I’m sorry to say.
If the source is this “supposedly leaked” source : http://pastebin.com/2rrFg9pS ,then i honestly fail to understand how the Ranger was nerfed… I actually think it was boosted…
Where did you see the changes about rangers?

Care to tell what patch notes you are referring?
@LHound
We aren’t forced to grind Fractals however. I’ve never set foot in the first instance. Never wanted to. And do not have a single piece of ascended gear on any of my characters. And have I been hurt by this or put at a disadvantage? No. As long as I avoid those ‘zerkers and the one instance they’ve all decided to grind I don’t heakitten ep about needing ascended gear. And we all know those ‘zerkers are a….special case.
Arkham,
This is where you get it wrong. To get ascended you were forced to grind fractals. Just to reach lv10 you need to do 5*4+5*3=35 fractals (rooms). This was clearly against the Manifesto, and cause the rage against Anet.
No one is discussing if the Ascended gear is better or not than others, and if it makes difference having Ascended gear.
Now, there is more than one way to get ascended gear. Quite different, no?
Please note that i don’t like fractals, reason that my main character is only at fractals lv2.
The problem with Ascended Gear is when it was released, players were forced to do content (Grind the crap out of Fractals). However with the latest introductions of Ascended Gear trough dailies, guild events and WvW, there is more than one viable option to get them. Therefor, i believe that now it don’t contradicts with the original ideas shown in the Manifesto!
Step 1)
Balance difficulty/time investment for reward
That’s it. There is no step 2.
Look at all the godkitten complaints in this forum, and you’ll see how all of them could be avoided if that rule was stuck to.
I find amusing how you claim your solution is the holy grail for all of GW2 problems and all the ranting on the forums. The honest truth is there isn’t a single solution to the problems. Gw2 was created to bring entertainment to a multiple type of crowds. Social players tend to feel the game is too hard (grind cosmetics, work for the legendary, work for gold), Heavy MMoRPG players think the game is too bland (no content, no effort, no objectives), E-Sports players looked for competitiveness ( and found none).
If i could chose one thing that need a change, it would be the “Make things the way you like” motto. It drives away the “reward for effort”, and sets the “Gold dependency” within all the game:
- How to reward effort. This is how i like Anet to get an answer!
When you use a healing skill, you and all nearby allies gain regeneration for 5 seconds. (Cooldown: 10s)
Healing skill -> 6th skill in the skill bar:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Healing_skill
- In other games how many grinded a dungeon just to get a piece of equipment that still never dropped?
- In other games how many of you crafted items with proc. effect, that never did proc? These are RNG effects too!
Yes. And there are reasons why a lot of people stopped playing those other games and came here.
Instead finding out that in this regard GW2 wasn’t any better than all those other games, regardless of the prelaunch developers’ hype.
No.
As marnick said in those previous games, the RNG was a key factor for you as a player advance in the game. In this case it only affects the cosmetics.
My point is to demonstrate that RNG exised in other games. It’s wasn’t properly invented by ANet.
Oh kitten kitten kitten…
If you automate the cat is it allowed in Gw2?
Wow. If I were to read this post without ever having played GW2, id probably be as impressed as the majority of this thread. Serious question, how can you guys be so content with this? Anet FINALLY get’s a couple of things right and this thread is making it seem like they’ve revolutionized the cure for cancer.
Some players rage for little changes, some players thanks for little changes too.
Other players rage for huge changes, other players thanks for huge changes…
It’s not a matter if this changes suffice or not. But good work, small or huge should always be rewarded. In this case, a simple “Great Job, ANet” is enough to break the Adam’s Family house mood!
Well, i guess ppl don’t understant very well the racing mini-game.
Each individual Moa has indeed a 20% chance of 1st place, 20% on 2nd and 20% on 3rd place.
1st place rewards 140 silver;
2nd place rewards 60 silver;
3rd place rewards 20 silver;
So, you have 40% of chance of having profit, and 60% of loosing less than 30 silver. I believe it’s good odds, because statistically the “house” always have to win (gold sink needed to remove gold from the system).
Another case, where players blame the system for their bad luck…
I want to like this game I really do. But I cannot find a class I like! I have tried a bunch if classes and seem to not like them / delete them around level 10. I have managed to make it to level 41 on a necro but it seems clunky and is now flowing well with me.
