Double the precursor drop rate

The precursor changes have to happen one way or another!

- If they release the long waited “Precursor Scavenger hunt” then the Precursor drops will get lower.
- If they increase the Precursor drop rate, their prices will get lower!
- To sum up: Any form of increasing the availability of the Precursor will undoubtedly reduce their market value.

The trick is how to increase their availability without decreasing their gem selling revenue?
- One way is to revamp the whole process of crafting a legendary! However, doing this, could be unfair to those who are already doing theirs to those who already got them.

But one thing i agree, relying on precursors to get revenue out of gems is poor economics!

500 AP for GW1 Hall of Monuments Intended?

Yeah, I read your comments. And they were answered by my statement when I said you are too lazy to put in the work that we did. If you don’t want the achievement points, then why are you here posting in this forum? The obvious answer is that you want OUR points taken away from us. So either you’re too lazy to buy GW1 and get the achievements yourself, or you want Anet to take away our achievement points because it’s a different game. If you’re not here for those two reasons, then your probably posting in the wrong forum.

What i want is irrelevant!
What i am doing here, is showing my PoV, on a matter that in my opinion created an unfair advantage!

Well, i also would like to end this thread. If a Developer could shed a little light on this matter, it would end this fairly quickly!

“Shed a little light”? Really? They’re the ones that put the 50 point achievements in-game in the first place. They’ll just say what I said earlier. This obviously isn’t a bug and is meant to be a reward for all previous GW1 players. There is nothing to “shed light on”.

Yes, sometimes, it’s better to explain the why they did it… Unless your truth is the universal one, we may want to hear what the dev’s have to say about this matter!

This can be solved simply by buying the game and getting 50/50 for yourselves. All of you who complain that it’s unfair that we get achievement points, YOU can get them too. Just buy GW1 and get 50/50 HoM.

Read the posts above… I’m not even gonna answer to this!

Oh, what’s that? You don’t want to buy the game? But you still want the achievement points? Well that sucks, because you don’t get free achievement points, and we had to work for ours. Don’t be envious of our achievement points, anyhow.

Clearly you haven’t read the replies i made! I don’t give a crap about AP’s. i have ~5000 Ap’s! Envious? -__- rly?

Sure, you have to put in just as much as work as we did, but that’s equality for you, and apparently you don’t want us to be equal.

We must be speaking different languages here…

Well…Guild Wars was available to everyone at exactly the same time back in 2005, if I remember.

Unless, of course, you weren’t born yet, in which case perhaps take it up with your parents, and not ArenaNet…maybe they can get those 500 points for you, and this would be fair?

Oy vey…

Chuo, if you can’t handle a conversation and make arguments like this one, don’t make a fool out of yourself by making this kind of comments.

I will quote VOLKON, case you missed it:

OK, first of all, please, STOP with the “Go Play GW1 and earn the points” line of counter. You know as well as I do that the amount of time that would take is huge, and that time is better spent in GW2. So knock it off, you look foolish.

Also, case you missed it: " I don’t give a crap about AP! "

LHound.8964

You dodged the question VOLKON! Do you believe it’s fair for that other guy?

PS: And answering your question, you have gain 300 AP :p

That’s actually hard to answer simply because I don’t think fairness is applicable at all. Some guy across town spent all spring in his garden and has a really nice crop of tomatoes. Is that fair to people that love fresh tomatoes and don’t have tomato plants? Fair is irrelevant. I’m not competing with that other guy whether or not he’s under the illusion of competing with me. I spent the time tending my garden without knowing or caring if he existed. How is it unfair if I enjoy fresh tomatoes?

(Side note… I had a hard time typing “garden” thanks to GW2… kept starting out as guard…)

Although you are not competing, the competition exists. Therefore whether you like it or not, you are competing!

A better analogy is this one:

We are all in a Bicycle race (i.g: tour de france). Those who have won a previous race, are entitled to a yellow shirt! The yellow shirt for it’s own shows the prestige of that runner! However, the wearer of the yellow shirt don’t start ahead of the rest, because that would not be fair! Doing so, is creating a handicap for the rest of those in the competition!

