how many ideas r screwed because they dont fit into the marketing model of gw2?

would we have a better game without the gem shop?

what would change with a monthly subsciber fee?

the reason for this thread? i would like to show that everything new we see is there for a reason. it always need to fit some criteria. start using your brain again. rate the content by this criteria. u will see, there is always the ascpect “how can we release content that gives us the opotunity to make profit”. this marketing idea is what destroys the game.
ok, we got content. but how good was it? there is still no endgame content except legendarys. and what kind of model do they fit? u can buy them for real money on the trading post.

ppl think content upgrades r for free and to satisfy us. no its not. its for making money. they try to keep us busy with little effort. the problem with this! it keeps developer away from releasing good and satisfying content. many ideas will never be released because it just doenst fit this marketing model.

so we r stuck into something i cant rly call.

i can see thakittens similar to our hole economy situation. we stoped doing things for the right reason. its only for profit. it makes me sad. the hole world is suffering this illness.

Downed state's Place in the game

i dont like this kind of game design. imo there is a problem with rng mechanics that wouldnt work without it. if u take a look at other progress mmos there is a difference in the design.
gw2 has a horrible game design when it comes to boss mechanics. a good example is cof path 1 endboss. sometimes u cant do anything because there r crystals everywhere and u get kicked from one side to the other without beeing able to avoid them. its rng that makes it like this. if there is the posibility to get killed without beeing able to do anything against it u would rage if there wouldnt be a downed state.

now the design works like “ok, rng kicked your kitten no problem, we can pick u up and u can still engange the fight” u dont get punished hard by the rng because u can get up easy.

the problem is the hole idea behind the fight mechanic. to change the downed state they need to change the hole idea behind the fight mechanic. even if u r a rly good player u can get killed by the rng fight mechanic from time to time because its a lot rng. if they stick to the rng fight mechanic they arent able to change it.

the fight mechanic needs to be more static to fit into a regular death mechanic. so anet is in need of the downed state due to their idea behind the fight mechanic. wouldnt work without it. and there we r at the discussion about the role mechanic. in order to fix this they also need to change the “everyone can heal” situation. to fix the rng fight mechanic they probably stick to “tank, heal, dd”.

in some ways the game is stuck because of these design decisions. to change anything there is the need of a different class setup. the idea behind the “no tank healer” is a joke anyway. it is maybe possible to play most of the content with any setup. but there has always been the need of a guard in your group. most dungeons r horrible without. so this is inconsequent game design. they say “no healer no tank” but there is the need of a guard that kinda fits into this role….

the idea behind this is ok but now we got the problem that they r stuck with the futur game design. with the situation atm they arent able to release good pve content.

the gap between a high value item and crap is just too big. i was hoping anything will change for good with the loot revamp, but its seem to be even worse now. the day any enjoyable game releases im done here too. the hole loot situation is a flaw.

im not sure if there is still a bug. few month ago there had been a post about a loot bug. they denied it all the time. ppl were posting about broken rng a lot. only answer they got was “works like intended”. 3 month later they announced “we found a major bug with the loot table”

imo it didnt rly change anything for me. i rly like the game and it has great potential but the situation with boring zerg content, and rng punishment kills the fun for me. the day something similar releases im definitly gone. had a good time but im tired of this marketing strategie. take a monthly fee and develope real content. this pseudo content was good for some time but grinding achievements and doing dailys is not rly satisfying.

This kind of content is rly anyoing and im a bit confused because it seems anet is switching back and forth. what direction is anet heading?

first they stoped ppl from farming by adding DR and by making events rly anoying…. than they switched and all new content is nothing else than zerg farming events. at the beginning it was ok. now its just a pain in the a…

rushing from 1 champ to another, rushing from 1 event to another.

there rly needs to change something, because u r forced to play zerg farming events for achievements and there r many ppl who hate this kind of content.

if i would have known this before the big loot change patch were released, i would have never said i welcome changes. farming cof path 1 was excellent compared to the situation atm.

ppl who like to play with small grps get punished hard. i like to play content for 5 or maybe 10 ppl. all this new stuff needs a big grp and its just nameplates, aoe effects and u try to tag as many mobs as possible.

so basicly the goal is tagging mobs hard. this should be fun? running around like an idiot to tag every mob?

im sick of this stupidity. do anyone at anet even play their new releases? i doubt thats the case….

im 30 and i dont like the new content. was hoping for a “normal” content update. this doenst fit into an fantasy mmo and i dont unterstand why we dont get any good content that stays interesting like fractals. it took time to devolope this stuff and for me its a waste of time. its lacking more and more…

Old Anet cashshop :

-Costumes linked to events.
-Those events had new skins, greens and minis available as drops + via tokens earned in the game.

