I might be wrong, but i believe that if you bid an amount higher than the lowest selling price of that item, you will pay that amount (lowest selling price).
Like:
Item A lowest price is selling for 10g!
Item A highest bid is buying for 8g!
If you bid 20g, it buys the item for 10g!About the item not showing up, wait a bit longer, as the TP was experiencing some abnormalities!
I’m guessing here and prob wrong but if you put 20g in then it will buy 20g worth of items. Or the excess amount will be available for pick up. Like i say prob wrong but you never know.
I believe the gold difference goes to the pick-up tab.
Probably has happened to everyone who have played with the TP. When they pay a price for a item and in exact same time, someone placed the same item but cheaper, you get the item and the difference goes to the pick-up tab. It should work in the same manner.
I wonder what can you pay for in gw2 that can help you win wvw / pvp with newb skills..
…exactly..!!.
My tiger charr backpack, with such cuteness, can mesmerize WvW invaders with it’s glare!
Contrary to popular belief, loot manipulation doesn’t benefit anet. All it does is change the rarity of an item, and since anet doesn’t sell items directly the price comes from a the amount of . TP barons do not ruin the economy. People farming T6 mats do not ruin te economy. None of these add gold to the pool. People who farm Gold, be it via CoF or any other method are the sole source of inflation. Just wanted to put that out there
Inflation isn’t the result of CoF farming! Inflation is a natural process that occurs upon players getting more wealth. That is a natural process that keeps happening trough the game’s age. CoF gave players a faster way of getting gold, and because of that it has increased the velocity of the inflation process, but it’s not the sole responsible for that!
I agree that the game needs to tone down a bit CoF reward/time spent ratio, as long as they increase the rewards in different places. Creating a mechanism that will influence the market negatively as reducing CoF rewards, will deflate the market very fast. Steady paces (up or down) is the way to go!
However this belongs on another topic, as the current one, needs to be closed due to obvious reasons!
Classic GW2 Answer: “When it’s ready”
ANET have already announced that they will be refunding all commanders with their 100 gold and will change the way the commander tag is gained. That being the case all these people who are now buying the title are doing so pointlessly… So the laugh is on them!
Can you please post that source? Thanks!

Every time I’m waiting with a group of players for some event there is always some nimrod in his/her underwear running around in circles and jumping up and down. I suppose they are hoping for something like this to occur:
/map
Player A: OMG do you guys see that guy running around in his underwear? LOL that’s hilarious.
Player N: HAHA yes I saw it. That’s freaking insanely funny. I took a bunch of screen caps and I’m gonna put them on my Facebook. LOL
Player F: Man that is a riot. Look at that guy. HAHAHAH
Player K: I took a video. I’m going to put it on Youtube as soon as the event is over. This is classic. The only point of underwear is so your toon doesn’t look like naked Barbie or Ken doll when you are swapping out gear.
This example is ridiculous… Like if everyone is an attention kitten…
My charr with the Gw2 cap, looks like a coach. I usually wear town cloths when gathering players before the guild missions. What’s the problem with that?
Players in these days…

i am a Mesmer and i never seen a hack like you said! I already seen however two Mesmers with identical names and chars (gear, color, etc…). Do you have any kind of proof to this claim? If you do, send it to ANet trough : https://en.support.guildwars2.com!

I was thinking about this subject as well. Having the trinity system isn’t good for this game, as this game has a strong sense of “your life is solely at your hands”. However i do feel also, that some abilities are way underpowered like regen.
I have one Banner Warrior, Traited for maximum boon duration/healing power, to do a steady support of swiftness and regeneration. I indeed get a good time of regeneration, but the average time it needs to heal a decent amount isn’t worth the catch. Also it has the possibility of being stripped while healing. So, those parameters must be taken into account and be a little more dependent of healing power:
At lvl 80 the formula goes:
Regen HP tick = 130 + (0.125 * Healing Power) per second = 255 for a 1000 Healing Power.
A Standard healing (skill 6) ~ 5000 Healing. So we need about 20 secs of Regen @ 1000 Healing Power to reach the same amount of healing. It can’t even counter a Burning Condition with about 1000 C.D.!
I believe that boosting the Healing power factor in the formula to 0.250 – 0.350 would be enough to do a good heal and yet not to be OP!

