Since my earlier post is a couple pages back, I’ll just update my Torn from the Sky bug. I had to die and go to a checkpoint, then go back to the green circle near the wrecked ship. This time monsters had respawned there, and after killing them, Agent Gunnard says “Nothing useful, keep looking” then the quest chain moves to inside the airship.
Seems no one thought this out fully. Quest steps seem to “assume” something should happen but something else, in this case a story step, prevents the quest from moving on.
Oh and the audio still seems like there is some environmental effect going on. Voices fade out when I look at them directly as if NPCs are speaking in a cave, but since I’m outside, there is no echo return. I have set dialog volume to high, turned down everything else, still can’t hear correctly
When I choose to defend the camp after prologue, I am unable to progress past the wrecked airship. There is a green circle on minimap, where I think I’m supposed to locate something, but there’s nothing there to interact with.
If I go closer to the airship some dialog does start, but the path through the airship just loops back to the green circle. Again, nothing to discover, nothing to interact with.
Also I can’t hear NPCs when I stand directly in front of them. There is something wrong with the audio channels or it’s not being mixed correctly. Moving the camera to the right or the left of the speaker allows me to hear them, but not when I stand toe to toe with them. I’m using Logitech G430 headset with Dolby disabled. Jacks are plugged straight into the back of the computer, not using USB sound. I have set the sound from within Windows to 5.1 and within the client I am not using the “default device” setting. This has always worked before HoT
Some of my characters dialog is not being spoken. Some lines are, some not. I am playing as a male Norn if that helps
I noticed this happening right after they added the option to set your own camera distance. I sent in a bug, never heard anything more about it.
I’m always falling short, never seen anyone overshoot before.
lost 2 arrow carts from interrupt. Did not go back into inventory. Had 16 to begin with, was lucky to deploy one on the third try.
I’ve had this happen twice to me since most recent patch. I suspect it’s because the graphics options get reset every time they put out a patch. Currently my graphics settings default to high, with all check boxes enabled, each time I start the game.
Manually setting my graphics options back to what used to be “auto detect” then exiting the game normally has fixed this.
That’s Maize Balm being used to turn ambient critters into candy corn elementals. Can be bought on TP, and there is a recipe to make it yourself. Yes people farm them, but it’s not a bug.
I too have this problem only on my main character. On my others it doesn’t happen.
Any time I die or change maps the “!” always re-appears. I have all skill and traits unlocked, so can’t spend shards any more. The big trait circle almost fills up, then it stops at the last skill, and completes a full circle.
I have sent them a /bug
I have the Samsung 840 SSD, and map loading times are indeed improved. I’ve been using it for about 6 months and it has 1.45 terabytes written, which I’m told is good. Modern SSDs have max writes that go up to 100 TBs
I’m currently looking here for the live torture fest they are putting the SSD through, and so far theirs has lasted over 78 terabytes and it’s still working
http://ssdendurancetest.com/ssd-endurance-test-report/Samsung-840-EVO-120
Samsung claims that if you write 10GB each and every day to the 256GB model I have, that It will last 44 years.
Fixing this should be a top priority. We paid for this after all.

4. I was in Eternal Battlegrounds
5. I was moving from green spawn point to Stone Mist Castle. I was south of green keep.
7. Aegis was active on me when I died, and was still on me when I respawned.
8. The game lagged a couple seconds before death. I was unable to activate any skills, when the client caught up I was dead. I did not notice any red damage numbers when I died.