New, Nexon lite cash shop:

-Costumes linked to events
-Those events have little to no rewards (Karkas event) .
-Have to gamble in the cash shop for a new weapon skin token reward (Good boys , buying 50 + keys)
-If skins are craftable , you need a mystic forge recipe that is on par with foefire’s essence mystic forge recipe
-Free weapons are skins no one want (Wintersday weapons)

I don’t know about you, but I got a lot of stuff out of the Karka event, including a precusor, The Hunter. A lot of people did get precursors and named exotics and other stuff out of that. And an exotic earring and a 20 slot bag.

I’m not sure what you wanted, but a lot of people loved the rewards from that event. Mind you the event itself sucked, but that’s a different story.

but thats exactly the problem. some ppl get a precurser that is worth 600g, while others r ending up with nearly nothing, compared to the 600g….

there has never been a game before with such big loot gaps…..

5 ppl who did exactly the same get totally different rewards…. rng is not rng…. .gw2 has definitly the most horrible rng ever….

in every other game ppl get nearly the same rewards by doing the same thing…. there has never been such a big gap…..

in this game here its just insane….. its not creating fun to waste all your stuff u earned before by burning it in the toilet….

It will make balancing easier, and no more collateral damage.

For past few months I thought Anet is able to do the impossible and balance PvP/WvW without affecting general PvE. Unfortunately I was dead wrong.

I think after today, most of us will realize blanket nerfs/buffs are bad for GW2.
PvE and WvW/PvP just plays way too differently and the playerbase in each area have different concerns and priorities that often conflict with one another. It only makes sense to balance them separately.

agree! at the moment anet screws up everything while trying to balance both. quickness is maybe a bit op in pvp, but there is no reason to nerf it in pve. now they balanced pvp but killed the fun in pve.

Seriously a warrior quickness nerf that matters mainly in pvp and wvw (killing their one viable build that was good and fun), but a buff to banners which matters mainly for pve. This has to be A-net trolling. Warrior was already laughably bad in everything besides pve. Now he’ll he’s just a literal joke.

time wrap always needed a good timing and u took a lot of risk while standing in the bubble. happened quiet often that someone died while it was up.
whats the situation now? is it worth standing in the bubble? imo no…..

this pve is rly simple. no enrage timer etc…. so why should u use it now? its risky and u dont rly need it. it maybe takes 30 sec longer to kill the boss. is it worth the risk? in most cases i would say no….

time wrap and skills like that r FUN. now u just took the fun away. less reason to play…. feels rly boring now….

Time warp was OP as all hell, my guild sall this nerf comeing from mile’s away. Funny to me to see all the people crying about it

7 month ago: “game and classes r balanced”
now, 7 month after release they figure out “hey, this skill is miscalculated by 50%”?
THAN they released a horibble balanced game….
Latest patches didnt tweak a few little things… its changes major things that i think r not accaptable.

the nerf is a big nerf to having fun and feeling like a hero, thats the problem. I dont care about dps charts to classes and all that BS. I like to feel cool and do cool things. Whereas before time warp was an adrenaline rush, now its like slight cup of coffee, and hate coffee.

as for rangers, its a bit different, this actually hurts the dps of the QS on swap greatly.
3/15 seconds, and more direct nerf to pet dmg since they primarily AA, and already have problems hitting moving targets due to animation cast times that also lock movement.

latest changes just killed the fun in many ways. there r certrain situation that gave u a thrill. now everything gets boring.

i had to find the perfect timing and the right spot to cast time wrap. now i dont have to care about it anymore. the risk is not worth the trying…. i took a big risk to have a perfect timing. no risk no fun. with these changes the gameplay feels even more braindead.

it took 7 MONTH to realize a skill is miscalculated by 50%.

change it for pvp to 50%. thats maybe ok. but the 100% in pve has never been op. u always need to take the risk to stand in the bubble. now is uselees. taka a lot of risk for a little bit more dmg….. now 1 just person needs to die while its up and the hole think was useless…

Imo there has been no problem with quickness in pve. there i maybe a probelem in pvp, but this is no reason to make it useless in pve.

it took 6 month to adress there is a problem. a skill that is 50% imbalanced…. i think its really sad something like this happens… 6 month!!!! this skill has been 50% op. is the balance team bad or stupid?

