Darn. After reading this whole thread and watching the hysteria build higher and higher, I think the Devs are not saying anything because they are afraid to say anything.
Despite what I said in an earlier thread about people wanting to become Sprocket trillionaires when the quantity of sprockets in the trading house dry up, I do know you all are afraid, some quite terrified, that Anet will keep on adding Pay To Win extras in future gathering tools.
I am an older Player. As such, I have learned somethings are just not worth getting in a stew about. I have seen my parents get older, I have seen my better half have a stroke and almost die, My beloved cat did die…This pick, and the threat of future gathering tools with perks in the gem store, to me, is not something to lose sleep over.
If worse comes to worse and Anet does indeed put infinite gathering tools with small perks in the gem store then you all will do one of two things. You will either ragequit, or you will put on your big boy/girl pants and deal with it…maybe skip going out for lunch one day and bring a sack lunch. At today’s prices, the cost of a lunch is darn near the cost of a gathering tool.
Anet, what you can do to calm people in this thread, at least I think it will help calm people, is change the drop tables of all the gathering tools to include sprockets and whatever other goodies you add to future tools.
And come out and talk to us. I think you need to.
Lisa-Pensive
I agree with Lishtenbird.
Most people will delay buying until they know they are getting the best deal and can afford it.
Anet, since this playerbase loves sprockets so much, if I were you, I would ensure that there is no shortage of sprockets in the Trading House. I dunno how, maybe add sprockets into the table of things that can drop when you mine ore with both Gemstore and regular types of pickaxes…and do this for all extra things that come with future Gemstore gathering tools.
Personally, I delete my sprockets as I have no use for them and would rather have a chance at an extra gem or an extra ore.
Lisa.
Reading all this, I am glad I am not in charge of making money for the game through the game store. Players are not very forgiving…one bad decision could at the least drive this poor soul into taking up sinning in a beer joint.
I do think the prices are expensive. The clothing bundles appear reasonable until you take into consideration that you have to buy another suit of armor to put under it, and, depending on your level, Transmutaton stones or crystals to stick it all together.
I think, and I am probably wrong about this, I think they should see what happens if they cut prices in the Gemstore for a month as an experiment to see how selling for less but hopefully in greater quantity might fare.
People are attracted to sales and low prices…..
Lisa-Thinking and pondering
I don’t write to the forums a lot and don’t know how to edit. I wanted to clarify that the picks on my alts mining steel in a cave means they don’t have to return to the bank as often.
Lisa-needs to learn how to use forum tools.
Oh my gosh..just oh my gosh. This poll is stupid because everyone can see how you are voting.
The cool kids on the forum say they don’t like the pick. The forum goers who want to appear cool agree with the cool kids so they can share in coolness….the cool kids friends agree with the cool kids opinion because well, they are friends.
Some other forum goers agree they dislike the pick because that is how the majority seems to run, and if the majority agrees then by jingo the pick is no good.
Mob mentality.
Also, what if a group of..“Ebil Marketeers” were looking into the far future with plans of capturing the sprocket market when the Trading Post supply of sprockets dry up and the new players don’t have sprocket mining in their home instances.
These new players will be forced to the Trading Post where the Ebil Marketeers will profit, profit, profit!!!!!! Heck no, they don’t want Joe on the street to be able to mine sprockets as that will cut into their sprocket profit. These players are using mob mentality to protect their future markets.
I am a proud owner of this sprocket generating pick. I love the colors.
I have a set of each of the previous mining sets spread out on all my alts, and I don’t feel cheated at all. I bought them so I don’t have to carry a metric ton of gathering tools with me. I even bought extra so a few of my alts who are in a cave mining steel don’t have to leave to buy new picks as often.
Hmm…After reading this thread, I would encourage you all to buy this pick and flood the market with sprockets to enrage those who are dreaming of becoming sprocket trillionaires
Lisa.
Hi Unavi. Happy Christmas Eve.
I have read and digested a lot of these “What is best to solo” threads but this is the first time I have responded with what I feel works best.
As you have probably heard already, due to us humans all being different with differing amount of keyboarding talent, differing likes and dislikes…and…I suspect many here are afraid to share their favorite for fear the Devs will get that dreaded" Scarlet" sparkle in their eyes , grab their trusty nerf bat, and start swinging away cackling “Die, DIE, DIE” You alone are probably the only one who can decide what is best for you.
BUT, luckily for you, it is fun to try out different classses in Guildwars2 because in open world PVE all can solo…this is coming from someone who is so much of a clutz I don’t team for fear of dragging my team down and getting mightly jeered at before I get kicked out of the team.
What I did when I first started this game is I made a Guardian, and a Warrior, and switched off playing them. It did not take me long to notice that my Guardian was surviving things my Warrior could not. Conditions were such a pita to me I shelved my Warrior and took my guardian to 80, and made another guardian, and another, I have a guardian of every race….oh me.
Months later, I discovered crafting and crafted my warrior to 80.
The difference between a low level warrior, and a warrior with all the traits and exotic armor was astounding. Astounding enough that I now have several warriors in my stable.
