Okay so, first off I play thief and I know the class and mechanics very well and have spent many hours in WvW. Last night I saw a TC thief from [TSP] The Shipwrecked Pirates attacking a Dolyak, so I bursted him into downed before he could even use a stealth skill. literally 1 second after he was downed he disappeared, and no he didn’t use Shadow Escape or Smoke Bomb, it was an open area. I got no experience or any kill credit whatsoever. A few minutes later he came out of his spawn while I was trying to take a camp and killed me then proceeded to jump on my body and spam /laugh for 5 minutes.

Anyways, did they not fix this thoroughly or did this guy just figure out some way to exploit it? He seemed like the type of person that would have no issue cheating. I sent in a report, but we all know how that goes. Anyone else experienced this since the patch?

When Blackgate gets accused of being a hacking server because a player hacks, or gets called hackgate, you all ask that and say that he entire server can’t be blamed for the decisions of a few bad players. Likewise for spying, example in the thread that was just removed.

Since you don’t enjoy sweeping generalizations, I ask that you respect your own sentiment and not do the same. If you refer to ANY of the past few weeks threads, you’ll see that it is a very small vocal minority that continue to throw kitten around in their words, or stir up some good old troll bait. These select few forum warriors Do NOT represent our community as a whole.

So as I have honored your wishes to not condone sweeping generalizations, I think it would be appropriate for you to do the same. Many of us fight tooth and nail in game and simply come here to compliment or get score updates (especially if you’re a third shift employee like myself) , with a new server in our midst, let’s not give them a bad public opinion about our servers, yeah?

I completely agree with you good sir. It is just that those extremely vocal trolls on these forums week after week from SoR never (not that I have seen) get talked down by other SoR. In fact, some other SoR guilds have joined in the trolling. Not saying BG has been perfect in this manner in by any means, but there are a number of us who try to point out when other BG players are out of line etc.

The delay is frustrating, but I can not believe some of you have the nerve to say Mesmer is broken. I played Hot join for an hour today over 3 different server both teams had at least 2 Mesmers at all times, sometimes more. All playing duelist phantasm, and general illusion spam, all downing many players. I know one person that is rank 40, and he always plays a Mesmer. Sheesh, I will only agree that iZerker is now pretty useless.

Current score… SoR holding onto Stonemist, BG collecting keeps, and a small IoJ presence fighting for territory.

This matchup is getting pretty stale to me. It’s like the same story every week. Good fights happen when the numbers are fairly even, but eventually IoJ and SoR run out of reserves. Blackgate has coverage in all 3 timeslots. The others don’t. Repeat ad nauseum.

Unless something happens population wise, it will probably just continue. I guess you just have to shrug your shoulders at some point, and question the sanity of it all.

No way! Our T1 match-ups did not even come close to the quality fight that we are getting with you guys from SoR and IoJ. Not to mention, good sportsmanship is huge breath of fresh air after T1. I would take this match-up for the next month rather than fight SBI again.

You guys are seriously kicking a dead horse, over, and over again. I think we can all agree that hackers are despised on all 3 servers. There was a male Norn from IoJ flying over a gate last night with no guild tag. So what did we do? We reported and moved on, and i’m sure any from IoJ or SoR that saw him reported him as well.

The fact is that these hacks/exploits will not stop until Anet deals with them directly (like they did with orbs). As for ICoa, they are relatively new to BG and I think that they should have reported a ticket and banned the member that was hacking. It isn’t really good enough to just say that he was warned, he knew what he was doing was wrong. As far as I am concerned, if that is how ICoa rolls most of us would rather not have them on our server. Yes, Even if that means losing a lot of WvW clout.

On WvW: This is such and amazing match-up! Super great fights all around and good sportsmanship from all servers. Much respect to IoJ, SoR, and my fellow BG’ers

Wow, all I can say is that you have no idea how WvW works. More times than I can count, I have gone in WvW with like 4 guild mates and flipped every camp and slayed 8+ dolyaks on the move before countdown ended. Sometimes we even flip a tower if it is unmanned. Or the times where we defended a tower against ~20 invaders?

