The encounter won’t get harder, the difficulty stays about the same, no matter how many people are there. That is proper scaling. It won’t be downscaled or upscaled in difficulty. The difficulty stays the same, the boss just adapts to the amount of players.
That is proper scaling. It doesn’t matter if you start out with 20 people and in the end there are 100 running around, the odds to beat the encounter are the same at any point.
This is incredibly hard to achieve. You can’t scale the encounter proportionally. If you scale it by Defense/Offense, the Boss will be a bore to kill (similar to some bosses you already have) and they will 1-hit a targeted random player (like it happened a while ago).
There is a limit in what can and can’t be done regarding scaling possibilities. I would rather start introducing boss mechanics and debuffs to the players in the affected areas than scaling proportionally.
Are you absolutely sure of that?
I’m pretty sure I have done this with a white item…..as long as you select the white item STATS, the other 2 items (skin and sigil) will transfer over and you will have an account bound white level item with the skin and sigil of the original item.
You then have to transmute the with an item of new stats onto the white item (obviously with the character you were moving the item to).
If I’m missing something here, please enlighten me. Before the OP does anything, please read this wiki page: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Transmutation
err…you are correct. Just tested it out…
I wonder why the heck i came to think on that thou…
/edited reply and thanks for pointing it out!
You don’t have enough to buy a legendary, unless you’re going for the worthless underwater ones.
Save up and wait for precursor crafting
I resent that Vol… i crafted a legendary Trident and i am pretty happy with my choice. Nothing to do about the gold/precursors/lodestones, i simply prefer the trident!…
A legendary UW is as worthless as a non-UW Legendary weapon…
/cheers
Ok so I have around 1000 gold, about 70 of each t6 mat, 2million karma, and around 300 ectos. Should I try crafting the legendary or just make money and buy off TP. Which way would be the quickest to get the legendary.
1) Make a list of materials involved in the legendary you want to make/buy.
2) Go to GW2Spidy and start checking the cost per unit of material.
3) Sum everything and evaluate the cost.
4) Consider the time to obtain the rest of the items to the crafting procedure.
5) Compare and decide.
;)
This, right after a post detailing that the stat difference is 10.3%, not 5%. Epic fail.
The stat difference is between 5% – 10% give or take a bit here and there.
the 10.3% quoted is when using bezerker armor and only when you hit does a crit.
If you use a different armor set one that doesnt have power as primary your damage increase will by much less also with bezerker armor if you dont crit the increase is 7.5%That 10.3% is the theoretical maximum of the maximum.
Agree.
10.3% was obtained when under perfect conditions and with a lot of assumptions. In WvW where the PTV armor is widely used, the damage increase should be way less!

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Exotic-Vs-Currently-Available-Ascended/first
I have to double check some numbers, but it looks fairly appropriate.
That’s a big fallacy right there. Tequatl don’t provide anything that’s entirely exclusive that isn’t provided anywhere else. To a person who already holds two crafted ascended weapons how can he receive +10% from tequatl? It’s entirely cosmetic.
I believe your problem lies in the “Exotic vs Ascended”. It has nothing to do with tequatl!
Mainly cosmetic? It is better. If you go DD, you have an advantage of roughly 10% with just the existing items.
10% is cosmetic?
Care to explain that 10%?
Can’t understand what you trying to say very clearly…
- Are you saying that players that puts a lot of effort into obtaining things should receive the same things than those who don’t give a crap and do absolutely nothing?
- Are you saying that those who works to be the best, training, repeating when failing, should be rewarded in equal manner as those you are slackers?
Make no mistake, i’m no hardcore player (mostly play 1-2 days per week), but i admit with the current effort i make in the game, i’m not entitled to have the same things as those who put more effort into the game in the same timeframe.

Eurogamer: How are you handling endgame loot – will we be farming bosses?
Colin Johanson: Everyone, including casual gamers, by level 80 should have the best statistical loot in the game. We want everyone on an equal power base. The rare stuff becomes the really awesome looking armours. It’s all about collecting the unique looking stuff and collecting all the other rare collectable items in the game: armour pieces, potentially different potions – a lot of that is still up in the air and we’ll finalise a lot of those reward systems as we get closer to release. And those come off of things like the bosses at the end of dungeons – the raids…
This is where I am coming from, this is what I want to say
Then you missed my point entirely…
I never said that they should receive nothing if they work to get it. If I don’t go to fractals i can’t expect to get Fractal weapons. If i don’t go to Arah i can’t expect to get the Arah gear and if i don’t coordinate in tequatl i can’t expect to get tequatl down!
OK, everyone even the casual get the best stats gear. And the most difficult content is in dungeons for cosmetic items.
You don’t need to do tequatl to get the best stats gear! It’s mainly cosmetics…
Or you work for it or don’t. Don’t expect the same in either case!

