Sprawl, many threads created lately have already been talked about many other times. It sucks that when ANET don’t reply to these repeated threads, everyone complains that ANET doesn’t communicate with the community.
They’ve done a pretty darn good job letting us know what they are planning on doing.
They already mentioned that they are going to work on a different system. They are going to redo how the pvp locker works.
Source? They mentioned it in some blog post or video talk, I don’t remember.
I have a simple Staff and Scepter/war horn epidemic Necro build that I like to run. Thief condi builds are the EASIEST to go against 1v1 with this build! Let them throw many stacks of bleed on you, then throw putrid mark on them. Do they some how get “Hide in Shadows” off? Let the thief once again throw all of their bleeds on you, then throw it back in their face with Plague Signet. All of this on top of your normal mark spams and scepter attacks. Necros have plenty of health to absorb the bleeds for a short amount of time, enough to send it back to the thief.
So… what is the problem?
If you are looking for something more like part-time I’d be interested. I try to get on as much as possible, but I’m in college so bare that in mind. I’m only level 28 (hardly any glory boosts used :P) since I do a bit of PVE as well, but if I had a group of people to consistently play with, I’d do PVP much much more.
I mainly play Thief and Necro, but lately I’ve dabbed my fingers into the Ranger. Even if I don’t fit into one of your teams, it would be great to have a PVP friend list
Why are threads about dueling still popping up? ArenaNet has told us what they are doing about dueling already…
People need to read before smashing their faces on forums…
Nah, I got really lucky and got them for pretty cheap. I love this way!
ah, thank you. I still need two more mini pets
What is the recipe to make the mini christmas quaggan? I just got the wads of enchanted stuffing. What mini pets do I need?
I searched for a topic about this but I could not find one (even though I figured one would have been made about this).
What is the point of this trait? It seems to be completely random making it a very unreliable trait. If I understand it correctly, the trait will try to apply its effects on a skill type that isn’t even on your build! kitten?
In a perfect world, I’d like to be able to choose which skill type this trait effects. You would think that if you at least have all of one skill type, lets say venoms, that when you steal, all venoms would refresh every time since that is the only type of skill on your skillbar. (yeah, this exact situation could have balance issues, but this isn’t the point). The point is, why have this trait that acts the way it does? When I play sPvp, I don’t want a build that is based completely on luck. (Even in PVE it is all luck).
Is this a troll post? If not, did you even read what you posted? Nerf both extremes of builds?
Then every build will end up being the same exact role, no thanks
It worked! Thank you! It makes it account bound.
I wasn’t sure where to put this, but crafting seamed the best.
So I have The Crossing Staff on a low level character. Is there a way to transmute the staff so it isn’t soulbound to him? I want to make a char instead, I think the staff would look better on him.
He is saying that there was a thread made for this specific video already, right here. So no need for this thread.
It was only a few posts down from the top, so please try to look before you post

Well, it isn’t the case on healing skills. Those are definitely around 4-5 seconds. Reguardless, why don’t the skills just go on full cool down when they get interrupted? When I dodge a skill, that skill goes on full cooldown, why not interrupts?
When you interrupt a skill, whether it be from yourself or an enemy interrupt, it gets put a cool down much shorter than the skills actual cool down ( I think around 4 seconds?).
I understand this mechanic for if you interrupt your own skill, but what if I interrupt someone else’s healing skill? Many times if I manage to interrupt an enemy’s healing skill, but I can’t kill him before he is able to recast it 4 seconds later.
That is just one situation. I’m trying to learn the game, so I’m just wondering why these interrupt cool downs are set up they way they are?
I sure hope so. It is one thing to lose a lot, but not knowing why frustrates me more
. How am I supposed to learn when I don’t know what is going on?!
Is there any reason as to why we cannot see another players stats? I’m not talking about down to the last detail. Just their toughness, power, precision, and vitality at least.
It would help know what players are capable of for noobs like me who don’t understand the game. Any chance of this in the future, and if not, why?
Sweet! Can’t wait to watch it. What made you decide to not have 2 of the same class?
I personally think it is really lame that you can switch skills or items at all while in a match… But that is just me
I’m not going to totally ditch this game after only about 2 months. I’ll play it along side LoL and see how far gw2 pvp comes in about a year.
How do you hear about Noll? I did the first event in lions arch, then I got a mail about an invasion in Caledon Forest so I did that, but I didn’t get any items there. Then I got a random mail about an invasion in Garrenhoff. I fought off the karka there, then I kept seeing this random event about Canach.
Am I supposed to do something before Canch that I missed some how?