A: you don’t have to sacrifice everything and run pure MF.

B: if slightly lowered stats make you go from “productive team member” to “useless body that needs to be carried through content by your party” …. i’d say your ability to play the game effectively has some bigger problems to overcome.

MF means my character deals less dmg…. less dmg = everything takes longer and im getting carried because im not playing with my characters full potential…….. so im getting better loot while wasting other ppls time?…. this is not my definition of “fair”….

imo there r not enough server.

effort/loot balance is causing big problems atm… and i dont think chest rewards r too good… fractal/mob and dungeon rewards r just too low…. needs to be more constant… maw chest reward can vary between 50s and 4g… disenchanting rare item gives u between 0 to 3 ectos…. u should at least get always 1 ecto…. it often so frustrating….

just think about the reason….anet made some changes and most ppl changed their farming pattern…. most chest events r pretty much free loot. do ppl want hardcore or easymode content? do ppl play for loot or “just for fun”? is loot = fun?

many ppl stopped playing fractals since loot is not worth the effort…. there has to be a much better loot balance….

im playing for loot and fun but things changed since last patch. lately im spending most time afk while waiting for a dragon. playing dungeons is much more exausting and rewards r not worth the effort.

“So a group of us just did CoF Path 1 so 60 tokens. We changed to alt characters, ran CoF Path 1 again, but this time 3 out of the 5 people in the group only received 30 tokens. The other 2 received 60. Same group of 5 people though so I am not sure if this was intended.”

stop running the same dungeon/path over and over. this is working as intended

wrong! plz stop writing bs…. first run with every character gives u 60 token. and im just running this dungeon and path once a day with every character….. need to equip 3 chars, so nothing wrong with that….
and if its working as intended, third run shouldnt give me 30 token…..

happened in different dungeon already….
first run with guard, 60 token…. second run with mesmer, 30 token……. third run with warrior, 30 token…. and only ~12s happened a few times now, probably 500 token +gold r missing…. still no fix? come on….

people who set themself as a goal to “farm non-stop” for a legendary are not people who love the game, nor people who will stick with the game in the long run.

people who do a little bit of wvw, little bit of pvp, some alts in pve; are the players who enjoy the game the most.

this is idealistic and dogmatic thinking.

why do ppl play this game? one reason is progress. ppl always complaining about progress.. anet trys to makes it look like there is nearly no progress. no mmo is a game without progress.

even if u r goal is not an item, your still playing for the reason of progress…

a game without progress would mean u will always stay lvl 1 and there is no gear at all….

in every mmo u r farming non stop…. u r farming xp for progress… ppl look at this from a total wrong angle

there need to be viable ways for achieving your goal. if your goal is a legendary u think twice if u take the hard way that gives u a bad reward.
frac 20+ is fun, but if your goal is a legendary and u end up with 50s after 1,5 hours its kinda….
and how do u know whos enjoying the game most? this is just….

ppl stick to a game if they have goals to achiev… if there is no prgress at all ppl leave…. anet now introduced the new content blocking laurel system. it looks like there is nearly no progress, but its just slow anoying progress….

u need to understand the nature of a “f2p” game…. that is why ppl dont understand the stupidity of the new content….. they try to keep ppl busy so they spend more money on their gem store….they try to herd ppl with uselees content… make everything harder so ppl r busy for a longer time….
ppl also think anet releases content for free… wake up plz…. nothing is for free….
.. their goal is to make money by selling gems for real money…… so if u r rich….. u can just buy it….

randomness…. thats the big issue…. just feels strange to see ppl in your grp loot exotics and lodestone and u end up with 1 rare…. its often a 4g gap….
i enjoyed playing frac too, but i got sick of it due to the big loot gap. its much better to farm events to sell bags and stuff….
there have always been rly anoying parts that i could only arange with by using spy kits… dredge fractal 20+ is just anoying… so now i stoped playing frac because timespend/reward is even worst…. wirhout spykit it could take up to 20 mins longer depending on your grp….