Not to mention, calling one of your own server guilds trash? Bah despicable attitude really. I will smile really big every time we roll over a SPQR with our “ineffective guild”.

Meanwhile, much respect to IoJ and SoR, seriously rough customers! This match-up is legendary.

I would suggest, spending a couple hours messing around with builds in the mists. You can really get a better idea of what play style you will enjoy. Are you planning on roaming with a small group? By yourself? With a zerg?

I personally play a thief, it fits my play-style perfectly. If you play glass cannon thief though, expect to exploded. Most thieves are actually my easiest targets because I look at them the wrong way and they take 8k damage. Most people who actually know how to play offensive builds and don’t just copy meta, have a balance between damage output and overall scrappiness. I can solo camps easy without using stealth spam. People have finally seemed to be catching on to the idea of balance, but very slowly.

This is definitely a fantastic match up. Thanks to SoR and IoJ for a fun clean match! SoR really bringing it out there right now.

I will be brief and to the point…

I think having to beat Balth is a good DE to open up the option for acquiring shards. However, some servers will go a week or so without having it uncontested, and during events it is often a lost cause trying to get a group to go oust Balth. This is a major bummer for those who are simply waiting to get their shards to complete their legendary (like me right now!). People transferring all over to find an open temple is a little depressing, especially since transfers are fading out.

What about upon a new build/server restart, Balth starts out uncontested. I know it is an extremely simple idea, but I feel it gives some relief to the frustration of waiting.

It is easy to hide in DB if no one does an extremely good sweep. Trust me, it has happened to us a number of times (band-wagoners don’t concern themselves with sweeping).

Unfortunately for you guys at SBI and JQ, seems that the band-wagoners chose you for the flavor of the week… Not that any of us are surprised (blasted free transfers). GL out there everyone, it has been really fun.

What makes you think that JQ is flavor of the week; being 3rd and then 2nd from these match ups? 2nd place with IoJ here? Makes absolutely no sense.

I will tell you we have been trying to fill the gaps. Also, we have been missing a TON of asian players, mainly Chinese players. These players kept WM in check (and I know they are absent atm). No really beat them per say, but made sure WM didn’t run away with the map. We, as a server, have been trying to fill that gap until that blows over….when ever that is. Recruiting doesn’t = bandwagoning.

Going from 3-4 hour ques, when we won 3 times in a row, to 10-15 min ques…Doesn’t sound like bandwagoning to me. Sounds like they left is more like it; which I’m glad.

I can’t speak for SBI’s server.

No need to look that far into it, it was just a guess prediction on what people will do. I hope for your sake that you are right, you will definitely see the drop in community quality if they show up.

Its not a guess for SBI though, I have seen so many new randoms and a distinct drop in community quality/skill.

@Cold I am not going to read that whole post… However, I can tell you I know nothing of that guild, in fact most of us guilds here on BG are not really on that level of speaking terms. All people are saying is that a Screenshot doesn’t = guilt, you say there is more evidence, but again that is your word. If I could find out more info for you, then I would, but I don’t know a single person from that guild, nor does anyone I know.

Also, Anet has specifically asked that you present that stuff in a ticket and they will look into it. Just posting that SS threatens this thread to get closed, because it immediately becomes the main topic.

T2!! I am realllly looking forward to it, hopefully if we make it back up to the top in the future we will have better organization and be prepared better. GG JQ and SBI!

I admire the fight that must be happening between these servers, the RP server, up against a server that was abandoned by a mega alliance, and I actually don’t know anything about CD. But I have some friends on TC and i’m rooting for you guys!

I really think it’s healthy for any BL to have all 3 teams on at it at the same time. It makes things a lot more fun. Let’s face it, while turning a whole map to your color is funny as heck, once it’s done it’s very… * tumbleweed blows past* BORED NOW. For most of this week on jqbl, it’s just been us and SBI. Which, okay, is fine if BG doesn’t have the numbers, but makes for a very boring back and forth.

It’s sort of depressing to be in the middle of a boring match again. Maybe SoS can move up eventually, and provide some more challenge on the map. As for JQ and SBI, well, we’ll be locked in this 1-2 match for a bit, I believe.

