I’m sure this has been brought up before, but in case it hasn’t here’s my suggestion. Sometimes a player gets used to a certain rotation due to a weapon set or favorite class being used. Then you try something different, but you can’t rearrange the weapon skills so you have to unlearn your muscle memory to learn something new.maybe a certain skill combo doesn’t feel natural and it would make more sense if the order of skills were different?
As far as I know the only way you can address this is setting up new Keybinds through options. Would it be nice to have profiles that you could save and switch between to adjust for? Of course it would be much simpler if could rearrange skills on the bar but that is less likely to happen than this idea.
I think that anything happening is very unlikely, but do you ever find yourself wishing you could rearrange the skills to better suit your needs?
So I’m not a mind reader, and sometimes it seems that being that would help immensely for pugging pvp. All too often it seems we 5 players all have our own strategies for how things should be done with zero communication through chat. Then, when things go downhill, the blaming game starts and I am amused how suddenly communication begins and it becomes obvious everyone had a different idea how things should proceed.
I try not to be part of the problem because I realize I am no PvP expert-pro-sunglass-scarf-wearing thief. My strategies/tactics I believe are the commonly accepted means for rotating points, when to bunker, watching for the back cap, etc… Of course (and most likely) I am wrong. So, I am asking those of you with excessive knowledge to list it here (and just maybe write a guide) for what to do. So, if you have any insights into the intricacies of knowing what to do and when to do it please share.
Some things I think I would like to here:
When to prioritize home vs far.
When to hold a point or let it go
Which point to move to next and what to avoid
Rotations
Points for kills vs capping (I just had a match where one guy said kills win matches not capping?!!?-news to me)
Anything else?
Thanks!
If the weapon was flipped around, dagger animations would need an overhaul just for one weapon. Since the animation uses the underside of the hand to attack (where the dagger blade is currently) so no I think with current animations your suggestion would look even worse.
Upside down daggers? Thieves hold their daggers in a reverse edge in grip, known for defense and greater force when brought downward on the tip (hello Backstab). So they are holding daggers correctly imo given the status of the abilities they give you.
Your post has merit and it makes sense. I thought of that too. There are already daggers in game that face the other way, so it’s not impossible. Reaper of Souls, Severed Dagger, Jormag’s Needle, and Grenth’s Tear are all “upside down daggers”. Note that Reaper of Souls being sickle like and was made to be more appropriate handling. To make the kamas that way is either oversight IMO, or sheer laziness. I know thieves would have been left out, but I think a kama would have been better in the “axe” category for this game rather than daggers because of the animation.
At this point, I really think the dagger orienation bothers me more than the animation. With all the “fancy-dancy”, overly done effects, you are not going to see much. Every time my characters pulls out their weapons tho, it will make me cringe. I know kamas, so maybe that plays into this. But at the end of the day, they are simply wrong. No one I know holds them that way. It’s akin to holding a sword by the wrong end, beating the enemy with the stick end of the hammer, or holding a rifle upside down. It’s just plain stupid for those that know, and I think many of us know kamas.

Corrected spelling of topic.
Is it just me or does those kamas look totally wrong and awkward? I’ve been wanting a pair since launch, now they’re here and ummm…. they just look weird. Don’tg et me wrong, they are completely great looking, but that orientation. These would be an insta-buy for me, but they’re more cringe-worthy than awesome.
thanks, I submitted the support ticket and no reply yet. I’ll let you know what happens.
I’d also like to see the return of the other 1st Halloween skins especially the Deathly Shoulder pads. I had a couple of the human skull ones and several of the avian and bull, but I sold those that 1st Halloween to make early gold. As Danikat pointed out, I thought halloween would be like GW1 and recycle stuff, so I thought the gold is more important and I’ll get them next year. Well we know what happened there.
Since Halloween is right around the corner, I’ve been thinking about thise and thought I bring it up. Every year I think about it after the fact, so this year, I actually remembered ahead of time.
I did the quest for Mad Memories and got the complete edition for the very first GW2 Halloween event. Maybe it was nostalgia, but I really liked that event. This was before skin unlocks via the wardrobe and to save space I deleted the first, non-flaming skin of Mad Memories, but I kept the complete edition. Then came wardrobe unlocks but even though I had the complete edition, the first one was locked. There is no way to get it back except to do the quest again, which hasn’t been available for 4 years.