Because it is a competition, it should be fair for all, and so all start from the same starting line!

Obviously if i want to join the race later, i will finish it at last! (to those who says it also can’t be fair to who start gw2 later…)

For anyone that’s complaining about the increase in APs from GW1 contributions, answer me this.

How many APs did I receive and how did that affect you?

I don’t know how many you received…

But then answer me this: If you by doing nothing, you passed someone in the leaderboards due to your said gain, then was it fair to that player (let’s assume he cared about his position)?

You want the truth?

I’d have never noticed. I’d actually forgotten the leader boards existed in the first place. All I can see is that Anet gave me 300 APs for my years in GW which take me a bit more than halfway to the next chest but now people that didn’t play Guild Wars seem to think Anet should take that reward from me because of a leader board I forgot existed in the first place.

You dodged the question VOLKON! Do you believe it’s fair for that other guy?

PS: And answering your question, you have gain 300 AP :p

^
Why are you making so much fuss over mere 500 points? Earning achievement or title in GW2 is 100x easier then anything in GW1.

Agree completely. And if you just must have those 500 points, Guild Wars is still up an running and active. Go get them. It’s not like you can’t. They are there for anyone who wants to do exactly the same thing for exactly the same reward.

They haven’t “given” anything to anyone that can’t be had by anyone else. So stop whining and go earn them.

OK, first of all, please, STOP with the “Go Play GW1 and earn the points” line of counter. You know as well as I do that the amount of time that would take is huge, and that time is better spent in GW2. So knock it off, you look foolish.

If you think having 500 AP’s is elitism, and you don’t like elitism, then I’m not sure why you even care about AP’s, or why this bothers you. I have no idea what the rest of your post after “Don’t Agree!” actually means.

I’m finding myself in the odd position of defending one of ArenaNet’s decisions…

I have already told, that it’s a matter of principle. 500 AP it’s not elitism! Thinking that they are entitled to more things and they are better than others just because they played the prequel is!

I don’t care about leaderboards, but i can see how unfair it is to those who cares. I’m not judging anyone for their goals, and i believe that players should be handed the same opportunities within the game’s existence.

Said this, i believe that the Gw1 had played and achieved a lot in Gw1. However their work in Gw1 was directly tied to their sense of fun and self-accomplishment. No Gw1 Vet player says that they only bought the game to support Gw2! They bought the game to play Gw1! It’s a false statement!

Imho, giving AP to the Gw1 in no way is showing how they played Gw1. Giving AP is a hidden reward (that in no way tells they played Gw1). So in fact, it’s more of a bribe, and pure greed of players to accept it. Gw1 players should proudly wear a armor skin, weapon skin or titles that in fact showed their dedication to Gw1.

Highlighted the Elitism! Don’t agree!

I’m sorry but this a lame excuse to support the cause!

If you bought GW1 on purpose to support GW2, and by doing it you had no fun in GW1, then i would accept this kind of answers. If you bought GW1 to play GW1, and the fun you had in GW1 payed the game entirely, then the answer is complete biased!

All the rest is greed!

…We purchased EOTN and GW2 with the expectation that there would be rewards carried over from GW1.

No one said anything about removing rewards from the Gw1 vets… However any form of numeric value should never be given! Shiny skins, pets and other aesthetic items it’s perfectly fine!

The leaderboards mean nothing, zilch, nada. No one but you cares where you are. They are NOT competitive, they are simply a listing of how much time has been spent in the game, nothing more.

It cares for some. By your logic, those who play the longest time on GW2 should be on top. However, with the add of 500 points this might not be true! Who the heck are you to judge how other players have fun?

ALL PvE content should be removed from the leaderboards. Every last achievement as none of them have any meaning. You killed 1000 drakes? and that takes skill how? We should all care why? Only WvW and PvP achievements should be listed as only they have even the slightest meaning at all.

Completely subjective PoV. But i agree that the achievements should be revamped!