I tend to play healing classes in MMOs and as this game has no trinity (which can be a good thing) I am trying to find a DPS class that flows. I hate to use WoW references because not all of you played WoW but I played every healing class, and the DPS classes I enjoyed where Death Knight and Warlock.
I thought necro would be right up there but so far I have been disappointed with the various builds I have tried. Any suggestions on which class to try next? I will try and stick with it past level 10 :/.
Try the elementalist. It has a tremendous Versatility. They can have healing builds, and it was pretty fun to level up as far as i remember…
/cheers
I am going to move these over to the BLTC Forum, because I know the devs are active there and they may be able to offer you suggestions on a resolution. If you have tickets, though, feel free to post back on the Account Issues forum, say, tomorrow with your ticket number.
Thanks for understanding.
Cmon Gaile…. now, it made me feel like i’m talking to a brick wall in the other zones in the forum.
…
Can’t wait to see what level 80 entails.
I won’t tell you to not spoil the surprise… Let’s hope you are not a hardcore grinder/farmer/player!
Because the cashshop RNG feeds of the social downfall caused by the economic crisis and just exploits those who can’t resist it. It’s worse then gambling. (i made a long post about this a few months ago, stacked with social and economic expert opinions, it was removed for being a “conspiracy theory”.)
If boxes in a cashop in an MMO cause the downfall of society and economic crisis … that’s textbook conspiracy nonsense. Your"experts" are probably experts for hire or other scam artists. As such your thread was rightfully removed.
Feeding off =/= causing. Read that part again.
Indeed, and it’s not just conspiracy theory, the tactics NC-Soft is using are actually forbidden in my country cause they fall under the false advertisement and gambling law (as it is stated that any object that is sold for real money must have the exact thing you pay for, or an accurate possibility of the chances, even our lotery has those chances(in very small letters) on them.) If i wasn’t a student i’d take em to court.
You’re not buying RNG boxes with real money. That’s the out. You’re buying GEMS with real money which have no value. You’re buying boxes with gems, which can’t be construed as gambling because you’re not spending real money.
It’s a legal loophole, but since those gems can be spent on costumes, buffs, bank slots etc, there’s no way you can say you’re spending real money on random RNG boxes.
Although true, let’s not start it again Vayne. We had a topic about the legal aspect about gambling inside the game that vanished into thin air….
I believe that nowadays everyone complains about RNG, just because they do. In this game is getting ridiculous epic proportions. Let’s look at some cases:
- In other games how many grinded a dungeon just to get a piece of equipment that still never dropped?
- In other games how many of you crafted items with proc. effect, that never did proc? These are RNG effects too!
RNG needs to exist in games. As such, there are players who are favored and others that aren’t.
Still haters gonna hate!
I don’t quite agree with WoW type comparisons. You definitely could run the same dungeon twenty times or more in WoW for a piece of gear, but you also knew the loot table percentages, and you knew you’d get it eventually.
The ‘shinies’ in WoW were essentially raiding gear and mounts/titles from difficult encounters pre Pandaria/Cataclysm. When I (rarely) saw a player with the Light of Dawn achievement for LK25 man back in WoTLK, I knew that player was likely to be very skilled. I coveted my measly 25 man Kingslayer title for the limited time I had to play back then…in fact I didn’t even do it for the gear, though of course I needed it to progress.
The proper equivalent in WoW is really rare world drops. My mage way back in the day hoped for a long time to get an Eye of Flame…ended up buying one off the AH. Rares like that were very rare. But even those who farmed incessantly knew their drop chances weren’t great. WoW was a great game, once upon a time.
I never played WoW, so i can’t compare it to Wow. By the looks of it, you probably never played AION. If you did, in the early’s there was a nasty thing named “Hot Heart of Magic”. That RNG kitten made tons of players quit!
I have three tickets after opening boxes. I’m lucky – loving the pistols my engineer is wielding. But I don’t think the proper comparison is between WoW dungeon/raid gear and GW2 skins. The real issue in my opinion is that there doesn’t appear to be any balance between a ‘skill marker’ and random drop chance. I never see a person in game and think “They must have been skilled to get that item.” Since cosmetic items are essentially the equivalent of WoW shinies, a lot of people want them, but how much skill is involved in getting them? There’s none at all involved in obtaining these dragon skins.
