Anything i want to say about this topic, would certainly get me an infraction, so i will just say: Therapy!

OMFG… it’s a darn bug fixing. Are you people insane? Or are you ranting just for ranting?
ranting for the fact this patch wasnt that kitten important to kick us all without notice!!
Its not the fact its a bug fix, its the way they go about it!
Sure, that completely wrecked the game immersion into an irreparable state. … 1 minute broke all the players expectations… Why did u that Anet…. WHY????

You should see how hard it is to find some groups in the lower servers (server with low population / tier), to make that assumptions. Some players wait hours to find a group for some content …

I apologize, I overlooked your post. Queue tools, to me, are a band-aid used to artificially create a pool of players to group with. A better option is the “Underflow” idea that is often seen thrown around on the forums. It would fill underpopulated game worlds without automating the process.
I Agree. There a few reasons to stick with low populated servers. A underflow would help in that matter. But i believe LFG do too.
The supply/demand is what creates impact in the game economy. The easy and affordable crafting processes does provides a supply higher than demand, so i don’t find it disturbing.
The only way that crafting could influence the economy is to introduce some recipes with hard to get materials. These would increase the demand and the prices would scale up. However i believe this is not desired, and it’s fine with me. That’s already the purpose of the Mystic Forge. The trolling Zomoros crafting machine!

© Use, or provide others with, any software related to the Game, including any automation software (a.k.a. “bot”) or software designed to change or modify operation of the Game;

As long as you don’t automate features (as bot’s do) there should be no problem at all.
Some mouses needs software (generally supplied with the mouse) to bind keys into the extra buttons. Some players use keyboard changing software to alter the layout of their keyboard for convenience. I believe it’s a matter of judgment:
Will you use that software to create any loop/automation process?
“Why gw2 needs a group finder now.” ?
Because we shouldn’t be forced to use a independent website like GW2LFG.com, to find a party to do any kind of content in the game, and to be able to cross-server grouping!
Nuf said!
Except that you are not forced to use GW2LFG. It is a supplement to the in-game community. I honestly have not used it once and have no trouble playing the game every night. It is up to the player to step out of the single-player element of the game and meet new people. Exactly the same as real life.
You should see how hard it is to find some groups in the lower servers (server with low population / tier), to make that assumptions. Some players wait hours to find a group for some content …

hey some im new to guild wars and could really use someone to show me the ropes im on the Ferguson’s Crossing server and if you have some kind of voice chat that would be awesome so if you can help let me know thanks
That’s what guilds are for!
Sufficed to say, you’ll always get a reliable benefit from +damage. You’ll get a less reliable, though potentially more productive, benefit from +duration. If you feel you have the leeway to allocate some points into +duration, it won’t hurt to do so. But +damage is your bread-and-butter.
Was one of those "+duration"s supposed to be a “+damage”?
Correction on bold. Quite obvious i believe!

