Can’t get the Precision Blade achievement because every time I try I have to listen to meetings and introductions then get sworn in to the shining blade. By then I’m bored with the whole endeavor.
a retry mote would be nice here.
Graphics glitch after alt-tabbing
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Knight In Shining Armor.1708
This used to happen to me with an R7 260x that was factory overclocked, only alt tabbing fixed the problem, didn’t cause it. It would happen randomly in game with no browser open and alt tabbing to desktop and back would usually fix it.
I now have an R7 370 and it has never done this. So it could be the card going bad or power supply not giving enough juice.
In my case I always believed that because it temporarily fixed when I went to desktop and back that the card was overheating. When 2D items display video cards typically use a different clock speed. Next time this happens open world map and see if graphics are corrupted.
Both components might need replacing before you can really isolate which one is at fault.
Like I said earlier, it’s not optional if I’m herded, steered, or encouraged to use these things. It’s not optional if reaching said location pushes the story forward.
If it’s optional, give me the option to disable it. Lower the height of the jumps so said thingy will reach. Let the gimmick last long enough for me to make use of it. Let the lava tube go directly where I need to be.
You didn’t answer the question. Is it truly optional if the reward is only given by following the devs laid out path?
It’s optional like stopping at a red light is optional. Sure you can ignore it. But let’s say you get a mastery point if you stop. Is it still optional then?
Just figured that out. Me thinking an undead was a corpse. Hah silly me.
Really the logic of this stuff needs to be thought out before release.
So I kill a ley line critter, I gather around a bunch of undead, I press skill 3. Nothing.
I’m inside the event circle. I’ve tried wounding the undead till they’re nearly dead then killing ley line dude then pressing 3. I’ve tried using different ley line critters. I’m making sure the undead are within skill 3 radius.
The event is stuck at 1/3 undead reclaimed. Somebody PM me when they fix this crap. I’ll be in wvw.
I’m talking about oakheart’s essence, lava tubes, zephyr skills and now these ley line critters that look like they came from Pre Catacombs.
Nearly every single map released under living story for the past year has used some gimmick to get around.
I hope it’s not this way with xpack 2.
When I land on a new map on day 1, I know absolutely Nothing about how to use these things. It’s confusing.
You gave us gliding, isn’t that good enough? Can’t we just use that to get around? You gave us bouncy mushrooms that we had to grind to use. Why can’t we just use those methods?
None of the methods introduced in older maps are viable in the newer ones. You never see these things carry over. It’s wasteful
Anet: you want the game to be accessible. You want some kinda tutorial when you release new maps. If looking up a guide or watching a video is mandatory, then the whole game should run in my browser, get it?
When I dive into a new chapter I wanna get out there, get into the action, get things done. I don’t wanna have to hunt for little neutral skelks in out of the way places to get the nearest vista/poi/wp/whatever.
It’s frustrating and makes me wanna exit game rather than find the one true method.

Very sick and dizzy playing the HoT

Just curious, can you try adjusting the FOV slider in options? What FPS were you getting on the rotating stairway?
I myself get mildly dizzy when the whole camera rotates, as in using the w and a keys to spin around in a circle repeatedly. It goes away when I stop spinning or when I stare not at the whole picture but only focus on one part of the screen like the map or the skill bar.
I remember that helix rotates a bit slowly while the effect I’m describing effects me only when fps is constant and only when things spin round and round fast enough to make me feel queasy.
I want to add that some people reported feeling sick during the final boss fight in Caudecus’s Manor in lake doric during the head of the snake storyline. The room with the spinning faces in particular.
This didn’t bother me at all because I focused on the boss itself, not staring at the whole screen all the time, and probably because FPS was not constant during the fight.

Me too………..
I died like this on the wooden rails on top of the arch outside SW camp. Wish I had taken a screenshot.
Hmmm, from Lion’s Arch in the water near the lighthouse the Sun does seem to move in the generally correct direction. The Sun never seems to dip below the horizon, just kinda slides behind the terrain. Still the Moon And Sun do crisscross each other, not parallel like in EB.
So this would mean that LA is on top of the world where the Sun just circles, or if it does set it’s behind the mountains so the axis of Tyria would be very extreme.
See in this Gif I made the Sun slides South as it sets, and the Moon Rises from the South and moves Northeast across the sky.
Attachments:
It’s not possible for one to be rising and one falling on the same side of the sky.
Go to EB, face west, watch and see.
On The WvW map Eternal Battlegrounds I witnessed a rare sight. The Sun and Moon both in the same position in the sky. The Sun is rising in the West, which is clearly backwards, while the Moon was setting also in the west.
Well after observing different maps it would seem this is a limitation of the game engine. In fact, I haven’t seen the Sun in the eastern sky at all or even directly overhead. Looks like no matter where you are the Sun is always in the Western sky.
I have added an additional Gif from atop Stonemist Castle in WvW showing the Sun rising in the West again. You can see the flat nature of the sky if you look long enough. It took me almost an hour of watching the sky to notice this. Game showing it’s age.