To all the players who think 500 points have ruined your life because you have dropped down a few spots an a meaningless list on the internet, get a life and stop acting like a 5 year old. No one cares, bragging about your spot on the leader boards only makes you look foolish.

Still there are some players that cares. I don’t give a kitten about AP’s (i have ~5000) and i am against this AP give away! It’s a matter of principles.

I will gladly give the 500 points back and have my name blocked from ever appearing on the leader boards if it will just stop all the complaining and whining.

Good for you! My hero!!!

Mind you explaining how is bypassing the game restriction by using the game’s own mechanics?

Skipping half the a dungeon path was also “using the game’s own mechanics” and yet it was banable.

hum… different things…
- Skipping half the dungeon is more like an exploit. You get the rewards in half time!
- Transmuting armor is not rewarding you with anything … at all! It’s using the transmuting mechanics to transmute them! If they didn’t want to be transmutable, they would make them like the racial armors – race specific (in this case order-specific).

Yes it is legal to wear other orders armor. It is legal to wear every armor allowed by the game mechanics (trough transmuting included).

The only illegal thing is to cheat/exploit/hack the game to be able to wear other armors (like wearing heavy armor on a light armor user, or using a racial armor on another race).

I can’t help but laugh that people actually think gw1 vets will have an unfair advantage. Like having more achievement points and some extra skins makes us stronger or something..

Why would you laugh to people who have different goals than yours? If some people (like yourself) think that granting Power is an unfair advantage, granting AP to those who wants to compete in the leaderboards is an unfair advantage too…

Now about cosmetics, that’s another story… I agree that GW2 vets should have more skins that proudly represent their achievements in GW1, not Ap’s…

But honestly i’m tired about this subject. If the so called “Vet’s” can’t see past their personal greed (yes it’s greed), and claim that their time in Gw1 give them the right to have an upper hand in any type of goal, then, no point in arguing…

500 points is not really alot, it doesnt get you from the bottom % to the top %, only the hard core achievement point players does it really matter to,

You people sound like your 127,970 ranked spot is doomed to be at 128,837 b.c of of 500 achievement points..

I have less than 6k AP for what matters. But it’s a matter of principle… If someone that wanted to be nº1 and didn’t play Gw1, he can’t be nº1 because someone who played Gw1 that also wants to be nº1, had achieved things in other games!

Its not like 500 points matters, Im glad anet gave it to them, BC you know the leaderboards actually effect the game.. wait? NO THEY DONT.

It don’t matter to you, but you don’t have the right to speak for those who cares…

And, If they don’t matter, why to give 500 at all. Better to give nothing… Would this be alright for you?

Are you still whining about this? What do you care if someone else has these points?

Also one of the selling points of the eye of the north expansion in gw1 was rewards in gw2. Everyone knew this.

Geez Anet please revert the points back to the old amount because I am getting pretty sick of these whining kids…

LOL.

I’m standing by my point of view, different thing from whining. I could be if i really cared about Ap Leaderboard, which i don’t… different story!

Let’s tell again, since the HoM elitism is blinding you:

-No one is saying, that they shouldn’t receive rewards from their hardwork in GW1. I’m saying that the rewards should not be related to Ap whatsoever!

For me HoM could reward:
- Several weapons/armor skins, titles, that were in fact relevant in GW1;
- Special Dyes that have somesort of different color/effect;
- Special relevant GW1 NPC’s mini’s (dragons etc…);
- Special picks, harvest and axes with unlimmited amounts;

For me HoM should NEVER reward:
- AP;
- Gold;
- Karma
- Any other form of currency!
/cheers

Can you understand the difference?

Melandru runes really are broken - Video

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

The fact remains that anet needs to decide if fears/dazes are stuns or not. If not, then stun breaks and stun durations (positive or negative) should not affect them. Something is wrong when sigils and runes become the balancing mechanism for certain types of skills.