So ANET, I beg you to either unlock the skin for us for those that have the complete edition (probably simpler) or make the quest available again (probably harder).
Thank you! Found it, but I missed the elemental sprite a few times, was looking for a character with 2 legs.
Just discovered the new activity and completed it in Snowden. I realized I missed her when she was in FG. According to Dulfy, the timer is unknown. Do we know for sure if she will rotate back through the maps yet? I could see it going both ways since the last ones are repeatable but the reward is greater.
What do you define as winning? If it’s fashion wars, then yes this game is very much P2W. If it’s being a superior player in order to beat some game content, then no, it’s not P2W. If you are impatient and skip to end tier content, then yes, I can see how you feel this way, but that’s not true P2W, that is PBII, Paying Because I’m Impatient.
In the end that’s your choice, it’s an avenue players have and it’s not forced upon them.

With the implementation of right click on skill to quick select another (Finally! and TYVM Anet!) I’ve been wondering if giving weapon sets the same treatment would also be desirable.
Now I am NOT suggesting having more than the current two equipped weapon sets. That would still remain. What if you could right click on skill 1 and choose a new mainhand or two-handed weapon from your inventory? If your weapon set used an off hand, you could right click on skill 4 to choose that. Like choosing skills, you could not do this during battle, and the current swap of 2 weapon sets would still be the same.
The benefit of this would save us from opening the inventory screen for those of us who using different weapons for different situations or even weapons with different sigils for different situations.
For example I main a thief in pve. I prefer d/p, staff, and sb. Most of the time my swap sets are d/p & sb. Sometimes I prefer staff over sb. With this setup I could keep my 2 sets as d/p & sb. When I want stfff for some battles, I could right click on skill 1 and select staff. This would replace my equipped sb for the staff in my inventory and move the sb back into inventory. When the battle was over and I wanted the sb again for motility, I could right click again on staff #1 and choose my sb and move my staff back into inventory.
The biggest problem I see with this is that your inventory can quickly fill up with blues and greens that would also fill the choices when you right click on weapons skill. So, there would need to be a way to filter the list. Possible solutions are only account/soul bound weapons show on the list, weapons in certain bags like equipment or invisible, or the user can mark (new functionality) preferred weapons which are the only ones to populate the right click list. Being able to mark preferred utility skills would also be desirable, but that’s a topic for another day.
Thanks for reading, and what are your thoughts? Is this something that would be nice to see some day? What weapon sets would you choose between if you already find yourself popping the equipment screen up to change weapons depending on the situation?
Nothing wrong with Capricorn.
Nothing wrong with Sky Hammer. What is this thread even about anyway? I don’t see any of the OP’s post being relevant to anything that arena-net did wrong.
Arena net did nothing wrong, and nothing is wrong with either Capricorn or Skyhammer. The problem being impatient players wanting their deserving title/reward right now. When they don’t get it they get ticked off, say a lot of crap, and then quit leaving you 3v5. I am suggesting to anet to consider this unfortunate and unintended effect if they consider doing something like this again to a pvp map.
This is ridiculous, but please consider it next time you give title achievements to a pvp map. I just want to play, I don’t care about the title or achievements for the record. Last match, I chose Capricorn because I know everyone else is working on title. Someone chose skyhammer. 1 person. The rest chose Capricorn. Guess where the selector ended up? Yup, Skyhammer. There was so much toxicity that two players (my team) rage quit. This is crazy. So please Anet, if you ever create something like this again, please remember that regrettably the most impatient of players are usually the most toxic.
BS for bloodstone, not what the other
I double click the thing, can hardly see which creature it is, go to a map that has that type of creature and wait in the zerg for about an hour and nothing. I keep clicking the detector and sometimes it spawns one red blob or 4, sometimes there are creatures there, sometimes not. Sometimes the detector shows nothing. I can’t wait forever, so if there is some trick, please let me know. Why can’t the detector ping something in the chat box, like Moa is up next, or Moa is dead on this map, or something? It’s a huge waste of time, and normally I would go do something else, but I want the new shinies….
