For instance, a party member puts you under the effect of stealth. Without moving your mouse over the stealth icon, you can’t see what the duration of the effect is. Same as with food buffs. These are icons for which the usual enveloping whitebar timer is absent.
The game should allow us to immediately determine whether 14s or 3s of stealth have beem applied without needing to mouse over the stealth icon. I would wish the timer be added to all such applied effects that expire, including food and utility consumables. In this area, the more info the better.
When you transform into an Avatar as an Ele, do you get the same HP as if you were a warrior?
Of the list of items i would like to see stack in this game, and specifically the tiers of salvage kits, BLSK’s are somwhere around bottom priority on that list.
They are pretty easy to burn through salavaging level 80 dungeon armor for insignias.
Don’t flame OP though. He’s a new player and is learning like those before him.
It is quite a remarkable patch.
I’m mean, im going from what I’ve heard. Because having uninstalled a couple days ago, it doen’t reinstall thanks to the new patch. On the plus side, I’m not stressing over missing the current experience too much and it gives me time to ponder the forums.

It has to be a bug.
There is no way they would alter one of the critical features of the game without making any announcement on it.
Aww…. That’s just precious.
Still believing that after all this time.
You hold them to higher standards and have greater expectations than I do.
Yeah, i genuinely do. But if it turns out its not a bug, then that will change somewhat. Am still expecting it to be a bug.
The reason I proposed the cap is to prevent having new currencies with every new release. The reason we can’t use Karma to buy Carapace armor and they had to introduce the Crests is BECAUSE there is a problem with the current currencies and the difference between old and new players. A cap would make this difference non-existent and allow us to get everything they might add using Karma.
I totally get what you are saying. I’m not pushing for a scenario where Karma can be used for Carapace armor etc. They will always need to reset from scratch with a new currency in new zones such in SW. We cant’t have a scenario where a person steps foot in SW for the first time, already possessing a (capped) stack of the zone currency. Everyone needs to start from the same place by which the only way they have currency is by doing the specific new events.
I like the change. Now I can put all people on block list who attempt to randomly kick people so I never have to do dungeons with them again.
The LFG tool will still group you with people on your block list.
I like this change and echo what people are saying. Anyone electing to kick someone has to be prepared to account for that proposal.
If it’s because someone is acting a total kitten, others will likely agree with you. If they don’t, then get out of that party asap.

I believe they should not cap currencies because a big idea in MMO’s is that the player accumulates resources.
They should continue to introduce new currencies for new events like SW so no one can buy the new armor set straight off. But also introduce an extra account wallet for all the new currencies that come along, so things like Bandit crests, Queens Gauntlet tickets, SAB tokens etc don’t swamp the character inventory and account bank.
There also need to be more ways to spend old currencies such as Karma. That currency reflects badly, makes it look like Anet introduce and abandon currencies and lack inspiration or interest in making them relevant to veteran players. When people have invested time playing and earning a currency, it should feel like it was a reasonably rewarding experience.
I’m having the exact same problem too as OP. I uninstalled the game two days ago and now it will not install.
Looks like it also used to be Chris Whiteside’s job to make sure patches worked properly.
Why would they change this
HAHAHA Revenge for the 30+ months of forcing PvE players to PvP for their world completion! SATISFACTION AT LAST!
As opposed to the 3 years that WvWers had to go PvEing and still have to…
For what? You don’t have to pay for repairs anymore, so money shouldn’t be an issue anymore, what’s in the open world that you need?
You still have to pay for food, siege and tower upgrades. That leaves a WvW tower defender/roamer with the option to either blob in WvW or go to PvE. I don’t care for either of those two options.
Well, ideally you could pay for siege and upgardes with BoH.
But think of all the people who are no longer going to get confused.
Posts like this better off in the bugs forum i reckon. Not here in General.
All those people in this thread, giving the same block-ignore, ‘bad egg’ advice.
I bet if they spent 4hrs or whatever on some farm, receiving little, and then some person passes by and flukes a big drop and links it, i bet a few curse words would hit the air at least.
I’m not saying it’s the correct response. But anyway, it happens that all the people who would experience that initial emotional reaction aren’t to be found on this forum. Which is nice of course.
Bad egg advice? How come? How do you suggest they react on this scenario?
Bad eggs, as in saying they are just bad people. Saying that they have no reason to express grievance.
Incase you previously read my comment differently in using that term.

My guild runs a WBT for a couple hours each night and we have had many precursors drop over the last 2 years. A few of those drops hit players that were new to the game, had just joined us, or they were very infrequent attendees. Did I get angry or jealous when it happened? Not at all. I just don’t place as much value in the possessions found in this game.
Just because you can’t wrap your mind around how other types of players behave in this game — doesn’t mean its false when they behave differently than you do.
