I love running into other D/Ds in WvW, 95% of them suck and go down fast regardless of bunker builds.
The other 5% I assume are old school because it’s either a standstill or I die / run.
When they were trialing the fix I literally died and stayed dead for over 45 seconds at a supply camp while both zergs were around me and me never seeing a single person.
I was told this was a bug with the “fix” which caused almost all characters to not spawn after like 30 minutes and only a re-zone could fix. >_> Needless to say I wasn’t the only person to experience this.
Gee… just last week SoS and SBI were dual trebbing our keep in EB. I guess we forgot to start a thread on that like you guys.
All things considered I’m quite sure SoS could also whine about 2v1s as well since we’ve obviously done it to them as well.
Suck it up.
Nice vids =) Awesome runs.
1x Guardian
1x Focus Ele
2x Staff Ele
1x Thief
Would there be any changes you would do to improve on those runs? Change in jobs etc. Intrigued since you had 3 eles.
Free market. While I don’t do this myself I see no problem with others doing so unless they were kicking pugs out of dungeon and selling their spot.
I’ve gotten 10 or so exotics this last week from FotM. More rares than I can remember and a wad of lodestones, cores, and T6 mats.
In my entire playtime of WvW, I’ve gotten 2 exotics and maybe 5 rares. I solo 99.99% of the time although in zerg so my badge count is also laughably low at 360 or so right now out of the 500 needed for the gift.
Stability works, just go to WvW, armor up and Churning earth a group. Easy enough to get people to try to knock you when you do that.
It would be very annoying if any nub can just pop onto PvP, grab gear then go to WvW and be fully armed but yes, I do think that a career PvP’er should be able to pop into WvW and be geared just like a career PvE’er.
But why? This game isn’t supposed to have gear progression is it? At least, that’s why 90% of you cry about ascended gear.
I should be able to roll a level 1 whatever and hop right into WvW(and doing more than 200 damage per hit with my auto attack).
I’m not saying give me exotic or legendary gear. But give me an entry level set of gear so I can customize for my specific build
I do fotm, so QQ’ing to me about Ascended gear doesn’t do much since I actually don’t mind progression. I feel that just as PvE people can’t do as well at level 1 or 10 or 20 in WvW, neither should PvP players.
As long as there’s some “entry fee” or sorts to get the gear into WvW I have no issues with it. Please note that by entry fee I don’t mean gold or gems or whatever, but like Xaros said something like PvP rank or something. It would be very annoying if any nub can just pop onto PvP, grab gear then go to WvW and be fully armed but yes, I do think that a career PvP’er should be able to pop into WvW and be geared just like a career PvE’er.
If eles don’t block treb shots in WvW, you must be in a low tier server. Dungeon wise, I have every weapon, but I rarely, rarely ever change to niche weapons.
Easy… level 10 is what everyone including those HIGHER level do for dailies. Level 11 is only for people who need to level up and to help others so you’re left with a larger pool for noobs, newbs, or 13khp 1900 armor glass cannons.
Some people on this forum said that higher levels give better loot… might be better to hear it from those people instead, but that’s around it.
I actually wrote like a 2 page essay on various staff strats for 20-29 FotMs but gave up since I was wondering why I bothered.
Can we simply sum this up as
- Some Elementalists suck
- Said Elementalists causing bad rep for rest of us in FotM
- To other classes, please understand that not all of us are crap
Perhaps if there’s anything else, can we take this to the elementalist forums instead…? I think the non-eles stopped paying attention to this thread ages ago.
If we’re talking for straight DPS I would still do
Air 5 —> 10+ vuln. stacks ( with a good party )
Earth 2, 5 —> Bleed stacks
Only reason I would stay in fire is if… umm… … … if all of my fire skills were at 100% perma. uptime?
I typically run away…
well, not exactly. I’m usually in air as well, though my aura is on auto cast so I generally can’t expect it to be to be ready, plus I rarely ever see it, <_< seems I never pay attention. Generally when I get hit I instantly rtl away, switch to water and use 5 + 6 to heal up, backtrack and get a lock on where he is. I then swap to fire and do the typical combo. If rtl is on cd I switch to water right after the initial hit and hit 3, dodge heal with evasive arcana and 5 + 6.
Against the ones that stealth up after the confrontation I tend to just run away since I really don’t want to deal with the prolonged fight. Plus I found that if I wanted to get away, the thf isn’t going to catch me regardless.
Still i die before party can get to their point….
You use a VIT/tough build i use a mostly tough/prec with some vit gear…. i have your same toughness but16,5K HP.
I can assure you that to survive enough you need luck, you can get stun also preventing you torecover.
I assume you’re talking about 3rd and 4th switches and yes, survival is hit and miss, I can survive for the duration of the control panel as long as it’s not interrupted too much. They’re still dredge so earth 3 tends to help quite a bit even if it’s only for a few seconds.
1) staff lacks damage on my build…..i can crowd control or save myself but then i m not doing my part….