When we defeat Canach, nothing happens. We talk to him, yet he does nothing. Some one mentioned that you receive mail once you beat him, but I have not received any mail.
Is this what is supposed to happen, because I thought it was supposed to be fixed?
Yes, backstab isn’t hard to deal with. Let them use this UBERPOWER build more often. It will make my games easier to win.
Let’s ignore backstab thieves still reign supreme.
lol, that is a funny comment sir. You are funny!
I’m really not seeing how backstab is so bad. I’ve played 80% of my games as a thief and I do just fine without the backstab build. Cluster bomb was way too strong, and with the nerf, it is still just fine.
Forest of Niflhel is NOT my favorite map. Why is this stat here? I normally play solo free tournaments, so I lose a lot before I hit the finals, or even the 2nd round. So naturally I’ll have played on Forest of Niflhel much more.
At least call the stat “Most Played” rather than “Favorite Map”.
Loving the other updates thought
So a few months ago I built a new computer. I get 60fps is most explorable areas. In LA or other city, I can’t seem to get a consistent 60fps. And in sPvp the fps dips to around 30-50fps. This is all on max settings at 1920×1080.
Specs:
i7 3770k stock speed
Nvidia GTX 670 4gb Overclock Edition
16gb ramI feel like I could get better results that what I am currently getting. These things aren’t the problem though. The problem that annoys me is that very frequently when I turn the camera, my fps drops dramatically to maybe 5fps or lower then it is fine for a little while again. I figure it is loading the map or something. Seriously though, it shoudn’t hit my fps like that all of the time. It sort of ruins my experience…
Any suggestions?
Crowded cities are problematic for most if not everyone. Read Q13 on fps issue when rotating camera
Thanks for pointing this out to me! I don’t think my cpu or gpu are holding it back, and I’m already on an SSD… So I’ll go ahead and assume the cause is the software bug they mention. I turned off the reflections and shadows, and fps still drops every once in a while when I rotate the camera…
oh well I suppose :/

And it was great hearing “Fear not this Night” and seeing all of the awesome characters. Then a sad feeling came across me. Tybalt wasn’t there! I just want to cry!
Such an awesome character!
PS: I was sitting in the instance long enough, and this magician named “Wozmack the Wonderful” just randomly appeared. After failing 2 magic tricks he summons a few illusionary moa’s and everyone (including the moa’s) starts dancing! So awesome!
Guild wars is different from lol. In lol they have 4 set skills. In gw2 each profession has many skills and many combinations of them to fulfill multiple rolls. If you restrict professions in gw2, you are restricting a huge part of the game.
Has no one seem the tournament leader boards in the mists? It isn’t actually working yet, but it is being worked on. I’m pretty excited for it
Plus, I love how many of you call EVERY aspect of a game grinding. It humors me :P
I’m not in an official team or anything, but I do run tournaments with some other people every other night.
I’m always looking for more people to play with! Send me a mail in game if you ever want to play together.
Yeah! I just hit rank 19 last night, and the same thing happend to me.
I found this thread, so I’m trying to avoid creating a new thread about team compositions.
So what are some “general role” compositions. So far I’ve really only heard of the “bunker” and “roamer”. What are some other roles that go with a team?
Which combinations of them seem work well (not looking for the “perfect team”)?
Which roles are the roles that you should probably have, or else you are going to have a rough time?
I do solo queue tournaments the majority of my time spent playing. I want to be able to ask my team what builds they are running, then I can choose a toon to switch to to best help the team.
Stability DOES protect against fear. I’ve been playing necro a lot lately. When I either try to stop a stomp on me or a teammate, some times the enemy won’t get feared. Then I look, and there is that dern stability boon.
I don’t know if blind or aegis would stop moa. But the cast time is so long that you could easily do the following: DODGE, DAZE, KNOCK-DOWN.
Many stronger skills have longer cast times to balance out the skills effectiveness.
If you get hit by moa with a 5 second cast time, I laugh at you whether you are on my team or not.
Yeah, well of darkness is great, especially when you have the trait that chills people when you blind them. Blind and chill for 5 seconds is great.
I never have to stomp a thief or mesmer 3 times. Do you dance around their bodies before attempting each stomp or something? If you do, that is just cruel man….
Duels: Currently Pointless at the state sPvp is in right now, better things to focus on. If you really want to duel, have you and your buddies rent your own server! Then bring that one scumbag to your server and show him up.
New Game Mode: Not needed/wanted. I want the current game mode to be near perfect before we worry about non-competitive/just-for-fun game modes.
