It’s a slight buff, as in you wont get stomped instantly, however they nerfed the duration of the mist form, and you can’t go near as far as before the change
The immobilize is still worthless
but eh, I’ll take it
it’s at least decent now
A strange changed, but one that hardly affects real gameplay
We got a couple nice changes and you’re quitting?
lol
Same thing happening on Sanctum of Rall at the Northfields waypoint in Gendarren Fields, has to be a broken one

You’re not going to kill a GOOD d/d elementalist as a warrior unless you catch them with no cooldowns up.
After having played a lot of d/d elementalist in WvW the classes that give me the most troubles are mesmers and thieves (big surprise there).
Thieves mostly because of rendering / culling issues. But I usually don’t have a problem getting away if they start to burst me. Also the fight usually goes in my favor, the thief just gets away because it’s hard to pin them down.
Mesmers can be kinda rough if you aren’t watching for confusion and get rid of it right away. Also harder when solo and not in a group. If you’re in a group, just mark the real mesmer and it’s a lot simpler.
Guardians and Warriors you can kite all day long. If they knock you down / hundred blows, just pop mist form, or lightning flash and it wastes all their cooldowns. Pretty easy to get around the one trick pony builds.
People say D/D isn’t very good in group pvp but I beg to differ. I’ve broken up many group fights, simply by going into the middle of everyone and unloading aoes. Since you’re flying around with so much mobility, it’s hard for people to target you, and when you do get targeted (assuming you’re not glass cannon) it’s relatively easy to escape.
D/D elementalist is one of the best dueling classes imo, but it’s also the highest skill cap.
Culling / rendering issues are “better” but not fixed. And my machine is more than enough for this game. Still needs a lot of works. That’s one of the main reasons why thieves are so deadly / annoying is because of the rendering issues.
Dungeons involve a lot of death when you’re first learning. That’s how it should be.
However if you’ve been running dungeons for a while and you’re STILL dying over and over then there’s a problem with something you’re doing…
Queues on SoR are becoming unplayable during primetime :\
This boss is pretty boring once you figure it out but using a safe spot? You’re doing it wrong.
3 people using lasers, but EVERYONE jumps down after you’ve activated the lasers. Everyone gets at least 6-8 seconds of dps. Use burst damage skills for your utility slots, elite etc.
When the shield is about to go back up, just jump on the bottom red platform, then jump to the stairs which lead back up. Rinse, repeat.
This whole post screams “Look at me!”
:P
Aside from the awful queues it’s been a lot of fun, hopefully it keeps up
You’re comparing Eve to Guild Wars 2…….
nuff said.
Friendly fire? In an MMO? Hahahahahahahaha.
Do you know how much griefing would take place?
“Dude you stole my kill” , “No way it was mine”, “You suck”, “No you suck”
Commence friendly fire in the middle of a zerg while two people argue it out…..
Yeeeeeah, no.
Yes, this isn’t really a problem with just these servers, it’s an overall problem. And until Anet does something about it, WvW is just going to keep going downhill with the same thing happening over and over again.
I was having a blast with WvW and figured I would be spending a lot more time in it, but the cracks are starting to show, and need to be fixed or it’s just going to be a disaster.
I hope you are looking into changing a lot of the boss fights. Right now there’s very few that are fun to repeat.
Alpha is fun, but since he’s in all 3 paths it’s a little overkill.
Lt. Kohler in AC is fun, but everyone tries to skip him.
Too many “wave” events, or “everyone do this at the same time” which boils down to “Who do we blame when we’re at 4/5 and can’t go any further”. Events and bosses need to promote teamwork, not each person “solo’ing” within a dungeon.
Paths were promoted as being vastly different experiences, and while a few of them are. Places like AC, the bosses are pretty much the exact same. CoE alpha is pretty much the same in all 3.
A lot of your underwater stuff is great, but man the boss fights in Honor of the Tides underwater are booooring.
