Sadly once again there is no new PVE content, heaps to do for fans of PVP, but we have had no new PVE content introduced since Fractals.

Im starting to think there is no point playing this game anymore as clearly the developers have no interest in PVE.

We were promised an “expansion worth of content”, ArenaNet has failed to deliver on this promise thus far.

When he said that he meant that OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS we’re going to be getting an Xpac’s worth of content. Not all at once. You’re gonna quit after a simple patch displeases you? There’s no sub? Waddya gonna do, uninstall the icon from your desktop?

No, but people expect a bit more than regular content patches, delivered by most common MMOs if they are promised “an expansion worth of content”.

For what I see, nothing in the February update looks like it is worth to be part of an expansion…

For now, there is no life in the living story. To be honest, what we got as January update in regards to PvE till now was not even worth a patch.

If you create a story arch, make people curious. There are many ways to achieve that, but just placing some random npc with no charisma over some maps without anything happening is not the best approach…

This area was originally a completed Canthan district and included a blend of Asian architectures. However, this mix of styles received negative negative feedback from China and Korea, since those gaming markets traditionally prefer a uniform design. Due to time constraints the district was replaced by the Great Collapse.

Look at the many bugs we have besides our class ones. I have little hope that these problems will get fixed in a reasonable matter of time.

Funny that this thread still is going on. Sarcasm is a popular weapon amongst mesmers when they fear getting into the spotlight.

We are always in the spotlight. Most of us don’t care. We have had so many nerfs, it is getting hard for ANet to nerf us even more without breaking our core mechanics.

Meanwhile, Warriors solo all dungeons, Elementalists are immortal and Thiefs instagib everything on sight. Which is perfectly fine, as people are still on the Mesmer bashing train. Look, a post without sarcasm, you are welcome.

Condition mesmers lack damage for leveling, especially in events. I leveled as condition mesmer back at the start of this game and I can tell you that as soon as there are more people around, you are in trouble tagging the mobs.
At 80 it is a different story, but for leveling I would go direct damage. Places are no longer as crowded as at release, but it is still a risk.

Even if I agree that clones should attack with the same speed as the mesmer, I fear it won’t happen as Mesmers could stack bleeds like no tomorrow with Sharper Images.

I encourage everyone who uses the leveling guide to play around with different weapons, armor and builds. While using my guide step by step will bring a new mesmer to 80, I think it is important to play around with all possibilities.

I for one wouldn’t make any decisions on under water combat though. It feels lacking in its implementation. While I like the 3D aspect of it, it unfortunately feels way slower than regular combat. Well, the game is still young, there might be more improvements ahead…

When I was a young Norn back in the days, I thought the event was really tough. All floor was covered in red circles, insagibbing me. Now I can solo it. I am not sure if it was toned down, or if it is just changed for me.

Do not forget, it is a low level event. Not everyone is on his bazillion alt. But I wouldn’t mind ALL world events to be a fair lot harder…

For now we just have to accept, that warriors are our overlords in dungeon PvE.
That’s a design decision and design flaw from ANet at the same time. I fear, the balance you are asking for will never be achieved.

Ever tried to hit F1? If you got some practice, try F2 – F4.

On higher levels, they help me a lot to solo all those champions.

You have to see ’em as resource you got to manage. Unfortunately, it is all more or less trait related, so the Mesmer is a class that needs time to evolve.

As a hotfix, I just cloned the server.

People miss a lot of content as a result of the nature of DEs. I spend hours and days playing low/mid-level zones lately. So many fun events, so much information to uncover.

The only gripe I have is, that after nearly half a year, my personal story is still not advancing. Time to give me some more “This is my story!” pretty please.

You could hope that the monthly updates bring new stuff, or that the living story would finally stop being so dead.

Another MMO with a GS wielding laser spewing caster? Well Age of Conan had a Greatsword wielding, Demon transforming, Hellfire spewing class called a Herald of Xotli. Was quite amazing… too bad the game sucked. xD

Had a HoX as main in AoC called like my Mesmer here.
I love caster classes with 2h slashing weapons. I like transformations (that’s why I rolled a Norn – and yeah, transformations in GW2 suck).