This is the reason why I won’t go back there and finish the boss achievements. I’d like to be able to compile the elixir and park my character there until I’ve studied the boss fight. Instead the elixir timer counts down even when I’m not playing the character with the elixir.
I thought the way the faces were shadowed so they always seemed to be looking at the player was an excellent effect. Looked like plaster molded depressions to me. Didn’t get that fish eye feeling.
But that one in LS2 where you have to fight that tendril dragon thing that was warped.
^Incorrect, and a potion of mordrem slaying would make me happy

I just got gold on Tendril Torchers last night after a year of trying off and on. I had to use guild currency to buy a swiftness banner.
For Shooting Gallery I was able to get silver after only a couple attempts, which does award a mastery point. May I suggest moving closer to the target? The pic attached looks too far away for me. Since the first set of targets pop up in a fixed location I’ve had to memorize the pattern and place myself correctly.
The next few targets spawn further back into that shallow cave and one appears up high on that wooden platform/arch thing, so I like to move into there so I can turn around and hit the high ones.
Not saying it’s easy. Going by Tendril Torchers, I know it’s not. Maybe a swiftness banner or booster might help as it did with me.
I’m also having this problem. The town is always on fire as if it’s been attacked, and there are Seraph NPC’s just outside town waiting to retake it, but they are waiting for some other event to complete. They never retake New Loamhurst, so the achievement is impossible because we need the town to be on our side first so we can defend it.
Edit: Finally was able to get this done. The key appears to be that in game it must be nighttime. No matter how many times the various event chains around the town repeats, the defense event happens at night.
This of course is all wrong. If the 3 events are treated in common per the achievement then the 3 towns should all be attacked in some common fashion, let’s say by rotation.
Why does New Loamhurst have to be the quirky town?

I completely agree with you. We have to carry multiple instances of these items on each toon we bring along. Clogs up space and is getting repetitive.
Right now my game is hanging on fractal loading screen. I can login but get repeated error 42, even when I dismiss the message it pops back up again.
It’s doing it again. I finished one fractal map, try to load back into starting area, game hangs on loading screen.

Today I want to talk about 2 quests under the Current Events tab. Both quests “Informed Politics” and “Open Letters” require players to locate the same item, Posted Messages on the side of buildings all over Krytan territory.
So, right away the average joe, not knowing the 2 quests require the same action is going to get confused. Me, I can tell there are 2 diff quests so this wasn’t much of a problem until the point where both quests overlap.
At Viathan’s Arm in Kessex Hills there are 2 posters each of which goes with both quests. Tearing down one does not complete the other, yet only one location is listed for each quest.
I swear I have sent in bug reports claiming one quest was broken because the location would not complete, not knowing there were 2 posters in one location. Both quests requiring players to perform the same action just adds to the confusion.
There is no need for these to be separate quests. It’s as if 2 people were assigned to code this, neither of which knew about the other. There needs to be oversight, bugchecks, someone to supervise.
Also, there are 3 quests labelled Ley Line Researched, Ley-Line Research and Ley-Line “Research”, none of which have anything to do with each other. Sometimes “Ley Line” is hyphenated sometimes not. Again I picture 3 devs at the water cooler, each assigned a quest, none knowing really whats going on. Either that or one person ran out of creativity when naming these things.
And these one off items like the dwarven thumb serve no purpose other than to advance the plot. I’m sick of carrying these things around on each of my characters who are on different steps of the quest. It gets to the point where I can’t remember if I need these items for each toon. You need to ditch these items.
Somebody needs to be in charge. Someone should be checking these things before you release them.

There is no cow level!
Don’t force players to make a choice that your matchup system created. Don’t force players to play on empty maps. Don’t force players to change servers to accommodate your architecture.
People have less incentive to play if you control the outcome. You negate each players contribution.
Both machines in my apartment are unable to login. Can reach character select screen but can’t play any of them.
The monsters depicted with this thing are smaller than miniatures, only display for half a second, and are not placed well enough to recognize the shapes that it shows. For instance sometimes the thing shows 3 monster types but by the time I’ve panned and zoomed in the monsters are gone.
Also, in order to actually make use of it, I have to keep my inventory open until I can tell what monsters are displayed, dig into my achievement panel to see what maps to go to, and read a guide to find out the rotation of the spawning monsters.
This is too many tabs and windows open, too much switching between tasks. Can’t we just get some sort of indication of which direction to go? Kinda like using a shovel in Silverwastes?