This I completely agree…

1st) There shouldn’t be a list of effects with the same name of 1 effect. (stun)
2nd) They should rename all Stun (list of effects) as Control. Instead of Stun Breaker, it should be Control breaker. (Or any other name similar).
3rd) They should fix the ones intended to work only on stun, and those working on all control effects.

LHound.8964

So by awarding achievement points for living story content, by your definition, Anet would be “setting a handicap” for players just now getting into the game? Well, duh!

The people who jump on the bandwagon early are ALWAYS going to be better off than the latecomers. That’s not a “handicap,” it’s common sense. How quickly you all forget that without the GW1 players making GW1 so successful, there wouldn’t be a GW2.

Earning Achieving Point for actually Playing GW2 is not in the same boat as getting them from an outside source! If you can’t see this, i can’t argue with your logics…

And if you’re really that upset about 500 achievement points, Anet isn’t locking you out of them. Everyone with those 500 points ponied up and spent money supporting this franchise – if you want the same reward, why shouldn’t you be held to the same standard? Oh, and have fun with that. You’ll learn quickly, if you try, that 50/50 HoM points is a grind quite unlike anything GW2 will ever throw at you.

GW2 is not GW1. Why the kitten people insist to bring GW1 into the mix…

For the record, I have 35/50, and I put thousands of hours into GW1. I’m not “mad” about those that got 50/50 because I know just how much work and dedication that took. If you want to be competitive, that’s the price you pay.

Good for you… I have invested a lot of time playing Tetris… should i also be rewarded in that manner?

So by your logic, ArenaNet should have said in the game:
“- Atention: to actually be able to achieve the top points in the leaderboards, you actually have to buy a different game”. Otherwise is a complete false advertising. Whatever you do in GW2 you may not be the nº1!

Having any type of rewards from HoM means you actually worked hard for it. So in turn, you are indeed deserving of extra points. Gw2 is connected to GW1 in terms of lore. Makes perfect sense for your current character to enjoy some love from the past.

I agree that the the GW1 HoM hard work should be rewarded, but never never in a numerical way! Doing this, Anet is in fact setting a handicap for the players that never played GW1.

Love is a funny word. If they are paying 500 AP to you for the “Love”, what makes you ppl? “Loyalty” should be all about pride! Showing how you played GW1 hard = cosmetics!

500 AP for GW1 Hall of Monuments Intended?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

LHound.8964

lol, I love how all those that are defending this, already played GW1, and benefited from the extra AP.

Again, you didn’t achieve any of the given “500 AP” in GUILD WARS 2. If they wanted to reward you more than just titles and skins, they should have came up with something other than AP.

Oh and I bet many, who never played GW1, paid more real life money in GW2 than those who did.

Why would you bet that? It’s a strange statement to make. Are you implying Guild Wars 1 players are cheaper than non-guild wars 1 players?

No Vayne, it’s an statement based on the general satisfaction of the GW1 players on the forums… If you seek GW1 in the forum you read mostly how GW2 is not GW1 and how they will not invest in GW2 due to that fact… The sad truth is that the GW1 ported community are elitists who don’t actually see how unfair to the players that didn’t played GW1 this measure is.

I’m not by any way despising their work on GW1, but it’s already been ported in the form of cosmetics. It should always be that way. GW2 is not GW1, and neither should hand any numerical advantage of somesort! It’s clearly unfair to the players that played other games instead of GW1.

It’s hilarious that people keep saying that AP are meaningless, yet in the same post they defend the AP increase. And that they call achievement hunters elitists, when these GW1 veterans are the ones exhibiting elitism themselves.

^ This i agree. I also don’t care about my AP, but i can understand if some players want to be competitive in that way. Any form of numeric increase over time will always make competitiveness, although trivial it may seem! So what right have we to make it less important than other goals?

For me Ap from HoM shoud be = 0
Give them capes, give them kittens, give them more skins, i don’t care at all! It should be more than enough of a reward! If that isn’t enough for you, your not a loyal fan, but a plain beggar!