What if would have been awesome, is if you gave each boss around 10 abilities. Take the 3 end bosses in AC for example. Instead of 3 paths, they’re all now in the first path. Each time you do the 1st path it could be 1 of 3 “types” of boss. But that would take more time to create, it’s just a little disappointing to do a “new” path, only to fight the same bosses just with 1 different ability that really doesn’t change a whole lot.
Light and Heavy are fine, Medium gets shafted with too many trench coats, face masks, and the pirate hat.
And I’m a light armor wearer :P
Am I the only one that thinks the server transfers are a good thing for now? Yeah, my gaming was ruined this week. However the dissipation of guilds that originally all clustered onto a select few servers onto less populated servers will be good for the game in the long run. There will be a point, hopefully within a month or two, where the free transfers work themselves out, and queues/populations will be better for everyone all around. After that I am sure Anet will turn off the free transfers.
The problem with it is the way it’s setup now. There’s absolutely no penalty for transferring to a winning server. No lockout, nothing. The populations will never even out unless more populated servers are locked out of transfers, transfers are locked out of WvW for a period of time, or something along those lines.
These dungeons are not hard. CoE is even a cake walk once you learn how to fight alpha.
The problem is a lot of them are just not fun and have boring mechanics. Some of the bosses are just HP soakers, that make you fall asleep while dps’ing. Adds that have enormous amounts of hp.
Imo, make the boss fights shorter. But more mechanics, and more difficulty.
I’d also love to see them get rid of waypoint zerging but there would be lot of crying about that one probably.
Also a lot of the events are disappointing. May just be me but I want to fight a boss for loot. Not just events over and over again. Some events are fine, but there seems to be a lot of them to replace bosses. And most of them can be cheesed or are too easy. Takes away that feeling of accomplishment when you kill a boss.
SoR would have rallied back against Yak’s Bend regardless of transfers after coming off the win from the week before. The score would have been much closer and a lot more fun. But they wouldn’t have “stomped” us or anything.
When they were ahead, queue times were still not that bad. Now they’re just atrocious.
So the truth comes out. SoR gained not one but 8+ guilds not even counting tag alongs… when they were behind… and want people to believe they had no affect on this week? What a joke.
It’s affected the match to the point where it’s not fun. However, SoR was winning before everyone transferred, and I didn’t see THAT many more people until we came back from behind and had quite a good lead.
Once we had a solid lead in this matchup the number of people we had just became ridiculous. Hour long queues, and all borderlands with a queue. Compared to the numbers pvp’ing from Gates of Madness and Yak’s it was just a zerg fest.
Not fun for either side imo.
Texas Longhorn spams all the time in every zone I’ve seen him. I wouldn’t touch that guild with a 6 foot pole.
PvE – it’s great.
PvP – it sucks, when you down someone they should stay down
Also I agree with someone else who said dead people’s revive bar should tick down unless being revived
Subject alpha is actually one of the -better- designed fights. Requires you to to pay attention. The more you fight Alpha the more you learn and the patterns become a lot easier. I only go about 1 time per fight, and haven’t actually died in a long time since first learning it.
Granted I wish there was more variety to him in the 3 paths, but its still a good fight.
The higher we rise? Rankings will forever be meaningless until transfers are in some way stopped from participating in WvW for at least a while….
Sure it’s fun to have server pride right now, but a true ranking with the system they’ve got now? Yeah right….
Love my elementalist. Started out as a warrior, wasn’t too bad. Made it to level 65, got really boring hitting 3 buttons over and over.
Switched to elementalist and have never looked back. Such a fun class. Found a great build online and love it. D/D is so much fun both in pve and pvp. Haven’t done any tournament pvp but in WvW its a blast.
I’m always playing tanks and melee, its been a loooong time since I’ve played a caster the most. Almost since Everquest, but it’s a lot of fun.
If you don’t believe you can be outnumbered by enemy zergs, then you obviously haven’t played WvW enough. We are completely outnumbering them everywhere in every battleground the past 5 days or so. It’s not even fun.
I hope next week is better.
