Happened to me also. A quick close and open the game again solved it for me. But quite odd indeed!

Probably every guild leader in this game will say to you that they are having trouble keeping their players together playing this game. Players lost their “mojo” All the three sections of the game (sPvP, PvE and WvW) are incredibly faulty and lack some fundamental MMO mechanics.
One of the fundamental gaming mechanics is setting an almost addicting driving force that makes you play the game and appearing “every day” just to play a little longer. However this game lacks the core mechanic driving forces:
- sPvP – There is no competition. Players specially in this game loves to be the best (even they aren’t, they still think they are). There is no way of doing this in this game. There is no goal whatsoever , other than play this game mode for fun.
- WvW – No rankings, no guild content, nothing. Everyone is just a piece of meat and everyone is like a pawn in this chess board. Repeat and do again.
- PvE – Something is clearly wrong in this game mode. Players are being forced to do some particular things to get things done! Leveling is easy, gearing is easy… so what will you do to keep you hooked? Grinding? That’s what it is left!

Also, bugs! This game has a lot of them. Particularly class bugs. A lot of bugs still happens and they aren’t being corrected as they should. You can see that just by looking at the wiki and a lot of skills, traits and items are still bugged.

Overall, the game is not nearly as completed as it should be. It needs a lot to be done. Regarding the content and the players leaving, is up to the guild leaders to create the driving forces for them to stick around. Make guild events, create prizes, Go to war as a guild, do some events (dragons, temples, etc… etc…) Raiding different dungeons with different people. There is so much that can be done…

But one thing i can be sure. If the guild leader looses his faith, his guild is going down!

I Bought a ton of u.dyes until i got the abyss dye which i did, and they cost me around the price of the abyss dye. So it was a win situation, because i got a lot of colors including the abyss for the abyss price.

Trading post is a database, which have a player id tagged to every single item id list(that way the TP knows when the items are bought, how many gold is due to that played id). For the ones working with that Database, it’s easy to see who is listing what, just by sorting by that item id.

Yes, but with that getting Legendary is a very simple process. It wouldn’t be unique anymore.
I think the rng is the right approach. If you don’t want to take it then you can always buy it from TP. So you have 2 options.
When you decide to craft it however, you will realize suddenly that the price is fair because you’re risking a lot to get one.

Neither it should be RNG (cause it penalizes the hard working player in detriment of a lucky player) nor it being able to be bought. Legendary weapons shouldn’t be easy to get either. It should be solely a reward to effort approach. A solid dedication to several aspects of the game and hard achievements.

No one is deviating from the topic. We are basically agreeing that the price is most of the times (except those which are manipulated by M.M.) “fair” to it’s counterweights Mystic Toilet method and exotics drop rate from mobs/events/chests!

In some ways yes you are correct, it is entirely possible to make enough money to buyout the precursor you desire, I personally have the money to buy a legendary straight off the TP, but the feeling of that would not be of accomplishment. Most people what to have the feeling of opening that mammoth gold sparkly chest and get a freaking epic awesome part of their legendary they have been working so hard towards.
The thought of encouraging people to buy precursors or gamble in the mystic toilet for that much of their gold is just pure rotten.

It’s not about the price. It’s about walking a legendary path to get your legendary weapon. The system now is, if you have a ton of money, you can get a legendary weapon… It’s a shame!

If we assume that the drop has a similar chance of those of the same rarity like legendary precursor exotics statistically I would rule out Orr, due to it’s constant farming.

It wouldn’t make sense for this game, due to the servers WvW! Also what’s the point of doing so? You already have sPvP and WvW for Player vs Player environments!

No need to turn everything into easy-mode! It’s a hard difficulty event, where maybe there is more than the usual “zerg 123 – dead”.

Well if you have recently bought the game, why don’t you ask for the support?

It’s dumb if the the game don’t allow you to change servers if you have 0 characters bound into the game! The only options that you have is:
- Ask support for doing it!
- Ask a refund (You probably can) and buy the game again (brand new account). This is stupid but i would probably do it if i made a mistake and i couldn’t correct it!
- Pay the server transfer to transfer a 0 characters account into a new homeworld. (this is even more stupid, but i think it’s the only way now!)…

Nevertheless, this should be valid if you have bought the game recently and you have 0 chars in your account, or it could be abused!