Yesterday someone from my guild asked in guild chat (where can i get vials of powerful blood). had to tell him its not worth farming them, he should farm gold to buy them in auction house since its sooooo random….
i played nearly every mmo in the last years and there is one thing that changed with gw2…. there has always been the chance to farm stuff u need in other games…. this has always been enjoyable. its like growing your own food or buying it in a supermarket …. it feels different…. i need a “pearl” for example. ok lets go into the world and get one….. im missing this feeling….
for me the randomness doenst feel right… its a big issue…. lets say i got lucky and i got 10 rares in a short period of time… this should give u a thrill…. it creates pain instead of happiness since its so random how many ectos u will get…. this has to be much more static…. a chance between 0 – 3 is horrible… sometimes i end up with 1 ecto out of 5 rares….
there is a big gap if i compare my loot with loot from others …. its tooooo big…. ppl r always posting their loot from chest…. this makes me sooo….. there is a 2g gap between a charged loadstone and none….
3g gap between a rare and exotic….
there r probably ppl who got a precurser with less then 10 attempts…. but there r also ppl that throw already 1000g into the mystic toilett….
whats the reason for anet to make it like this? its just feels wrong… it doenst creat any fun …. just frustration…..

i always got excited to open “moldy bags” and stuff…. now im selling them for 3s because im always loosing money….

there is a lack of freedom. not enough ways to reach your goals… there has to be a much better reward system….
why is there no chance to buy fractal weapons for relics?
why is there no reward for finishing different dungeons?
why is there no extra reward for finishing all 3 path of a dungeon or different path?
why is there no currency exchange?
the daily grind…. why is there no dungeon daily or something like that?
missing tasks…. feels grindy…

is anets goal to force ppl doing only a small part of the game or is their goal to give ppl the option to choose how to achiev a goal?

the dungeon rewards…
there is a big gap between COF and AC rewards…. same amount of token, same amount of gold…. problem is the token reward… u cant get ectos from AC rares… so its not worth doing it…
small isues that make ppl play only a small part of the game….

another thing…. the legendary… there should be different steps where u get different skins till u got your final awesome skin…. ppl farming month for it and once u got it u r tired of the game because u had to grind your a… off…

i would rly like to know how many ppl stopped playing once they finished their legendary.. i know already 2 from my guild…. would be more enjoyable to have a few steps till u got your final awesome looking legendary.

anet is a genius in killing fun…. pve is lacking in many ways… the balance is kinda….. pve mainly builds up on stacking and avoiding…. too many anoying mechanics…..

it doesnt feel good to get downed…. and some mechanics r build on this….
lets take dredge fractal for example…. since mobs hit rly hard 20+ its dying on purpose…. just die on the button…. this feels so wrong…..

there is also a problem with loot that makes u feel bad…. no real loot table… evrything can drop everywhere…. sometimes u got 5 rares but u only get 1 ecto… this feels soooo……

this game is lacking in nice moments….. its flat….

changes r fine. but what did they do? ppl get forced to play broken stuff…. there is a big hardware/software problem… gw2 was sold as a game with big events and wvw… big events just dont work how they should. they r laggy and not smooth. there is no reason for playing events with 300+ ppl if u only see 30 ppl. u often cant see the mobs etc… so ppl get forced to play the not enjoyable parts of the game.
im rly unhappy with these changes because i never enjoyed these misconcepted parts of the game….
for me the only acceptable solution is a server split since they r not able to fix it. servers r too overcrowded
since i can see only 30 ppl max in big events it wouldnt make any difference if there r rly only 30 ppl…. they stick to their BIIIIGGGG events and server but its fail since it doenst work. would be much greater without the need of an overflow solution

they probably saved money by buying cheaper or less server. would it be a problem if there were only half the ppl on your server? since lfg is pretty much outsourced to gw2lfg.com it doenst even matter if u r on an empty server.

farming easy facerollable events and boss should not be as rewarding as doing tougher, more challenging content.

there should still be reward for farming, but to make it

and honestly, open world events are tag fest and really boring, but that my opinion.

i like some of the new content they did, but everytime they failed to nail something important. its very strange, and makes me go; O_o why ?!?

chest events r faceroll since u only need to tag a few mobs to get a chest…. kill the first wave, go afk, wait till event is over, loot your chest……

and now chest events r op compared to everything else….

farming mobs is much harder since u have to flag every single mob…. but its also more fun for me. u cant see any mobs at big events. its not running smooth…. 200 ppl on 1 spot but u only see max 20…. its a joke…..

