Guild Wars 2

First of all a big thanks to the Devs for fixing a lot of the wrongness in the new patch. I am especially thrilled that crafting experience was fixed. I did some crafting this afternoon and progressed the correct amount of levels.

That said, something really has to be done about the traits. Yes, you can buy them, but they are terribadly expensive both in gold and skillpoints.

Everytime a new skill is added it costs skillpoints. If we buy our trait unlocks, we do not have many skillpoints left….there are only so many in the world and if we play Alts, that takes away on our earning skillpoints on that character (the one who bought all the traits) through leveling.

I then looked at all the things you have to do to unlock them…zone completion, forced teaming..brrrr..there must be another way.

How about giving us activities to do instead….like having to open so many Vistas, fight x amount of veterans…maybe set the unlocking up like our dailies and monthlies, and achievements.

Place plaques around the world for us to find and read…

Please think about it at least.

Hmmm…..when the patch first dropped I was one of those who did not like it, but, then I played it and it slowly ( I say slowly because of my bad attitude and vet status) became clear to me that this might be the beginning of something better.

I had a bad attitude at patch drop because it seemed like the game was dumbed down too much…and…for me…because of my vet status…it really was dumbed down…I mean , no pet controls for my bear, no trees to chop showing up on the mini map, dancing to entertain cows..a real cow would run away in fear…but, I like watching the dance.

But then I started thinking back to the days when I first started the game.

I knew nothing.

I kept having to google things, several times I even felt like shrieking…and it then dawned on my that I would have had an easier starting experience with this new ’Fresh Start" and I may not have reached the shrieking part.

And this is why people say the game is going downhill. I bet a bacon waffle these folks yelling the most about the game going downhill are, like me, vets of the game.

Change. Change is a thing that is necessary for life, yet the majority of people hate change and cling to the familiar.

And hey, this new patch did bring in stuff for vets. Guilds are merged, meaning my better half who is on another server can help himself to my guildbank contents, when before he was out of luck. Mini pets are more user friendly..they are working on the problem..my pets were out my entire playtime yesterday

And the new trading post. I did not like it at first because it did not work the way I thought it should work..but I used it, and made mistakes, and learned from those mistakes, and knowledge added on to knowledge, and this morning I am beaming from ear to ear

And, I think they might have fixed the crafting experience problem. I hope so , because if not I may never make a new character…but I have faith that it is either fixed or will be fixed.

Anyways. Things change. The rigid trees are the ones who snap and break in a high wind, while the supple ones bend and survive.

For the supple, things will get better, for the rigid, not so much.

I intend to be for the most part supple.

Hmmm….Tailored for low intelligence players with fat wallets. Let me change that to players who have jobs and little time to play with fat wallets…If it were not for the working folk willing to spend money for Gems then this game would have little income.

Remember, Guildwars2 have the same developer as City Of Heroes did. That game was making money, but not enough, and got closed down. This is why I wince when I hear all the dungeon runners brag about using ingame gold instead of real money to buy gems in the gemstore. If NcSoft closes down this game due to not making money, the dungeon runners will not have a dungeon to run in.

So yes, they are looking for players who will spend real life money.

I posted in the Crafting section about this, but yes, there is something going on with the crafting XP.

I am not good at being a Ranger, but I want to learn, so I made a new one to try out the new patch. When I found out the pet controls were not unlocked at the beginning, I used a birthday scroll to get to 20. While I was clicking on all the new clickable things you get when you level, I was aghast about how late every thing was unlocking, so that put me off the new patch from the get go.

Once 20, I decided to craft the new backpacks using that character. Figured I would kill two birds with the same stone. I would get the backpack skins, and level up my new Ranger via crafting.

Darnnnn…I did Leathercrafting to 400 and got only three levels. I did get my Bear Back pack but I cussed like a sailor at the patch.

Colin said to be patient, and let them fix things, so I will practice that virtue…but, it would be a lot easier to be patient if I knew if the crafted XP loss was intentional or a bug.

Anet, what say you. Crafting XP decrease intentional or a whopper of a bug????

This happened to me as well. I made a new Ranger the first day of patch intending to play it without a birthday scroll to see what the new changes were all about….when I entered the Human start zone I noticed my Ranger was lacking pet controls!