Magic Find is fine. Players are the ones to blame!

I have a magic find set, but for the purposes of instances i don’t wear it, as i have one fifth of the responsibilities within the group. Also, if i want a non-MF user i specifically say that when on the recruiting!

Also even if MF increases the chances from 1 : 2 million to 1 : 1 million, it’s still worth for those who want to use them.

So in the end your opinion about Magic Find is biased due to some bad experiences that you may had with bad players in dungeons!

i would suggest making the precursor easy to obtain, but make other parts of the legendary process harder. Also each ingredient should be account bound, so that you cant simply buy mats from the TP. Perhaps there shouldnt be ingreedients but achievements that would award you with a part of the recipe.

Legendaries should mean legendary player status. And by this i mean that it shouldn’t based on the player’s wealth, but in his deeds.

A better solution is to make tokens redeemable on made achievements. In this line of view it is a fairly better solution to:
- Reduce T6 materials and add tokens achievement based on Chopping/Mining/Harvesting and Salvaging.
- Reduce the Lodestone amounts and add tokens trough dungeon completions.
- Add tokens for doing Jumping Puzzles;
- Add tokens for crafting lv400 exotic gear with a added ingredient “Prove of mastery” for example.
- Increase the chances of dropping precursors in the MF, Dragons.
- Add tokens for slaying dragons!
- Add tokens for doing META events throughout different maps!

Somethings are fine:
- Mystic Clovers should be the only RNG factor on the legendary
- Gift from dungeon tokens are fine!
- Gifts from WvW are fine (Although i rather have them trough achievments);
- Gifts from map completion are fine;
- Obsidian shards are fine;

The way it is now, it’s a complete nonsense. Gold means Legendary weapons… LOL. Impossible Precursors chance, Grind farming materials, RAGE and more RAGE.

I find the Necromancer very good. Honestly i don’t know why people say it’s bad. I don’t play sPvP with it though, but in WvW and in PvE, it rocks! A lot of badges and general loot. Kill opponents very well. AoE quite good… so… dunno!

1 time events are cool. They are world changing, make it seem something permanent is happening, something that you “just needed to be there”.

Louis Armstrong ain’t going back to the moon every week because you missed it the first time.

Things that constantly repeat become stale after a while. Everyone’s “been there, done that” as the title says. 1 time events can be made more epics, can introduce permanent world changes and revigorate the game if done right.

If it happens during that weekend I went camping, well I’m happy for those that could participate, but my camping trip was more important. I’ll just have fun in the changed world when I come back, and listen to the stories of those who played the content.

Again, when the Karka event was going on, I was leveling in some Charr land somewhere.

One time events are cool, i agree to that. However players shouldn’t be penalized from being from a different timezone. Missing sleep is not the same boat as going camping!
I can agree however that one time events may exist, as long as, they set them on different timezones event to event, and they make available the rewards to those who couldn’t be on (like Halloween final chest – hat reward that was in LA after that event went trough)!

About this Laurel patch i agree that the same opportunity was given to everyone, but it wasn’t fair to everyone!

This is a MMO. Some players will enjoy more content than others because of more free time to spend. More time invested = more reward. That’s the genre. If you want to CTF or DM or whatever the flavor of the month is in multi-player FPS games, then go play those.

Yes. It’s a video game.

Everyone here payed the same amount of money to play the game, so they at least should have the same opportunities to do so. In this line of thought the game should:

.1 – not have one time events. The fact that the servers share the same update time creates that some get them in their prime time and others in their worst. Fairness here is creating a 24 hour window to make the events. Instead of making a one time event, make a one day event, where the event spawns 4 times in the day (every 6 hours f.ex.) and make the rewards 1 per account.

.2 – Updating the game at the exact daily reset time. This would make situations like the one presented here impossible, therefor making it fair for all timezones.