The amount of QoL updates in this patch is awesome Anet! Thanks! It seems they listened to the community and implemented quite a few. However, it’s a never-ending process and I’m sure more will come some day. So what sort of QoL updates would the community still like to see?
They’re are a couple of more that personally I’d like to see and I’m sure they are on the radar. I would like to bring them back up because IMO, they are very much needed.
First off is some kind of feature that tells the player if they’ve toggled autotargetting and snap ground target on and off. Keybinds are useful and those features are situational. So some times it would be nice to have some sort of indicator of their state.
Second is the keyring. ’Nuff said on that!
Other than that great job!

The Wiki is a wealth of information:
‘To get the Ley Line Glider achievement, you need to get to the Ley Line Overlook point of interest. It doesn’t matter how you get there.’
Looking at the wiki was the first thing I did, btw.
I missed that, because when I read it, it just says: “Glide along ley lines in Dragon’s Stand.” Which is something I thought I did. I don’t see anything about the overlook until I look at the notes at the bottom of the page. I didn’t bother to scroll there and look at notes because I thought what it said about gliding along ley lines pretty straight forward, perhaps the achievement only triggers at that location? If so, either Anet needs to clarify that in their achievement panel because it says nothing about the POI, or it’s a bug?
Thanks! I could have sworn I glided along those before especially at the final meta event. I went to the POI for ley line overlook and got the achievement. It was weird though. It took me several times because I kept missing or falling off the small tunnel. Didn’t get the achievement the 4 or 5 times I tried. Finally made it to the short tunnel, still no achievement, but once I made it to the small ledge directly east of it and hopped up one more then I got the achievement.
Is there a certain ley line to get this achievement through? I have the mastery unlocked and have been gliding along ley lines with and against their direction. I have yet to unlock the achievement and don’t know why. Everyone I ask and everything I read says just find any of the numerous ley lines all over the map and just glide along it, yet still no achievement?
I think they have missed out on a true living world by not using the player’s story to give the players slightly different version of the maps depending on where they are in the story arch. I’d like to see a post Zhaitan version of Orr where one or more of his lieutenant are trying to take power. They could limit it to the 3 Orr maps and it would explain risen on other maps with some slight change of dialog to remove direct references to Zhaitan. I know there are quite a few people who would like to see the old LA map. I really don’t think it would take many changes on ANets part to do it since missions mostly take place in private instances on Central Tyria maps. Tweeks of dialog here and there to avoid references to characters that die in the story on non-changing maps. I think that’s the best way to reuse content.
There could be missions to replace the self-destructed energy probes with ley-line collectors. Since they appear to be an item that could easily be flagged to use one model or another to any given player without having a dedicated post changed map. They could hint at the mission by having ley-line energy coming out of them. The Pact could see them as dangerous and give the mission to replace them. If done right they could explain a reoccurring event on each spot to collect the energy not unlike the ley-line events they have now. There are many ways to adapt content to make it fresh.
I am surprised they haven’t done a summer festival or even a wintersday in summer.
Yep. I’ve been saying this for a while. They did it with old Ascalon in GW1, I’m not sure why it’s such a bizarre concept now.
I liked pre-ascalon in GW1, it was one of my favorites. This is a good idea, but I don’t think they’d want to split the community up like that. That would force newer players into zones without veterans and so far that’s goes against their direction for the community.
It would be nice if they had an Orr update refreshing it with life coming back, but that will most likely never occur. Dreams of a healed Orr will have to remain to our imagination.
I’m still waiting for a full-blown Meatoberfest.
A new festival? Centered around Char culture? Sign me up!
The solution is for the community to remind each other to be patient, enjoy what is there, try be positive (or at least constructive), and remember that no MMO is supposed to be the sole provider of electronic entertainment.
~EW
Like me, you obviously been around awhile. I understand your point, but you over-estimate society. Times have changed a lot over the past 10 years. and the average gamer is not willing to sit around and be patient and won’t endure being reminded of that. You are correct, no MMO is supposed to be the sole provider of electronic entertainment, but that is not what the majority of MMO gamers expect these days. Those days are behind us. Distractions are aplenty and loyalty is scarce. Positive was and is still a good thing, and hopefully remains that way. That was the hope of my “band-aid” to bring something positive to the community. Perhaps my suggestions are unreasonable, but I believe that the current state of MMO gamers has evolved to needing band-aids more so than patience. Personally, I hate the idea too, I just think that’s the reality of the times.