Personally I think Necros are overpowered and really fit well into a team in the current meta in WvW. I have 6 level 80s that I play regularly in WvW and I feel Necro is really the one that contributes most to a team. I see alot of bad Necros though. I think people are building them wrong. I can see how people would find them boring, but they are not weak by any stretch of the imagination.
Agree. Necromancers are very good IMO.
WvW – Awesome condition support! Field combos can help a lot! Very good on 1-1. Excellent in shutting down Thieves and Guardians. Excellent defender and overriding the lords buff prior to capture. (With poison combo fields for example)
PvE – Good survival skills, prevents healing with never ending poisons, conditions spammer.
sPvP – (haven’t played with 1 at this game format)
Overall Advantages:
- Condition support;
- Condition damage;
- Good survival skills;
- Very fast character;
Overall disadvantages:
- Lack of burst;
If you use your character for multiple types of play (PvE, sPvP and WvW), i reccomend going condition damage. Condition damage, would make more of burst than duration, which need more time to be effective and can be removed by condition damage while ticking.
So i usually prefer to be more effective (for all the modes).
Condition damage for Bleed, Poison, Confusion and Burn
Condition duration for immobilize, cripple, chilled, weakness and any other condition “effect”.
So… Only if you use it for PvE, the previous calculations from the other topics enter in the equation!
You are comparing 2 different payment methods. 1 time purchase vs membership. Here you can buy a monthly movie ticket for 18 euro and watch…as many movies as you want in that period. Also, entertainment value is subjective. For you 500h of GW2 might be more fun that 10h of movies. But that doesn’t apply to everybody. I could also argue how GW2 is way to expensive compared to a manicure set(because a manicure set provides 24/7 entertainment for ~$10/month). Does that suddenly mean everybody should start complaining about how GW2 is not worth it? Just because I enjoy my nails more than the game and they are cheaper?
I’m forced to disagree with this statement. First of all you can’t compare one type of entertainment with another as they are meant for different purposes. However, you can compare the payment options as a cost factor for the overall entertainment of one activity that is gaming!
Every game that exists, have a “Overall Profit = Entertainment time/Cost ratio”. WoW for example for a lot of players with the current expansions+subscription model has set a very high cost factor and it’s only worth if the game still delivers a lot of entertaining for the players stick to it. However Guild Wars 2, have a cost factor much smaller (as only have to pay expansions). Therefor the Overall profit becomes higher for this game! The longer the time you play this game, the higher the profit will be, and would scale much more than subscription based models (that increases the cost factor every month).
I’ve seen so far in these forums:
- Game is a grind!
- Game lacks grinding!
- Game is very different from GW1
- Game is whole new game, not GW1!
- Game suks!
- Game is awesome!
- The left the game and my sad story!
- New to the game, and fun that it is!
- Jumping puzzles in W3 suks!
- Jumping puzzles in W3 are awesome!
- Progression suks!
- Progression is awesome!
- X class, needs a nerf
- X class, needs a boost!
- Don’t ban exploiters!
- Ban exploiters!
By this i show that players are entitled to their own opinion, but everyone have their history and how they invision this as a perfect game. Many ragequtted the game, and still crawl around in the forums kittening around, just to justify their ragequitting. Lack of consensus is pretty usual in public forums, and this is no different. However there are some topics that everyone agrees and those are the ones that should be looked (Like legendary/precursors, sPvP issues, culling, incorrect skills and so forth). A constructive approach on feedback would be better.
With the inflow of players from the low Tiered servers to the higher ones (due to the fact that the server transfers are not closed yet), the higher tiered servers are always full with players for PvE.
I’ve started an alt and i was surprised with the amount of low level players that I’ve found (actual newbies)!
Some content feels abandoned simply because there is no actual need for them, other than fun. Although fun should be rewarding enough, only a few can say that they repeated the same JP with the same chars just for the pleasure of doing them.
I sure hope that every aspect of the game gets a purpose, including the jumping puzzles. Why not to have somesort of tokens from the JP chests that can access some sort of Gift (legendary craft process)?
This games needs an urgent analysis about the importance/effort/reward of it’s individual designs and i sure hope that the content can include this in the feature.
Jumping puzzles can be so fun (except for the ones who are extremely uncoordinated), and should be a big slice of the last goal of the game, instead of the grinding nightmare that are the 250 T6 mats for the Gifts!!!
Not the “you have no choice but to grind” as seen in other games, but “you have no choice to grind”.
You can grind, just not the same mobs in the same zone. Or you will face DR!
I level a lot of alts in MMOs, and generally, after work, I enjoy just mindlessly killing enemies. I do like that GW2 creates somewhat of a sense of urgency, rushing from event to heart to event…but honestly, some times I’d like to actually be rewarded for just mindlessly killing things.
So do Bots!
I’m not asking for it to be a superior way of leveling compared to events and hearts…but as it is, you may as well just log off since the XP from just killing enemies is so small.
This was created to stop players grinding themselves up to the maximum level, and participate in the events throughout the entire maps! They could give a little more XP honestly with no harm to the desired mechanics. You could use some consumables that increases the xp gain out of mobs death!
… I have a guildmate with an extra dusk and I’ll see if he’s willing to trade it.
Some people really are lucky…