Guys,
If I transmute an Exotic weapon with Sigil onto a Blue/White weapon, will it still be account bound ? I would like to transfer the weapon skin + sigil to another alternate.
Can this be done?
It canbe done!
Weapon Transmuting will cross the three following weapon properties:
1) Stats
+
2) Weapon Skin
+
3) Sigil(if any)
So you can move skin+sigil!
Transmutting will keep the item account bound (don’t know however if it even make it soulbound).

TL.DR : If you don’t care enough to make a small effort in coordination, you deserve to fail! Work for success!
/cheers
That sounds exactly like the arguments from WoW. If you put not enough work into the best gear, you do not deserve the best gear.
If you do not put enough effort into the content, you do not deserve to beat it.Work for success, just playing the game is not enough.
Listen to yourself.
Can’t understand what you trying to say very clearly…

… It doesn’t change the fact that something simple got made needlessly complex for no reason whatsoever, and any normal person will just swap brands and use one that works like it normally would. This is what happened to Tequatl.
^ And this is the problem around all Gw2 content…
Players want things made more simple and players want things made more complex.
Players want things made easier and players want things made harder.
If a player don’t care enough to make an effort into the provided content then it shouldn’t be allowed to succeed! And the effort is -> Coordination!
I don’t raid Tequatl as i don’t care about it anymore, but i already succeed and it was needed only a small coordination from those who knows how to lead the raid! No guild, no voip, just plain old “how2Play” stuff. Now, that’s no big secret that joining a specific guild and a specific voip helps a lot in terms in coordination, and due to gw2 unique multi-guild system it’s a lot easier.
TL.DR : If you don’t care enough to make a small effort in coordination, you deserve to fail! Work for success!

The WvW communities of the T1 servers are also blameless. For example, Ive been on Piken Sq. from day one (when we were a low ranked server) and now we’re T1. The WvW community here has been trying to discourage transfers explaining we have long queues for some time now.
However, the recent queue problems are unlikely to be due to transfers, but rather the new WvW achievements. PvE players are now doing more WVW as a result.
It is not their fault. They probably have been on your server just as long as you! They have an equal right to all aspects of the game.
The fault lies with ANet for introducing additional incentives at the same time as leagues.. they need to increase server capacity or introduce these overflow maps asap. Of course, these problems could die down over the next few weeks as the PvE players decide whether WvW is good for them… here’s hoping.
You are understanding things quite in the wrong way…
It’s not because they are PvE players or the time they are in the server, but rather how they perform in WvW. High tiered matches highly relies on the capacity of the server to work as a well oiled machine, following orders from seasoned commanders without questioning. Being in a Voip help the organization too.
Now, i would welcome PvE players (who also probably have better gear than the rest) to the WvW if they abide to this mindset. The work and the effort we have be putting into the wv3 this past months is being ruined because a personal agenda due to the achievement completion rush.
If “soldiers” who follows orders and whose value is detrimental to the WvW panorama is being left in the queue because some players that have a personal agenda and don’t care about the rest, nor follow orders are inside, what do you think the Wv3 community is going to feel? Enjoyment or Rage?
It’s not a personal attack to the PvE players personally, but rather to their mindset while playing other game styles other than theirs.

Mercury, aren’t you confusing things?
Rabid weapons gives exactly : “Condition Damage” as major, “Precision” and “Toughness” as minor stats.
Rabid weapons can be obtainable trough several dungeons (TA for example @ http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Valiant_Saeraquel).

Yes…
“The disable the use of most skills” part. You can still use all skills while immobilized including healing skills, which don’t happens under control effects.