Threads complaining there’s not (fast) enough new content vs threads complaining that there’s not (fast) enough new content AND ANet is covering it up with laziness.
Kittened if they do and kittened if they don’t.
~EW
You misunderstand the purpose of this thread. This thread was not intended as a complaint about “fast” enough new content and/or Anet’s “laziness”. Content droughts are a natural part of any game like GW2. If the time spent developing new content is proportional to the quality of the end product, then they can take all the time they need, provided it’s released. For one, I enjoy the drought too as others have said because I have time to catch up on some things. I do not necessarily look forward to new content from Anet because usually the hype>actual product.
So then what is the point of my thread? My concern is for the community. IMO, there is simple tried & true model they could implement during these unavoidable droughts. There is tons of old content, with old achievements, with old skins, etc just sitting there within GW2. Yes it would take some work, and no I am not a programmer or an expert, but it seems to me that the effort invested now would pay off in the future during these times.
How about the stuff from LS1. I know the whole time-line thing causes some continuity issues. They could bring back for a weekend something like the Tower of Nightmares, or the Marionette battle, or even the Battle for LA. If they are really concerned the average player isn’t smart enough to understand that the special event is something historical, they could flash it really big on the screen or whatever.
Also, if scripting/programming is hugely time consuming and complicated they could do something simple like temporarily increasing the gain of something for the weekend. There are the weekend warriors who don’t/can’t play 24/7 to acquire all the diverse mats/currencies for their legendaries, collections, or progress. Why not, have weekend events, like they have had before, that give temporary boosts to just one of those things. For example this weekend could be double whatever for VB, and next weekend maybe something for WvW, the next weekend double drop rates of something in Ascalonian Catacombs, then next something for PvP folk, and so on.
The point being again is the community. It just seems to me that even though the community is fickle and easily bored it has become stagnant and stagnation leads to this increase in bitterness and there is a wealth of old unused content or special 2 day events that make the stagnation less.
How about weekend events? In GW1 they were there to mostly grind for points for some title. Most had some benefit other than title. GW2 isn’t really set up for that system, true, but they could easily increase drop rates of some special items. Yeah there is an effect on the economy, but it’s only for a couple of days but the community health would improve for longer. If they said: "Hey! Triple drop rates for Black Lion Keys for 48 hours!, I would bet there would be a sudden influx of players for that time period. They wouldn’t really lose anything because 3x 0.000000001% is still really low. However there would be a lot of excitement and I bet it would cause people to spend a little for some extra keys to get those scraps.
I know that this has been suggested many of times, but I don’t know if it’s been officially answered. During these times of drought why not open up some of the older, past content like SAB or Queen’s Gauntlet? The Bazaar of the Four Winds also comes to mind, but the events that lead to Dry Top kind of nixes that.
I also realize that SAB was just released and that seemed to be a big hit. Which kind of proves my point that re-releasing old content during droughts is a plus for the community and thereby for the game too.
I suppose that too much has changed in mechanics to just simply re-release QG without spending some precious dev time and that would explain why it doesn’t happen.
Maybe going forward, as the company evaluates the 4 quarterly release cycle it can look at putting this stuff in between releases? I think that it is a huge bonus for the game. Every time some sort of festival happens whether it’s for holidays or random, I see a lot optimism, thanks, and large chunks of the community getting together to have fun. This is obviously quite contrary to what you see now on the forums. It seems very much a win/win.
For example, something I miss greatly from GW1 that is could be dropped into GW2 is the weekend events. I remember my old guilds planning throughout the week for certain events and when the event happened, cities/outposts would be filled with new players participating in the events. It was great weekend warrior fun and I remember looking forward to quite a few of those profitable events.
TL/DR: The community goes stagnant to bitter during droughts, so why not rehash some temporary content or implement weekend events to bring the community together and infuse some joy? I suspect there would be a lot less kittening. (OK maybe a little )

What to do, is get a popular YouTuber to make this comment while they are recording a stream. Viola! It has more likely chance of happening now!