If the Diminishing Return is an Anti-botting measure, what good would it do, if the loot was still the same? It doesn’t make sense.
Care to link that quote for context?
I believe that you can find some of your answers in the wiki:

My main is a warrior lvl 41 iv’e deleted countless upon that level becoming bored of them, warrior godlike in pve, in pvp its like playing a broken class
So far i tried ranger, being forced to use bow makes it a turnoff all other weapon set are just for show and pve,
Elementalist too hard to play like 90000 skills to remember.
Necromancer – just meh
Guardian – not even bothered probably a more kittenty war
Theif – dont understand a thing about iniative. but i like spikes…

So, here is my story. I wanted to do my monthlies to get the mystic coins… But some dev had the great idea to put fractals as a requirement to make me grind a few hours… I hate fractals, but I wanted my reward. So, well, let’s go!
I made a team for level 2. It was hard and glitchy, as I was with some people from US servers and we noticed quite fast that we can’t play together… So, well, I had to recruit other peoples…
After 30 minutes of recruiting, here I was. We rushed the fractals, and 40 minutes later we were killing the boss of the third fractal.
Once the boss had only 20% life left, all my team was kicked from the dungeon and returned to Lion Arch. Our reaction: WTF.
(If you follow me, I have 2/7 of my achievement.)
So we didn’t stop there we did it again, we grinded 3 more fractals and we had the special fourth one. This time, no bug.
(Now I have 6/7 of my achievement.)
So no one wanted to stay so they all left. 6/7, seriously, what am I gonna do? I don’t want to grind 3 more fractals.
Well, I did something very simple. I made a lvl 1 fractal team, we bashed the first fractal, I left. Achievement done.
See now why I feel horrible?
But is it really my fault? I mean, first you invent fractals to push us to grind, then you force us to do those, and then “bad luck” kicks me from the dungeon when the final boss is about to die? No way.
Just this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=6ky6OysXs_I#t=102s
Now you should help a newbies lv1 group trough all of that FotM.
Definitively Party System needs improvement!
- 3/5 to kick
- Kick Offline players option!
…
But the same thing can happen if they were 3 and kicked the other 2. It’s a mean thing to do. Shows their character, no?
fair punishment should not be bank wipe rather the a rollback to the date the exploited was discovered. meaning from that date what did u earn u do all for nothing that is a fair punishment. perm banned should be apply to hackers and botters not mistakes by the developers.
I don’t know if it’s possible to rollback one individual only. If they rollback the entire server that would be a penalty to everyone else, like:
- Monday : Major Exploit has been found and abused by shady player A;
- Tuesday : Claw of Jormag has crapped a dusk to kitten lucky good player B;
- Wednesday : Lets rollback server to deal with players’s A misdeeds;
- Thurdays : Player B just found that he lost his precious, and goes Gollum rage mode with all due right!
^Not a valid solution!

