Posted in another thread and i’ll post it again here.
My oppinion about the Outmanned buff:
Outmanned -> Create two buffs (Mildly Outmanned and Severely Outammaned ) and give them proper Offensive, Defensive and Support buffs instead of that crap that does not increases competitivity!
Types of bonus:
Defensive:
Toughness,
Vitality
Offensive:
Power
Condition Dmg
Support
can carry +5 supplies
upgrades getting cheaper (10%-20%)Even if players loose interest, the server stays competitive. If the server stays competitive, the interest will come again! (You can observe this behavior when you are winning everyone comes, and when you are loosing, everyone goes!)
My 2 cents!
Sort of…
If a 50 man zerg runs into another 50 man zerg you have a total of 100 man data. Information about those 100 players need to go to the server(at the same time) and then reaching every client. (Think on a big amount of cars entering side by side into a tunnel. how many cars can enter?). Lightening the load of received data increases the response by every client (reducing lag) and the overall stability. Rendering the characters is a pain due to their unique differences, having more data to transmit/receive. Limiting the rendering process reduces the load of data. (Now think that they reduced the load of cars by changing them to bikes in the same tunnel. They have more space to travel, don’t they?).

As a programmer i know how hard it is sometimes to pass from thoughts and words into “1’s” and “0’s”. Saying things like “It’s easy, just do this or that… don’t help at all!”
Bandwidth sucks! With the improving of the MMO games a lot more of data is required to be sent from the client to the server and the other way around. This would create issues when a lot of players are doing this at the same time, like it happens in WvW or on PvE big events (Like the events from Lost Shores).
There are three kind of situations that can make this happen.Client side issues, Server side issues, and Client-Server communication issues. While the Client side issues are important, they should not be accounted for as the WvW should be working in at least the Minimum system requirements. Server side issues are easy to enhance (boosting the server machine with better components), but i believe that they are fine as they are. Communication is what is making the culling happening. The amount of data required @ every given time is very high. Specially in stressful situations like zergs, it is too big for the server to handle. Some safety procedures exists and that’s whats making the culling by imposing a limitation to the max amount of data @ any given time. If this procedures didn’t exist, we would face a lot of disconnects as the network couldn’t handle the huge influx of information given from the clients (Narrowing to the extent of crashing).
Some quick fixes can lighten the communication. One of them is rendering pre-existing models (with same outfit, same colours, same visual effects) on stressful situations (big PvE events and at WvW). That would surely reduce the amount of data received from the clients and sent from the server to the clients. Although this is not pretty and the people may not like it, it is a good suggestion!
The bottom line, culling will always going to exist. The key here is to determine how much to have and how much it can interfere with the WvW experience.

Oh, so your actual answer is “Nowhere, currently.” Instead of trying to get legit 1v1s in WvW I should just go to sPvP with guildies and duel while ignoring the rest of the players in the map… That makes sense (not).
…Instead, is better to go to the WvW doing something else other than what the rest of players that are working hard on the map needs, and keeping a working player on the queue, because of a selfishness act, consequence of a function of the game not being yet implemented?
Yeah… u must have a point there … that i fail to see!
Ahh right, I’m occupying a queue slot in Maguuma’s nonexistent queue. I guess I should also make sure that I’m working For The Greater Good when my server has been rolling +400 ppt the whole time in another snorefest blowout instead of having some fun with the outmanned servers. Better go PvDoor some more to work on those “Map Needs!!!”
I lol’d… no point arguing…
Cheer up people, GW2 is a solid game that isn’t going anywhere.
Take a deep breath, relax, and CHILL OUT.
Gw2 might not go anywhere but I am. 15th patch notes showed how clueless devs are and I have no interest to play this thief wars game. Back to WoW. Cya.
A lot of people were expecting exactly what they wanted! It’s impossbile to offer a game that can meat everyone’s expectations. Adjustments are being made to the game though. Even more content is being added everyday. But even so, it’s not enough?
What is the accepted time to a game to have it’s features adjusted and the bugs corrected? 1 day? 1 month? 1 year? How about other MMO games? How long was their time?
Quitters will always quit!
Agree
Commanders should be able to message a lot!
Good patch…
Darn … My Illusionist berserker can’t pass the wall to attack something else in the other side! And i thought ghosts could pass trough walls…
Keep it comming!
Although i get your point, i believe it’s the players choice to decide if they want to go to the events or to the battlefield. Every decision have it’s consequences, and the
consequences of the skipping the battlefield is the possibility to loose a tier!
But 1 thing i may say:
With a lot of work, tiers can be raised.
With a lot of work, special events can’t.
So decide well what u wish to do!
If only Moa Morph would be a combo finisher that with a Fire Combo Field turn into KFC Hot Chiken Wings…

WvW is no place to e~pens nor to arranged duels!
