I’m not sure what they could add to this vendor. Everything suggested so far could just easily be in a reward track. Isn’t that what the reward tracks are for?
Since tickets are a bit less of just a grind and more of how well you rank each season, add more high end stuff, not just materials. Materials and the like should be in a reward track.
Maybe each season, choose a new weapon that has sort of a bronze/silver/gold variant of the weapon that players can earn.
Or just make a whole new weapon set and make a couple available to earn each season
Or black lion ticket scraps. Everyone loves ticket scraps…
“TAKE HEED! I HAVEN’T TAKEN LEAVE OF MY SENSES. I’VE SEEN CREATURES OF METAL AND STEAM!”
I always go to Hoelbrak instead of Lions Arch…
About peeking, just keep the gates locked down so you can’t leave the base.
If Anet adds anti-class stacking to matchmaking, it adds to the already poor queue times. I’m very against that.
Also, Gw2 isn’t a game that should make the system decide which professions should get paired with which, since theoretically each class can have builds that do very different things. I know this isn’t exactly the case since majority of people gravitate to the same build for each profession, but that doesn’t mean we should lock matchmaking down like that. This topic really involves balance though, not just simple matchmaking mechanics.
So to keep it in the realm of simple “fixes”, I like the idea of just not seeing the enemy team in pre-game. That would help with some problems the current state of the game has been showing.
I thought the timer was 2 minutes. But yeah, either way you were gone for a good chunk of the match. I’m sure we’ll all get over this somehow
One major reason to not lock professions switching is this: I play thief, which means quite frequently I get matched with 1 or 2 other thieves on my team. Typically, that is too many thieves on a team and you will most likely lose. In those situations, either I or another player switches to a different profession to round our team out a bit better.
I personally think the way it is now is fine. But to appease more people, I have a simple suggestion too. Don’t completely lock out profession swapping. Instead, make it so there is no way to see the enemy team during the pre-game. This would eliminate “counter-swapping” (biggest complaint), and keep all of the benefits of swapping.
No. You can kill bunker now in 2vs1 scenario.
Yes and I love it!
I’ve been playing thief this season, and it is nice that I can actually come to a fight to make it 2v1 and actually burst an ele, necro, or engi down relatively quickly (if I don’t miss my skills anyway).
Heh, this has already been in game, and the queue times were horrible. When the current system got put in the game, it was so much better. Are there flaws? Yes. But this is much more enjoyable than before. Heck, didn’t League of Legends even switch to a more dynamic queue as well?
But I guess I’m extremely lucky because since the start of the new season I’ve done about 30 games and got only one 5-man premade team, while others claim they go up against nothing but 5-man premades :P
It may help them to post which mac machine you are on? Also it may be better to post in one of the support forums rather than the pvp one.
I got a maxed out (but no dedicated graphics card) 2015 15" macbook pro from work last week and I’ve been playing pvp on it when I’m out and about with no issues.
If you want to compare this to League of Legends, fine, but you can really only compare it to blind pick.
The key thing league of legends does is that it throws your team together to plan out who is playing what. All while you can’t see the enemy team.
So if anything, we shouldn’t disable class switching. We should lock teams into their bases and hide profession icons on the scoreboard until the match starts. This allows your team to not have 5 thieves on your team, and also limits the other team from easily hard countering your team.
stealth was never special to thief, it’s initiative..
What? Stealth is VERY special to thieves. They are the ONLY class that, when in stealth, augments the thief’s #1 weapon skill.
It could be that people who got to Ruby played Mesmer or Ele just to climb the ranks and may not actually be Ruby level. Then maybe they’ve started playing their normal classes, but are struggling against people who are legit Ruby or other easy Mesmer and Ele builds.
Yeah, its a bummer that dungeons are on the wayside now.
But if you need tokens, do what Vinceman said and do PvP reward tracks. Right now, PvP will be your best bet. (Be sure to grab your guilds pvp reward track bonus if it has one!)