This is ironic to me as the countless posts I’ve seen prior to raids asking just for this feature. How many times in the forums would you see “What! No raids?” You could search for yourself but the search box is still broken. Now that they are here, people complain about how they’re here? /sigh
I evaluate by which one keeps me awake at night when I play. Thief keeps me the most awake, while staff ele (yes only the staff, otherwise it’s great) puts me to sleep fast. This is for open world PvE too. I think for any other game mode, it’s what I feel most comfortable with.
I know “when it’s ready”.
However, I was under the impression it was spring of 2016. I don’t know why I thought that, maybe saw/heard it somewhere. That is why I’m asking here, did they give a window yet for LS3? Or are we in the middle of LS3 now with these new bandit/ley-line events? I doubt it, but hey, you really never know what Anet has planned do you?
They could somewhat easily implement a new group of “fractals” for this purpose. It would be a limited number of maps that you enter as a party. But by their nature they are instanced maps where Anet could keep the mobs from respawning, so it would be perfect for such a mode.
Uhh, maybe. How long has it taken them to implement 1 new fractal? Two years now? More?
The more I think of it, hard mode/vanquishing in dungeons will really only work with new AI. Mobs are stupid. It would be nice to see some scattering, evading, flanking, more intelligent AI. I thought they were working on that before HoT, (that build a better centaur thing) haven’t really heard if that was actually implemented into HoT.
Since dungeons are supposedly abandoned by dev team and they are “all-hands on deck” for the next xpac. I can’t see them ever implementing this. Shame because I really feel there’s a niche for that with the community and add more difficulty to already existing content.
However, with their track record it would probably be too much a chore for players to bother and very little reward to justify the effort.
Quick answer is yes and no. Yes it will change from zerker, no it will not change to anything other than DPS. This is the whole crutch of Mike O’s vision for GW2, everything is centered around that premise.
It would require a complete overhaul of the game’s content and mechanics and alienating most of the current, semi-loyal population in an effort to please a small subset (me included) that remembers fondly GW1’s glory years.
They’ve tried to implement other roles (druid, ventari-rev) and content (raids) but the emphasis still leans towards stuff that would make a player choose zerker/viper gear over the others. Don’t forget one of their promises for this game was to eliminate the groups looking for only one type of class to complete their party so as to not exclude others. A game that focuses DPS and less on designated roles fulfills that goal better than the traditional approach.
So, in other words, no it will not change.
If you play a class with snap ground target mode on and you have an AoE skill intended to buff yourself in some way it would be nice to target yourself. I know there is kind of a work around by tilting the camera up, or you could turn snap off, or even use the cursor to target yourself, but sometimes those aren’t the best choices. This is not a critical QoL feature, just for convenience. Heck if you can rearrange your UI buttons through an option change due to a Youtuber’s inconvenience, this is something that can be looked at too, right?
Yes. They could easily add these to dungeons but not open world. I really miss the named bosses which added some flair to the lore of the game. Their unique drops and bounty rewards were also nice. I know there are guild bounties, but the flavor gets muddled with all the fancy, shiny effects of a zerg converging on one solitary figure.
Removed as I replaced as a new suggestion, sorry but have meant to do this for some time now.
Huh?
Simple request,
Since the keybinds for toggling auto-targeting and snap ground targets were implemented, I have been using them on and off as needed. They’re situational depending on skill, weapon, game mode, or even character that is being played. The toggling features are awesome and I use them all the time, but sometimes players forget what they are toggled at and can screw things up, especially in PvP or WvW. I’m in the habit now of checking through the menu, but it would be so much simpler if something just popped out on the screen or even the chat window. I would hate to add anything to an already overly-cluttered UI, but maybe a tiny circle that is lit when active and unlit when unactive on top of something already taking up space like skill bar or minimap?
Remember the days you could go to LA or DR and usually find a hero’s banner just sitting there because some overly friendly and awesome guild dropped it to help others? Well, you don’t see those much anymore or I’m just looking in the wrong place. So, is there a defacto location these days people drop banners? I know there are some dropped before major world bosses especially Teq, I’m looking for spots, like before, where people would drop them out of the goodness of their own heart.
Thanks!
From wiki – “Black Lion Chests can be found randomly on enemies or bought from the trading post.”