Then where the hell do I go to arrange duels?
I Believe that ANet said they were adding this feature on one of their upcoming PvP patches/Major Updates!
Let me see if i understood correctly:
- Invaders were easily identified by a shady way, by clicking report? No wonder it was corrected -> Not intended!
Quick list of benefits and harms about players being identified in WvW:
Benefits:
- Respect – Players will know the best!
- Combined matches 1-1 – Can be done!
Harms:
- Griefing from the ones killing ;
- Raging from the ones dying ;
So in my point of view neither of those Benefits and Harms is good for the WvW scenario. WvW need people to work for the Server by capping points, securing points and having a good strategic asset! WvW is no place to e~pens nor to arranged duels!
Fine as it is!
@ a WvW stand of view – Worthless (better to use Time Warp or even Mass Invisibility than that)
@ sPvP – Useful, but only on few situations!
I don’t agree that it would be a stalemate. A stalemate scenario would be the probable scenario if only 2 forces entered in equation. However, in a 3 force scenario, other things enters in the equation:
- I will focus mainly on EB. By this i am assuming that each of the borderlands is equally distributed throughout the servers evenly.
- When talking about EB, then one must have SM castle. This creates an odd point for the one defending. While the other two can have a bigger force attacking and defending their side of the EB, the owners of SM cannot defend SM and attack and defend their side at the same time, so :
If A owns SM, B and C don’t, it’s logical that B and C are in a stalemate. However, B can attack A side to force them out SM, C can do the same or attack SM to force them defend it. Also, while C is attacking, B can steal C’s points.
The unpredictability of a 3-way system lies just there. There is no defined strategy.
For example, if i am B and C is attacking A @ SM, then it makes no sense clearing A’s supply camps. Doing so would create a choke point on A, and might make them fall to C. Is better to take the towers and keep, then the supplies to maximize the points got while A was defending C. But i can also take supplies to ease C’s pain of taking SM and by this removing the reinforcements of SM, for a later takeout. I can drive to C’s side and start taking C’s points, while C is doing just that!
A big amount of possibilities arise from a 3-way system, but that’s the role of the strategists to analyze and to the commanders to enforce. Yes, because in a competitive WvW, the commanders are not there to define the strategy, they are there to lead the platoons. The strategist must be stood still and checking the map 100% of the time!
Hope i could help!
This topic has long derailed!
Farewell [KISS] and have fun wherever you might go, as it’s suppose to be in a game!
/close topic!
Slippy slope. After 3 months, now, you have new gear that is more powerful, thus becoming the “must get” items. People will just rush to the new dungeon to get these gear, making the current dungeons useless.
For now rings and backpack is not so bad right, but this is the start. When ascended weapons and gear come out, as Anet says it will, then all their current content will be invalid at once.
Unless you are one of those rare players that will grind for 2nd best gear, when you could be grinding for the best.
Also Infusions act as a gate, forcing people to progress linearly from dungeon to dungeon. For hard core players it is ok, but GW2 is supposed to be for casual players. It has a large base of such players. After awhile they will not be able to compete with all those grind to pass the gate.
Thus many will stop playing. I stopped playing WoW because at top level, I found that I cannot do more then 1/4 of the end game content because I do not have the “special” gear.
Now GW2 is going that way. It is sad. Also it is a turn about on their policy of no gear progression at end game.
^This is my concern.
Atm you have dungeons tiered for the same quality gear, where the difference is just the looks. However, introducing a brand of more powerful items will make these old instances obsolete.
So, i would say, proceed with care!
Dee Jay, I’ll quote from earlier to demonstrate why this change bothers me
In addition, think of the loss of this experience: taking the orb from the altar and running it back to your garrison, all in the meanwhile trying to defend the enemy from killing your orb carrier and resetting it/ stealing it. It’s one of my favorite moments in WvW when an orb is on the move and it just goes crazy trying to secure it. By removing the orbs of power, we will no longer have this experience available to us. I highly urge Anet to fix the altar problem and put them back in (maybe modified)
And then a hacker “harry potters” it away! Very fun indeed!
In my opinion WvW will benefit from the loss of Orbs:
- Orbs gave to the dominating side, a extra boost of all stats, increasing the difficulty of evening the odds.
- Orbs were very easy to be hack-stolen.
Will borderlands loose with it? No
The very reason is because of the total overall points!
The majority will want to capture important points. Stonemist is the top at EB, and the Garrisons the top at the borderlands. It’s a matter of pride.
But i also think that some adjustments are needed in the WvW. That ridiculous “outmanned” buff is a case of that. Why do i need more boost in MF, Exp and karma? How’s that will keep me playing WvW when some other side is dominating? I’m gonna loose anyway, so why to compete? That’s the reason why so many are quitting atm. Absolutely no tools to fight back! If only “outmanned” gave some advantages… (like +5 Supllies for creating defenses without “a lot” of people), than it could be a lot better.