Manipulating the TP is a crime? lol.
If the game have an economy similar to a RL one then:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Market_manipulation
Depends on what you do, don’t it?
I am one of the players that believes that any transgressions to the rules should be dealt accordingly. The recent events have shown that ANet is clearly making a solid stance against all perpetrators that willingly or unwillingly gets unwanted advantages, and although i applaud the effort, i feel also that the baseline for punishing different actions should be revised!
Different actions have different consequences, this is how any judicial system must work and it’s enforcement should be always the least harsh as possible. Stealing an apple should have a different consequence than a homicide. Two crimes still. Also, the first, can have mitigating factors that should not be forgotten (he could be starving). This small analogy was made to make my point that the transgressions should be punished, although with different categories.
ANet has it’s share of guilt in the process. I agree that more testing should be done, and with such amount of content each month being released, i believe that sometimes, somethings may be overlooked. Having aTesting Server for the general population could be one way of putting, although i don’t know also if the exploits found wouldn’t be hided and brought into the normal ones.
So, how to penalize someone breaking the rules? Let’s again make an analogy with RL.
There are fines. If someone got the hands illicitly on gold, they should pay a fine (gold and duration accordingly, instantly or over time, small or big amount).
There are Restriction orders. These would translate as restrictions. Restricting a player from joining WvW, Dungeons and sPvP could be a way as OP said, of enforcing a penalty.
There is jail. This would translate as bans, in duration proportionally to the type of transgression made:
. Hacking – Perma Ban;
. Botters, RMT – Perma Bans;
. Exploiting – Timed Bans and/or higher fines;
. Cheating – Timed Bans and/or higher fines;
. Bad Conduct – Small Time Bans and/or fines;
Having a strong judicial system would make the player base more stable, as there is a good virtual world laws to play with!
(edited by LHound.8964)
This is a very interesting screenshot about ANET’s stance on it at the time it was occurring.
Seen it before. And?
Let me see… An ANet developer is making the earrings…
.1 – For wear them cause they are good and pretty?
.2 – The abuse the exploit? … (Why would a dev exploit in their own game, when there is game commands for mods and devs that can make items like in every MMO).
.3 – To assess the situation, and to have grounds to rule on this subject?
…
A lot of possibilities can arise. Nowhere in that picture he said that he exploited. Subjective opinions due to the problem involved is what making people undoubtedly accuse Staff on bad actions, when actually there were no proofs of that!!!
Innocent until proven guilty, and that’s a really blind shot!!!
If somebody made 500g with this (which I sincerely doubt), I say good for him! He made the most of a limited time opportunity before the market had time to react. That is called being ahead of the curve, or in other words, smart. Even without intervention the markets were catching up to make the opportunity unprofitable. How is this any different than buying something low before the market reacts and prices rise? I see no exploit.
That would be 100% truth if the gain wasn’t made by a faulty recipe!
A+B → 3A + B isn’t right!!! This is the problem!
(edited by LHound.8964)
Ectoplasms price may only have been reduced by 4s, but that’s not the problem. Players that got tons of gold could influenciate other market trends. Let’s assume, that 30% of that exploiting players went to buy dusk. Dusk price surely would rice a lot more than 4s, and created a bigger baseline to Dusk price, making even more far to buy for the general population. Suplly Demand.
This was a simple offer/demand exercise that shows that one thing can be linked to another, but that’s not the point, isn’t it?Players did NOT get tons of gold from this, and certainly not more than you can get by playing the tp normally. Furthermore the gold ALL CAME FROM OTHER PLAYERS buying ectoplasms. There was no gold actually created, and no inflation. And you have no idea what you are talking about if you think precursors were influenced by people making 25g off of this piddly opportunity.
Or did it suddenly become illegal to introduce new items into the market place? Better not kill that moa, he might drop a slab of poultry that wasn’t in the game before! Get real. This “exploit” was completely harmless.
Yet, still an exploit! Even if it was an exploit that gave 1 copper / year it deserves a Perma BAN. EULA clearly states (for the ones that care to read it):
You acknowledge that You may not, without signed written consent from a legally authorized representative of NCsoft, do any of the following: … (d) Use, or provide others with, any “hack,” “cheat,” “exploit” or “mod”;Well done Anet… +9000!!!
Note I put “exploit” in quotations. As in, it’s not an exploit? Your EULA quote certainly shows that exploits aren’t allowed, but what defines this as an exploit? New ectoplasms being created? They’re created every day whenever somebody finds a yellow! A small capped surge in supply like this doesn’t strike me as exploitative in the least.
The first was an exercise to explain on how market prices of another item (not only precursors, although it was the example used) could be influenced by these players. Never sayd it did.. Also, some players made 25g. Other made less others made more…
The definition of an exploit is very clear. Abusing a feature to earn somesort of an advantage. If some players during all the game life, have only made 100g, and within 2 days, made 400g, wouldn’t you think that something was fishy here?
I remember one player that said that he had made 500+ gold till he get bored. Honestly don’t know the average gold gain per player trough this abuse, but they probably have quantified it and ruled a ban for the perpetrators. !
So, when should I expect bans for:
- everybody who ever hit the last seal in fotm with a char skill
- everybody who ever used a mesmer portal in a JP
- every thief who uses stealth in WvWvW
- everybody who picks the rich ori node without killing the karka champ
- everybody who did the back jump in the dredge fractal
- everybody who stood in the safe spot for the first 2 bosses in Arah p3
- everybody who pulled the dredge boss in fotm in the next room
- everybody who ever blinked through a wall/over a hole
Do I have to go on or are you already on the list?Would maybe you have an answer to that question? 2 didn’t deliver till now and I would really like to meet the one person in GW2 who never exploited a single thing.
That list isn’t a list of bannable offenses.
Portal, Stealth, Ori Nodes, are not exploits, don’t be dumb please. They could be used in exploiting/Hacking? Sure! In the same manner, producing that Jewelry was not an exploit. Glob looping was…
But if you want a clear answer i can say, yes. If a player was abusing a certain feature to gain somesort of an advantage, they should be banned, except if they were forced to do it (as in thieves stealth culling). ANet simply rules that they were no harm to the game and deemed it ban-free!
Tell me, what has this “huge” influx of ectoplasms done to harm the economy or the game. Oh noes, ectoplasms got 4s cheaper, the game will surely collapse! If anything it provided well needed relief for a sorely undersupplied item.