If an item gives you gameplay advantage (like upgrades: +5% dmg, +5% armor etc) then it is P2W to some extent.
What item currently in the cash shop does that?
Also, if there is no advantage whatsoever in PvP (sPvP, tPvP and WvW), then it’s fine to me! Services and Fashionable items are fine as they are in the shop!
Charr! Do Charr!
lol jk..
I’ll go with Human Fem..
I am a Charr Mesmer… And i recommend one to everyone, everyday!
What’s up with you ppl, discriminating this race/class combo…
You want to play a melee class, no problem with that. But are you saying you want to suck the damage up because you are a melee class, instead of dodging?
Let’s make a small analogy: Think the red circles as grenades/bombs blast radius. IRL, you might be the strongest wrestler, ninja or whatever you want to be, but if you don’t gtf out of the grenade radius, you are pretty much dead! The same happens in this game. You are responsible for your life, and not dodging a impact zone, will make you die and compromise the whole group!
Dodging is a well made mechanic and it should be used very often. Melee classes and builds are no exception!
The supply of those low level materials are proportional to the low level players found in those gathering node areas. It might be a reflection of the lack of new players.
Also, the majority of low level players are Alts. People tend to craft power level and therefore also a mean of reducing those said materials.
However this is Pure Speculation!

Isn’t that Cow launcher minigame in diessa plateau a gambling mechanic? I honestly think people are going overboard with this suggestion !
Psychology of Gambling: Why Do People Gamble?

Reading this thread i remembered this Video

xD
Looking at the options is not as simple as it seems.
Taking a base of 10 seconds and 1 attack per second we get, base damage of 1000!
-Sigil of Strenght! -> 1 stack of might per crit with a cd of 2 secs. (Max of 5 Might boons when no Boon duration up, and considering you had the luck of 100% crit on hit):
2 strikes with 5 might + 2 strikes with 4+ 2 with 3, 2 with 2 and 2 with 1 Might boon =
(10+8+6+4+2)(352) = 2100 added Power
So the total damage would be = 10000+2100 = 12100
-Sigil of Force -> 5% damage per attack for every attack. (10 strikes)
You give 5% for each strike so total is 10* (1000 +5%*1000) = 10500!
- Sigil of Air/Fire -> 1 attack per crit with a 5 secs cd ( 2 strikes) considering you crit hit with a 100% chance!
You inflict 10000+ 2x(Sigil damage) Air damage > Fire damage.
So in the end we can see that:
- For lower power chars, they would benefit more from Strenght, instead of Force or Air, as long as the boons are not stripped.
- For increasing attack speeds, the +% will increase its damage more than those with a cooldown as the cooldown is unnafected by the attack speed.
- For Strenght and Air, it was considered the maximum chance of critting. However, they have a inbued 30% chance that rolls after your chance of critting (that is 50% also) that may greatly influence the outcome.
So you see there are too many variables that may affect the result. Therefore it is inconclusive that one is best than other. I prefer the Air, because when it hits, it huts a lot