2) it wasn t his first attack…in fact i wrote “i wait someone other to get aggro”, also they get up after a stun and attack….i’d really love to see you melee warriors in ascalon stage and evade their attack in the midst of the confusion that stage is.
While being targeted by siege machines, rangers and ele i m sure you ll evade everything….
3) hint: if you think that isnulting random people, youìll seem a pro ona forum you are wrong…..you just seem a rude guy not a pro.
1) Your build, respect that, saying that all staves are bad, not so much. That being said I’m a D/D for non-FOTM.
2) I have done it, so I’m honestly fine with it. My usual strat if I pull is to use air 5 which stuns them all during that leap, also I switch to fire do 4 to dodge back. In fact I have more trouble with mages than warriors. And there is no confusion, and there shouldn’t be any confusion, they’re in regular packs that you can target and see together with AoE CCs. The only time they’re confusing is if a pug runs into the final courtyard into siege. Even then that doesn’t mean that the ele has to run in with them. That’s the entire point of using staff, long range and able to be outside the melee.
3) I apologize, my hint wasn’t an attack on you. Nor do I think that I’m pro, I’m average and thus I hate it when others degrade the class because they think that the average elementalist is useless and deserves to get kicked. I was simply stating, if someone is not a moron, it’s not hard to deal those situations.
I’m an Ele on fotm 23. I have never had anyone kick me because of my class. I also pride myself on surviving longer than most people in FOTM. I run a Knight / Soldier blend with 1-2 Berserker accessories. That brings me to around 18k HP with 1500~toughness I think? Could be wrong, not in-game to check.
I can understand why people hate eles in pugs I guess, I only pug, but I’ve seen idiot elementalists who sport full glasscannon and die to non-vetern adds. Problem is, I also see glasscannon thieves, warriors, guardians ( strangely enough not rangers or engineers lol ).
Also, >.> Dredge first stage for Elementalist isn’t too bad. If you’re on the first or second switch, just use staff or focus for projectile null. Run in with an earth elemental up and proceed to not care for 10-20 seconds while people go in. If you’re on the 3rd or 4th switches same thing except you last longer and have some people to help you. If you’re not on switches you go around AoE’ing anything that may aggro the panel guy. If you’re on panel, earth elemental helps take aggro off you.
Oh, and I take offense to the guy who says taking staff to 20+ is bad. It’s still the same stupidly easy thing as anything else. Only thing that I remember that can 1 hit me is Ascalon warrior rushes and it’s simple to avoid that ( hint: don’t be a moron ).
I use staff most of the time since it tends to benefit groups more than the spike in dps.
Places where I do change to D/D is Mossman boss since he’s stupidly easy and no one really dies there.
I actually don’t suggest using it for Giant because the chance of death from falling off tends to counter any DPS gain… plus it’s kind of useless during the chest seal. I’ve tried it at boss and it does work decently though so that’s a pro.
Same with Asura one, D/D isn’t all too useful during the jumping parts. Useful for everything else, I wouldn’t place it any higher or lower than Staff for boss. Perhaps lower if you’re asked to man a fan for Tom.
Never tried for Grawl but I doubt it’d be all too useful for either the run or the boss.
For Ascalon I would say that Staff wins hands down. No one cares about the pre-boss part since NPCs can solo it all, but for the boss you can solo it quite easily using staff due to the 1200 range. In fact, I did solo it the other day since other 4 died halfway in.
Maw I wouldn’t suggest it since there’s no real pro to using D/D other than more skills that don’t get reflected. You lose the safety from tentacles which is more important in my opinion.
Can’t remember if there were other fractals but that’s all I remember.
I would be intrigued to know how you manage to deal with the situational 1v1 situations. D/D has the mobility and dueling capabilities and Staff does have enough CC to escape. I actually switched to D/D from S/D because of that ( though I admit I switched during first month so I was probably pretty bad ).
It’s truly only the AoE cap which messes things up. Mesmer portals are supposed to be high risk high return tactics.
It should be 100% ( not sarcastic in any way ) possible for 2-3 people to obliterate 40 people in a massive AoE spam on a badly placed portal. Think about it, if you place a portal into lava, everyone dies, you don’t suddenly not take damage because 5 people already got hit, that makes no sense.
Yes, in WvW now, if I see a portal, I run the hell away from it. I could AoE it down, I mean I am an ele, but what’s the point?! All I would do is hit the first 5, then the rest will kill me without taking a single point of damage.
Oh god…. even at the first minute already see morons that STAY inside the freaking large NOTICEABLE churning earth.
That’s not a video of a good Ele ( it is btw ) it’s a video of stupid enemies.
You know that red have the Tree Spirit Champion by Speldan, that also give a chest just like Grub,
And that supposedly have one around their area as well?Just saying, there are 3 Champs on that map that all gives a chest with badges
Let’s be honest, no one even bothers going out of their way to Speldan, which people have already stated is the most out of the way supply depot on the map. And you yourself already confirmed what is true for a lot of people… what / who / where is that Champ for 1st place?! It’s out of the way enough that hardly anyone knows what it is, let alone where it is and actually kill it.