Melandru runes really are broken - Video

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LHound.8964

LHound.8964

Rennoko, the math is not correct:

Basis:
1) The duration of the conditions are rounded to the nearest quarter of a second.
2) The damage only ticks on full seconds!

Math (Attached):

If the effective Melandru reduction is 25% then Reaper’s Mask Fear will:
- be active for 1,25s @150x, 174x and 175x – ticking damage, 1 time!

If the effective Melandru reduction is 50% then Reaper’s Mask Fear will:
- be active for 0,75s @150x, 174x – not taking damage!
- be active for 1s @175x – ticking damage, 1 time!

So imho, the Rune is in fact adding +25% to the fear than it should! Fear is not stun!

By the look of it, everyone’s Bored!

The content is too easy, not scaled…
Players are forced to be casual as no point of being hardcore.

For me, the last time i had a challenge in this game, was on the Clocktower JP. That kitten made me rage…

500 AP for GW1 Hall of Monuments Intended?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LHound.8964

LHound.8964

Based on difficulty these should be worth 100pts each, not just a measly 50.

Sure, get 100 Points for GW1 in GW1 but please, GW2 is another game, so it should be worth 0 Points in GW2.

I, too, have played another game before and achieved a lot there, so I think if players get 500 points for playing one other game here, other players that played other games should get 500 points for those games, too.

Just remember: GW2 is not GW1 – they just share a common developer and story background.

GW1 fanboys can’t understand that universal mathematical truth…. “2 is different than 1”.

Since there is no information in the patch notes it is obviously a bug.

An official answer would be nice since the discussion is getting quite heated.

I sure hope it’s a bug. We really need some clarification!

500 AP for GW1 Hall of Monuments Intended?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LHound.8964

LHound.8964

It took me years to get those achievements. I’d say they are worth a lot more points. This isn’t like the other achievements in GW2 that you can get in 1 day.

Good for you. I’ve also spent years achieving things in other games!

GW2 is not GW1! Therefor, NON-GW2 achievements shouldn’t count to the total points. Skins and titles are more than enough to reward GW1 players for their “loyalty”.

PS: I find amusing the players stating they are being rewarded for their loyalty, when most of the times, they spend their time raging @ ANet in the forums, and crying on how this is so different from GW1. Pure hypocrisy…

500 AP for GW1 Hall of Monuments Intended?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LHound.8964

LHound.8964

I have to say that i agree to the OP. Although i understand the most of the GW1 fanbase defending their Golden Boy status, this is a new a different game. It has been discussed over and over that GW2 is not GW1. It only shares the Lore and the Name. Nothing More.

To actually introduce such a difference from a Non-GW2 source is creating a handicap to those who want to be competitive (whatever the competitive reason they may bring).

To the OP, Achievement Points are in the same level of competitiveness as tPvP is to the professional teams, and the minis are to the collectors. Is it fair to give a sPvP player +10% of power, just because they played GW1?

To be fair, all the opinions pertaining this subject on the majority of the players here are completely biased, and i agree a dev, should answer this matter!

Portal entre and the z-axis

Does portal entre have a distance limit on the z axis, or is it capable of transporting people between two points regardless of vertical distance, so long as they are within the appropriate map radius?

It have a maximum vertical distance!
I tested it in the well @ the end of the “Plains of Ashford” Guild Puzzle!

Let the Rich get Richer, an Unfair Advantage

Insider trading: The illegal practice of trading on the stock exchange to one’s own advantage through having access to confidential information. Or in this games terms. having information under NDA and acting on said information.

Playing the market: Making trades as soon as possible to take advantage of news.

People who play based upon what they read today is not insider trading it is playing the market.

Working as intended.

There will always be people that have access to information before others. Real world economy works in the exact same manner. Governments and legislation makes changes that drastically influences the markets and everyone knows that major corporations accesses to the information upfront…

However, the market isn’t controlled by the inside trading. And i will bet that the market fluctuations aren’t caused by them.

In the end, can we be upset to expect this behavior? Is it more valid than knowing upfront how sPvP changes will affect the game and how the “Pro”-teams will take that for it’s own advantage?