MMOs use plenty of intermittent reinforcement to keep players coming back for more, and though GW2 is my favourite MMO I have to say….I valued the shinies I got in WoW more than these random drops, despite how people like to complain about gear grind, because I knew I’d earned most of them. And I think there’s too much RNG in GW2 right now…for me it’s just a balancing issue.
That is a different thing, and not really about RNG is it? That’s the value of effort in this game. Story for a different thread!
I use MSI afterburner and i like it a lot.
i thought it would be cool if there was a rune set that focus around dodge.
1 piece = 2% faster dodge regeneration rate
2 piece = 10% vigor duration
3 piece = 2% faster dodge regeneration rate
4 piece = 5% chance to gain 10% dodge on hit (10 second cd)
5 piece = 2% faster dodge regeneration rate
6 piece = -10% dodge costleave thought comment idea.
Allow me to correct your idea with the right terms:
1 piece = +2% Endurance regeneration rate
2 piece = +10% vigor duration
3 piece = +2% Endurance regeneration rate
4 piece = +5% chance to recover 10% Endurance on hit (10 second cd)
5 piece = +2% Endurance regeneration rate
6 piece = -10% Endurance cost on dodge roll
It’s a good idea, but these kind of builds may bring problems if someone is allowed to create a perma. dodge type of build with those runes! But i would like to see more effects like this on runes also!
They could make a resident carnival fair in the game where players can experience the past minigames and chalenges! Heck, they could also, give somesort of tokens upon Winning to redeem a skin from the past! So many things that could be done…
PS: I sure would love to do again the Clocktower JP :p

RNG needs to exist in games. As such, there are players who are favored and others that aren’t.
IMO the problem that GW2 had about chests was their cash shop dependency, their odds being unknown, their not rewarding failure. The reward distribution was indeed different among players. They pretty fixed a lot with this patch and with the coffers:
1/ They added Coffers and Rich Coffers (Cash Shop and non cash shop chests)
2/ They increased the chance of coffers to drop (It’s better to open 10000 @ 0,0005% for ticket than 10 @ 0,5%. It gives a more evenly distribution as the sampling is way bigger).
3/ Failure can be rewarding. You can buy wings with candy (should be extended to other rare and very rare items)
4/ Odds still could be released, but, with the enormous sampling of coffers, it could be guessed with a fairly decent accuracy!
Still haters gonna hate!
The fact that you made two types of RNG boxes. Coffers and Rich Coffers. In the past, we’ve all hated the fact that the “cool stuff” was locked to cash shop RNG boxes. We love that you can now get just about everything by playing the game and spending time and not being FORCED to spend real money. Tons of us are college students, we appreciate this.
So you were one of the few people that got a ticket on 100-250 coffers, great!
You should know though that people have opened 4000+ Coffers without getting a ticket. The RNG is insane, and imo the way we acquired SAB-Weapons were much better. There should at least be a way that does not involve RNG, because I gave up getting the weapons when i heard the Rich Coffers did not guarantee a ticket.Edit:
I didn’t hesitate buying Brahams Shield for real money, but spending money on RNG? Nice try Anet, not going to happen!
OP has a very good point.
RNG systems pretty much have to exist in every game. If you look at the chests that appeared since the beginning and their availability, this is a great improvement! It’s true that some unlucky ppl opened 4000 coffers and no ticket dropped. There are cases where 1 coffer was enough to reward that same ticket. However you hear only the bad side of the story!
One of our resident commentators (can’t remember who) have said that the solution should be to reward failure as well. Allowing the wings to be redeemable out of candy is a good way to go, definitely an improvement. The tickets and minis should be allowed too (even 10x more expensive).
The fact is that we can’t blame RNG in everything, and that’s what we see in this forum everyday. Blame your luck instead!
PS: I also opened more than 4000 chests and still not a ticket seen. That does not invalidates that they are more available than previously! Good step IMO.
Double exposure.
I love when people try to do the mods job.