Or try to find a guild. I know my guild will almost always help someone with dungeons if they just ask. To run 3 paths of a certain dungeons takes almost no time, and most of us are happy to help
Maybe revet Corrupt Boon back, as well as revert Larcenous Strike to steal 2 boons again for Thief.
But I’d rather see less boon spam (and condi spam)instead. Right now logic is like this, “I want to spam protection on me and others at all times.” Instead it should be, “Huge damage spike about to happen, better activate and not waste my limited skill that grants protection!” The constant mindless spam of boons and condies (and now invulns) is what kills this game for me.
Yep, so silly how this is currently a thing…
I was playing a curruption signet necro, hit both signets and my DS #2 skill over the course of about 10 seconds. The ele still had 5 boons with 25 stacks of might… wtf
I thought that I would maybe mix it up a bit since many of the op builds just spam boon and dazes on point. So I went back to the berserker longbow Ranger to pew pew some people…
NOPE, found out that eles can grant AOE reflect auras. AND they have 4 skills to grant it. Many duos run double eles because it is soo effective. Doulbe eles can have VERY HIGH up-time on the reflect auras… very fun balance..
I just switch classes when I see even one ele on the other team. Can’t have fun I suppose, gotta run the spamfest builds.
If you have the ‘can change targets of channeled skills’ option selected, then swapping targets during the stomp will brick the stomp. Disable that option or don’t swap targets.
If this is correct, it makes so much sense for what happened to me last night…
I started a stomp on an enemy while I was in Death Shroud. His ally starts coming toward us. I select his ally and fear him so that I can complete my stomp with no interference. I completed the stomp, but the downed guy didn’t die… He ends up getting rezzed, and I die 1v2 on mid point.
Such a stupid bug. It had better get fixed.
Do you think Larcenous Strike should steal (at least) 2 boons again?
With so many stuns, dazes, blocks, and distortion, it is hard to hit larcenous strike anyway. And when you FINALLY land it and steal that one boon, they get 5 more boons…
Has anyone tried Gw2 with the Steam controller and the new action camera? I’ve been thinking about picking one up mainly for Gw2 from the couch, and maybe some other games.
Months ago I used the mod that was basically the action camera with an xbox 360 controller, and the joystick just didn’t feel right. So I’m thinking maybe the steam controller’s touchpad thing would maybe feel better?
Then in general, how are peoples thoughts on the controller? I’ve been seeing many mixed reviews on youtube.
I’m currently playing with Daredevil now. I’m not using the staff, and I’m only using the elite skill. I’m mainly using it for the awesome dodges it has. build it working pretty great so far! Went 3-1 this morning.
This confused me as well. I was looking today how to unlock them. On every reward track, if you hover over the locked icon, it shows a message telling you to “complete this other track.” Then the base tracks have no message to display telling you how to unlock them, so I figured Anet just hasn’t unlocked them yet.
Thanks for pointing that out khani.
Who knew the Jungle was filled with so much Salt water?!
Who knew a game with no mounts had so many high horses.
Surprising how Tyria has horses, yet no one has seen one yet! What a weird anomoly
Mounts would actually fix some of the complaints about the game being unsoloable. WP are far fewer and people could get from point a to point b without fighting a horde of enemies every trip without the fear of death and WP miles away to make the trip all over again.
Also I’ve been to every map aside two of them and I haven’t seen anything greater than a small pond with like 3 skelk so I have no idea where this salt water is coming from? I do know underwater weapons have become even more worthless though..
I absolutely LOVE how the maps aren’t littered with waypoints now. There is actually a slight fear of death now! There are certain areas where if you ignore the mobs and run past, it is a pretty good chance you will die. Coming from playing RuneScape when I was a wee lad (The TRUE old school, none of that 3D crap), I missed that fear of death.
My friend complained that he was having trouble getting to a certain part of the map, and I asked what stat combo he was running. He said Berserker, and it made me chuckle. Zealot Necro FTW.
When you say that they are remaining the same for PvP, does that mean WvW too? Please say yes.
This is only for creature attacks against player minions. Player attacks against minions keeps the same functionality as it has right now. This is for everywhere.