I am not skilled at being a Ranger, and I did like the character I made, so, I scampered to my Bank to use a Birthday scroll. I was aghast at what levels things were unlocking, and I did want to craft the new backpacks, so I decided to use that character and craft all eight professions. Bah. You are right about the levels. On a level 20 Ranger I got maybe three levels….as a result of this reduced crafting XP, and important things unlocking at late levels, my view of the patch is unfavorable.

It will be easier to be patient if I knew if this nerf was intended, or if it is a bug and will be fixed.

Lisa scowls in thought at the Computer screen. Xenon, the way things are going, we just might get a VIP system. I was VIP in City Of Heroes, and if this VIP system is fair to the players, I will be a member here…but only if it is fair to the players….

Anet when it comes to the VIP system, please, please, please, do not listen to whomever drew up the plans for changing the trait system, and this kitten new fangled leveling system. I tell you this person has not taken their morning meds for a long long time, and is completely clueless as to what the Guildwars2 players want.

When I started the game, the only video game I had ever played in my life was City Of Heroes. This game is a lot different from City Of Heroes , but I learned how to get around without all the hand holding this new patch offers.

If I , who is probably old enough to be a granny to most of you young whippersnapper players, can learn how to play Guildwars 2 without this Patch, anyone can.

Jumping puzzles, and jumping for Vistas….that is another story…I need lots of hand holding in that aspect of the game…feel free to dumb those down

Big Sigh. My Ranger was stylin’ for a small space of time this afternoon. She had her bear mini pet running along side her pet bear, and on her back was the new bear backpack.

Then I got the message that the Mega Server had to hide my mini bear

Lord love a cross-eyed duck Anet, you went through a whole lot of work to get our minis into the wardrobe, and allow us to keep them out with us, even if we zone….and now we can’t use them, and it is intended by you that we can’t use them, when the Mega Server page we are on starts getting too populated???

The whole point of the mega server is to maintain a healthy population level. Does this mean we cannot run about with our Minis the majority of the time????

I want to run about with my little mini friends like I did before this awful patch.

On June 28th I did something nobody should do…I tried to buy from the Black Lion Trading Company before I had my first cup of coffee and was still critical groggy. I wanted to buy a Collection Expander, but ended up with a Bank Tab Expansion. If I was not maxed out, I would have settled for that, but, I am maxed out, so the Tab is useless for me.

I sent in a ticket asking if I could have a refund on my Gems so I can add 200 more gems to that total and buy my collection expander…I received a response that very day saying it, my ticket, was going to be sent to someone else for review and that is the last I have heard on this matter…the response was odd because it was sent to an email address that was once connected to the game, but due to my fright of hackers, is not any more. I updated the ticket asking how it was that they sent the response to that no longer valid email address.

Anyway, there is no hurry here, but I do not want to fall inbetween the cracks

I think you are right about developing the skill part. Every time I fell into the net, and I probably fell enough times to set a record, I think I added more info to my brain. In time, I made it to the top

Ignoring everyone who seemingly danced their way to the top of the sanctum was hard until I told myself, that I did not see them last year. For all I know, last year these youngwhippersnappers might have fallen as many times as I did.

I feel the same way you do about jumping….I can’t do it. My computer is fine, I am just uncoordinated

However, last year I could not jump up to the Sanctum..this year, this year, I refused to give up. I fell so many times….but I made it!!!!!! When the cut scene started, I fist pumped and whooped so loud I scared my cat who was snoozing next to the keyboard..he almost spilled my water glass

I have not done the new stuff yet…you say it is the same Zephyr aspects I beat into submission??? Oy Vay.

Well, I am again going to refuse to give up….but, I agree, Anet, when you plan your activities, please, please, keep in mind that not all people have the coordination of a young whippersnapper, hotshot gamer.

Oh, oh, oh. This happened to me to.

I buy Gemcards from Gamestop and more than several months ago, not sure how long ago, I noticed the cards had been changed on the back…there were less things to type in, and all numbers.

When I typed the numbers into the computer like I had always done, without spaces, the card did not work. After starting to panic, I typed the numbers in with spaces…
“xxx xxx xxxx”and IT WORKED

Remember to put in the spaces and you are good to go

Hello all.
First, before I get to my question, here is some background. I crafted a few characters to level 80 and did not do anything with them.