Also hour + long queues suck
If the queues weren’t so bad, it’d be fun to have everyone queue up as level 1’s or something
One team – Asura
Next team – Charr
Last team – Hippy wood elves
Choose a relatively neutral spot on the map and go at it…..
would probably get ruined by griefers but it’s fun to think about :P
SoR won fairly enough and with great effort without the free transfers…..
Having said that, our queue times on SoR have doubled, there’s tons of new guilds I’ve never seen before WvW’ing, and there’s hardly any Yak’s Bend or GoM pvping either. It’s extremely one-sided and boring compared to the matches we had before. No we didn’t just win because of free transfers, however it has greatly affected the WvW and I hope Anet shuts them down soon because it’s only going to get worse.
Thieves are fine as a class, the problem is in huge battles when you run into rendering / culling issues, then you never even see them. By the time it “renders” their character they’ve already stealthed again.
This isn’t even an issues with enemies suddenly appearing out of nowhere like they did before the last couple patches. This is an issue with enemies AND allies being invisible for 30+ minutes in a battleground and you can’t see anyone. All you can do is tab target and hope you dont get run over by an invisible zerg. It’s game breaking and makes pvp unplayable.
A while back it was bad, but not this bad.
Invisible enemies….and I dont mean thieves or mesmers :P
This weeks’ matchup would have been 10x more epic without the invisible enemies problem. Sadly just about everytime I went out, I couldn’t see anyone friend or foe. Really sucked. Was fun whenever people did appear though.
You know you can get down to the bottom even before the shields are down. You don’t wait for the shields to go down, then start jumping. You have everyone start each laser and immediately jump down. Everyone has the same amount of time to attack him.
It’s like 6-8 seconds. I agree it should be a little longer, but it’s not -that- bad. Using a safe spot is lazy.
Had problems a couple weeks ago with enemies slowly appearing, but never invisible for the whole fight. Now even allies and enemies alike are invisible. All I’m getting is spell effects and no bodies whatsoever. This is really making WvW unplayable for me
Have tried restarting client, rebooting computer, moving to a “less populated borderlands”, nothing helps.
You seem to be the one complaining. First you rant about how poorly anet is responding. It’s one month into the game…give them a little time. They fix the bugs they know they can fix, THEN deal with the ones they can’t figure out right away. Be patient.
Elementalist do not have “gutless” damage. And you’re not locked into a role. Elementalists are one of the most versatile classes, it’s not the classes fault you don’t use it right. If you’re having problems with “one-shot” mechanics then you probably built full glass cannon and whine about dying all the time.
“I am the 17th person in my community playgroup to leave what could’ve been a truly outstanding MMO.”
Congrats! Want a cookie? Your whole post screams of “Waaaaaaah gimme candy or I’m leaving”. Good riddance.
I think your name speaks for itself already. If you’re going to leave then do it. There’s no use crying about elementalist on the forums. Eventually they will get changed, but people will still QQ because this is the high skillcap class. If you dont like it, I hear warriors need like 3 buttons….
Doesn’t really matter in the end who has “a night crew” and who doesn’t because in the overall scheme of things WvW is pretty meaningless. Being #1 will never be a true bragging right unless they do something about server transfers and some other issues.
So you might as well enjoy the great match-up while we have it. Been a great one so far except for the lag / invisible enemies which has been an issue for everyone since the last patch.
Elementalists are fine, ignore the whiners.
Invest some points into water, and get the trait that cleanses conditions everytime you switch to water. You can now remove those pesky poisons, immobilize, etc.
As someone else said, it’s a little easier to solo with dagger / dagger or scepter than staff. With staff it’s a little more tricky to kite stuff around.
When all else fails, use two earth elemental pets to tank everything and then aoe it down.
It’s a month into the game. They’ve already responded and said they’re looking at dagger buffs and downed state buffs possibly.
If the Oct. 7th changes made you quit, then this must be your first MMO.
Yes elementalist might be on the slightly less overpowered side. It’ll get some buffs and bugs fixes. But it will remain the same. The highest skillcap class compared to warrior where you faceroll your way to victory. If you want the “easy” class , this isn’t it.