Anet went the right way with restricting the server moves to 7-days, but to really continue avoiding matches like this, there needs to be a ’can’t play for X days’ restriction imposed as well. When everyone has moved over to the winning server, it’s often not a question of who has the best players; it’s who has the most players. That’s when the matches get boring and lopsided like this one looks to be, and a lot of JQ’s past matchups have been. zzz… wake me up at reset.

I can’t remember how many times BG (by JQ and SBI community) has been blasted for saying our match against HoD (after emptied) was boring. Now this guy is bored because BG isn’t putting up a good fight in a T1. I have no problem with his points, in fact I agree with him. But no one from SBI or JQ will say anything to him about being bored, because he doesn’t have Blackgate in his sig.

Gotta say, I posted a thread a few days back to hear from SBI and JQ on why there is so much BG hate. It was a common response that we: Trash talked to much, gave ourselves or other servers nicknames, talk about 2v1. Funny thing is I have seen all 3 servers do all those things way too much in this forum. In fact, you will find just as much talk about 2v1 from SBI and JQ than BG. You want people to stop talking about it? Then stop yourselves from talking about it. A natural human response is to defend yourself when attacked, and BG has been attacked non-stop in this forum. Am I saying it is completely without reason? No, some things have needed to be addressed to the bandwagon trash-talkers who I am sure are no longer on BG. But most people in this thread across all 3 servers are all out of line.

You want a source? Just look in this one thread alone! I looked up one SBI poster’s post history (the first and only person I checked) and I have noticed posting in any thread that has the words Blackgate in it… and 16 times in this thread alone. Almost every post insulting Blackgate! Come onnnnn! I have posted quite a few positive posts thanking JQ and SBI for a devastating (and fun) fight, but no one has even seemed to glance twice at it.

This is actually good for us at BG, most of the people giving BG a bad name will hop to a different flavor of the week server soon (likely SBI and JQ, so heads up). We lost a ton of oceanic coverage, which is fine we aren’t ready for T1 at the moment. We were well respected in T2 before we caught the TA fragments and bandwagoners which actually shot us into T1 pre-mature and soiled our community quite a bit.

Let me tell you about the general core of BG. A bunch of medium and a few large sized guilds who are mainly PvX (there are exceptions), no massive alliances. Our most recognized server commander is Choco Eclair (and has been for some time), who often picks up a PuG zerg. I fight hard out there and give it my best in a fight, but I am looking forward to hitting T2 again. We can’t compete on the level with servers as organized and well put together as SBI yet. We are out of our element for the moment. I miss scrappy Blackgate!

This should probably be in the thief class forums, but yeah it would be really deadly… In fact I have made a thief team build that is actually not based on stealth, but is still insane.

Never heard so much QQ from all three servers… My server whines about 2v1 non-stop, JQ and SBI just whine about BG hacking or stacking. Pathetic… They will likely close this thread do to the 85% QQ in every post.

I will address my server, you guys need to buck up. If we get last place (whether they 2v1 or not, IT DOES NOT MATTER), and we fight like hellions against them, we will earn some respect… Learn to be graceful winners and losers.

I play a thief in WvW, I love their game style and sometimes I do feel like a total menace when I explode someone before they can turn off auto-run. But I have been destroyed bad by a number of guardians and warriors, usually because they are Tank+power. Not to mention Mesmers screw me over all the time by knocking me out of SR before I get my stealth. My advice, if you see damage come up from nowhere, dodge roll right away to possibly avoid cloak’ndagger, then start swinging that melee like crazy and use CC.

But honestly, even if they totally nerfed daggers/backstab, it would be fine with me. I only use D/D when I roam by myself or a small number, otherwise its shortbow all the way.

BTW should work on that temper man, balancing takes time, my main is a ranger, so trust me, I know.

What Xeeron said pretty much sums it up. Everyone in tier 1 is acutely aware of the bandwagon jumpers that flock to the new flavor of the week server. I’m not looking forward to their inevitable exodus to SBI.

You can’t control this. You aren’t to blame for the zerg of bad apples into your community. I fully realize there are great guilds and players on every server that just want a challenging fight.