But hey, keep the good work!
The way i see it, are points needed for qualifying to some tournaments.
Example:
- Tournament A for teams with qualifying points = or > than 200, with x prize
- Tournament B for teams with qualifying points = or > than 400 with 2x prize
- …
It’s a good thing to start making different “leagues” between the sPvP teams, for future tournaments!
I don’t see them as a rating system at all. Nothing to do with Loose/Win Ratios. A lot of sports (real sports) use similar system to enter some tournaments!
ninnnnnjaI feel like for you to say that, means you do not play sPvP/tPvP all that much. My opinion/rant is based on the fact that I play sPvP and tPvP exclusively, mainly tPvP – and it is VERY far from perfect. Speaking in terms of competitive play, it is next to impossible to have REAL competition in the game as it is. Reason: No rankings/ladders/matchmaking/custom tournies. <- some things that should have been implemented in the game on release, but had to skip on in order to release the rest of the game.
^ this!
Two months old? A lot of content at this point. A lot more will appear in time.
E-Sport? They said they wanted it to be one, not that it would begin as one! Very differently. MMoRPG’s are very hard to be E-Sports due to some reasons!
Class balance? Always a work in progress!
My oppionion about tPvP – ESports:
- It lacks some more playing styles (capture the flag, etc, etc…)
- It lacks a true ranking system (players just don’t play for peanuts)
- Classes need some minor balancing!
- Custom tournaments? They are needed!
- Private matches? Needed for training, etc etc
- Spectator mode? Good feature for training and learning
And if you by chance think this mode is failing you probably aren’t looking carefully. A lot of teams are very regular on training and tournaments!
Overall : This game needs more TIME for the E-SPORTS picture! It’s only has been 2 months since the start of the game, and yet people are ranting about it. Developing is not an easy task, specially at this level! If anyone don’t like the way it is done, no1 is forcing you to stay!
This probably has been already said in here, and sorry if i’m repeating, but i think this is important because it is confusing the sellers.
The problem is: The trading post is stealing our gold!
With this i mean that when we are selling something we have to pay posting fee (~5% of the selling price). It shows also the value that you will get when the items are sold.
However, this is not happening because after they have been sold we get a lower value (cut in ~10%) than we should receive like it was shown when we put the items for sell. So, someone is stealing our gold! Please fix this!
PS: I think the one who developed the Trading Post is a Skritt descendant! -_-
It charges a 5% posting fee, and a 10% fee on successful sale. That’s been explained multiple times already. I don’t like it, but it’s not a bug.
If this is intended, it is plain stupid.
When you pay the 5% fee, the value that appear as the total selling price should be the gold you get back. If they want to make this system as it is now, they should add the value that will be received (with the 10% fee) in case of a successful sell and prior to the actual sell.
If someone is working with the TP and actually trying to make a profit of their hard work they could loose money (if their profit is under 15% globally), simply because they were not expecting that fee!
As an example:
I want to sell a sword for 100g.
The trading post says that to sell that sword for 100g i have to pay a fee of 5g (5%)!
After the sell, i get 90g (cut of 10%), without prior notice!
If i have bought the sword for 90 gold to sell it for 100g, to have a profit of 5g after the 5% posting fee,i will loose money because instead of having a profit of 5g, i will have a loss of 5g (due to the ninja fee)!
I can’t find many dumb thing in this game, but truth be told, this is one of them!
Not fine to me. Fix it please!

Personally, an overflow WvW is just a band aid. You want to play with the team in actual.
How about not an overflow server but additional maps? I don´t see why Arenanet should be limited to four WvW-Maps per matchup.
Larger maps or more people per map would be preferable but I see that that is technically difficult. But simply adding more zones to fight in shouldn´t be a problem. Arenanet could even clone one of their existing PvE-maps, thats better than nothing. Add a few keeps, towers and camps.
Open and close those extra-maps as needed.
That´s surely nothing that can be done in days but maybe in weeks.
In a medium to long deadline, I also think that this is the way to do it, but it needs a lot of more time to develop. One/Parts of these maps, could have underwater combat, imbued jumping puzzles for faster access, etc. With the current amount of people i believe that adding 3 more maps should be perfect (total of 7) (middle maps between home server and EB), although some portals should be added to Lion’s Arch too…
In a short time solution and as someone has already said:
- Allow free transfers only to empty servers.
- Rewards new players to go to empty servers (with some bonus).
- Display queue timer and place on the queue to play.
- Maintain the slot for the player that was dc to enter without enter again in the queue.
- Increase a tiny bit the maximum player cap.