Photoshopped……
to be fair, it don’t looks like it has been photoshopped…
Have you took a screenshot ?
Class balance to me is of two things:
1) when any 2 classes meet 1v1, each has an equal chance of winning.
2) each class is unique. …^this is not balance.
We can’t expect every single class to have an equally chance of winning. Several builds are suited to beat/counter some other builds, although some may disagree… Like the old “hey i was running a zerker build and i was pwnd in 3 hits – nerf pls…”
Balance to me is that every class, with the appropriate set of builds can counter every other class builds when 1-1. Also, the survival and killing speed should be symmetric. (classes that can survive to 3 players hitting, shouldn’t be able to kill all the 3 easilly and vice versa!!!)…
That Zerker will be 3-hit, but equally, he can 3 hit his opponent. That’s what I meant by an ‘equal’ chance. A rock paper scissors style of combat is a type of balance but I my opinion bad game design. It’s not fun knowing that your enemy beat you not because he was better, but because he simply had a build that countered yours.
I can’t agree with you. A Paper Rock Scissors kind of balance is the best way to deal with multitude of builds. Either that or remove the entire trait system from the global system, because traits are meant to unbalance the class in favor of certain skills, effects, class specifics.
If i with my build beat the crap out of 3 classes, loose against other 3 classes and have a tie with another, it’s fine, as long as if i change my build i could beat the same classes who have previously won.
The problem with balancing, is that we take 2 or 3 classes, and they are above all else, with the same build (i remember the old D/D elementalist)…
It’s hard to find the right dose of balancing for every single class that works wells with the rest.

What’s the staff level?
If you do the math using the calculators, statistically the difference on a berserker gear (weapon + trinkets) ascended vs exotics is ~ 6%. in Condition gears the difference is way less!
IMO the difference is quite neglectable for the rage we see in the forums towards Ascended gear (i have full exotics and i do just fine).
I’m more worried about players don’t using any consumables that boosts way more the damage than the said gears!
/cheers
That math is wrong unless you’re using old numbers (ie before the weapons) and with ascended armor around the corner (it’s been data mined) full ascend vs exo disparity is going to increase further to approx 20%
Can you provide a link with the math that sustains your claim?
But not for PvE really right? Since Beserker gear is king.. and I believe (generally) phantasm builds are best for PvE? The iWarlock isn’t very strong.. as far as I know.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/List-Find-your-Mesmer-Builds-Guides/first
You can find ^there a solid list of mesmer builds with staff. Some for PvE.
/cheers
I can only support this, if it’s possible to dodge roll on the living room and it mimics to the game!

errr…. i would tell you Mesmer…

Usually PvE players that tries PvP accepts quite easily the defeat. It’s usually PvP players that rages about other classes being more OP than others…
Well this way when i beat the Mummy, i feel like ol’ “Ricochet” O’Conell!!!
Gamers, as practically any other human being is greedy by nature. They always try to hoard more than they need and the fun fact is that they always want more. Greed however isn’t the right term for the argument OP is trying to make.
For me being a gamer for so long, i witnessed the difference between the early MMO’s and the newest MMO’s, and their capacity to make the players busy. The need for an expansion was always pushed by the inability the game have to provide it’s gamers with content to make them busy.
Gw2 have a different paradigm as it provides faster ways of players fulfilling their needs and to complete their objectives. Without the slower and richer content, players fall into the loop of content, without gaining any advantage other than wealth and self satisfaction. Taking this into consideration, ANet introduced a 2-week content refresh by the mean of Living world updates, minimizing the loop as long players participate.
This game is excellent in terms of short term goals, and very weak in terms of long term ones. Introducing some long term goals would definitively cause the grind-to-get sensation that players are already experimenting with the legendary weapon making process.
There is a catch. With regular 2-week updates there is also a extremely high expectancy of the general population that it would cater their needs, making players rage specially because more bugs exists (less time to test) than a regular expansion.
So to sum up,
Are we spoiled to ask the company for give more effort into the content they release? Yes we are.
Should we be?
No. The current paradigm forces this behavior thou. Ultimately the fault is at ANet’s side, as they released that manifesto, pushing the whole range of gamers (hardcore, causal, long-term objective players, short-term ones, PvE, sPvP competitive players, worldPVP, etc…)
They should create a new Manifesto with concise objectives to 2013!
/cheers
Thats Great! Looking very much forward to it!
Hopefully there are some sort of objectives beside getting wxp.
WvW has become so repetitive and with lacking objectives, that actual fun is enough for me as a reward for this new map
Didn’t they say they would accomodate “GvG” in Obsidian Sanctum?
if you are in a Euro server pm me and i’ll help you with my Mesmer.
PS: I just love the name of this zone. There is so much trivia in this game it’s actually nice to keep finding them out: This location is named after Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoyevsky.
a random handicap?
Would the same 3 servers be facing each others in this new map? Or will be random servers?
What happens if server A have queues for the capacity of 2 overflows and server B and C only for 1 overflow?
/cheers
Follow the current thread Berelious : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/New-Borderland-Map-coming
I must wonder how many players may end up preferring this map over the borderlands, especially if wxp is easier to farm there.
With that Blog post, i can see sky areas, bridges… i care less about WXP as long as it is fun
… “Mojo is Rising”
That’s such a waste of a perfectly good map… why have it overflow only? Will we even be able to join it if there’s no queue..
yes.
I hope it doesn’t only include T1 feedback otherwise we are just going to see more zerg meta.
This is a bad azzumption. A lot of players in T1 really hate Zerg fests, including myself. However, if that’s the game way of offering you Lemons, then make a lemonade.
The GW2 hub guy on reddit is saying "this map will generate regardless of “overflow”. It’ll be selectable like any other."
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1opmta/wvw_the_edge_of_the_mists_press_audio/
My deduction was correct.
I would love to know a timeframe for this implementation
To be fair, they will probably create that said map to every server, including overflow servers. With this kind of approach, players could play in normal servers and when they are in overflow servers.
Hope there’s an option for non queued servers to try out the new map. I don’t think that T1 should be the only opinion heard. Would be better if you randomly got assigned a color when your guild entered the map.
Now that you mention, if this is only available to those who are in higher tiers, then if the new borderland is fun enough, we will witness another mass exodus from those servers who are already with their WvW community hanged by a thread…
No need to push something that will not be true. You would be crazy to think they would restrict content to specific servers. This is how rumors start and people get all angry over nothing.
Just a honest concern, not trying to spread an unfounded rumor.