What about minions vs minions in PvP? If I blow up my bone minion with enemy illusions around it, will it do normal or reduced damage?
Nope. I don’t want hour long queues again… I just want to play the game. Current implementation is fine, I seem to win about half of my games and mostly have fun match ups.
Increase the Gw2 pvp populatation by about 10 fold, and then sure, add SoloQ back.
Most peoples arguments about adding SoloQ back are just idiotic. The #1 reason the queue is the way it currently is, is because of queue times. But majority of you guys on these forums seem to just want to ignore this…
Here’s something you can start of with.
D/P is viable in PvP
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Thief_-_Dagger/Pistol
Enjoy!
I’m just now getting back into pvp after about 6-7 months, and threw a d/p thief build together. My deadly arts and trickery are the same. I didn’t notice the tankyness that shadow arts apply! I’ll have to try that trait line out tonight.
Also, using a steal ability twice with improvise trait, while on paper didn’t seem too appealing, is AMAZING in fights. (random resets are a nice bonus too)
Reading the books really only let you enjoy the cool little bits they throw in the game.
Like the skill point where Killeen died in Fields of Ruin :’(
I think I went up a couple fps. Only odd thing I’ve noticed is a weird scratch noise that happens when I launch the game.
I get that scratch noise too, but with a few other games as well, not just Gw2
Yeah, I hope games pre-windows10 take advantage of it.
Nvidia has that ShadowPlay thing, and doesn’t AMD have some sort of thing like that as well? Why not just use those options instead? Press a button and the last x amount of seconds gets saved to disk (plus whatever follows until you stop recording). For that matter, do the Xbox application even function like that? I thought that was more of a “Press the Windows key + G and hit the Record option to start recording” kind of thing.
Windows recording is pretty similar to Nvidia recording. You can record the previous moments of gaming with Win+Alt+G. or you can just hit the record button when you open the game bar with Win+G. As for quality comparison, I’m not too sure.
The difference, however, is the social aspect built in with Windows 10 and Xbox. Games that are “verified” with Microsoft/Xbox can have the clips that were recorded from that game posted onto your activity feed on the Xbox app for all of your friends to see. Right now, if the game isn’t set up, when you try to share the recorded clip to your feed, you get an error saying that the game is not recognized. I’m pretty sure Anet has to do something in order for the game to become recognized by the Xbox app.
Most clips I record are kinda cool to show to friends, but never make the light of day on YouTube because the clip really isn’t THAT special. Game clip sharing with the Xbox app is just a pretty cool and simple way to show those kind of clips to your friends.
I would say no, just because the last thing I want is the flood of XBL players turning an already borderline dysfunctional family that is this forums, into a fully dysfunctional family that is XBL.
But thats just me and tin foil hat.
Uhh, adding this support wouldn’t magically port Gw2 to xbox. All this would allow is to post your game clips to the now built in Windows 10 Xbox app.
Windows 10 users will have an “Xbox” account, and so everyone can use the xbox app to add and talk to each other. Similar to Steam, Curse, Skype, and many others. The Xbox app however is built in (I like that), and has a cool social aspect to it in the way that you can easily share cool gaming moments that maybe isn’t worthy enough of going through the hassle of putting it up on youtube and linking it to your friends.
Clearly don’t know where I come from, do you? But at any rate, I have a skeptical level of value for anything that uploads video, but doesn’t encourage the development of proper editing habits, or directly encourages the “I like to hear myself talk” syndrome. I give some leeway with “I’m talking because I think silence is awkward”, because thats mostly a learning experience.
Sorry, but nope, I don’t know you
. But you really think that a 10-15 second clip of a clutch pvp moment, or your party being hilariously wiped in a fractal requires an intro/outro and narration? Remember, these type of small clips are aimed to show your friends mostly, not make revenue off of thousands of views :P
Your opinion I guess. I think when more people figure out these “xbox” features with windows 10, and more games do it, people on pc will enjoy it too.

I think that is an Microsoft problem at the moment.