Now, that being said, I want to dust them off and play them. I was going to use some of the Powerful Slaying Potions I have hanging out in my bank..when I realized I do not know if it is ok to use a Powerful Potion in an area lower than the tonic, or should I be using a tonic which is the same level as the zone I am in????

Life has taught me that if I don’t understand something, it is best to ask a question no matter how dumb, because of I don’t…OMG…the messes I can get into.

There is so much of how and why things work in this game that i don’t know….being bad at math does not help either

Anyways, thanks in advance for any answers involving which potion to use—Character Level or Zone Level.

(1) Rent A Mesmer-For the portals because I can’t jump worth a flip.

(2) Ability to change the color of my hair ribbons

(3) Frilly, cute, armor for my Asuras. They think they are hardcore tail whoopers, but they have their girly side too.

Oh, oh, oh…I would like a patch kit so my Human kids can patch up that awful hole on the back of their chef’s outfit!!!!!!!!!! Please, please, please..with a plump, ripe, juicy, strawberry on top.

Hi all.
I have been playing with two Necros created after the patch. I finally got tired of lack of traits and since I had the stuffs in my bank, I crafted them to 80….OMG, with my first Necro (Asura) I only thought I knew what I was doing, really didn’t, and after I got done with buying traits at the Necro trainer I ended up having to go with a Power Necro build and had very little of the slot skills.

My second Necro (Human) had the advantage in the fact that I sort of knew what I was doing, but still, compared to my kids created before the new patch, she has a looong way to go to catch up.

Anet, I do not like this new way of getting traits at all. It feels like you were under a strict time limit and drew methods of getting traits out of a hat.

Traits are an important part of your character.

If you make the getting of them (traits) too hard, people are going to (1) quit making new characters, (2) new players who are casual are going to throw up their hands, and not play since getting to 80 is such a chore.

About (2) The casual players are more than often casual because they have jobs and lots going on in real life. Since you want people to buy gems to support the game and the casual people are most likely to buy gems in the Gemstore, they should be your target demographic…but…what do I know

Anyways, count my in on the list of people who do not like the current trait system.

I was happily traversing Metrica Province when I was sent the most elaborate Gold Selling whisper I had ever seen to date. Annoyed, I started to report it, when I saw that the name on the whisper, and the name in the reporting screen did not match. I did not report it, but I did take a screenshot containing both the whisper and the reporting box. Should I send this screen shot on to someone? If so, what address do I use?

Judging by the name, I just know this is someone’s hacked account…..these gold seller/hacker peeps are bold. If only they would use their talents for good….

Hi everyone.
I have a level 80 Asura necro that I got to 80 a year ago via a healthy bit of crafting and Dagger/Dagger and I forgot what else.

Anyways, I decided to make a new Necro and level in the open world. I am going to take my time with this one and have fun as well as try to learn all I can about this profession.

Highlight is fun, which for me is wandering about exploring all the nooks and crannies of the world and killing anything that stumbles into my path.

My experience level is I am a clutz. I cannot do jumping puzzles to save my soul and there are some Vistas I have problems with.

I do try to dodge, but being a keyboard clutz, I don’t do it well, and would probably be jeered at if someone saw me try to dodge

Anyways, I created a blonde, side pony tailed, human female with an attitude, used a birthday scroll, and set out adventuring.

I am level 23 so far.

My equipment/set up so far….

I had never tried Staff before, so I bought one of those as well as Dagger/Dagger

I am running with a crazy Bone Fiend named Pickles and a dignified Shadow Fiend named Hilda Rose…imagination is a scary thing sometimes.

I am also running Signet of the Locust

I get up close to the enemy, use my Staff, then switch to my Daggers and help my companions (Bone and Shadow fiend) polish them off.

Is this ok for my purposes??? I will never set a single toe into a dungeon, or a fractal, or WvW or champ trains.

Can anyone give me advice about what weapons, traits and armor an Open World, adventuring, leveling, Necro with a clutz behind the keyboard should be using…or can anyone point me to a Guide to Open World Necroing???

I am determined to make a go of this and not resort to crafting.