I learned my lesson from this shelving of my Warrior before I had really given her a chance, and starting playing other classes with the result I have a level 80 Elementalist, Necro, Ranger, Engineer, and level 77 Thief.
My favorite of all my tribe is a spunky little Asura Guardian who uses her racial slot skills quite often. According to the forum peeps, racial skills are not that good, but nobody told my Asura that
She Technobabbles, and Radiates, and Reflects her way all through The Cursed Shore…and mostly lives to laugh about it.
Anyways, sorry about my long winded answer. My advice is to find a class that sounds like something you would like to play, decide on a race, and go for it….stick with it at least to 40. At 40 you get enough traits under your belt to get a glimpse as to how life at 80 might be.
Good luck, and most importantly, have fun
Lisa.
Yay!!!! I received a card
I probably have the worst luck of anyone in this game, so getting a card makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
I treasure this.
Thank you, thank you, and thank you again.
Oh, and I was not sent an email asking me for my address. It just magically showed up in my mail.
Lisa.
THANK YOU Lilith AJit. I went back to Dulfy and reread her instructions and saw that in my flurry I did not see the “or” in front of the last item.
Bad Lisa.
I am off to get my darling baby Dolyax..and then I shall brew a pot of coffee
Edit-And thank you DaniKat
Hello everyone.
I am so sorry about asking a stupid question, but, to me it is not stupid. I bought two sets of the utterly adorable Winterday Minis, went to my bank and took out the ugly hats, socks, and gloves, then scuttled at top speed to the Mystic Forge.
I have never had anything to do with the Mystic Forge, but, I read the instructions, saw the four squares, and only four squares, to put things in, and then got completely confused because I have six items to put into the forge, not four.
How do I stuff six items into four squares???
Lisa-Feels very stupid right now..I should have been able to figure it out.
Hello again.
I logged into the game and bought one. Not having anything to use it on in my inventory I bought fifty soiled rags to try it out.
OMG! I love it. It went through the stack like a heated knife through butter.
I may take SRG’s lead and buy another.
Lisa.
Ok, you guys have convinced me to buy this
About everyone looking for a reply from a Dev…not only is this Saturday, but for some people it is part of a long Thanksgiving holiday.
Your pleas for info may be falling on an empty office building…hope not though.
Lisa.
Well, I am of two minds about this. Yes, I agree Anet never should have put a jazzed up cultural set in the Gem store, but, they did, I saw it, deemed it perfect for my Asura, and bought it right then and there, with real life cash. I was truly about to believe I would find nothing to suit her personality, and there it was…in the Gem Store.
Bliss
Then I read the firestorm about it on the forums
I want to keep this skin, and am terrified that the replacement will not suit her as well as this one does.
Anet…about this new replacement skin…could you make it Asura friendly?? Please?
Lisa.
Lisa digs in her big feets and scowls a giant scowl. Call me stupid if you wish, when I first saw the Flamekissed light set in the Gem store I did not think about Tier 3 culture armor. What made me squeal with glee, whip out my card and buy two sets, was this set looks fabulous on both my female Asura Necro and my male Sylvari Elementalist.
My Necro just hit 80 and I had been looking about in vain for an armor set which looked good on her.
I found nothing.
I was a sad panda until I saw this armor. It was perfect. Captured her personality perfectly.
I am going to fight for this armor. It was there to sell, and I, in good faith, bought not one, but two sets and am thinking about buying a heavy version for my Char Warrior.
However, I do understand and sympathize with everyone who struggled, and farmed, and spent a lot of time earning the gold for cultural T3.
I agree Anet never should have reskinned a set that was human only, and expensive to get.
If the Flame kissed one did not look so wonderfully good on my Necro, I would not fight for this armor at all….but…it does look good on my little Asura, and is the only Light armor that I have found that does look good on her.
Darn and blast.
Anet, if you are going to replace this skin with another, which is the right thing to do, please, please, please make sure it looks good on a little pony tailed, green eyed, demon of an asura. If you can do that, I will be happy and keep on spending real money in your gem store.
*Sigh.
Lisa.
Hello all.
I am sick with a bad head cold and can’t seem to be be able to put words together because of it, but, after reading this thread, I feel I don’t have to as everyone has done a beautiful job.
Speaking for myself, I am enjoying the frequent content. On my wishlist is more missions that can be done solo. Waypointing into Kessex and finding myself in a mission was a very wonderful experience. I am a reader. I love lore. I like taking my time and seeing all there is to see.
One thing I do not want to see more of in future Living Stories, or any mission in GuildWars2 for that matter is locking important things (Like Voting) behind Jumping puzzles. I am a clutz. I have real problems getting to some Vistas. Locking shinies behind Jumping Puzzles is ok, but important things, like voting, is not.
Anyways, I look forward to seeing what this talented bunch of Devs have in store for us
Lisa-Stumbling back to bed clutching a hot water bottle.
And Morrigan, so sorry this is an edit I meant to say this first, I love your choice of hair and color. Grand job
And my edit became a new post, I will learn..promise.