I am getting this sometimes when I exit the game, sometimes not. I don’t crash or disconnect, just exit normally.
I don’t run any command line arguments, and i’ve repaired the client.
Regaining account lent to a Friend

This sounds similar to my situation.
Ex girlfriend buys me a gift of gw2 from some buddy’s(lol ya right) credit card, which I link to my Hall of Monuments. I register the game with my email address, then change email address to hers. Later she changes password on me so I can’t login any more.
I sent in support ticket asking for return of the account, they replay with request for information. I give them CD key, time of registration down to the hour, email address, name of characters on the account etc etc. They reply that because I can’t provide the credit card information, I’m not the account owner, despite the registration being in the same email address I’ve used for guild wars for years, despite the fact that I have the CD key, Despite the fact that it’s linked to my HoM, as if she just linked it for any other purpose than to gift it to me.
Has been my experience that they will not turn over the account. Pretty messed up situation.
They also tell me they cannot shut down the account despite me telling them it’s violating the terms of service, as that “Isn’t a service they offer”

Browsing through this thread, didn’t notice if this was already listed.
I can no longer hear anything coming out of the scepter of thorn, when you click skill 3 for a Madly Funny Joke, I hear nothing, but the animation plays.
I have gone so far as to buy a new power supply to solve this problem, and that didn’t work. Still getting random artifacts like these.
Currently I’m using catalyst control center to lower the memory clock speeds from it’s default of 1600 downward in 25mhz increments . 1575, 1550, 1525, yup artifacts still there. Right now it’s setting at 1500, and I’ve been running that for a few days. No artifacts yet.
I have an SSD and no crashes
can we remove or hide this bar?

You’re running the game in windowed mode. That would be why.
If your motherboard has more than one PCI-E slot, move the card to the top most available slot. Motherboard makers include more than one for dual card purposes, where both cards split the number of lanes, or for using some strange peripheral, not for video card usage
If your motherboard has only one PCI-E slot, then your card has probably come loose. power off the computer, pull the card, maybe clean the contacts with a bit of rubbing alcohol, then put it back in.
What works for me is tipping the computer over on it’s side so the card is straight up.
Check GPU-Z, to make sure you have the card properly seated, or you may have the card in the wrong slot. If the bus interface reads anything but x16, you’re having a problem.

[SOLVED] Good specs / Low fps

Use GPU-Z to determine if your card is operating at the correct PCI-E width. I discovered after I moved that frames were in the 15 to 20 FPS range, while before my R7 260x gave me 60 FPS all but the most demanding situations.
When I looked at the bus interface for my graphics card I found it was running only on x2 width. setting the computer on it’s side so that the graphics card points straight up, then re-inserting the card fixed the problem.
Basically you want to make sure your video card has the full x16 PCI-E lanes to work with.

I have noticed this, I think it’s to help you keep the 4 interactive spots in view. I prefer it this way, but I too get motion sickness when I rotate the screen continually. This even happened to me in GW1, when I’d run around in circles. Strangely this doesn’t ever happen in battle, probably because I’m not focused on the screen, but on whats happening around me. Perhaps if you looked not at the screen as a whole, but maybe fixate on some other object?
That video doesn’t cover the type of artifacts showing up in game. It is a flickering, checkerboard pattern. I’ve tried everything in the video, including running my memory at standard speeds.
Bout the only thing I haven’t tried is a new PSU. The one I have is a $20 used no name 550 watt, which exceeds the graphics cards needs.
I have a theory: These cards have a low power state, which lowers the clock speeds while idle or light work like browsing. Since GW2 has a browser in the form of BLTP, this might be causing the card to run in low power mode.
There is a registry hack to disable low power mode, but you must re-enable it each time you update your drivers. As of driver 14.12 I haven’t tried this, but when I did use it the black screens stopped.

Seriously, you guys gotta come up with something new. Okay first time was interesting, now it’s the norm. If we’re going to continue with the same sex thing, I demand 2 burly, hairy, tall Norn, just to keep things equal.

Try alt-tabbing to desktop and alt tab back into game. Works temporarily.

I have all those settings checked except high res characters, and this problem still happens irregularly.
Tried display driver uninstaller, tried driver 14.4, even tried to disable system memory overclocking, still happening.
Thanks tho for keeping this thread going.
This is just sadistic. It’s hard enough to get up to the goggles, but then you’re expected to jump into a tiny pool of water that you can’t even see from up there, like some clown jumping into a little bucket
The price of failure is too high. Hit the cross beams on the way down, and you got to climb all the way back up to the dive point again.
I have ragequit on this 3 times already An achievement should be given just for reaching the goggles.