Party Join sPvp. Umm, Free Tournaments! Did you not even read the blog post? With paid tournies, more serious groups will move to that, and free tournies will be less competitive so you can casually play with friends.
New Maps: The game has been out for a little over a month and you are expecting new maps on a game that they say isn’t completely done?
Future Nerfs: How can they post about nerfs if they aren’t even sure what they are nerfing? Like they say repeatedly, they are going to make promises until they are ready to release it, which is normally when they release a new patch silly.
I don’t even know why I replied to a rage post like this from a raging kid. But after seeing this post, it made me sort of irritated, so I replied to vent it off.
Have good day!
When used, mist form is the best down skill. Have a teammate interrupt the stomper once. Oh wait, you play it like a solo game, never mind. BUFF TEH ELEZ!
I was doing a tournament, and had a very fun fight!
I didn’t notice I even downed him which is why I didn’t attack for a bit. (I’m also new to a necromancer, so sorry for not so great play :P).
Such a fun game! Anyone else have epic fights like this?
No way should Elementalist’s down state be buffed. The 3rd skill in their down state is very powerful. First, you can run around invincible for a short amount of time, then when you drop to the floor, you are back at near full health! Then your teammate can rez you in about 1 second easily.
But most will complain that they get stomped before they can use that skill. Well guess what? TEAMWORK IS OVERPOWERED! So use it!
I’ve been playing a Necromancer lately with my friend who is an Elementalist. Any time team fights are going on in the middle we communicate pretty well. When he gets down, I keep an eye on him if I am unable to rez him right away. If someone goes for the stomp on him, I pop into DS and fear the stomper (along with other cc if need be). By the next stomp attempt, my friend can use his 3rd skill, run to a good spot near me, and it is an instant rez due to the health gain from that skill!
Elementalist down states are fine.
Please don’t talk with words such as “idiot pugs”, it makes me want to not take you or your posts seriously. It signifies that you are raging, and rage posts have no value. And it just isn’t needed in a post.
Any way, I feel like something should be done to the wait times as well. After the first round is completed, everyone is clearly active, so why wait another 5 minutes?
… Why don’t they start every fight with a full Life Force bar? I mean as a design decision, why not automatically fill Life Force whenever the Necro leaves combat? I mean, I appreciate the gameplay involved in managing Life Force acquisition and the economics of time with respect to being in Death Shroud, but outside of Elite Skill cooldowns (and some of the Guardian utilities, like Sanctuary, which was elite in beta), I don’t know of any other mechanic that gives a player a disadvantage in a fight (or strips him of an advantage) besides Death Shroud. Adrenaline drains out of combat anyway, so I think there’s a notion that the default state of a Warrior coming to combat should be no adrenaline; Ranger pets auto-revive now too, but what’s the default state for a Necromancer? Some variable amount of Life Force between 0 and 100%? That seems a little chancy, the overall dynamic nature of PVP notwithstanding.
I can see the problems with Necros trying to run to force combat to break so they could get the bar to fill up, but that’s really no different from any other profession breaking it for health. And the cooldown parity between other profession mechanics seems to already be in the DS skills, rather than the bar (with the exception, maybe, of the Guardian and Mesmer F4’s).
I’m not really lobbying for a change here, but I think it’s an interesting question, and I’d love to hear the thought process behind this from the developers responsible, since I think overall the Necro needs looking at. Maybe ultimately that doesn’t lead to buffs, but a look can’t hurt.
Well, death shroud allows you to take absolutely no damage for a good amount of time, and if activated only for the amount of time needed, can be used again in 10 seconds. If the life force recharges out side of combat, I would consider that OP. You could NEVER burst a necro down. On top of that, they would jus be able to use it too frequently considering what the effects are.
Well I seemed to have enough life force when I needed it, even if it wasn’t full.
I played about 15 tpvp games with a necro for the first time last night. When ever I ran into a quickness build, I’d just pop Death Shroud until their quickness runs out. I’d think that any necro build could do that.
Haha all I know is that in a tpvp match, a few of the people on the opposite team had really BA looking armor. They ended up dominating us
Armor sort of shows off your awesomeness already.
For sure man! It would be fun. I live in central time. I’m usually on in the evenings until about 1-2am. I’m actually going to be busy tonight (tests and stuff), but I’ll be on for about 2 hours. I’ll add you, and if you are on, we’ll talk more.
Lately I’ve been trying to get into spvp more. I’m only rank 11, so I haven’t played too much. Plus I’ve only done solo queue tpvp matches with no teamwork or communication really.
Are there any guilds or something out there that is good to get a group of people together that do a lot of spvp? It would make spvp much more enjoyable for me