Unfortunately, there is now single way of changing this behavior except by “Leaking” Closed Gw2 information into a public forum, or by hiding the recipes and materials needed to control the flow…

Expected behavior imho!

WP fee replacement, New money sinks

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LHound.8964

LHound.8964

Let’s discuss new ways to implement money sinks given the following premises:
- goal 1: eliminate waypoint costs
- goal 2: keep inflation under control
- requirement: keep same gold sink through other means

Who has any good ideas for new money sinks that have approximately the same effect as WP costs without being as punishing?

Marnick, i can’t understand why we should replace the WP sink. Can you explain your PoV?

I see it as a transportation device, much same like the bus, the cab or the the car. You always spend money for transportation, unless you go on foot. Same principles, different world (virtual in this case)…

Free Trials

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LHound.8964

LHound.8964

I agree that trial systems could indeed be permanent, with some possible restrictions:
.1 – Could only be played until level 15 in PvE, or (rank5???) in sPvP.
.2 – Could only choose a low-medium server or low tiered WvW servers to avoid spies in the game (therefore not allowing the exploit of the system) and in the same place increasing the server players playing them.
.3 – Referal system. If you refer a friend, if they upgrade to full account, they receive a ticket to choose server (can choose the same), and the friend receives n*100 gems (where n is a integer = or > than 1 defined by ANet).

There are so many possiblities that i dunno why a system like this is not running already…

How to level up fast?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: LHound.8964

LHound.8964

To level up fast:

.1) If you are new to the game, forget crafting! You don’t have the gold nor the materials to craft (unless you get them from another source).

.2) Take the most exp as you can by doing:
.i) – Story Line quest (green missions) rewards huge amount of exp. Don’t try to make quests to high as you will have a hard time completing them.
.ii) – Do the Dynamic events as soon as they appear, even if you are doing a heart quest or looking for a Vista/PoI. Dynamic events comes and goes. The others are statics and you can do them when you want.
.iii) – Between dynamic events, do the group events first, champion and verteran kills second and then the normal Dynamic events. If two near events appear together, try to hit one or two mobs from one (or catch and deliver something), and pass to the next one. It’s better to get one GOLD and one BRONZE, than simply one GOLD.
.iv) – Always be on map zone level. If you are level 17 and the map is 1-15, pass to the next area to where the mobs are “your level+0 to your level+2”. You get more experience from events this way. You have plenty of time to clear maps later.
.v) – Always use a exp+10 (or exp+15) consumable food. It’s always good to have a boost regardless small it may be.
.vi) – Don’t use very out-leveled gear. The better it is, the faster you do things. It don’t need to be extraordinary. You can get cheap low level items from the trading post.
.vii) – Don’t go to WvW at low levels. The rewards aren’t that good for a low-level. If you want to level in the WvW, i recommend doing it, at 40+
.viii) – Don’t be afraid to use any Exp boost you may receive. Leveling is linear, and you would benefit the most at lower levels than at higher levels. Specially the ones from killing. (Higher levels have higher amount of DE and Dungeon XP, so it is a waste).
.ix) – Explorable paths dungeons are a good source of Exp (~1 level per path). Although the first starts at level35, i don’t recommend doing it, unless you have a good group (top level players). Always tell you are a new player and not very leveled. Most of players helps.
.x) – Last but not the least. Join a good active Guild! Guilds makes the leveling process much faster and much more enjoyable. Having guildies to help out is awesome. Don’t forget to do the same later!

Southsun is a Failed Experiment IMO

in Living World

Posted by: LHound.8964

LHound.8964

I agree. I believe Anet is having a hard time getting the “Reward/effort/time spent” right. Southsun Cove is the prime example of that.

Why would i go there, if i can do things with more rewards and less trouble in other places?
What kind of things could they add to make players go there? Grind with MF boost?

I don’t mind if mobs are incredibly tougher like the reef drake, as long as the loot is proportional to it’s difficulty (what it’s not the case).