Sorry to say It’s a Known problem with AMD video cards. Driver updates don’t fix it, disabling any memory overclocks don’t fix it, disabling any anti aliasing same same same.
Personally I have tried all the above. My only conclusion would be maybe graphics card clocks are too high, but I seem to remember a threat where somebody experimented with that as well.
One guy even returned his card to the store, came back with a new one, popped it in, and got the same artifacts.
Don’t feel bad though, I have this same problem was well as many other AMD users.
Alt tab fixes it though until the next time it’s triggered.

This appears to be the known issue with AMD video cards. If this is a laptop, i’d say it was overheating.
If this is an AMD card, alt-tab out of the game, then back in. Works temporarily.

Nope, lowering ram timings does not fix this.

I have this problem also. My ram is overclocked via XMP from the Bios. Today I shall try disabling XMP and running GW2 for a long while to see if this happens again. I’ll post here if this goes away.
Alt-tab out of the game and onto your desktop, then maximize back into the game. This fixes the problem, but it will come back again.
That’s not a complete fix, but it works, somebody else discovered that for us here on the forums.
There have been a few posts like yours. People have shared screenshots. It has been known that Rx cards all have this problem.
Worked for me, gave me 4 mad king outfits, though the scepter now seems to be separate, you have to use it from inventory to get the mad king’s skills.
I’m missing my mad king thorn outfit. It’s not in bank, not in hero pane either.

Thank you to the guy who replicated the issue on his old and new card. At least we can put the defective hardware issue to rest.
Could it be this is a focus issue? As in, the card fails to grab the display? Could that be why atl-tab makes it go away?
I’m just throwing that out there.
That video advises you to disable the paging file, or “swap” file.
Unwise unless you have 16 gigabytes of memory.

Is this on an AMD video card? If so, others have the same problem.
No solution has been offered. You can alt-tab to desktop and back into the game, this usually fixes it till it happens again.
Some say it’s a bad video card, but your posts adds to the many that I have seen, and that makes me doubt the defective hardware scenario.

Also consider: if this was a hardware issue, why does alt-tab and bringing up the map screen temporarily fix it?
If all our cards are broken, shouldn’t all, or one certain piece of artwork on the same toon trigger this?
How are we able to play for days, or hours at least just fine and dandy?
I kinda get the feeling it might be a graphical setting, or cards artifact when stressed or overclocked/overheated
From the stretching it causes I want to think it’s engine related.

I already have the latest direct x and graphics card drivers, and I don’t really believe the hardware can be blamed for this.
Maybe if OP were the only one having this problem I could see that, but nope it’s more than one person as the screenshots show.
From what I understand, If the graphics card were spazzing out, the corrupted graphics would not appear in a screenshot, correct?

I also have this problem on R7 260X. I have pics but don’t want to upload them. It’s also been suggested to me that this is a hardware problem but yours is not the only thread regarding this bug, so I can’t really imagine that we all have bad cards.
This seems to happen to me when I alt-tab out of the game and leave firefox running in the background. Bringing up the world map also kinda clears it up, but when you’re facing the corrupted scene the problem just reappears. Note the second bullet in Aza’s reply. Seems to happen when a lot of players are on screen, but I think this just implies that there are more bodies to glitch up on.
FXAA is on in my catalyst control panel, and I’ve wondered if that might have anything to do with it.
new nvidia beta driver 320.49

Posted by: Knight In Shining Armor.1708
I updated to the 320 driver before this beta, and GW2 did run better. However, while browsing with firefox the curser would freeze every few seconds, and the next day, when I moved the mouse to wake up my monitor, I got an error message saying something about nividia “stopped responding and recovered.”
Right away I uninstalled and went back to 314 driver, and no more freezing or locking up.
There is a feedback thread for these beta drivers, and having read through it, I see the freezing with firefox issue is still not fixed.
So I must stay at 314.