In the end the answer to your question, why greatswords, is: because it’s awesome!

Norn Snow Leopard form on any class that does not have access to stealth in WvW. Pop stealth, and use the dash skill to run away.

I was under the impression that an elite skill would offer something better than the option to run away.

As a Norn with stealth I’d say crow form, because hey, who wouldn’t want to whatever it does.

Seriously, Norn elites are pretty much a failure, unless you want to be good in running away once every 4min.

Living Story probably, and yeah, it is about time for some living in this story… ^^

Yeah, we got a weeks long grind for the best gear now. No way to cover it, and I don’t think anyone working at ANet cares anymore about their manifesto.
It is a dead horse by now, and you should stop beating it.

That said, I don’t care too much myself anymore too, just play for the bit of fun I can get out of it. I got so many other things to do, that I am sort of happy that this game is no longer too addicting… ^^

I farm Orr events perfectly fine. Mesmers can tag all mobs, even if there are multiple groups at a time.
Leveling can be a bit of a chore in the lower levels, but it will get better at some point.

@exilio: If you run with GS out most of the time then yes, your trait distribution would suit you better. One advise though, if you don’t really shatter much consider changing Mental Torment for either Empovered illusions (good for boss fights when you have 3 phantasms out) or Crippling Dissipation (synergizes better with Debilitating Dissipation from Chaos and helps you kite mobs)

Yeah, if you do not shatter much, there is no need to improve Mind Wrack. I will play around with a phantasm build in the near future, I will give you feedback if I manage to find something suitable.

Checked translation, it is still the same in German at least. I’d call it a typo, maybe some intern has messed things up (yeah, best excuse ever…). ^^

Btw, I love the GS/Staff combo. The day that I can get perma runbuff without a focus, it will be my secondary weapon for most activities, using my own build though. ^^

Your trait setup is a bit confusing. Are you shattering all those illusions or not? ^^

I’m not sure that all your facts here are correct. The torch has a combo finisher (The Prestige is a blast finisher). Blasts are one of the most effective finishers. Setting up the combo field then requires Null Field, Feedback, Veil, or Timewarp. (All confusion based, except for Veil.) If the staff is your secondary weapon, you can also use Chaos Storm. We don’t have any whirl finishers, which you said the GS has.

Further, Scepter + Torch isn’t a pure damage weapon combo; they are condition based (confusion primarily). Sword + Pistol or GS are both damage setups. Confusion is a weak condition in PvE. In sPvP or WvW, players do suffer from it, but they can also remedy it with condition removal. So, it’s a gamble.

Personally, I’ve never found a use for the scepter, so I can’t imagine carrying around two of them for the extra Confusing Images. This is the only weapon available to use that I actively avoid.

First off.. Blast finisher in Ethreal field gives aoe chaos armor, not spread confusion. Secondly GS does have a whirl finisher its the Berserker. Third the scepter can actually be decent for a power/crit build. The autos crit around 1k and the block is incredibly useful and also hits fairly hard. (thats actually with a low crit damage % around 30ish, I never used it with any higher).

In fact it is correct that iZerker acts like a whirl finisher. It just normally only gets 1 whirl projectile out of the combo field which is fairly neglectable.

Ebonhawke seems right, the place just looks so much more epic in the concept art.

Anyone with half a clue will spot the clones in a heartbeat. No offhand, standing in position spamming attack one, running straight to the target without attacking. No buffs be it food or skills.

But hey, I remember saying so in the other thread about reducing mesmers hitpoints, and I was getting flamed.

I wish GS had a whirl finisher. And the blast finisher on The Prestige is probably the best finisher mesmer have (but unfortunately, the torch fails as an off-hand, different story).

Now we only have so little weapon skills, and ppl still have no clue… ^^

Norn racials are a nightmare. ^^ They are useless for a mesmer, as the only useful skills are stealth in leopard form, which we have already access to, and running away fast, which is not what I am looking for as an elite…