With that change, you pretty much killed all desire I had to explore and do every event possible, thanks for leaving me with a bunch of worthless crap.

You guys turned me from a happy player who never used the forums, to an annoyed forum user who hasn’t touched the game in days.

same here. a few ppl stopped playing since patch and im not rly motivated since things i enjoyed r not enjoyable anymore. servers r overcrowded and i never liked big events…. this hurts my eyes and ears…. how can u enjoy these fights? not challenging, not smooth
now we r forced to play these to farm chests…. worst thing that could happen….

dont be naive….

f2p games earn lots of money too… ppl can buy their legendary with real money….

they bring new content to keep ppl buying stuff in gem store…. this is where they make money….
dont think they make it for free…. their goal is to keep ppl busy… thats why these changes suck so hard…. they r herding ppl by adding useless stuff that keeps everyone busy…. make farming harder so legendary takes longer and ppl stay longer…. and maybe they spend more real money to reach their goal….

latest changes r just killing the fun. i never enjoyed big events since they have always been overcrowded…. these events got worst but u r forced to play them since their loot improved that much. how can these events be fun? its a joke… its nothing else than flagging mobs…. but the main problem is, the gaming experience in these events is crap… there is nothing challenging…. your eyes and ears hurt…horrible performance. ridicolous….
i enjoyed faming orr… thats over… liked playing fractals and other dungeons for challenging stuff… for farming i just like to kill a few mobs… now orr farming is not worth doing it anymore and its exausting.
WP change made dungeons less fun since u have to care more about others in your grp. no problem with a good grp, but with newbies in your grp your fun is affected.
Spy kit change…. there r so many anoying parts in this game… spy kits made them acceptable…
the daily grind….
no viable rewards for running different dungeons….
since farming for your legendary is a big fun part for many…. these changes made it more difficult to find a enjoying way of farming….
cof path 1 gets more and more interessting. also farming chest with all your chars by guesting…..

i dont know if u can a chest twice for guesting…. im using it to get every chest with every char. respawn is quit long and it takes a while to get all chest with 3 chars. so i guest to get a chest with another char…

its anet own fault… chest farming is the new orr farming…. farming normal events become pain in the a…. so ppl switched to chest farming…. its ridiculous since these events never fail and r easy like……afk leeching chest events has become more interessting since u dont have to chase for mobs.
big step in the wrong directions with the latest 2 patches…..

is a companies goal to make tons of money or do they try to make ppl happy?

why do companies sell horse meat instead of beef? its maximizing profit….

companies give u the feeling they care…. but they dont rly care…. they only care about your money….
im not surprised about their decisions….
the most important thing is to realize that every company treats u like that…. they r fooling us….

they let u think they r an “angel” but they r acutally the devil….

farming chest events is the new orr…. just place a toon at every big event and u can go afk and wait till the events started…. tag a few mobs and u r allowed to go afk again….

its just a misconception…. they changed farming so ppl changed their farming pattern. now its worth playing dragon events so ppl stoped farming orr and started playing big events…. ppl just change their gaming style to maximize profit…. stupid changes…. now its worth beeing afk and waiting for events to start….
camping dragons is the new orr….. and guesting is the new option to maximise your gaming experience since every server is overcroweded. only way to fix this is to set up 3 times more server…..

but i talked already about maximising profit…. its nothing anet will do since this would minimise their profit….

for majority its farming for a legendary i think. or farming dungeons to get their sets etc…
the reason for that is the nature of humans mind…. ppl set a goal and they start progressing to achiev that goal….
our mind is a rly strange tool and it produces fun by himself by thinking if u reach this goal something is better than before… its an illusion, but we r doing it every day….

for most ppl the fun part is not playing the game…. its chasing their goal that was set by their mind…. this stimulates us and we feel good.
its not the goal that makes us happy or make us do something. our mind is just fooling us….
its the stupid game of humanity….
and u can see it everywhere…

we r pretty much creating our own reality…. set yourself a goal and observe how your mind is working on achieving this goal…

this is also the reason why ppl started farming cof path 1…. their goal is a legendary and their mind will try everything to make this happen. find the best way of achieving this goal…. this is also the reason why our world is falling apart…

money and might can turn ppl into rly bad ppl….

thats whats happening in games too….. there r ppl who want to have lots of money…. to achiev this goal they change their thinking pattern….