The function works with apps so far.Hopefully they expand that feature. Though I got a promt to use Windows button + G to launch that feature as I started GW2 after updating
I should be more clear. Actually recording videos works great on the games I’ve tested it on.
The problem is when you try to share the game clip to your xbox feed for others to see. You get the error shown in the picture. I think Anet just has to do a few small things to get their game to work with the xbox app.
Hopefully they will at least look into it
If you guys don’t want to wait to be selected by the Microgods to get the Windows 10 upgrade, you can manually download and install the ISO.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO
*Note: If you want to do a clean install, you must first upgrade your existing windows to windows 10 to tie windows 10 to your account. Then you can perform a clean install.
One of the few cool things Xbox One has done is there game clip recording & sharing. Now that Windows 10 is here, Microsoft has brought this to the PC. It would be great to quickly and easily share goofy little videos, or awesome PvP moments easily with Windows 10, so I’m excited that it is finally here!
You can record any game just fine. The problem now is that games have to have some xbox support features implemented in order to actually share the game clip to the xbox app. Games have to be verified with Microsoft as a legit game so that people can’t just upload random porn or something to the xbox app.
If I remember from a windows 10 game dev video, it isn’t all too hard to get your game working with the app.
I hope Anet considers doing this in the future! Easy game clip sharing is something the Xbox app does well!

Anet screwed up from the get go. In the book that came with collectors edition, they mention that it would be a huge task to design different armor for each profession, so they took the easy way and split it into small, medium, and heavy armor… Fine, I can live with that shortcut
THEN, they threw that out the window! Now it is just one armor fits all. Its a very lazy way to spit out more armor for people to buy. Yeah, there are a couple armor sets that are still restricted, but the damage is done. There is no way by just looking at someone, that you can tell what profession they are playing.
Yeah, some people like how they can look like anything, cool. I don’t, and that is one of my bigger sorrows about this game
When did they scrap light, heavy and medium armor? I must have missed that one. I was looking at different armor sets for one of my characters today and the heavy and medium armor still said it couldn’t be used because of her profession.
Oh wait, you mean the 24 outfits don’t you? Aka town clothes? Since it appears all 171 armor sets are still split into light, medium and heavy.
Yes, outfits… and I’m talking about new head pieces, gauntles, and other armor pieces that are available to all armor types… if you REALLY want me to give you an example of one of many:

heh, you think that phrase is bad?
“TAKE HEED! I HAVEN’T TAKEN LEAVE OF MY SENSES! I’VE SEEN CREATURES OF METAL AND STEAM!”
After a while, they just become a part of who you are. Let it consume you…
Since the new queue (unranked and ranked) were brought in, queue times have improved slighty since teams and solo’ers are now in one playlist.
This game doesn’t have many people playing pvp, so the devs have to balance matchmaking between more accurate match ups versus longer queue times. They have mentioned this way too many times to players, yet people still complain.
I’ll take 2-4 minute queues over 10-15 minute queues like before if I have to go against the occasional premade. You want more accurate matchmaking? Fine, but don’t complain about long queue times then when they change it
.
Meh, this item request is just another “I’m super lazy” item. So many things in this game are already account bound, so creating a new character is hardly “starting fresh”.
I don’t know about you guys, but i’ve probably used almost 100 tomes of knowledge already and still have about 140. Leveling in this game is SUPER QUICK AND EASY.
Heck, ascended armor, weapons, and trinkets are even account bound now (lol).
The only thing you are really losing is waypoint unlocks, but that is quick and easy to get back too.
1) Make a new toon
2) Make it look exactly like your current toon
3) Insta level it to 80
4) Use a couple of your thousands of skill point scrolls to unlock remaining skills
5) Use old armor (if possible) and trinkets. (since you want to switch to revenant, you will be unable to use your armor either way if you aren’t heavy).
Tada! You just changed your class!
Try playing on the mac “client”.
It’s a joy when it doesn’t crash haha
Haha, is it really that bad? I have a desktop I built when gw2 released that was kinda beast at the time. I wanted a dedicated laptop ONLY FOR WORK, so I just bought one of the new Macbook Pro’s…
First thing I did was install Guild Wars 2
. Haven’t really played it much on mac yet though.