Who’s doing mod’s job? Informing the rest of those that are willing to share an opinion on this thread, that there is already a thread with the same “Exact” content in another place is doing’s Mod’s Job?
ridiculous… to say the least…

The answer to your question is YES.
Although the Sigil is set in main or offhand weapon, it’s effect it’s global. By this i mean that it will proc. on crit. in any of the 9 skills (if damaging skills).
The stacking sigil only adds a stack when killing a foe with the Sigil equipped on active weapons at that moment. If you swap weapons, the stack will not go away and gives u that boost, but does not increase the amount of killing.
If you are unsure about the effects, jump into the heart of the mists and try them there for free. It’s rather easy
You may want to read this article on the wiki about sigils:

At the moment, I am patching the game and as this is my 1st time playing, I wanted to know what the best starting race/profession is.
I am more drawn towards human atm for 3 reasons,
(1) I have seen the starting mission at the BETA thing, so i know what to do.
(2) Humans seem to be the most neutral of all races.
(3) Due to the (assumed) neutral nature of them, I assume that the human areas in the in-game world will be in the centre, making it easier to decide where I want to go.As for profession.,..I’m not sure which one is best for 1st time players.
Humans are not the most neutral race!
Maybe Asura or Sylvari, but not Humans.
Class is up to you, but maybe Guardian or Elementalist.
What about fixing the RNG model first instead of creating a more distinct cash-shop elitism between the hard working players and the big cash spenders?
I believe you misinterpreted the meaning and value of these side/celebration events like dragon bash, Halloween, Christmas, and so on! They are meant to provide players with some different things with the the same core resources they have with the rest of the game.
- Main game and Living Story – Need to stick to Manifesto guidelines!
- Side events – Not necessarily need to follow the same guidelines!
TL;DR – The answer to your question – NO!
It all sums up to this:
There were some gods, they left!
There are some dragons, they let the minions do their dirty work!
There are some races, Charrs > The others except humans > Dead Humans > Humans!
Quaggans are cute!
Ghosts are like fleas! I hate fleas!!!

Nice thread!
While am i not optimistic with GW2 as i were in the early beginnings, i can still imagine the look on the new players face, when experience the game for the first times. Sometimes even i help them doing Story steps that may be to hard for them, killing a Veteran, chapion, or even “beaming” them up to the end of JP. I often search for the Bounty NPC’s when someone ask for them in the zone chat.
In WvW i tend to kill the invaders fast, instead of thief-toying with them It’s more “humain”.
/Cheers
+1 for the optimistic thread!
A lot of dust in the wind now…
Mystic Clovers.
Mystic Clovers are pointless after you get the amount you need for the legendary. If only players could exchange those for something else or downgrade them to some materials it would be an effective way of introducing T6 materials.
/cheers
Well i understand the OP, although somethings i can’t agree.
New content being release every month is brilliantly made. The living story is a wonderful way of adding new content, that evolves, making the time really flow. However it lacks some depth.
Players are leaving without things to strive for. We can see that everyday in our guilds (obviously there are guilds with the opposite effect, specially those guilds made for WvW…).
There is grind in this game. However, grind is not a needed aspect of the game. It’s instead a cosmetic choice. In the end, you have two choices. Or you grind for cosmetics, or you play without grind the way you like!
I can’t say what this game needs to boost the will to play. But if definitively needs something. It is grinding? Is it competitiveness? Is is social interaction? I don’t know. Having GvG is a good start. But how to please the PvE players? What do PvE needs? That’s the real question… But setting effort into the equation is a place to start, instead of giving things for free/almost free!
I bet many of you game addicted are passing through that “withdrawal” process as i am, entering the game and not knowing what to do!
/Cheers
Soulbound on Use! → How it is now

Account bound on craft! – The way i see it should be

I’m in the favor of having fun. Minigames aren’t SPvP and shouldn’t be held to the same standards.
I’m also in favor of having fun, as long as any rule hasn’t been broken.
Crab Toss is a form of Player VS Player. Maybe not Structured, but PvP still. Or we play with the rules or we don’t. Black or White! There isn’t a grey area here!
As someone has already stated:
…
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-rules-of-conduct/22. While participating in Plaver-vs-Player (PvP) gameplay, you will not participate in any form of match manipulation. Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder. This also includes disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching.