DonQuack, when I read your response about my email and how “They know about this email address” I wanted to slam my head against the table over and over again and shriek “I HATE TECHNOLOGY” at the top of my lungs. Then, I started thinking about the “What you choose to do now is your choice” and your last response about you having an email addy that only arenanet and one other company knows really got me thinking.

What was I thinking about? I will tell you.

This was a brand spanking new email account, only days old. Arenanet is the only company it has had contact with. The email address is totally different from any I have ever had…there should be no outside sources.

DonQuack, who is “THEY” and how did they get my newly minted email address???

I very much fear the answer is Arenanet themselves.

Could Arenanet’s email data base been hacked?

If so, I could make a thousand new email addresses and still be at risk…you could be at risk too…please, please tell me I am wrong.

Hi all.
I know this is a stupid question to probably everyone reading this but my allergies are acting up, I have not finished my first cup of coffee, I have to scoot my boots to work soon, and I cannot find the answer to this question on my own.

Three of my characters for sure are in Orders, one in each..but for the life of me I cannot find out who is in which order.

Where can I find out out my character’s order and their progression in said order, progression because I know others of my characters are in orders, just not very far

Thank you in advance for the answer to this question which is wracking my feeble brain. I want to concentrate on getting everybody into an order and would like to have a way of logging in a character and finding the pertinent information so I can get her/him on the road to orderdom

I would buy something that allowed me to have a choice of all my dyes when picking a color for a hair accessory…my Asura Guardian wants pink ribbons in her hair.

I would also pay extra to have a pink color added to the hair color choices..the pink we already have in the original color sets looks purple to me, and the pink in the new colors is too loud. I am talking about a nice pastel pink. We have light blue hair and light purple hair, and the male asura can have green streaks, so why not add a light /pastel pink ? Anet, you know you want to

Have you tried the new Outfits for your daughter?

You have to buy them in the Gem Store

(1)They go over your armor, and do not cost any charges to apply.

(2) They have four dye channels so she can play with colors

(3) You can toggle off the hat if you want to see your hair.

(4) They are account wide. You buy the outfit once, and all toons on your account can enjoy them.

I think right now there are three seperate outfits you can buy.
The Chef
The Pirate
The Wintersday fancy outfit which is really nice, and will only be available to buy for one more day? Not sure.

The forums are complaining about these outfits because the pieces cannot be mixed and matched, but I personally love them and can’t wait for more outfits to be added.

You can also buy your daughter an extra character slot, and tell her that if she wants to earn more transmutation charges she can do map completion in Rata Sum..the easiest city I have experienced so far.

She can map complete, delete that character, and make another..rinse and repeat.

Yay!!!!!! I have an empty slot. I think I will now get the other favorite starting pieces into the wardrobe…and do Rata Sum Map completion to get more wardrobe charges before deleting and going on to the next piece.

I was on my Guardian playing around in the wardrobe when I came across the back selections. One of the selections was my Engi’s starter backpack. Wanting to see what would happen, I applied it with the result that my Guardian is now wearing my Engi’s starter backpack and it looks good on him

Is this a bug?

If it is, I will go back to my Holo Wings as I do not want to get too attached to the look.

First of all I want to say I am totally loving the Outfits. I was hesitant to buy them at first because of all the bad things people were saying about them, but I bought the Winter’s day outfit and fell in love with the simplicity of using it, same with the Pirate Outfit.

I bought the Cook’s Outfit, and I truly love it on my humans, but there is one flaw with it that I hope can be fixed. On the back of the outfit, on the shirt part, is a hole. I tell myself that if you are fighting bad guys with the gusto that my characters do your clothing is apt to rip apart so my kids will still be wearing the cook outfit, but, if it can be fixed, and if there is time to fix it, please, please, please do

Anyways, other than that niggling problem, I am really, truly loving the outfits.

Angelica, I feel your pain. I have 23 characters..20 level 80s, 1 level 61, one level 35, and one is standing in the tutorial zone as I can’t decide if I want this character to be grandfathered in or experience the new leveling experience.

Almost all have town clothes.

I don’t know where you got the idea that this change to town clothes is a mistake on Anet’s part. They did this 100 percent fully aware of what havoc they would be creating among both the role players and those who thought the default town clothes were ugly.