However, you can control the attitude your community exudes. You can make the people who diminish your server’s integrity feel unwelcome. You can even go to the extent of self sabotage in order to get them to leave. It’s extreme, but I personally would rather lose our #1 NA ranking than win alongside exploiters. If necessary I’ll take a week off and PvE or sPvP instead.

Not everyone will share this commitment to a fair match-up. Not everyone will even be aware of poor sportsmanship when it does occur. Still, some guilds or community leaders need to step up and be a voice for fair play, and the extent to which you pursue this has an impact on the perception of your server.

I don’t claim to be privy to the attempts BG made to distance themselves from the zerg that plagued their server and soon will plague SBI. Maybe you guys worked really hard at it and it just didn’t work. Maybe we’re in for a rude awakening this week as we have to contend with the same thing HoD, JQ, and now BG have endured.

Until we get extended (30 day+) lockouts in WvW after transfer, this will be a recurring problem. Still, I don’t think it’s fair to call an entire server unscrupulous. Many times you are a victim of your own success.

I think more vocal leadership from BG guilds will erase the tarnish from your reputation. Orb removal will go a long way to reducing the animosity between servers too since the most blatent hacking (fly mode orb retrieval) just won’t be possible anymore.

You can’t control the cards you were dealt, but you can control how you play them.

Thank you for a well thought out and unbiased response, this is pretty much the model for a response I was hoping for. It seems that what I have taken from this thread, is that us BG’ers should be more verbal on the forums and in our own communities about discouraging exploiting and trash talking in our own community. The Beastgate thing is whatever… All servers will get nicknames, I personally think it makes you sound like a 12 year old when you get all worked up over what a server calls themselves.

SoR just finished a matchup against TC. Tarnished Coast being the unofficial RP server probably has the most original and fun players to compete against. We saw large packs of candy men beating on towers this week in WvW. We saw naked supply camp rushes, as well as other fun quirks. Now of course we saw the occasional alt+f4 downed player and a few thieves exploiting rendering to hold supply camps but I am not about to hold an entire server responsible for the actions of the few.

Your server, however, it is not the few. The abusers of the rendering issues, the downed player quitters, the turtlers, the mesmer portal bomb abuse, it’s all the norm for ‘Beastgate’. The respectable players on your server are the exception, they are the minority.

Even you, OP, condone the acts of turtling/stacking. You will never see anyone on Sanctum of Rall use that tactic because it’s poor sportsmanship. I happen to agree that it’s clever use of game mechanics and not an exploit but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s lame and if you’re going to use it, you’re lame.

By all means if you wish to continue to push the envelope and bend the rules of the game to the extreme do it. But don’t expect the rest of us to herald you as the champion server. It’s like flopping in basketball, yes it works and it will get what you want, but eventually someone is going to hit you in the face with an elbow and the rest of us are going to stand up and cheer.

But see that is the thing, you can look on youtube or cruise forums and find hard evidence of just about every server exploiting/portal bombing, heck we got portal bombed a few times when I was on the other night. And how you can claim to know the whole BG community is beyond me, so I will just dismiss that. And I am not condoning anything from anyone, you missed my whole point… You insulted me for “condoning stacking” and all I said was that it was not an exploit, but a tactic, which you in fact agree with in your post! Sooo… Yeahhhh… Not sure why you even posted that.

Also, SoR has never had to deal with the bandwagon, you guys look like an awesome competitive server from what I have seen and heard, but if these free transfers remain and you rise to the top, you will get unwanted communities joining you making your server look bad.

Yeah I agree with everyone about the fact that is impossible to please everyone, or even the majority most of the time… But, generally I was just looking to see if there was any way to improve cross server relations. And also, if people see posts about how BG is obnoxious and generally rude, then new players or good communities looking for a place to settle (PvX) will be discouraged from joining. Most of us at BG do not want that. We want to get rid of the bandwagon/trolls and gain quality players.

I am from BG day 1, and I really enjoyed our community and the fact that we were a high performing T2 server that had no major alliances, but could still put up a heck of a fight even in PuGs. Now, because Titan Alliance disbanded at HoD and many came to BG a large bandwagon group followed, and I will admit I have seen a pretty big decline in the community for sure.