Eh…. PayPal isn’t exactly the most trustworthy company. More power to others, but a lot of people, myself included, aren’t keen on their terms of service that basically say they can freeze your funds for any reason at any time.
You don’t have to keep money in paypal. I just use it as a funnel to buy things using my credit card without having to give my CC information to every individual website. You can do the same with your bank information.
^ I agree this is the best way of doing it! +1
Why isn’t there any RNG involved with “dynamic” events?
For example. Why does [insert dragon name here] come at every meta boss event? Why not once every 10-20 to make it memorable? Give people a meta event with same rewards, but have the dragon only appear randomly to make it special.
The Meta events would become a little messed up, wouldn’t they?
They could create a chance (10%?) of spawning an Enraged version of the Dragon Champions (more damage also) instead of the current ones, with an increase loot chance for greater items, although the resources to do it, could be hard to achieve with the current developments.
.1 – Stay on area level:
If the map is 1-15 and you have 16, you are wasting XP! Try to keep the mobs always at +0 – +1 from you. You get more XP this way. Move along to the next map as soon as the area is lower than your level. If you don’t complete the map, you can always do it later with no problem, although a lot easier.
.2 – Do events in this order:
- [Group] Dynamic events, Champion kill Dynamic events, Veteran kill dynamic events, normal dynamic events and last the Heart Quests. If you are doing a heart quest, and a dynamic event (orange) starts, leave the heart quest as you can finish later!
.3 – When you are leveled enough, start doing dungeons (explorable) with people who don’t mind taking you along! Some dungeons paths can be very tricky for lower level players.
.4 – Use always a Experience enhancement buffs. Food from the beginning (Candy Corn foods give +15%exp for 45m) and save the mystic chests XP boosts (if you have any) for the mid levels (40-70) due to the higher availability of dynamic events.
These are some advices, and some players might give you more.
/Cheers
PS: Leveling was one of the most enjoyable things to do in Gw2. The Lore and the details are so rich that discovering and exploring was quite a fun experience (and i usually just skip everything in MMO games). If you rush with this one, try to make another char when you accomplish your lightspeed leveling and take the time to see it for yourself!
Reading from all the above, i’m neither of those!
I enjoy the game just by playing with my friends.
Don’t do any specific content.
Don’t have any specific gear.
Don’t explore much.
Don’t play to be the best, nor do i care if i am the worst.
I spend 50% of the time running in circles or jumping from a crate to crate in LA, while i’m talking on Ts3.
I Play the TP a lot. I Fail most of the times!
Lady luck have a grudge against me! If i find her ingame or IRL i would slap her very hard!
When friends are not ingame, probably i will just log out!
The head.
Loose it! It doesn’t go well with the rest!
If you can’t, just try different color schemes, like cesmode as said. It may make you wonders. Just don’t go with the “CoF All Black skin set” It’s way overused!
/cheers
A good graphic card is completely essential to enjoy the detail on the world.
Before i bought the computer i am playing now, i remember that in a previous game all the stairs were ramps to me… When i realized that they were indeed stairs i got the "Whoooah, wtf… " feel!
I agree that more professions aren’t needed atm. Races, i don’t mind (as it don’t interfere with balancing issues).
Mesmer have the more versatile F1-F4 Mechanics.
(F1 – Direct Damage, F2 – Confusion, F3 – Stun, F4 – Invulnerability)
Warrior is the best single target F1. The easiest to master (only one F1 skill)
Guardian is just as Marnick said. Straight Forward and the least versatile.
Necromancer is a protective mechanic, more than it is offensive!
Elementalist, is simply 4-weapon swaps, nothing more!
Ranger, Thief, Engineer – Played them so little that i don’t have a opinion about the class mechanic F1-F4!

If you think about it, LHound, it’s the same that what I said… just expressed differently
The conclusion is perfectly valid, but the example is not! A lot of people thinks that the MF will give a plain boost to the item drop chance and that’s not correct!! +100% MF don’t double that particular item drop chance!
A more valid example should be:
- There are 10 loot tables. Within that 10 tables the same item has a rising probability of dropping. Increasing MF will boost the chances of getting to roll on higher tables. Therefore there will be an increasing chance of dropping the item with increasing MF. How much MF there is needed to do so, remains a mystery!
What we know is that the item drop chance is a combined probability between the table roll and item chances in that particular table!
A solid amount of luck is nevertheless needed to drop the best items.
/Cheers
You do understand how MF works, right?
For instance, if you have 100% magic find, and the original drop rate of an item is 1%, then this drop rate is augmented by 100% and is now 2% (1% + 100% of 1%).
So while augmenting drop chances, you still need to win that luck roll ;-)
Magic Find don’t work like that xD
It works like this:
“Everytime you kill a monster you roll on a number of tables, inside these tables are different rarity categories. Magic find increases the chances you will get higher categories. For example if there is a 1 in 10 category, and you have 200% magic find you will have 3/10 chances to get that category. This improves not just the rarity of the items you get but can also improve your chances at getting trophies and rare crafting materials like lodestones.” – Izzy

I haven’t seen the video, due to it’s current length (Killcannon has right to suggest that it’s better to have 4 videos with 1/4 of that one’s length), but i will see it as soon as i have the time. Nevertheless, +1 for the work.