.3 – Make these kind of updates at weekends. This would maximize the players that are awake till later not having to go to work and school. It’s a matter of common sense. Obviously why should i get another chance at doing things if i prefer to play football with some friends? I shouldn’t! But sleeping is not categorized in these kind of behavious nor work/school!

It’s a matter of reaching the worldwide population!

I got it done and if I wouldn’t, I wouldn’t have batted an eyelid. Guess what, you’re going to miss other dailies in the coming months. It happens, sometimes you just don’t feel like playing each day, sometimes you just can’t because of other external factors.

It’s not “unfair”, it’s life. The servers are up 24/7, either you make time for it if it’s important or you move on. Seriously.

It’s not about the Laurel, it’s about being fair for all !

Also, you didn’t answer the question. But let’s put it on other terms:

Do you agree that one time events in your timezone should start at 5am * that lasts for 3 hours and might reward you with good things (like a precursor?)

What we should take for this thread is that ANet should have delayed the patch till the last minute of 28th or made the Laurel only rewarded in the 29th daily! Don’t get me wrong i got that 3 hr window Laurel, but it’s unfair for some timezones!

Everyone had a chance to get the first Laurel. I’ve completed my daily achievements before the patch. When the patch was released the daily achievements were reset and I was able to get the first laurel before midnight UTC.

Not real. Those people that were at UTC + 5/6 didn’t had the same chances to get the Laurels as a UTC timezone player. Or do you expect for people to stay awake till 3AM to get a daily and then go work next morning?

I’m in GMT+1, and from what I understand, the update was around 22:00GMT+1. So, 3 hours before the daily reset. But I thought people did the daily twice that day, first the old one, and then the new one after the update.

^That’s correct! Daily was reset after update. So you had 3 hours for doing it, like i did.

But i think that it shouldn’t be possible. For the simple reason that in some timezones that was already too late for the players to be awake. Specially in a week day (a lot have to work in the morning).

This game is global. A fact Anet often forgets!

You are seeing it the other way around:

MF don’t make you loot more and a consequence of that, more rares (with same drop chances).

MF increases individual drop chances, and a consequence of that increases the loot quality and amount dropped! System will make a drop check and the values beyond that check will be dropped!

I know indeed that it’s 1380. I was making the math for 1200, not for 1380, like the example provided.

Each path done for the 1st time gives you 60 tokens. Second path run after that gives you 20, and 10 afterwards i believe.

So:

Path 1, run 1 = 60
Path 2, run 1 = 60
Path 3, run 1 = 60

Path 1, run 2 = 20
Path 1, run 3 = 10

and so on!

The precursor price increase was actually just 1 or 2 guys with too much money manipulating the market. My proof is that 2 weeks ago it was 300g. 1 week ago before change was announced) all 3 on the market were taken off and put back on for 500g. Exact same thing happened the day of the change. All removed, same 3 put back up for 200g higher than before… Very annoying.

Also I do understand why people like the change but thAt chAnge just made my 2nd fav legendary become my 2nd least liked in 1 swoop. Very sad since I was so close to obtaining it.

When i say that the precursor increase, i am not talking about those trying to sell it (Market manipulators). I am talking about the price that the players are willing to pay to get that precursor. This increase is in fact a reflection of the acceptance people have with this new version of the dreamer!

I can understand that you may be upset with this change, but unfortunately everyone can’t be pleased. The only solution to that is increase the legendary choice of weapons (much like Sunrise and Twilight – 2 for pick).

By doing a dungeon you get 60 tokens! For 1200 just make 20 runs. If you divide it for 3 (as in 3 paths usually people do them), you surely will get 180 per run (plus bonus from dungeon champion kills) So, very fast imo! (In a week slacking off).

i completed the monthly achieve after the 28th update. i got all other rewards except for the 10 leurals.

if anyone wants to rush to get the Feb monthly achive for 10 leurals, you’re are warned.

.1 – Laureals starts being given as monthly rewards in February. A lot of topics on this matter. Search Function ftw!

.2 – People can’t rush February monthly due to the “monthly completionism” in the monthly. To complete, you must make a defined amount of dailies! So no candies for rushers!