…
This came from the rules!
Facts:
- Crab Toss is a Player VS Player gameplay minigame. Therefore is it ruled by the article 22 quoted above.
- Match manipulation is forbidden by the above rule.
- Players actions disrupted the OP gaming, through match manipulation as well as by insulting him.
Rules are Rules!
I am always in favor or upholding the rules, whatever they may be. Crab tossing match making rules violation is as important as hacking and as exploits. We can’t have a stance on one thing and a stance on others!
I understand why they did that, particularly from being bad at crab toss. But being bad, having huge latency or content being temporary don’t give anyone the freedom to break them.
I understand how trivial this may be and penalties would surely not exist. But, i am particular amazed how people are bashing on the OP because he stumbled upon a case of rules breaking, and yet he has the fault of not leaving! This is indeed pathetic!
Right because what they’re doing is game-breaking. OMG someone got an achievement point. I got every single achievement without playing this way, btw, including winning a match. I simply lucked out on that, by getting into an arena early right after a reset, so I was one of two people in there for most of the match. The rest of the achievement were just a matter of playing until I got them all. Crabtacular I got by accident.
The point is, this is a game. There’s nothing involved here but a couple of achievements. Some people need to lighten up.
Is acceptable to get the same achievement point, by hacking? By your logic, there is no problem. It’s only for 1 achievement point, right? This is a game…
Rules are rules, and they are not to be bent, whatever the purpose (1 AP, or +9000AP) they are looked to.
Just follow the general guidelines about flipping:
1/ Selling price * 0.85 > Buying Price
2/ Low priced items sells faster than high priced items
3/ Find a good flipping item, and see how the prices go in a week period
4/ Never flip an item that only exists 1 or 2 at the TP. The chances of they are overpriced and no1 buying are high!
5/ Always keep a keen eye about the market, trends and updates. Take care about speculation, it can be problematic!
And because you asked what items to not flip, don’t flip Globs of Ectoplasm. Fails on nº1!
/Cheers
This is pathetic,
Taking turns to get the crab toss achievement is really match making. Crab Toss mini-game is PvP as you play against other players. Let’s not “bend” the rules just because that stuff is temporary, because you suck at the game, or because you have latency issues. No one is responsible for the other guy’s latency issues, and he never should be.
And to those, saying that the OP should leave when finding this kind of playing, it’s just supporting a rule infringement. Why not hacks, while we’re at it? Shame…
I can honestly tell, that if it happened to me, i’d be there to spoil the fun of those cheaters for a long time, as i do when i find duels in WvW!
/Cheers
The point is those people and classes that are seen as undesirable can still do their job without a DPS meter. The only groups they are excluded from is the Zerker-Warrior-ping-gear groups.
No one else gives a kitten and quite happily do their stuff.
DPS meter is not necessary and will not really help anyone because no matter how good your intentions are I bet you 2 hours down the line that those same Zerker-Warrior- ping-groups will be abusing it.
Again this game is not supposed to be DPS or get out.edit: “Yeah. Play like you want. But truth is: berserker, maximum dps or suck and are useless.
Therefore +2 for a dps-meter, even if you can choose if it’s visible for other players or not.”And there we go
I agree that we don’t need a DPS Meter. Not on this game!
I find amusing how popular belief leads ppl to take for granted that Full Berserker is the higher DPS build when almost all Full berserker players stays 50% or more of the time in downed state.
In this game we should be looking for the highest DP10S instead of the highest DPS.
/cheers
LHound, how would that help alleviate “timer-camping” them? People already do it due to easy loot, and you want them to increase their loot? Add minis and special skins to dungeons I say!
Although I haven’t played the new event yet, I think meta-events, at least in zones 60+ should be interesting, if not somewhat challenging bosses that reward decent loot when killed. Unlocking merchants, areas or long-lasting effects on the whole zone are nice features too. In what part does it disappoint you OP?
“Timer camping” bosses will never cease to exist! The situation, is the why people goes to them. Why people play specific content? I find quite stupid to kill a dragon and hey, i got some rare helmet… It’s all about how content affects the playerbase.