I have not a clue as to how to add pics, I am doing well to post, but with one exception I am a very, very, happy camper when it comes to the new hair styles.
Grin. When I peered at the backside of one of the new hair styles for female Asuras, I gasped, and then let out a very loud scream when I saw a very jaunty looking ponytail!!!!
Instant buy
I also like the Sylvari female hairstyle that looks like long hair. I colored the new hair red, and then proceeded to color her clothing in shades of red, green, and a dash of purple. Surprised me that this color scheme looked good with her blue skin.
The only disappointment I had was really only half a disappointment. I really love the male Asura hair style which looks messy in the front, and has different shades of color highlighted through it. The disappointment came in when I looked at the backside, the part I as a player spend a lot of time staring at, to me, the hair needs to cover more of the back part of the head…but that is just my opinion…and hey, I am absolutely loving the front, so that too was instant buy….aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I am sure the look of the back will grow on me.
Good Job Anet, and thanks
Lisa-Happy.
Oh thank goodness I found this thread, and others are receiving the same error message as I.
Somehow, knowing that the Arenanet system is having kittenfits and not my system is…relaxing.
And I too tried multiple times.
Lisa-Toddling off to pour myself a large glass of ice tea…oh..and I have Windows7
Update: And now I cannot access the Trading post at all. When I try, I get a blank Trading Post screen with a golden rotating circle…..I have a bad feeling about my chances of trying out the new hair styles today
Hello Tanef.
You are having problems too. Makes me sort of relieved it isn’t just me. My Trading Post works, just cannot buy gems.
Fingers crossed that the Trading Post Gods will fix this for us.
Lisa.
Hello all. I was trying to buy Gems in the Gem Store this morning and the system would not let me.
The error message I received was :
Error “Parse”
Type: “Ordermodel: error”
I looked about on various sites to see if there was a planned downtime to get the Gemstore ready for a heavy rush, or even if others were having the same problem as I.
I saw nothing, so I went back in game tried again. Same thing. Waited a bit, lowered the amount of Gems I wanted, and tried yet again. The third time I tried I could no longer poke confirm when I could before.
What does this mean? Will I be able to purchase Gems later on today? Will I have to go out and buy a Gem card?
I have never had a problem like this before.
Thanks everyone in advance .
Lisa-Very puzzled and wants Gems for new hair styles.
I raise my bottle of diet Dr Pepper to the idea of finding a method of storing street clothing that does not take up valuable bag/bank space. If such a method sprang into availability, I would buy every piece of street clothing that showed up in the gem store…I have a human warrior female who would very much love to become a clothes horse…warriors like pretty things too
Sorry, I have never tried to quote on this forum, thus the need for an edit.
First of all, I am in my 50s. I know all about real life. I know that sometimes you just have to man up and try to find a silver lining to doing things you really do not want to do, but I also know people are not mind readers and expressing your dislike of something can sometimes bring change.
I don’t see moaning here, I see people, like me, who do not like or want forced teaming, and they are saying so…trying to get their voices heard.
Aw Kitten, I just wrote a long post and deleted it.
The gist of what I want to say is I think everyone will be pretty much happy if the forced teaming stuff was left out of the monthlies.
Happy players is equal to a thriving game.
Now, have to get ready for work.
Lol dude, what will complain and moan about everything will improve anything in your reallife? Nothing, only atenttion kittens will come. So no use on complain. You dont like the monthly? Dont get the monthly. Just grow up.
Ah btw, there were already kids crying on this topic. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/I-do-not-like-the-Feb-monthlys/page/2#post1347739
Now its two topics with the same QQ. Time to work mods[/quote]
Lambent..I did all the DEs and only ended up with 1 combo win.
I play Warrior and Guardian….Hmm ..Longbow you say???
Spam it and hope for the best???
I can do that and will try it.
Thanks.
I am very concerned about this needing an ally to complete the combo part of the Daily. I am a clutz and therefore I avoid “Teaming” but love doing the DEs where I can jump in with a bunch of people, and very happily do damage to the evildoers of Tyria…I guess I feel that if I am not on a “Team” I can’t be jeered at…
ANET, you have soloers amongst your ranks, who, if they are anything like me, spend freely in your Gem shop, and thus contribute to the financial health of the game Don’t spit at us…please…
Squee…GM Lloyd is in the game
I am a long time City Of Hero player, and you saved me from going postal numerous times by finding for me that last dratted minion in a kill-all mission..hated those things.
I am confused though…
“Join with me in remembering this :”
Remembering what?
I get nostalgic about City Of Heroes at least once a week…there are so many things in this game that I wish had been in City and by the same token there are a lot of things in City that I wish were in this game.
I wish, I wish, that Guildwars could expand by adding a land to Tyria, and make it a small slice of City Of Heroes. City and Guildwars are owned by the same company so if anyone could legally incorporate a bit of City Of Heroes into their game it would be Guildwars…heartfelt sigh…if wishes were fishes.
Anyways, I am thrilled to know you are a part of Guildwars.