Well done Anet… +9000!!!
Oh nooo…. A positive thread… Heresy!!! ……. /sarcasm
I agree. This forum seems to be a giant toilet; people are constantly kittenting in it. Most of the problems are not mechanic based, just subjective opinions. Instead of theorycrafting and practice, some players feel that the game should play for them.
^ This. Bold on the key points. Lets all be more optimistic with the new year!!!
This is my opinion; I do not think Revive Orbs should be in the store for purchase. Its a game breaking item. It allows you to do stuff that you could not otherwise do. Get to places you should not be able to, or get past mechanics like agony and so on. This is not a cosmetic item or something along the lines of character, inventory or bank slots. This item leads to unforeseen and unintended game play results and situations. I feel that any tactic that involves the use of these is cheap.
If Anet wants to keep it then they should make these obtainable at reasonable cost from a vendor.
Care to throw in an argument in why is that a game-breaking item? I fail to see your point, as it was already stated that is a PvE only item…
So En Masse killed Tera…. guess I should have stayed on the KR server i was on =/
Looking at coming back…. free upgrade to collectors? Is there a way to buy it for like 10 bucks more?
We drove 2 hours to the nearest city to get this game awhile ago, didn’t hold my boyfriend’s or my attention. If i wasn’t recently laid off we’d probably buy it again but we can’t. >.< Nothing sucks more than getting laid off right before Christmas.
What’s fun to do in this game, didn’t get very far last time I played cause Tera wasn’t dead yet.
Any fun costumes? I LOVE dressing up all my toons.
Gw2 is a lot of visual. All exotics are similar, but with different looks. There a lot of dyes for you to get. This part is remarkable.
Gw2 has a lot of side-stories imbued into the Dynamic events.
But why did you quit for the 1st time? Anything that bugged you or just Tera?
Similar thread:
It is not Jormag!
The thread title says Jormag. … want to elaborate?
Good for you that you like to help lowbies in the lowbie zones. Be aware that it gives almost nothing. It’s better to play the TP.
See… i used your logic!
I’m not saying that Jormag is always a gold mine. Nor i am saying that the precursors drops a lot of the times. But if you are intending to play the game just for gold, then Jormag is not for you. If you by chance do like to kill the dragons, then the drops are insignificant.
I’m saying that the chance of them dropping a precursor is so slim that your time is better off spent playing the TP, and that what you saw was a very rare occurrence.
I agree that the drop chance is very low. But i don’t kill the dragon with the hope that it drops. I kill it for the fun of slaying a dragon. Getting some loot/silver while doing it and maybe some yellows to salvage for globs. If the precursor drops, awesome. If not, tomorrow is another day.
I play the game to have fun, not the greedy game. Don’t be greedy or u become the scrooge. Don’t forget of the ghosts of the christmas past/present and future :p
If anyone thinks the population is growing/ solid they are deluded
The population is decreasing to the normal values. The initial Hype brought a lot of people to play the game that honestly thought that this was the fulfillment of their dreams, that had everything they ever dreamed.
Aside from those that didn’t like the game and left and the doomsday sayers that don’t like it and yet lurch around in the forums, the ones who stays (there are a lot), are solidifying their interest in GW2.
The game is becoming better everyday! Every new update brings it closer to an awesome game.
That is extremely rare; in all 50+ events I’ve attended, I’ve only ever seen someone once get an exotic which was ALSO a precursor [Dusk]. Generally we instead saw people celebrating exceptional lodestone drops or getting a rare from the chest. Thats just how pathetic the chests were.
So a chest of a dragon that spawns a lot of times a day with loot for everyone, that can also drops precursors…
…what do you expected? 5 free exotics per day? I simply can’t see the logic!
This game have so many small stories incredibly fun. Like the “Quaggan wants to be a pirate.” The problem is everyone still have that MMoRPG moto: “Have the best to beat the rest”, rush to get things and forgets to enjoy the content of the game.
Endgame content? The whole game
Yesterday a [Dusk] was in that reward chest to a guild friend of mine.
The day before, [The Legend] was in the reward chest of some guy/girl.
So… don’t understand why do you say they are useless…
I don’t get why Kill Shot has to hit so hard. I have 3,200 armor and I’ve been blasted for 12k~ by one before.
Because it’s the “Kill shot”. Less than 8k should be renamed as the “Scratch shot”! /sarcasm
I’m sure it’s fine… Lol
I use blood and it was different than Autumn.
Any New change? Going to check it now…
EDIT: Nope, still different. Autumn is a little more lighter (to brown) than Blood.