Expect extremely low drop rates for keys. When Anet nerfed key farming they indicated that the key drop rate would go up. But if you double a drop rate of 0.00000001% don’t expect to notice it.
“0.00000001%” ? That’s far too generous. Go lower, much lower.
Since log in rewards were implemented, I have never had one and I’ve logged in a lot since then. Mostly I get junk.
Anet,
I don’t think you would lose $$, might even generate more $$ due to people’s love to gamble. If you wanted to play it safe then add 1/month, but I’d like to see more (3 maybe). You could substitute for tomes, because I’d bet most of us are swimming in them. It would also get me more motivated to login more often.
Just a suggestion, it most likely will never happen, but hey, I got it off my chest.
Thanks!
Stay tuned, more on their way with LS3!
Proof of heroics were added so that WvW players who wanted to complete their ELITE SPECS didn’t have to do to filthy PVE to do so.
Basically this, and they didn’t want to use badges or honor for the currency because veteran WvW players likely already had a bunch saved up, and that might have given them an edge over players that didn’t WvW much by allowing them to unlock Elite Specs as soon as HoT launched.
Edit: Also, apparently HoT recipes, sigils, and runes are going to be added to the heroics notary vendor in the next patch. Source here.
Well this makes much more sense now, thanks to both for clarifying. The mastery completion thing was obvious, but I didn’t think about the pacing part of it. Also, I know that they can be stored in the wallet (forgot about this part earlier), so that wasn’t my chief complaint. My point was the addition of another currency and if it was really necessary. Now I understand it’s place and see it’s necessity. However, assuming they follow the same model with the next xpac, would then that just add another currency for whatever mastery points they put there too? Is there a point of saturation, where there are too many different currencies?
Getting back into WvW to grind out some badges and discovered the Proof of Heroics. So if I understand this right we now have another WvW exclusive currency on top of Badges, Memories of Battle (more like a crafting component – I know), and Claim Tickets (last seen 2014 btw). This is on top of gold and karma which can both be spent at WvW vendors too. That’s 6 currencies for a pretty small selection of stuff you can buy. I understand the place of Badges as the main WvW currency and Claim Tickets for Tournaments (last seen 2014 btw). I can kind of see the role of Memories of Battle for crafting.
However it seems to me that Proof of Heroics is really not that necessary and their role could easily be covered by lots of Badges. PoH drop often, I already have multiple stacks. I see their usefulness for blueprints and mastery points, but again, why not just spend badges for them instead, do we really need this separate currency?
Can somebody explain to me why we need this as an additional currency? Why not buy the mastery points and/or superior blueprints with badges or even craft them with Memories of Battle? If PoH are needed would it make more sense to add more stuff you could buy with them?
Did I mention there hasn’t been a tournament since 2014? (C’mon Anet! Hint-Hint-Nudge-Nudge-Wink-Wink)I have a weapon collection I’d like to keep working on!
Hi,
I mentioned this on the WvW subforum and got zero replies. (well useful ones that is). This question is more about the limiting factors to craft a legendary than it is about WvW
My question is simple. Are the rates at which Memories of Battle drop severely limited now, forcing more of us players to do WvW?
I haven’t done WvW for over a year and I know that Memories of battle were part of the Rank-up chests. If I understand things correctly, they no longer drop from those and are only rewarded by their new WvW reward track (15/track). I have no previous experience with those so I would estimate that their drop rate is severely limited now in comparison, since it’s so easy to rank-up in WvW. Heck, even looking at the history of Memories of Battle on the TP, there’s been a sharp increase in value since spring patch
In fact if you can only get a Gift of Battle from the reward track once they are out of beta, and if reward tracks are slow to advance in, there would be another limiting factor. This one wouldn’t be as an issue though.
I could be making mountains out of mole-hills, which is why I am asking for input. My issue is that WvW is slow and boring. I don’t look forward to going there and following a commander run circles, chasing his tail while avoiding the big enemy blob. Same for EotM, so far since I’ve started playing again, we are always outnumbered and no real commanders on map. I’m on a good server, but I think my prime time is not their prime time if you know what I mean.
[TL:DR] So do you think that the new drop rates for Memories of Battle will be of great impact on crafting legendaries in the future? Not future legendaries, just those of us who decide to craft later on? If so, wouldn’t it make more sense to have them drop from daily WvW chests like Shards of Glory since they are mirror currencies for different game modes?