Those of us who bought and loved the town clothes are being deliberately sacrificed to the greater good…hopefully it will end being to the greater good.

All of us are being sacrificed, not just Angelica Dream.

I am going to keep an open mind and see what these tonics are all about. If I throw a kitten fit it will be when I see the tonics and their behaviors with my own eyes. If I am horrified at what I see, I will storm to customer service with a list of all the town clothes I bought in good faith…but I am sure it all will be fine.

I know this is stupid sounding, but there are times I want to be on a deserted server. I am jumping challenged and feel awful when I see people bounding past me when I try to ascend to a vista…I am positive they are jeering at me and my ineptitude.

I will also miss seeing the two Marketeers I always come across in Rata Sum on Kaineng…I will really miss them…

Other than that…I am ready for the Mega Server

I am late to the party, but I want to add my voice to those upset about the Town Clothes changes. I am utterly, utterly thrilled about being able to wear glasses into battle, but, but, but, I want to be able to wear my shorts and hoodies into battle too

Tonics…hmmm…I will have to wait for the patch and see what occurs with that . If it is stupid, and looks ugly on my characters I will be in line with everyone else with my grubby paws out for a refund…and…I have many characters for whom I bought Town Clothes.

But, I am squeeing about turning my glasses into armor

Thinking of buying every possible set from the gemstore… Specially now when certain sets goes up on sales.

DON’T buy gem clothes right now. I can’t stress that enough.

When the patch hits on April 15th, the wardrobe system is going to turn a lot of the outfits and clothing into tonics and full set outfits that cannot be mixed and matched, or dyed properly. And they will become combat skins, not town clothing. And as we all know, combat skins cost charges now to change them. So your town clothing will cost charges now to change them out.

So DO NOT buy any clothing items until after the patch goes live. This way, you can decide if you like the changes or not and don’t get scammed out of your money like the rest of us already have (bait and switch). And then you don’t have to fight with Anet to get a refund, because they are restricting your refunds.

So wait and have patience. If you buy now, most of your outfits will become tonics and full sets that can’t be worn with anything else. Right now the outfits in the gem store are misleading and “full of lies” (weird way to put it, but it’s true). They are selling them based on having multiple pieces that can be mixed and matched and dyed separately, and don’t cost anything to switch out. But come April 15th, you will lose all of those features (bait and switch).

Err…Spyder…I think it is just the Town Clothes they are turning into tonics.

I am no expert but I have played around with the previews a bit. I have found that the previews use the same colors as the character you are using to do the previews…sounds confusing but I am very tired right now and can’t think of another way to explain it. Find the dyes you used when previewing and play with the different positions…you should be able to come very close if not the same.

This is a fantastic change IMO, though I’d get rid of #3, or limit it to just one or two traits at each tier.

On the live stream they said we could post our concerns and they would be read. Not sure how true that is but here I go.

I am a clutz. Because of this I do not join Parties. I do the open world DEs and I happily participated in the LA activities, but, in a group of five I fear I would be a hinderance and not a help.

Going out into the Open world and earning unlocks sounds like a lot of fun…if it can be done solo or in a Dynamic Event like situation.

A lot of people here say selling the trait unlocks is a bad thing to do, but these people are probably young whipersnapper gaming gods who have never suffered from poor hand eye coordination…so, please, in the name of the six gods, when you plan out the events for the unlocks….keep players such as I in mind…please.

I came home tired after putting in an 11 hour day at work..finding the new hairstyles made me grin like a loon, and all tiredness was temporarily forgotten. I absolutely love the male Asura dreadlocks. That was an insta buy for my Ranger.

However, My female Asuras are pouting now because they want that hair style. They insist that if they have to wear the same clothing as their male peers, they should be able to share the same hair styles. “It is only fair” they squeaked at me.

This morning I logged into the game to play a bit before going off to work. Problem was I couldn’t log in. It seems that sometime while I was sleeping an email authentication thingy had been activated on my account. I logged into my email and found nothing about such a thing being activated. I went to the official help site and couldn’t log in there and couldn’t log into the forums either.

I was in full blown panic mode. I was positive that I had been hacked and the email associated with my account had been changed.