WBT = world boss timer events i take it? Invalid comparison, same with someone fluking a great drop during a dungeon run. An event to which we all say gtz, especially if it is a guildmate. There’s a big difference. And that’s a difference i can definitely wrap my poor little head around. Can you also?

What do you thnik Anet’s future plan is for GW2, in regards the things they need to concentrate on to make the game sell and keep people in it?
Not what you would like to see, or what you think needs fixing. But what you think the Anet hierarchy think and how they see things.
I often enjoy and get satisfaction from smooth Dungeon runs while others consider Dungeons purely grind content with no fun attached.
I just have 148 slots on 14 characters, max bank tabs and a bank guild to the deep cave…
can stash up to 1000 in stash. and I do not care.
Your best frinds are 18 or 20 slot bags, a salvage o matic, a mystic salavege kit and then your done.
Well umm…. thanks for popping by? No one’s concerns were resolved by your post
This whole WvW numbers will suffer because people are no longer being lulled into it argument is garbage.
PvP is populated by people who inherantly wish to play PvP. Anet did’t try and stealth in some requirement in order to get PVE’ers in there. And now WvW will exist on the same terms.
While I agree that WvW isn’t going to die as a result of this change, one of your statements isn’t really accurate. I do a lot of WvW, and I am not a PvPer at all. When I played this game at launch, I had zero intention of ever going to WvW. Sounded like a nightmare to me. Then I had to go and complete maps there and I discovered that WvW did not feel like other PvP experiences I have had. I had no idea how different it was until I was forced to try it in order to complete my first 100% world completion.
I know dozens of other players for whom this is true also.
One of the unique draws of GW2 was its WvW system. Plenty of people are all about playing that game type. My counter anecdote is that when i was drawn into WvW for map completion, i hated it. It took me a long time to get over that experience and associate WvW with anything fun. I would propose that my experience is more common than yours.
Also, it gave me the impression that Anet were sufficiently desperate for people to engage in WvW that they were willing to use hmm….. less than honorable tactics on PVE players. That’s the impression I got, rightly or wrongly.
I share Op’s pain,. There’s plenty of basic stuff with the inventory system that’s wrong. Basic concepts like making the blue reward bags from dungeons stack. Just one example, there are many more available.
Thanks to the Living World events, players are on the path of receiving a never ending barrage of new currencies and tokens.
They should let us purchase more bag slots per character. That would be a simple solution to part of it, even if time spent on inventory administartion would still be there.
OP’s proposal is a bad idea.
The moment you look at your dungeon party think, ‘oh good they have legendaries, that means correct sigils for this path’ means too much of a performance advantage. I have a Purple wep and i woudln’t want this change.

No matter what definition individual players give, it doesn’t matter. It’s how the developers define it that matters.
Yes, ultimately, that’s what it comes down to. Anet defines grind for their game, so that is the end all and be all. We all know that Anet separates grind into required grind and optional grind, but one of the discussions here is whether anything can or should be done about the optional grind because that is minimizing some players’ enjoyment of the game.
Absolutely. Tell them to not do it if they don’t enjoy it.
The optional grind is up to the player. There can be no grounds for complaint because they are only doing it because they wish to rather than need to.
Freewill FTW
I’ll state i primarily play PVE and hardly any PVP or WvW.
So you don’t play the game because of PvP or WvW, ok.
I didn’t pick up this game because i specifically was seeking an escape from the trinity system
So yo don’t play the game because of the lack of trinity, ok.
I dont play it for the Living Story, soap opera feature.
So you don’t play the game because of the story, ok.
Why do you play the game, then?
And i enjoyed stuff like farming invasions. I was only a number of months into GW2 at the time and i found the drama of so many people charging around quite interesting. Plus the sub game of counting how many boxes you got each time.
Ah, I see.
So tell me: would the ideal content for you be something like the invasions, in which you have similar content to that and a chance to get a lot of boxes, with little to no lore or story?
Hi. Yeah I wanted to address some some of the core or unique aspects of the game in my post and see if people had contrary or similar opinions. And my post was partly prompted by having recently read on discussing the idea of Trinty.
I mainly play dungeons. Invasions were new at the time and novel in a way but i wouldnt be as excited to play them again now. but plenty of people enjoy Silverwastes loot collection so that section of the population remains there. But overall, I like the polish and production of thsi game, and that it has no monthly sub, as others mentioned.
But its not me more than anyone else. I stated the thread because i was curious about other peoples thoughts on it.
What aspects do you like it for, Test?
Broadly, I think Anet have done a lot of things well.
I’ll state i primarily play PVE and hardly any PVP or WvW. I like that i can take breaks and pick the game up again later. I haven’t played a game where i couldn’t do that but i’m aware they exist.