But here is the thing, there is literally nothing I have personally seen BG do that I have not seen the other servers do, I have reported exploiters from BG, SBI, and JQ this past week. I had a guy from JQ whisper me after he killed me in a 1v1 while trying to do the jump puzzle calling me a noob. I also had a lot of people alt+f4 after losing to me in 1v1 fights from both SBI and JQ (as I am sure many BG’ers did it as well). I had quite a few times where an SBI or JQ would jump on my corpse or /laugh emote after killing me, no big deal, but still just really unnecessary (again I am sure BG is just as guilty).

As far as tactics go, I do not want to get into a debate… But Turtle is a game mechanic tactic, not an exploit. 2v1 (IF it did happen, not saying it did or did not) is also valid tactic and not an exploit of any sort.

My whole point in this post is, why has BG been labelled by many as “that” server, thus becoming the punching bag for criticism when all other servers are equally guilty of these same offenses? And secondly, what can we do (if anything) to change your mind as a community?

It was a great match in my opinion, and incredibly challenging. My thanks goes out to all the SBI and JQ players that had a great attitude throughout. I am looking forward to a rematch!

Blackgate was high tier before we had ANY of these massive WvW guilds decided to transfer to us. We had no super alliance (still don’t), just a ton of smaller guilds, the overall scrappiness of BG is awesome. If/when the huge WvW guilds leave and try to join their next super server, we will be ready as we have been since day 1!

I am BG and I am glad we picked up backup as we move up the ladder. However, after last weeks massacre we have this? It is a bummer for all of us, I don’t want to camp the enemies spawn to see an enemy! But this is how tiers/ladders work I suppose… Still, hope you guys can muster up some players anyways. Well, neither of those skills are related to the Ranger. Mistfire wolf is not very great because they wanted to make sure people who bought the collectors edition did not have an advantage (pay to win) over other players. I think the hounds are great though. There is an answer for you, now this will likely get closed.

You can tell by John’s post that they really have not put any effort to investigating this so far, a 7% damage reduction? Okay yeah that is raw damage, condition damage is where the SB really delivers in addition to that 7%. We have been testing, it is a 20-30% damage overall nerf, if you can’t understand your own game mechanics how are we suppose to believe that this game will ever be even close to balanced? I am not going to compare Ranger to other classes because, well it is incredibly obvious that others excel in every way. You don’t need “data” to see that! The only way I will be fine with this CF nerf is if they address our whole class (all weapons/mechanics/AI/triats), because they are all buried in bugs and nerfs.

I loved ranger in BWE1 all the way up until first huge GS nerf, followed by massive LB nerf, then utility nerf (spirits/sharpenstone), Axes nerfed, a whole wasted trait chain (spirits), nerfed traits (evasive purity), 1 handed sword has always been glitchy, pet AI is laughable, original SB crossfire bleed nerf (the only one I understood), and now finally the SB atk speed nerf. The truly sad thing is, I could go on.

Just look at the response from this one thread, not including all the other threads. We are not happy at the state of our picked and favorite class. We realize it can take some time to address problems, but you have to communicate and take input. Responding with a half researched answer like “its a 7% reduction” is honestly just depressing.

Please address these issues, or at least tell us that you are actively looking into the Ranger class, or that the Ranger is not where you want it to be yet and the team is working on it, etc. etc. I have supported Anet for what like 7 years now? And I am in no way threatening to leave the game or anything, but please don’t let us down!

First, people that are complaining have nothing to do with WoW, stop bringing it up, you are the one comparing everything to WoW. They are Rangers who care about being a viable class in all areas of the game (mostly). Secondly, You obviously have never played sPvP or tPvP on a ranger, anyone who knows anything about PvP will laugh very hard at the OP. As you stated, crossfire bleeding is great, but you cant bleed as much with a slower firing speed can you? Hmmm guess you didn’t think about that… Warrior Rifle now has much more bleeding capability. Don’t know why I even took the time to respond to such an ignorant thread, you are embarrassing yourself.

Although, I do agree that people should not be threatening Anet that they will leave the game etc. etc. Most of us that have played Anet games know they will come around eventually. Just have some patience fellow Rangers, maybe it is a good time to roll another class you wanted to try?