Being locked out of everything, I could not find an email address to contact support, but “support@guildwars2 .com” came to mind so I tried that.

At five something in the morning central time, I received a reply almost instantly.

An Angel named..well not sure I can name names on the forums..but his name begins with M and he was at work at 3:00 in the morning Pacific time.

This Angel asked me to send in answers to some questions which luckily I knew the answers to.

I guess the answers pleased him because he sent me a link to change my password and he did something to get rid of the authenticator because once I changed my password I was able to log in with no further problems.

Words cannot express my how I felt when I logged into my account and found it 100% intact

Gaile, hunt down “M” and give him a big hug from me.

It all took less then an hour…outstanding work.

I’m at work so I can’t see it in game on my giant Female Norn, but so far I’m disappointed. I’m trying to hold off on full on despair+refund mode until I see it live for myself and play with dyes, but I wish this had been Winged armor or something; Feathered was always one of my least favorites (except for the head piece). Wish we’d gotten to vote between a few choices. Please post more screen caps of various dyes maybe someone will come up with a winning combo? The wing design on the back looks cool, at least…

Hugs. Do hold off on despair until you can see it for yourself, and play around with various dyes, and maybe play the mix and match game like I did. Remember if you have a mindset that you are going to hate something, you will hate it. And about the negative posts here…remember that everyone has different likes and dislikes.

I had bought two sets. One for my Sylvari Elementalist, and the other for my Asura Necro.

I am keeping them both.

On my Sylvari I don’t like all six pieces, but I found I can mix and match my way into a nice looking outfit.

My Asura is wearing all the pieces and looks very adorable and evil all at the same time.

Whew. I am very glad this is all over.

Oh my Gosh, if the replacement light Flamekiss is as ugly as the Heavy armor Flamekiss after telling us the replacement will be nice looking, then I fear that Light armor users and haters of the New Gem Store Pick will join forces and go on social media and rip Arena Net a new one. I supported the recall only because the T3 cultural with flames was so much ‘prettier’ than the other two released. Now at least everyone gets to spend gems on unimaginative (and fugly) designs. And the coming backlash will be glorious, as it should be.

I agree that the heavy armor is “Fugly” as all get out. With the proper dyes, medium can be quite nice.

Sadly, I also agree that as things stand now, between the new pick, and ugly replacement armor, when they promised us nice looking armor, Arenanet is going to have quite a PR nightmare on their hands.

Another pair of flat, clunky boots….

Another front cut away skirt…..

Another set of heavy clumsy looking gloves….

A heavy helmet that hides the hair……

Another set of shoulders that make a light armored character look like a linebacker…

I looked at that armor skin on Reddit, and that is no fit replacement for the original Flamekissed…and I bet it will look horrible on an Asura

I bought this skin when I first saw it in the Gem Store. I whipped out my payment with out a second thought…it looked that good on my hard to dress Necro Asura.

For good measure I also bought Flamekissed for my then male Sylvari Elementalist…I say then because “he” is now a “she.”

Then I read the complaints about it being a copy of Human Cultural.

ArenaNet, in response, pulled the armor from the Gem store, and got to work making a replacement which they said it would be…err…I can’t recall the exact wording, but, to paraphase, they said it would be worth the wait.

And they give us this armor I just saw on Reddit?? This is the armor they said would be worth the wait? Bah.

The facts are
(1) They put a skin up for sale in the Gemstore, I bought not one, but two sets.

(2) They pull it, and replace it with something ugly???? I know ugliness is in the eye of the beholder, but they should have made the replacement as close to the original as possible as that is what people plunked down their gems for.

If it looks good on my Asura I will accept the replacement as I do understand that mistakes happen, but looking at this model, I highly doubt my female Necro Asura will be a good fit for it.

So, I will be in line for a refund…maybe for both my skins if it looks bad on my Sylvari Elementalist, and I will want them to replace not only the gems I spent to get the skins, but also for the the armor underneath…Transmutation splitters, is that what you call them?

Please Anet, do right by those of us who liked it enough to buy it in the short window it was up…please.

Lisa-Hoping that this ugly model is not the Flamekissed Model….I am also hoping that color will make this model look better. I need to keep an open mind until it actually shows up in Gem Store. Open mind is always good…
