but it would need a different spell effect. Or it could even leave a cloud of death that poisons people that enter it and it lasts for 1-2 seconds or something. If it lands it has some impact and has a fun appeal to it and the damage wouldnt be overwhelming since the poison can last a short amount of time.
I wouldnt play wvwvw on my guardian just because of trying to level as a melee there was a pain in the kitten and there wasnt a good ranged option, the staff couldnt reach on walls and the enemy could just backpedal away from the pink tennis balls.
I find it funny, I went rifle warrior a while back in spvp just for the laughs. I was on top of the clock tower wall after it was broken by a siege blast, glass canon ranger came in, didnt see me, i used a rifle 4 then popped on my mark kill shot then used a #3. I then jumped down finished him off and waited for the next victim.
Map awareness, toughness, and most of all… dodges = rifle warriors next to useless unless its a 100b warrior and their burst is down, you dont even need to kill shot them and they melt like butter. They had a s&b or axe and shield at least and didnt even try to reflect my shots.
Ive went up against rangers that drop in 2 hits and rangers that shrug off hits and use their dodges effectively. Its all how you play in this game, thieves needed a nerf because the damage out of stealth made it so you cant dodge effectively and its pretty much a free down and finish for them.
Even guardians have troubles with thieves and mesmers if you dont go bunker, they just dont die as fast against them.
This isnt like wow, race doesnt matter at all. Play whichever you want.
I have a warrior and a guardian, and i play my guardian much much more. Ive even seen people play spvp with all a full group of thieves. People have gone from necromancers playing as good as they can with the class, just to go to a thief and heartseeker spam and not worry about dying.
I have troubles with thieves just because you cant read what they are going to do through stealth. When they go stealth you dont know if they are running from you or going to pump out the damage. With a warrior however, if they start to volley you can block it as a warrior with your shield, you can dodge the burst ability because they have animations.
Thieves dont take hardly any skill from what I’ve noticed. The abilities they steal are better than the original abilities. That shouldnt be, if anything they should do the exact damage the original ability goes, nothing more, nothing less.
The warrior needs some help as a profession. Big time. I dont even want to level my warrior just because it isnt any fun to me. Axe 5 is junk, most F1 abilities are usless for damage, and their damage reduction isnt that great. Yeah they can burst with 100b but its not as readily available as other bursts. Yes, rifle F1 can be fired off relatively quickly but it is easily dodged each time it is available due to the tells it has.
The thief needs a nerf and everyone knows it. Or other professions that need it needs to be brought up to their level.
It doesnt seem like the scepter is a ranged weapon at all, just a melee weapon that can hit slightly out of melee range or someone thats standing still which people dont do in pvp at all. The only good thing about the scepter is number 3, otherwise it needs a rework like the staff #1.
When I see someone say guardian is support in an spvp match i make sure im top player in kills and taking nodes.
For the most part people know that the guardian is good in the right hands, im not the best but ive beat some people from Dara Mactire (yes the guild from wow that paid to have rank 1 glads in their guild) and they werent that great with their guardian, they would laugh when they 2v1’ed you and when they got 2v1’ed they would cry and moan.
Its not a support class and anyone who thinks so should learn to play.
I really dont see how you guys can see the scepter as a “fire suppresser”. All other classes with ranged, which is all other classes, can move out of the way and hit your team mates without suppressing them. Suppressing fire would be something that would attack fast have a fast cast animation but not do that much damage but over time if you there to take it you would feel its effects to scare someone off.
That slow ball doesnt do anything in any type of gameplay unless your right on the target and with that being the case you might as well just have a sword or mace with an offhand. If your doing DE’s the root doesnt work on any of the champions, so you cant land anything else, your only option is a staff if you want to do ranged because most of the people with slows dont know how to use their slows to slow things like the champion risen abomination.
Scepter #1 needs a rework, it doesnt take skill to dodge it, cant really be used in DE farming, and in pvp the only useful combo would be root, smite, switch weapon. If you cant use all the abilities effectively then its a poor design.
Here is a build that I’ve been using and have been asked what it is so here it is.
The focus is on Whirling Wrath, Zealot’s Defense, mobility, control and meditation healing.
This spec is the Ayra spec from No Scrub and I’m not taking any credit for coming up with it, I’m here to just pass on the spec.
The build is 20/0/30/10/10.
The traits are:
Zeal – II Fiery Wrath, X Eternal Spirit.
Valor – I Meditation Mastery, VI Retributive Armor, XII Monk’s Focus