Precursor Weapons can be acquired from some sources:
- Dragon Chests after killing them (The Shatterer, Claw of Jormag and Tequatl the Sunless);
- Capturing the Temples in Orr;
- Completing rewards from maps [x to 80];
- Explorer Dungeon Reward Chests;
- Mystic Forge (4 weapons of the same type lv75 or more).These days I’ve seen an increase of Precursors from these sources. I recommend that you make them everyday to increase your chances.
Acquired is the wrong word here IMO. More suitable would be RNGed. I must have had a really bad luck because the only time i got something other than blue from a chest was during Lost Shores event.
Also I have yet to see ANY exotic reward for map completion below last 3 zones.
Your luck must be kitten
Acquired depending on luck as in every other chest. I though it was implied…
The [70-80], [75-80] and [80-80] zones can give Exotic rewards. More than one also. It’s a matter of luck tbh.
RNG is good in games up to some extent.
Since the primordial times of games (even board ones with dice roles), Luck and chance were always paired to have a more interesting gaming experience. What’s the point on counting always on the same thing over and over? Becomes dull.
The trick is defining what should be on RNG and what should be certain? What are the minimum probabilities for a RNG check? What can influence the odds? These are the true questions, not the “Why RNG?” and “Where’s my luck?”…
ive had 30k on other frenzied rifle warriors several times before. the funny ones are the piercing shots that do like 50k+ dmg to a fresh pile of portal bombers.
also ive had a volley or two do 18-22k. yeah its as balanced as it sounds.
WTF?
Nerf Thief ASAP
Best advice on making a solid amount of gold:
- Don’t spend it on useless things!