Grub on the other hand is stupidly close to keep, is seen and passed whenever people travel to Durios and Umber for defense and has the nagging map notification when you’re at keep.
If you have an ele get them to swap to focus and use air 4 to create the projectile nullifying dome.
The CD is fairly long so you can only use it around once ever 2 spins but it’s fairly useful. Plus Ele’s elemental acts as another body to block hits.
Yesterday someone did that to JQ and I believe SBI as well. Even more funny since some people are calling it a valid tactic.
Blue has the grub advantage, distracting enemy zergs.
Sarcasm at its finest ( I hope ) but seriously, I’ve seen SMs, Towers, hell, keeps, lost because of damn PvE grub parties. Ever seen 5+ golems stolen from keep ( meant for SM ) because of grub?!
Wait? It’s a valid tactic to free transfer to your opponent’s server to siege cap them?!
yep, no longer able to build counter trebs, ballistas, losing towers since we can’t properly defend.
Fire 2, 3, 4, 5 ( single burst )
Water 2, 3, 4, 5 ( standard fare )
Air 4, 5
Earth 4, 5
Plus your 3 minute move.
Finished that mission only using Fire so it’s not really hard. Otherwise just stay in water, use 5, to drill through the enemy, use 3 to get back out, 2 to deal more damage and swap out to Air to use 5 and 4 to stall or Fire 2, 3, 4, 5 if it’s solidly on your NPC buddy. Water 5 is the strongest move we have, use it correctly and it will destroy whole groups. Especially useful in under water fractals and dungeons but it works fine here as well.
Honestly, Krait and Undead both sucks, especially under water but still possible.
Although I do believe that the OP is paranoid, it doesn’t change the fact that the general non-IT savvy population does indeed think that any 3rd party website would in fact “hack” their in-game accounts.
Pretty much all that means is that ANet needs to hurry up and implement their in-game LFG system so we can stop having these threads pop up every other day.
The GW2LFG site listed above is a handy tool, but we are working on something internally to improve and upgrade our group tool.
I’m just really surprised that Anet supports a 3rd party site like this. I mean, what happens if suddenly everyone involved with the site has their accounts compromised? You told people it’s a handy tool. I’m not attacking you as much as saying I’m concerned. It seems like a risky thing to do – sending your players to an unverified site.
The site in general doesn’t ask for anything personal. No accounts are required to use it. No strange plugins, web socket connections, or anything obvious that can be used to compromise an account.
The most dangerous thing that the site could get is your character name and your dungeon’ing preferences.
I actually typed some stuff then thought i was being an kitten so deleted.. really thou.. what made you think i -dont- know how GW2 works?
Probably part of the group that says that not killing even one mob is considered exploiting the game and should be banned.
I’m actually confused why a hotfix can’t fix this issue… I mean, it’s not like they haven’t done it before. The first week of launch they had freaking fixes every 3 hours.
I’m still using near full MF gear at 13. I typically get ( same as those above ) 3-5 rares per full fractal run. I run as staff ele in dungeons so I rarely have problems and don’t tie down my group.
The only time I don’t use MF gear currently is for Dredge boss, haven’t figured out a good way to double dodge the ground stomp so agony tends to get me too close to death for comfort.
The term exploit is getting thrown around a bit too much… I see no reason why skipping a camp fire is in any way an exploit. Only thing I even see the point of those were on day one so people knew that being near fire would remove frostbite.
And yeah, no idea how anyone would think not aggro’ing mobs would count as an exploit.
I actually don’t care about the exploits as of yet. I will do it if asked and not do it if no one says anything.
I have got to say though, most of these exploits I have only seen people start doing after this thread started. Some of these I have never heard of yet for the past few days every single group has been talking about them.
Got to admit though, I have no intention of blaming them, >_> especially after my disconnect on FotM 10 on the 3rd Fractal boss…
Kohler is so freaking easy that my real life friends actually do a drinking game for every time one of us gets dragged in. Rarely do we ever need to drink.
Eh, this Dredge is pretty much the AC Exp. of FotM… Remember how hard that used to be.
Anyways, yeah, seriously easy but not sure why some people can’t seem to take a hint. Ran 2 fotm2 to help some friends level up and the PUGs that came with had no concept of dodging.
All in all, leave as is, L2P. In 2-3 months everyone will laugh at how easy this boss is.
Just wondering if this was something specific causing the crash.
Did this particular fractal twice. First time, we got to the final area from the left and the battle went fine.
Second time however, we got to the final area from the right and all the way to the top of the area ( like a reversed c shape ) and the second one of us crossed the gate to the final area all of us crashed.
Great… this just happened today to me. It was doubly bad. First time, second fractal in, everyone crashed and we lost all progress. Second time, 3rd fractal in, DC’ed and lost all progress.
Sigh… really hoping for a quick fix.
Since it has to do with Evasive Arcana, can a Mod confirm whether or not Evasive Arcana’s earth ability is actually Churning Earth or another spell?
If it is CE, then it’s still a bug that the spell isn’t working as intended.