Most servers can’t fill four maps, why do we need a fifth?
Because there are servers with queues to fill eight :p
Nice find Vol.
I’ll leave this quote that i consider a excelent progress from ANet!
Surprisingly, there isn’t going to be an NDA on this new borderland making this one of the first publicly collaborative endeavours that ArenaNet have done.
That helmet is superb
keep the good work!
Seriously stop. There is no zerg problem. People zerg if they want to do it. They enjoy large scale fights. If you are not one of them, then roam.
Although i understand what you are saying, actually there is a zerg problem. The AoE limit, the lack of few ppl objectives, the WXp as said, the zerg friendly system it all incentive zerging. Obviously it’s optional, you can zerg if you want…
i know what you mean, a small +incoming damage debuff if you’re stacking…
Exactly my point.
If you catch a cold, the last place your friends want to be is near you (in what regards health matters only, ofc )
i threw this idea while back, but i don’t ANET is going to listen to this…
If they indeed want to solve zerging issues, they should look from all angles. I don’t say this is the best solution, but it’s one worth exploring.
It’s impossible to do at this moment.
You can’t pass from a free to play model to a subscription model. If you are granted access to BLT items for a small fee (like a sub fee of 15$), what would stop you from paying 1 month, getting the items you want then stop paying?
I sometimes find amusing the very own definition of DPS, and the effort players makes to get the highest DPS. In this game i believe players should be looking at a Dp10s instead of DPS. It’s funny how some Berserker players (mostly Warriors) bursts in the first 5 seconds and stays downed in the following 5s…
Tonight i had an epiphany…
What if we added a new condition to the gameplay or substitute one of the existent (like torment) with a condition named “Contagion”.
“Contagion” would deal damage per stack and pass to other teammates within a certain “small” radius (centered on the affected player). The damage would be similar to “Agony” by health pool %!
What would you think about this idea?
EDIT: This shouldn’t be to hard to achieve as a similar mechanic exists already in the Fire Shaman Fractal boss (catch on fire if too close to a burning party player)…
(edited by LHound.8964)
I always loved the Necro + Guardian combo. Specially when he pulled all the mobs into himself and i just spam Marks, Wells and Combo Fields (Poison and Darkness)…

…Meanwhile we still have stuff like the No.3 skill on Thief Pistol and Dagger with no offhand which just boggle my mind why they are there in the first place.
I lol’d… this is so true…