Its a great dps build and with is quite tanky if played properly. Ive leveled with this along with some hammer / greatsword builds along with some others ankittenep coming back to this spec.
With proper team play you can see around 6k crits with this build and can also support your team with your elite if needed. You can also swap it out with wrath if you want more damage.
If needed I will also link a video of the build and gameplay. I will also post some other builds that I like if I get enough requests.
If your dying 3x faster than any other class i suggest you reroll or go back to wow and play a healer. I havent once felt the effects of ANY of these nerfs and people are just complaining to complain rather than actually LEARN the class they play. Ive midigated things perfectly fine in pve with just power precision mostly with condition damage and healing power mixed in and its not even the gear that i want. In spvp with team play and they focus me i get to about 1/4 life then back up again and everyone else is dead on the other team because i have so many OTHER tools than the 2 things ive heard the community complain about.
Learn to play, other guardians arent having the same problem you are, i hear thiefs are faceroll maybe try that.
And maybe the reason because you arent getting picked anymore isnt because of the class being nerfed, but rather you not being able to adapt and not a good of player that you think you are.

Dissapointed by the way developers are addressing retaliation on Guardian
in Guardian

I hate to call myself a guardian player with you bunch of babies playing the class. WaH something was changed because it wasnt working properly. You guys whine more that I Love Lucy when she gets flour in her face.
Learn some other builds, i havent had one problem as a guardian so far. And quit whining all the time it just makes you look childish and a person that cant adjust to change. If you like running just 1 build go play a necromancer.
Am I the only one that hasnt complained about any change done to the guardian? I guess my builds and my playstyle hasnt been effected at all. When i noticed save yourself gave all boons even if no conditions were drawn to me i knew it was going to see a change at some point.
Im guessing most of you want something like the wow mage where you dont have to play to win. Quit complaining and find other builds that YOU like, not something someone else came up with and is going to be nerfed because its a cheesy build, if an ability is working as intended then it isnt going to be changed.
I started out as a guardian and it was fun all the way to 80. The necro to me like a previous post sounds good on paper but it just doesnt work. Its lackluster has no oomph to it.
The staff is entirely skill based as in a skillshot weapon unlike most others. The only thing about it that isnt a skillshot is the auto attack. Most games with skillshot classes or weapons or champions like in LoL reward landing the skills and it does a ton of damage, but the marks are so… weak. The axe isnt good at all and its what you start out with. Dagger has mobility issues and i wouldnt run it at all when doing DE’s like the Champ Risen Abom. You will have your other weapon out most of the time which would be probably the scepter since people dont know how to kite though marks if you happen to miss one.
I think they need a redesign with the necro. My warrior is 10 times more fun to level I just wish the axe #5 was better than it is right now.
Ive also yet to have a necro beat me either on my warrior or my guardian and I dont even really have to try to beat them.
I use a sword and shield quite a bit along with a greatsword. Mobility, 33% damage reduction good burst on both weapons with an aoe knockback and aoe grip. The greatsword gap closer with the blind misses a lot even when right on top of someone but you just have to learn to work around it.
I like the impact visuals of the hammer its just too slow for me to play. But thats the good thing about GW2, no 1 set way to play, unless your a necro lol.
The shield knockback doesnt always work in pvp with a lot of profs getting stability now. It does feel weird that the shield doesnt have the block on it since a shield is about blocking. If they changed the shield and focus number 5 abilities and reworked them both slightly like 5 focus would knockback and give the damage reduction for your team that gets hit by the pulse. While number 5 blocks the 3 attacks and can give like regen or something instead of the damage reduction.
I think it would fit a lot better with the support number 4 gives to the team with blinds and regen. Do i care if it doesnt change? not really but i think it would be a change for the better and not make people scratch their heads wondering why the blocks arent on the shield.
Its just my 2 cents.
Sword is actually really good, its just not good for aoe. It has good single target burst with mobility. I like the shield though i think the focus number 5 is a lot better than the shield number 5. The number 4 focus can be quite good but with a sword blind and a greatsword blind, my aegis virtue my heal block and all my meditation heals i just dont run focus even though i like the block on it.
Just look up the Ayra greatsword build on youtube. It goes after power precition and toughness for the most part with trying to up the crit damage where you can. You do have to get the forge runes for your gear and dungeon gear would probably be the best for the spec for pve.
The only reason people are saying GS is nerfed is because they cant use their crappy symbol spec anymore which is easily countered unless you have really good team play or you dont have to move at all, otherwise just go with a whirl build with a sword / shield or focus offset and watch and laugh at all the numbers. I only have 1 level 80 exotic and i can get around 3500 whirl and sword #3 crits.
Those numbers are in mostly blues with some greens and a ton of magic find and magic find runes. You want total glass canon then do the above spec that Arc posted but if you want some survivability go with power crit toughness with a 20/0/30/10/10 build. In pvp you can 2v1 if you play correctly and you stomp mostly everyone aside from mesmers and thiefs but i mean really, those are op professions anyways with lawlseeker and moa.