Couple questions: Will the new bloodstone items still be available with tickets?
Will the new basket brawl be available?
1 Ban all free accounts from playing ranked. This will help with those trolling and re rolling.
2 More maps. Don’t care if conquest or some other type.
3 Reward 1 ticket on match loss.
4 Some other folks agree: limit class stacking.
5 Something else to do while waiting for queue to pop.
Whats Svanir? Hahah had a good chuckle at that.
Last season it was smurfing.
Now is farming bad players.
Here is the best answer (i am completely ironic) to your question:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/Why-do-skilled-people-make-alt-accounts/first#post6072001“babayum.1895
My main is in legendary eu
I created this account just so i can kill noobs in amber emerald and sapphire, yes it’s true and idc its fun. When you slaughter them 1vs2 all game on their close node you just have this big fat smile on your face, just how it is mates.
The problem is that now this account is almost in diamond and opponents are getting better so i have to create a new f2p account soon to slaughter the noobs in the future. Ah well its fast to get to rank 20 nways.”But please… consider doing the same.
If you have enough game to get good rotation, map awereness and 1v1 skills… do a second F2P account.
You will be surprised by how easier it is to do than your main account. Even without HoTs.
New account got better MMR than average, so your team will carry you until you hit legendary. (more chance for that than not, because wins streak will add up to your win/lose ratio that will always give you better team mate than other team)
If you are unlucky (lose streak), reroll a new account.
So how can we called this cheeze tactics?
Smurfing —> Giganting new account.
Abusing new account policy…
Hmm… i am bad at naming how to abuse system.
I am still Diamond, I still queue with my team. But I don’t soloq anymore. Well… perhaps I should try a new F2P account, to raise ANET stats of new player!!
(free to boost stat up with some door to abuse system gift from Anet, cheaper than spending 200k on marketing).
This entire thing sounds quite sarcastic. Not sure he’s joking. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, and this really is the mindset of your typical PVP’er.
Why would you go and run all your alts through again and again?
I have heard it said that PVP’ers want more close matches, more interesting fights. Why don’t you go hang out with other high rankers then?
This seems deliberately trollish. As though you enjoy running over your lessers. Once not enough? You have to prove it over and over again?
This cannot be in any way good for the PVP community. You say you want more competition, but you steamroll any that comes your way. Keep going like this, and there won’t be any competition. You are killing off everybody who cares to try their luck.
Now before anyone says “get gud,” I finished season 1 in ruby. And now I’m stuck in emerald. EMERALD. Clearly my skills haven’t gotten worse between now and then, and I’m seeing way way too many amber players just destroy my teams to be new players.
What do you gain by abusing and exploiting every single advantage, not once, but on every alt you own?
Just tried this mission and it bugged out on me during the pale tree fight. I had her nearly dead and she just disappeared from the center of the expanding circles. The firstborn sacrifices continued to spawn and walk into the circles of death over and over again.
Killing them didn’t seem to make any difference. Letting them walk to the center and die made no difference. There is no way to leave the instance. I had to enter the PVP lobby in order to escape.
I’m happy I’m not the only one who finds raiding a waste of time better spent elsewhere.
There are other priorities Anet should be paying attention to.
Also remember you’ll need a motherboard that holds Intel CPUs. You cannot fit an Intel processor into a socket that fits Phenom II.
They seem quite busy today. I’ve got 8 whispers back to back just now. All of them with nonsense names like asdfasdf and ghvbklioup. As soon as I block one name and report another one comes in. It’s like they are testing blocked names and creating new ones instantly.
All of them are spamming PVP bank. (SSL APPROVED)!!!
This is getting beyond irritating. One or two is irritating. This is downright harassment.
Edit 9 now, just when changing characters.