Edit: To stay on topic. I play on Ultra with vsync on and reflections to “sky and terrain only” (full reflections kill my fps for some reason), so it sits at 60fps during open world with not too many people, dungeons, and sPvp. During events with many people or large WvW fights, it sits around 20-25fps.
(edited by Klinch.2964)
The only impairing thing is the horrible filter. You can turn that off by turning post processing completely off at least.
Cool! Something I find fun on a ranger is that you can solo a lot of group event champion bosses. If you manage your pet aggro correctly, you can just pew pew with your longbow and kill them. Be sure to grab tanky pets.
Funny when Stronghold is actually Fort Aspenwood/Jade Quarry 2.0, one of the most successful PvP modes in Guild Wars: Factions.
That’s what I thought! I loved that mode, which is why I’m excited to see how Stronghold turns out.
Most conditions aren’t really thoughtfully applied anymore (let me cripple this guy so I can kite some…I need to poison him so he is pressured to not heal…etc.) Instead, low-cd procs like IP, Doom sigils, geomancy sigils, rune procs, and other traits just make the conditions happen while you press buttons.
This is my biggest complaint with condies, and in some aspect boons. It is just a big spamfest with them.
Unless it got ninja fixed in the last week, its broken. My friend would sit between me and an enemy while he was at half health. Zero heals were going on him.
It also goes without saying, who cares about skill balance on an aspect of the game where you stack?
your opposed to making gear on your account useable on other toons on your account? And your reason is because you think this game is to casual? Did you give more then half a second of thought before posting what you did?
Thanks for going for the belittling comment. Mature of you…
Yeah I did. And I’m not really understanding that comment of yours.
A lot of these ideas lead to people wanting the ability to do some work on one character, and transfer that work to all other characters on the account. It really blurs the line of why even have multiple characters other than class and pretty dress up.
A good chunk of an mmo is to show off how much work you put into the game. I personally don’t want to play a game that shows no difference between a 200 hour played account vs a 1000 hour played account.
Stuff like this dumbs the game down, no denying that. Gw2 is already reaching that danger zone of too much convenience for me. Add more “features” like this will make me put this game down for good.
Of course this is an opinion. It also depends on how much time you have to play. If you have 5 hours a week to play this, I could see why you want this change. But see? Someone playing this 5 hours a week is a very casual player.
Reply if you actually want to talk about the topic, rather than spewing a trash comment contributing nothing to your own topic.
Currently life blast is broken 90% of the time (or at least I can never get it to heal)
Assuming it is bug free, it is still hard to use this effectively in a pug group since everyone is running circles around enemies constantly. With a group with comms, it can still be too hard to be effective.
Why not just make life blast function like the Ice bow #1 skill? It would be bug free. It would also make it much easier to land the heal without yelling at the person to stand still.
Heck, maybe combine the function of icebow with current (attempted) functionality? That may be a bit on OP side though.
Basically either fix life blast, or change its functionality to be similar to icebow #1. Its been many months and it is still horribly broken, and running my zealot build would be cool to have the 1k life blast heals!
Just put me straight to level 80, I’ve already hit it once!
Give me 500 crafting on all characters because I got it on one already!
Heck, why make a whole new character to play a different class?! Let me switch classes on the fly!
I only auto attack this boss to kill him, it is a waste of my time to sit here for 5 minutes doing it, just let me click him once to kill him and get the loot!
/s
Seriously, this game is really casual friendly as it is. On its own, this idea may not sound horrible (I think it is a horrible idea), but combine it with all of the other convenience ideas, and it really dumbs the game down.
I say heck no to this.
I love weighted roll. I also play Halo quite a bit, and it is always the same few maps. Sometimes I like a little variety, and weighted roll allows for that.
Keep it as it is!
Yeah, I didn’t like that pre-buffing phase. I’m glad they took it out. It was a silly design choice to allow it in the first place