What purpose does it serve?
Does the extra 5 stat of the same infusion stat really make a difference?
For me? No, it doesn’t make a difference!
For some people it does and there are some infusions that are both (offensive/defensive) that could bring that extra 5 points, but are very expensive (comparing with the normal ones).
The reason why the content doesn’t stay is because the more you fracture the playerbase, the less people there are playing. SAB and the new dungeon kept a lot of people out of the open world, which is not really Anet’s goal.
That is quite a loop, ain’t it?
Content is played → Players stays off Open World → They remove content to stop that → Players stop playing until there is “content to play” (No Open World interaction aswell) → Content is created to bring players again. /Repeat
So the thing here, is what should be left as permanent and shouldn’t be, to make players stay tuned in the game (whatever the mode they are playing)!
I can’t bring you exact numbers, but i see a huge difference.
With no MF at all (Full berserker gear) on Southsun i get a lot less Blues and greens than i get with MF ~ 400.
I’ve got 7 Rare lv75-80 gear with MF in 1 hour of farming (Drakes and Karkas). This is not usual with no MF).
To be fair, yes i see differences, but i can’t quantify!
/cheers
Temporary content by default are not bad. The problem is to define what should stay permanent within the temporary content.
-Seasonal events (Christmas, Halloween, Easter, etc..):
This events should stay temporary as they are meant to bring the hollidays and other noticble RL events into the game. They aren’t tied to the Lore of the game and they surely are meant to be played on that times solely!
-Living Story type events:
While the content that is the backbone of the “Living Story” should not stay permanent (living story steps), the content that is not directly attached to the story, should stay. Taking the Flame & Frost Living story, the dungeon should have stayed. It may be slightly different to accommodate the Living story conclusion (Like 2 paths – The first dredges exclusive and the second Flame Legion exclusive as their alliance have been broken, or not).
Not anytime soon.
/cheers
It’s the reward from the Living Story event:
“Light/Medium/Heavy” Fused Gauntlets
TC has infinite overflow in southsun. Towns are full, so full you can barely take a step without running into someone.
You can guest to full servers, you just can’t transfer. On the US side I believe every server is very full. If you don’t see many people they are either in southsun doing the new content, or it could be a slow time of day/week. This thread is one step away from the endless “game is dying” argument… Be afraid, be very afraid.
Cursed shore may seem dead because many people dislike the epic mobs.
The game isn’t Dying at all!
However, the servers were created to withstand the influx of players on the release. The amount of players now, are significantly less than on release which can reduce the overall fun for those who stood in low populated servers. That don’t mean that the game is dying. Obviously those who though that the game was the holy grail of gaming have quit and left an empty space.
A defragmentation may be needed xD
ANet have also said, that the server population is calculated through active accounts. I don’t know how they define “active” or how much is the max server population, but some servers really look like empty…
…
Anet, on the other hand, doesn’t have reason to close the servers, since people can guest at will. Why should they close servers?
I can see benefits in terms of WvW experience! Condensing servers may cause some servers to be more WvW capable, specially the lower tiered servers.
There is also a player cost/server. Obviously there is a line, where the cost of maintaining a server may not be worthy due the amount of players playing in there.
Very Low populated servers becomes both a problem for ANet and for players. Although players problems can be mitigated by the guesting feature, it doesn’t solve players problem regarding WvW nor ANet’s problems. Guesting is a cool feature, but it’s not meant to solve the population related problems. Merging will! Sooner or later that’s what’s going to happen!
/Cheers!
I was surprised when i saw the availability of the passionflowers in Southsun Cove. Also, the introduced mechanics that makes people to do Dynamic events is awesome. Awesome MF / Gold Buffs. This is being great so far!
I never tip the mesmers that portal me. Bad enough I let them in the guild. lol
