All i can suggest (given i do not know your teams composition) is to try a dual pistol Condition spec. (possibly with alchy off)
That way your still contributing to your team (with alchy and conditions), while putting conditions on the enemy and putting out reasonable DPS.

Through Alchy you will also be alot more “tanky” i found.

You could easily reword that to a nicer way, something like :
I’d like people to keep this thread on-topic, the topic being the various ideas im putting out here as suggestions to the dev team.

It just takes time, this game isnt press 1-2-3 like every other game, it’s more difficult, every situation has a different setup, well unless your a rogue and hit the number 2 over and over again for maximum DPS

Lol, stopped reading there, no use comparing sPvP against PvE/WvWvW, which is what i use as my standard

I actually agree with most of what you said there.
You have to udnerstand that most of these kids come from the cartoon MMO, you know the one that just introduced Kung-fu Panda.
Mages there were incredibly OP due to the fact the lead designer was humping that class every day.

Elementalists are nothing like that class, they need finesse and know how, not to mention some mental training to remember what does what and where it is located

Other then that, this has to be THE best way ever to put a video out to get some add revenue

The class is riddled with bugs, it only has 2-3 good specs to use, none of which stand out in a crowd.
However in a team with solid teamwork you will perform slightly better then some classes rightnow, i would say Engineers are in the middle of the pack, with Wars & Rogues at the top, and Elementalists and Necroes near the bottom.

For Flame Thrower :
1st of all stack Power and Crit, you want to get nice big juicy crits, and the burn dmg you will be getting off of crits later on, rightnow not important. (by the time this becomes important you can either mix n match or get gear with precision/power/condition)

2nd of all go get yourself a rifle, it is incredibly cost ineffective to keep pistols up to date rightnow, especially since their stats etctera are not counted when your using your flame thrower, so in short : updating 1 rifle through karma = easier then updating 2 pistols, waste of karma since you will be in your flame thrower kit 90% of the time.

I suggest going up the Firearms & Alchemy tree, aim for getting the traits that enhance the Flame Thrower, reasoning behind rifle is pretty obvious, just look at some of the traits, and alchemy has that nice juicy +15% flamethrower dmg in it aswell as giving you some great survivability.

As for how to kill in PvE : backpaddle, just DO NOT backpaddle in PvP of any kind.
The mob AI is dumb enough to walk forward stop dead in it’s tracks, try to use an attack ability while getting hit by FT, and miss due to you backpaddeling, then start all over again, works even better if your using a Thumper turret <- FT’s best friend ever!

If using this in PvP see yourself as a skrimisher, someone who flanks others, i have done this in our WvWvW fights alot of times with great success, though sPvP is less so successfull due to it being small scale. but luckily with using the exact same spec you can make a nasty dual pistol/HGH spec, only need to change 3 traits around, keep same tree’s.

Engineer > Elementalist.

It is literally a direct upgrade in all aspects. Anyone telling you otherwise is just arguing for the sake of arguing.

Plenty of Engineers would say it’s the other way around, grass is always greener on the other side.
To me both professions are equal to be honest, only when you start pidgeon holing the engineer to ‘Nades only he pulls ahead.
Personally i’d rather play a Elementalist due to the carpal tunnel syndrome of the exciting Grenade combo of 111111111111 deadmob, 1111111111111111 deadmob 1111111111111 deadmob.

But that’s me
If that’s what your looking for you might aswell make a D/D thief and spam number 2, which is by far more effective then any ’Nade spam.

@Ahmon i think you misunderstood the poster above you.
There are alot of people coming here claiming necro is fine, posting some random build they thought up off while probably taking a dump on the toilet.
They claim they are wtfpwning everything in sight and that the necro is fine, however they have absolutely no proof or foundation for these alleged claims.

I agree with QSpec here, let them put their money where their mouth is and come with a clear video that has no fancy editing etc… if there are some good fights in it that can show off the necro player won over an equal oponent then i think people should start re-evaluating their opinion.

Untill then these people coming here claiming to be the “saviour of the necroes” are nothing more then some scrubs who talk alot but have nothing to back up their claims.

Simple answer to ask yourself :
1) Do i want to use various F1 through F4 to switch between skills to attack
or
2) Do i want carpal tunnel syndrome from the Engineers best DPS skill combo which would be : 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 <- you get the picture, namely using Grenades or bombs.

I have both, and while the engineer puts out more DPS and has more survivability, to get most out of the class you need to use either ’nades or the bombs, both are clunky and you will use 1 button 95% of the time.

But to be more specific : Have you checked WvWvW? alot of people are getting their last few levels there while having fun over the frustration that is current Orr.

Myself? i skipped Orr all together and went to do WvW and Frostgorge.

Those are hidden inside small instances at the very top, there’s 2 story instances, but you can enter those at any time.

There is also a jail cell at the very bottom.

You have a point, i think the overal return rate of DMG done against 1 button pressed is too out of whack with both warrior and thief.

Mine Field → Regenerating Mist → Detonate mines x 4 = 4 heal waves, each being around 5-6k.
There’s plenty of posts on this forum boasting about this, and even some builds posted that abused this, if you think this wouldn’t get noticed your being extremely daft.