Dungeons were presented as the “hardest” content in the game, but as long as waypoint zerging remains there’s no way they’ll be able to stop people from rez zerging unless you make the waypoints further and further away which is just annoying.
Agree with what you say, lock the bosses in a room. That’ll stop the pulling bosses out of the room nonsense, and add a challenge to the encounter rather than cheesing. Should they do this, I feel they should lower the boss HP to compensate somewhat. Fighting subject alpha for 10+ minutes would be highly stressful (not saying you couldn’t do it) , but with lower HP you would still have to keep everyone alive.
Not all of the trolling, bashing, etc is necessary…..
Having said that…
Your guild has definately left a bad impression on a lot of people. Most noticably (for me) was when we were losing in last week’s matchup and Novus was saying in map chat how the entire server of Rall couldn’t pvp to save their life. We were all horrible pvp’ers and we should just give up.
Stuff like that leaves a very bad impression for your guild. If this was just once incident it wouldn’t matter. However there’s been quite a few things which stick out in my mind.
As others have said though, saying things on the forums is one thing. Doing things in game is another. If you want respect from the server, earn it.
Notice the name of the first poster :p
Warrior or Ranger
Elementalist in pve is fine. PvP it could use a couple buffs and much needed bug fixes (namely ride the lightning for one).
If you dont want to use all your abilities to be able to pve, then that’s not the fault of the class. You can’t just sit in fire and faceroll your way to victory like you can on a warrior. Yes, it does take more effort. That’s one of the reasons some of us like the class. It’s more complicated AND more challenging and fun.
There are plenty of other classes that are just hit 3 buttons and win.
I agree with the other person. So many elementalists go full glass cannon and complain about dying all the time kitten Yes you lose some damage when you build for defense. But dead people do zero dps….
We seem to have more people transferring over to SoR now…..it’s getting a little ridiculous. They really need to disable WvW for transfers for like a week or something.
At this point, I hope it resets soon and we start losing so all these people who transferred over to just to be on the winning side will leave.
Elite skills for elementalist definately need looked at more than main hand dagger skills.
The pet is great….for pve. For pvp, its mostly worthless.
Tornado is a death sentence most of the time. Limited usefulness.
The sword is fun, but also a death sentence.
Would love this, I’d go even further and allow people to save an armor set as well
I completely agree about the various challenges. The laser field is hilarious and by far one of my favorite parts of any dungeons. I think they could vastly improve trash and make it a little more fun to fight, that I dont disagree with. I do disgree with people being able to skip most of it when using “clever use of game mechanics”. Same for the bosses.
I wasn’t talking about skipping boss mechanics in CoE, nor did I realize that the nerfs to CoE were only for story mode. They dont document changes very well for us to know what they changed.
As I said before, CoE is mostly a great dungeon. However, subject alpha should have only been one path, not all 3.
(edited by Kuthos.9623)
What about CoE? I’ve done all 3 paths multiple times. The hit points and armor of the bosses was already nerfed. Subject alpha is actually one of the most fun fights in the game. It just shouldn’t be in all 3 paths so you’re fighting the same boss. Should have been different bosses.
Trash will -always- “needlessly” delay you. That’s why it’s trash. It’s designed to slow you down, so it’s not just instant bosses all the time. Because there’s no way you can design enough bosses to keep people occupied long enough. Some of the trash is good, such as the golems in CoE that have various effects. And some of it is just annoying and badly designed.
If you dont enjoy the trash, and you don’t enjoy the boss fights then I really have to ask. Why in the world do dungeons? To get armor? And then do what? If you dont enjoy that, then you have dynamic events (which are faceroll with 20 people) or PvP.
Makes it so people can’t mess up…..
So you mean like every other boss with mechanics you have to dodge etc?
That’s kinda the point of those mechanics, that you -can- mess up. Not just faceroll to victory.
But it seems as if I’m talking to people who don’t want a challenge, they just want free loot.