Haha. I love mesmers, but not in pvp. Hell Ive had half a thought to switch to my mesmer as my main.
I tipped 50 silver i think.
I believe this was me. Although i didn’t want any silver for doing it (i even sent back to you and you re-sent the silver) thanks for tipping. A simple thanks would be enough.
/cheers
Honestly i would like to see claws. Claws for Engineer, thieves and Necromancers. It would be awesome. But i think we should work with what we got so far and expanding them. I would like to see more combinations, like:
(MH) Focus – Elementalists, Mesmers;
(MH) Shield – Engineers and Guardians;
(MH) Pistol – Mesmer;
(MH) Torch – Ranger;
(OH) Scepter – Engineer and Necromancer;
(MH) Warhorn – Ranger, Necromancers and Warriors.
Vayne, afaik MF don’t work as a plain multiplier to the item loot chance. It increases loot table chances, and not loot table item chances. Let’s make a theoretical example:
#. table1 has got 4/10 chance to be rolled.
#. table2 has got 3/10 chance to be rolled.
#. table3 has got 2/10 chance to be rolled.
#. table4 has got 1/10 chance to be rolled.
With increasing MF %, the chances tends to change the table looting:
#. table1 has got 1/10 chance to be rolled.
#. table2 has got 4/10 chance to be rolled.
#. table3 has got 3/10 chance to be rolled.
#. table4 has got 2/10 chance to be rolled.
Inside each table the item probability of dropping is the same independently of the MF. Between tables, different rarities have different probabilities.
This behavior explains why we see a reducing amount of grey/white items on increasing MF to blue/green items. If it was a multiplier, we would see a huge increase of the lowest quality items (grey/white).
/Cheers
I’ve passed more than 1 hour on portal duty with my Mesmer due to the difficultly of the said JP to some of my friends. Check if a Mesmer is in the end, and ask for a portal.
I believe it will be cyclical.
Maybe we will see a Pincer like sickle due to the expected events in Southsun. Maybe a year later we will see another permanent pick…
Wait a sec,
What happens if my warrior uses:
Dogged March
“Incoming immobilize, chill, and cripple conditions are reduced by 33%. Gain regeneration for 3 seconds when you are affected by one of these conditions (this regeneration can only be gained once every 10 seconds).”
and then i use Melandru Runes (-25%) and Lemongrass (-40%)?
I get 98% reduction on cripple, chill and immobilize?
humm… i can see Dr. Doom if it was a guy with more cloth on.
cool
You need rank 5 art of war
then you can unlock guild bounty
then you build a guild bounty (either rank 1 2 or 3)
then you go to upgrades and activate itFrom there you do this big round robin type thing where you unlock trek, rush, challenge and puzzle by having the previous one unlocked.
This is correct. I’ll add detail for clarity:
For you to get Art of War rank5 you will need to unlock first:
“Art of War rank1” – 500 I.P. (Influence Points)
“Art of War rank2” – 1,000 I.P.
“Art of War rank3” – 5,000 I.P.
“Art of War rank4” – 10,000 I.P.
“Art of War rank5” – 20,000 I.P.
then
“Guild Bounties Unlock” – 30,000 I.P.
TOTAL (I.P.) = 66,500 I.P.
I recommend that you start doing also after “Art of War rank3” is unlocked the “Guild Bounty Training” as it rewards 3,000 I.P. when it is successful.

To me the only source of prestige is related to outstanding work done to himself and to others. However, owning a legendary item is not a prestigious situation. The amount of ppl that payed the legendary with real cash (cash to gems), is mixing with those who worked very hard to get one.
At the moment the source of prestige IMO:
.1 – Achievement points: Marks the work players have done to get them.
.2 – sPvP rank leaders. Outstanding dedication, training and knowledge about their and other classes as well. Teamwork in it’s highest.
.3 – WvW dedication. Those players and those guilds that are constantly leading the world war, whose dedication and valor are absolutely prestigious. They are like the North Star, as following them will always lead you to safety and to victory.
In my honest opinion these are the only sources of prestige. Any kind of prestige that can be bought with gold isn’t prestigious at all. Prestige is not about wealth but about effort!
/Cheers
hum… futurology.
I don’t see any shifts in the current implemented system.
New weapon 2-H → New 1-5 skills
New weapon 1-H (main hand) → new 1-3 skills (new skill 3-combo for thief)
New weapon 1-H (off hand) → new 4-5 skills.
The addition of new weapons types per class, don’t mean that the older will become trash. It’s an addition to the current system, nothing more!