Sure, players go kill Shatterer, Tequatl, Claw of Jormag, Behemoth…
But to they really go to the “Eye of Zhaitan” and the Temples? Why? They are on timers too. Simplye because they don’t need them!
Killing World Bosses on this game is a convenience, not a needed thing. Adding individual tokens to each World Boss, would surely make it worthwhile. Combining dragon tokens to get something different. Flame Shaman tokens plus the Dredge Comissar tokens could give u the jetpack/Minis (as they are Molten combined).
The problem with the queen is the same problem with the rest of the world bosses. It’s fine to kill them for the loot, but we don’t really need them. Due to that, ppl only appears on the maps, to kill them when they appear on timers.
If only they dropped some sort of individual tokens that could be redeemable at individual npc’s. Like 1 token per kill/day: Mini’s, tonics, and so much things could be in there (even specific weapons like the Gargoyle skin from S.behemoth) They are so underated atm…
First of all, let me say i’ve never played a thief in Gw2. I know thief by simply playing against it on WvW and on PvE.
There are some thiefs that run an almost Perma-Stealth build. Hit and Cloak all the time. Although they are glass cannons i feel that there is something wrong with them. These are some questions that i bring up:
.1 – Cloak is a powerful mechanic, but i never understood how it can’t be revealed by some conditions. Bleeding is one of those, or is the blood left on the ground cloaked too?
.2 – I never understood why the cloaking mechanic don’t bring any catch. Any mechanic needs to have it’s drawbacks. But stealth don’t have any. I see Thiefs in WvW, killing 5 targets easily just by doing [Pick target, cloak, hit hard, cloak again, repeat]. The use of the basilisk venom makes it worse!
Salvaged 1 rare, got me 3 ectos.
i salvaged 50 rares and agen 0nly 1 ecto realy
Are you using the right kits ? Master Salvage kit/BL Salvage kit?
Are you salvaging Rares lvl 70+?
If so, that’s bad luck!

Moa horse race lol. Do I get to be one?
Anyway… mini dragon pet?
The Moa race is a betting game taking inspiration from the 9-rings style betting mini-games from the original festivals in Gw1, but with a little more action involved for each round of bets. The bonus: this activity will remain in the game permanently in Lion’s Arch after the Dragon Bash festival ends.
You don’t get to be a Moa for this specific activity, though you never know what might pop up in future festivals! As one of the people who built roller beetle racing I’d love to see its spiritual successor in Gw2 someday, we might need to wait for beetles to pop up in game though
All lies… the inspiration came from here :

Good job really……
A great farming spot before the living story arrived here, then the cling on zergs arrived and now its nerfed.
I dont normally come onto the forums to have a moan but you guys have really helped the community by having yet another good farming spot nerfed.
so yeah, good job
It does feel nerfed…for the last few days at least. For the first week of this living story, rares were dropping and being pulled from chest like no tomorrow. Now, I might get a rare from a chest every 30 or 45 mins..pretty much once a DR cycle. And with the MF buff, I have 347% Magic find…I dont get many rares from drops in southsun doing the instigator events.
So yeah, I think Anet needs to double check this.
He didn’t meant a perceived behavior about loot. He Meant this:
World: Southsun – Reduced density of Reef Skelk around Pearl Islet @ http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates
Yeah, that’s entirely players fault to try and get some loot from farming!

If environmental weapons:
- Could create combo fields;
- Could create combo finishers;
- Could give boons;
- Be collectible;
I would certainly use them often. As they are now, they are just useless and annoying when doing some events as someone as already stated.
Classes balancing is a very hard subject to handle. While it seems that it may introduce an undesired nerf into that specific class or build, it is meant to create an even distribution about win and loose while using that class.
I don’t know how ANet sees the class balance distribution, but it needs to be similar to other classes. Let’s talk about D/D Elementalist a while ago (before the class balancing). With that class “flaw”, the Elementalist was provided with a unfair advantage towards other classes and it should appear in K/D distribution pushing for a K/D increase. Statistically, the class needs a nerf of somesort!
Class balancing is not a process of “That player is QQ about get beaten and bullied by X class, so its nerf time”. Class balancing is done accordingly to statistics. Obviously when some builds shift the distribution when found, its time for a tone down. It’s always easier to tone down one class, than to boost seven!