Someone once said when they stepped onto VB they were hit all at once with new map icons, multiple orange circles indicating simultaneous events in progress all over the place and not a clue where to go first, and I agree with this.
Nothing explains or guides the player on where to go. You just step in a map and everything flashes all at once. Timers ticking. Events are moving ahead without you even getting near. Trying to move directly from point A to point B so that you can participate in these events will likely result in your death from falling, or will lead you into a massive mob of pocket raptors.
Maps are deliberately drawn so that the paths go over, under, and through each other without ever actually making it obvious where they go. When maps are all on a timer players are rushed pushed and herded to achieve something, anything, from this new content without giving a chance to properly explore their new surroundings.
Oh you missed a step in one of the multiple story events? Ha ha chump, you got to wait bout an hour for the whole map to cycle through again back to where you left off. There should be ONE series of missions per map, not all these different scattered factions all with their own agenda that you have to help them through. This fractions the players off in all kinds of different directions, none of which help the other outposts.
Mini games are not “Adventures.” They only take place in a tiny portion of the map, and you can’t step out of bounds. That would be like saying I’m on a “Quest” to find some sunshine, which is right outside.
They are locked most of the time, and when they are available, the waypoint closest to them is contested, forcing players to run there through hordes of mordrem to reach something that could just as easily have been placed in the guild hall. These just add more clutter to maps that are already overflowing with chaos.
Raids. Just jolly. Standing around in an instance for an hour doesn’t fill the xp bar, doesn’t earn gold, doesn’t count towards map completion. The gear checks on these are too narrow. If you aren’t running the One True Build, you have 0, ZERO, chance if success. 90% of players will never finish one, and the rewards are available to purchase without setting foot inside.
A couple pages back somebody said that gliding in core Tyria was the best thing about the expansion and I’d say thats what I came away with also. But was it worth $60?
No.
When HoT first came out I had the issue where NPCs couldn’t be heard if I was looking right at them, but their voices faded in the more I turned the camera. I had to drop to 4 speakers in my sound settings that fixed the issue. Maybe there’s just not enough volume on the center channel.
I never considered FOV might be causing it.
I’m using logitech G430 headphones hooked into the analog connectors, not the “virtual” surround USB thingy.
I manage my sound settings with Sound Blaster Cinema. This is just software that installs on top of my normal Realtek audio codec.
I too would like to see classes locked during match countdown. It’s too easy for players to just jump on a counter to whatever they see coming.
I just witnessed 4 rubies carry 1 emerald to victory in a matchup so obviously pre made as to defy all explanation.
The very next match I watched 2 enemy players disconnect during match countdown only to see 2 complementary classes appear in their place. This is in no way random but is done to counter the classes they would face.
They’re not even trying to hide their behavior.
Teams should receive an automatic defeat if this is how it’s gonna be.
If you consider guild wars 2 to have too many skills, you haven’t played guild wars 1.
Just how big is this patch anyway?

One character makes a brief, minor appearance since who knows how long, and abruptly dies.
Other character on the other hand, died better than Belinda Delaqua.
I thought the cinematic had great facial expressions.
I cannot understand the value of using up 2 skills to pull some mob trash, when the same result can be had with 1.
Not like there are many choices. Staff can’t be used in the off hand, and shield you have to unlock.
As a guardian I regularly pull multiple monsters To me, this on the other hand, seems half thought out. A heavy shouldn’t be pulling normal monsters out of the mob. He should be tanking the mob.
Any monster with a break bar can’t be pulled any way, correct? So whats the point? Unless Jade Winds doesn’t hurt the break bar.
Another thought occurs to me: since the Rev has no useful crowd control that would work on a champion monster (can’t be knocked back, pulled, launched) why would you be trying to mess with it’s break bar by teleporting Away from it?
OK I understand maybe to escape it’s counter attack, but pull it? It’s immune to pull in the first place, therefore, useless. To get out of it’s range you could just dodge or move away.
It’s going to do something Bad anyway no matter if it’s bar is full or depleted. Seems to me a soft control like cripple would be most appropriate, since you want to get away from it’s break bar attack. Heck even immobilize would do the job.
(edited by Knight In Shining Armor.1708)
I assume you’re referring to skill 9, 8 is another backwards evasion. And, Phase Traversal can be used stand alone, without the need for Grasping Shadows.
I’ve yet to see this skill interrupt anything. If I wanted to interrupt something, I’d use Jade Winds, without the sudden movement.
Seriously, did they run out of ideas before the skill bar was completed? Was this just tossed in when somebody couldn’t come up with something better?
This skill only pulls normal enemies, not larger creatures. I’ve yet to see a champion monster get pulled by this. Static monsters like tendrils and wurms aren’t going anywhere.
All this does is move a heavily armored tank into the backline, out of melee range. It breaks the flow of a fight and any combo fields laid down are wasted.
At most this puts the Rev inches from a fall off a ledge, away from an important event.
If this was thrown in for pvp, can’t it be split from it’s pve version?
Please come up with something besides this.
Torn from the Sky, finding the salvage pieces is bugged. Tried advice from previous post and it did not work. Jumping off the ledge and dying did NOT cause me to re-spawn to the green circle. Thanks.
When you die you are getting the option to continue from a checkpoint yes?