Relating to a recent forum topic, I am not anti-trinity. I didn’t pick up this game because i specifically was seeking an escape from the trinity system but because it was new and had fresh ideas, good reviews and appealing graphics. I didn’t specifically have my radar set for an anti-trinity game.
I dont play it for the Living Story, soap opera feature. I’m not up on the story or into the characters beyond those we deal with in the Personal story and Dungeons. I picked the game up at release and have popped in and out of playing, missing large chunks of the Living Story. But i do like the fact that maps arent static and get events related to the LS introduced. And i enjoyed stuff like farming invasions. I was only a number of months into GW2 at the time and i found the drama of so many people charging around quite interesting. Plus the sub game of counting how many boxes you got each time. All this while knowing and caring little about who Scarlet was and the general lore about why this event was happening.
And the biggest thing is that it has no monthly fee. Combined with the fact you don’t have to pay real money to access aspects of the game, unlike some other f2p MMO’s I’ve known. The way the Gemstore works is a big plus. If everything else was the same, but there was a monthly fee, i wouldn’t be a GW2 player. That’s not a slur on the game, it’s just my approch to playing MMO’s.
And finally, this game generally has a nice relaxed vibe,
I would say GW2’s appeal is that it is a tier-1 MMO with no monthly fee attached. Anet have generally done a lot of things well with the game while many rival MMO’s have dropped the ball in different ways. At least that’s what i understand people say of them.
I don’t think GW2’s success is based upon it’s flagship fearures, i.e. the lack of Trinity or the Living Story. And i would suspect that if it did have Trinity, it would have a larger number of people playing it than it does now. And that the majority of the current playerbase would still be here.
People were saying this change should be made since forever. I’m glad it’s happened but i do wonder how it managed to take so long for them to come around and impliment it.
I want to discuss a specific thing, and in doing that understand what Anet’s thinking is with the PVE daily system.
What i want to know is why explorable Dungeon paths aren’t part of the PVE daily system. I’m talking CM, COE, SE etc. World bosses are. Fractals are. Gathering and harvesting is. And totally pointless unproductive things like viewing/revisiting a Vista. i can see nothing consistent across all these activities that reveals why regular Dungeons aren’t in there too.
Not only would it help direct newish players towards that content, it would allow some PVE players to achieve part of their dailies through natural play, in the way that PVP players currently enjoy doing with the PVP dailies. All it needs is ‘Complete 1 explorable path from so and so Dungeon,’ and rotate through the Dungeons for different days. The PVE daily system shoudln’t be limited to a series of oblique, out of the way tasks that the average lvl 80 would otherwise not be pursuing because they are of little to no merit. But that’s currently what it is.
It’s not like the PVE Dailies have been exclusively designed to be newbie low lvl player friendly because they contain specialized advanced content in Fractals. They contain a range of activities in the PVE game mode and so should include Dungeons as Dungeons are a significant part of the PVE game type.
Instead we are directed towards mind numbing and tedious tasks which are often an insult to the intelligence of anyone above 200 AP . Too many of the tasks serve as an exercise in obedience rather than posessing any fun, interest or challenge. They are a test of how willing you are to repeatedly perform mind numbing actrivities.
If the idea is to introduce players to aspects of the game, (then fix the NPE!!) then players need to be led towards dungeons more than they need to be induced to view a vista or gather some wood. If we can range from vista viewing to Fracatals, than regular dungeons absolutely belong in the PVE daily system too.
So, help me understand. Why are they not there?
600k Oh right. So what is the precise concern again. That they are all bad people so we don’t want them in GW2?
No can’t say i’m troubled if that’s the argument. Following that line of thinking, we’d also say no one who had a Wow account should be welcome in GW2 because of the culture Wow had. It’s just to broad a stroke to make.
If i read this correrctly, this Twitch guy has 16k followers. And GW2 has over 2 mill players.
So if a percentage of his followers pick up the game or not, it really doesnt amount ot much in the grand scheme of the numbers.
And if as OP says, his fanbase are toxic and troll kiddo’s, i expect GW2 will be of very little interest.
It is Indecision.
Why does it have to be one or the other?
They are letting the players play how they want. It doesn’t hurt anything. The only thing negative about it is that trolls come in and kick and steal the instance, but thats a problem that needs to be fixed anyway and not limited to dungeon selling.
a) I dont appreciate seeing path selling on the lfg and i bet many others would be happier if they could filter it out too. Plus it does hurt something because people get kicked at the end of dungeons.
b) Path sellers being kicked doesnt need to be addresssed because its not what the party system was designed to function for. Legit players being kicked by people intending to sell the path does need to be fixed because legit player arents meant to be kicked out for profit. It just so happens they are the same mechanic.
Still, i would like to see a filter because to me, path selling is separate to normal dungeon running. They shoudln’t occupy the same space.