.
OK so after doing some reading in patch notes – found nothing. Then did some reading on the wiki page history for Memory of Battle and apparently they were removed from rank-up chests (I know I haven’t received any from my 10 chests). As far as I can tell, you only get 15 per track and tracks are kinda slow unless you hit EotM train (which I thought they were trying to discourage that a year ago)
So can anyone confirm this? If so will that severely limit their availability? If I can get 3-4 rank levels during play, but maybe only 1-2 tiers for reward track that seems like a pretty big difference. Because before if they were “dropping like hotcakes” and now you get the 15/track (which I am sure has a daily cap) it seems battles aren’t so memorable now?
As a guy who just started playing this Borderland map, I have no idea why it’s hated. I am curious, because I’m enjoying it. I’d prefer if they rotated the two every once and awhile. It seems like a pretty detailed and interesting map, I’d hate to see it wasted.
I just started WvW after about a year off. Decided to jump on the new legendary. Needed new mat, so off to WvW. I have no idea how to get them, so I check TP, yup they’re there and somewhat cheap so must be a common drop. However, after playing I am confused as to how to get them, so please help.
After a few hours of boring ol’ roaming (no commander on, so not many on map) I decided to check the wiki. OK, says Rank-Up chests, I had a few of those while playing and only 5 memory of battles so far. On the wiki, under acquisition though, it said WvW reward tracks. Hmmmmmm, that’s interesting, why the difference? So I click the link for Rank-Up chests and the wiki says it drops Proof of Heroics, and Tomes of Knowledge, but no Memory of Battle. There is no link for WvW reward track, because as I understand it, they are new and in “beta”.
So, how the heck do you get these things, Rank-up chests or Reward Track and how much of a grind am I facing, just better to buy off TP? Someone please enlighten me!
OK, I get the idea of obtaining them, but since this is only around for a couple of weeks, and my playtime is very limited, what is the most efficient way of getting baubles?
Thanks!
Agreed. Things can swing the other way. No guarantee though. Things do seem demoralizing at the moment especially since administrative dev teams are in flux atm.
I COMPLETELY agree with OP about those points though. I’ve had the same problems with HoT maps, PvP, and WvW. There’s soooooo much promise but nothing really solid to grasp. Things that were implemented, brought new life into game but either burned out quickly or was implemented in such a boring and uninteresting way.
They try so hard to bring us new stuff (raids), but with the size of their dev teams and things changing, I feel uncertain about how things are going. For me, the biggest help would be more players in HoT maps. I’m trying to finish all that HoT stuff everyone else did, and I just don’t find the successful maps no matter how early I show.
So I guess my question is now: what events do people show up far and about how early? At what points on the timer do I know it’s time to find a map?
I understand the overflow idea. I get the concept is about the same as showing up early for Teq. Like Teq tho, that’s pretty clear cut. You know when he’s going to show.
With HoT, I guess that I don’t know the meta chains well enough to know when (how early) to show up for which events. Specifically clueless about DS, because everytime I enter that map, it’s about to close and I see no one.
VB= Night?
AB=Pylons?
TD=?
DS=?
I went through the maps on all my alts at launch to get their elite spec.. At that time the maps were packed during the window that I play at. Then I created my Rev and just finished all the Tyria masteries. So today, I thought I’d go back to HoT and do the Metas and finish my HoT masteries.
I understand VB pretty well, since I’ve done that so many times, but I was hard pressed to find any active maps, nothing in LFG either. I need to finish my bladed armor, so now I’m not so sure how to go about doing that.
Then off to AB. I’ve done the Pylon meta a couple of times, never done the vine boss. I did find a party through LFG, but the map was uncoordinated and they succeeded more at blaming each other in map chat than they did at pushing the events.
Only done the meta for TD once and that was by luck. I’ve never done the DS meta either.
I’m using Famme’s HoT timers through GW2Navi, and I show up when said events are going on, but it seems no one is home and I’m not seeing anything in LFG. Are these maps still active, or is my timing bad? Any tips are appreciated as to when it’s good to look for these things especially DS meta. I pretty much only play from 9 – 11PM PST.