Well, i dont highly rate their current hands-off approach. I would like to see them either support its existance with some sort of filter, or forbid it outright.
It’s pretty lax to leave things as they are, with path selling neither being supported nor outlawed. It’s not the best situation.
At the moment path selling is not fully supported by Anet and GW2 mechanics (read kick protection), nor is it an outlawed practice. But whether we like it or not, it exists.
I dont path sell, nor i have i ever bought one, so it’s existance doesnt affect me except from seeing those big lists of them on the LFG for certain dungeons. While the idea of path selling doesn’t bother me too much from a moral point of view , it might be a bad thing to see for newer players getting an impression of the game and what the dungeon community is about.
Proposal 1: If path selling is to stay, I would propose a separate section on the lfg for path selling, like there is for Fractals vs Dungeons. I think that would give the LFG tool a cleaner appearance. It would also help people locate groups more easily instead of having to run their eyes over a cluster of irreleveant path sell groups every time they want to join a regular run.
Proposal 2: Intoduce something that lets sellers flag their lfg as a path sell, and give all users an option to filter out path sell groups from lfg tool. People can then choose whether to filter in one, the other or both groups together.
Proposal 3: Give them a completely separate lfg tool
I don’t hate path sellers. But i don’t appreciate seeing it mixed in with standard lfg’s either.
Who the hell complained about the old PVE dailies. I used to be able to complete those without event thinking of them. That was fine.
Now i never complete PVE dailies through natural play. I don’t pursue them because they are mind numbing and tedious. Not difficult. Nor interesting. Doing tedious tasks is not the point of playing the game.
Who on eath in the community asked AP to be rewarded for completing a bunch of seemingly pointless, out of the way, tedious monototnous tasks such as Kyrta Lumberer?
And again, why arent a rotation of dungeon paths in there. Why jump from including tedious auto attack world bosses like Fire Ele to advanced content like Fractals, while skipping normal Dungeons completely in the PVE daily system?
(edited by Kedarrian.2905)
Huh, who is supposed to be experiencing fear? And what are they fearing?
They only fear i have at that of dungeons is that one of our party may have left their brain at the door or otherwise not know what they are doing and try to YOLO the mechanics.
But more often than not, everyone performs fine.
I always choose Queensdale wood.
For sure, an Expansion will absolutely appeal to a player of your type Callidus. That is, the highly accomplished player who has explored much of what the game has to offer.
But my thought was that there are many more players who are not like you, than are like you. And these players, Mr.Average silent majority type. Are they at all hyped about an Expansion? Do they want more PVE maps and another class etc?
Like Test says, I think an Expansion for GW2 only appeases the HC or veteran MMO players. I can see how there could exist a large swathe of players who see no need to buy it.
I’ve had this happen. Somethig going on at Anet’s server side kicked us all out at the same time. Pretty annoying when it happens.
What is the actual point of dailies.
Who benefits from being commanded to complete 4 events on Dredgehaunt cliffs? The level 80’s compelled to go there? The lowbies where aready leveling there before the big wave of 80’s arrived. All these events do is bore people out of their minds and inconvenience them. And why not include regular Dungeons in Dailies. That would be way better.
Just what is Anets overall idea with the PVE dailies?
GW2 is a game that has attracted people that weren’t previous veteran mmo players. But I get the impression that the player demand and hype around HOT is from those who are tapping into their previous experiences in MMO’s. But not everyoine is in that player group. And sure, for Anet its good publicity and gets them headlines on plenty of gaming websites.
There is going to be a new class in HOT. But personally, i dont desire a new class. I have no where near fully explored the current range of classes. I dont have each one at 80, or know all their different skills and builds. I have a couple classes i enjoy playing and the rest of them are there for whenever i fancy a change. But i’m happy as i am. It’s hard to really know, but i would guess there are more GW2 players like me than those who have a full set of 80’s or otherwise know every class inside out and are craving something new. And remember how the opinions and player profiles seen on online forums such as this are going to be more HC than the general playerbase.
I like running dungeon regularly. I’ve still got a number left to fully learn. And after that there are Fractals which i’ve only dabbled in slightly. This game still has a lot to offer the player and only a small percentage have risen to be veteran dungeon runners or engage in Fractals. And for the rest, they tune in for sPVP or WVW. I don’t see why we need more PVE maps. It’s not like people are in love with any of the current ones. Any new maps will likewise become old and uninteresting soon enough.
Instead, below is a list of Quality of Life player requests from this forum. I would swap an expansion for less than half of the things listed below. Stuff like being able to save builds and traits for easy switching, and simple inventory related stuff. Yes please!
I too would settle for a third of those changes in the Major category over an Expansion any day!
As a non veteran of MMO’s, the Expansion is an event i find myself totally unexcited about.
