Feature Survey

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LTREEVEY.2348

LTREEVEY.2348

The open comments for each question could be iffy because some people aren’t as “civil” with their passion but a low character limit spot at the end of survey would be reasonable. I also understand what you mean by “only their questions” could be frustrating, but having the ability to even voice our opinion on something before it goes into final production would be a step up from waiting til’ something goes live. Its a form of communication of which we don’t currently have.
Another plus side would be, immediately after releasing the survey, everyone who cares is going to rush the forums and the discussion goes on, creating yet another pool for them look into and draw from.

Aw man. You got my hopes up with that title. No, nah, and hell nah. Lol. However, Cultural Armor Mastery would be nice to see, as in unlocking MORE Cultural Armor for your char’s race. Maybe even a collection hunt. Since we don’t have proper profession specific armor, I would settle for MORE race specific armor, but I can not cosign this one. Sorry.

Feature Survey

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LTREEVEY.2348

LTREEVEY.2348

Long story short. I got an email survey from another game developer pertaining to multiplayer features that might be on the table. Simple Q’s with the 1-10 (not interested-very interested) selections for each question. I have yet played the game for real, but i took the survey.
But upon starting the survey, I immediately(and I mean immediately) thought about Anet and the communication problems we have with devs. We want them to be in the forums on a regular basis sharing what they are up to so that we can yay or nay and “feel” a part.
So the question is, could this(surveys) be a form of communication that the devs find less risky. Throw us Q’s about features/ideas that might be on the table and get a feel from the people. They don’t even have to say kitten. Release one for each game mode so that you have reached out to each player base and sit back.
Thoughts?

It’s the mix of Megaserver fail and timers. It has been mentioned that the megaserver just isn’t clicking with the new Maps. I don’t know if returning to the “NPC Interact” is the best idea, but maybe. I thought the DS approach (certain number of people) to start chain would work but relies heavily on the mega so………fix the Mega?

Trepzacoatl, inspired in the winged serpent from the mesoamerican civilizations Quetzalcoatl.

It’s time to have a bit more diversity in dragon’s design and morphology, all dragons in GW2 seem to come from the western fantasy concept and nordic mythology (or at least they’re inspired by them). I think a great serpent will fit the underwater role perfectly.

Funny thing…i never imagined it being anything other than a great serpent. Only image that makes sense. If that mofo Free Willies out of the water so we can fight him inland…ill be kittened.

The low lvl bosses shouldn’t be harder, but they should have a new mechanic to them. Blind/safe spots should jus be countered by a new attack much in way they are fixing Shatts issue. Shadow Behemoth could pivot, Fire ele could have further range, etc. I can’t remember the fight much, but the Fire Shaman has a halfway decent feature. I just hope with their new attention to old systems and content the boss fight form back into fights.

^^ my coworker told me about this…he was there too supposedly (also just quit the new day1 server they pushed a month or so ago)…but a wander lesser teq would be nice. Played Champions online and there used to be the hulk like dude who jump around the map and occasionally try to wreck players

The eq wandering is far too extreme…unleashing bosses to death touch or nuke entire maps…no fun…but say instead of teq always coming bad to one spot he lands up north or to the west or east and each place has diff mechanics

All of them. So many of them people can still simple AFK and auto attack. I’ve even seen people who do this and complain it takes so long to beat the boss such as Jormag.

I think Jormag will get its update. I don’t want to hype myself up but when they say they want to focus on old content, I think they want to take what they’ve learned from HoT and its new tech/mechanics and apply them to old stuff.
What I really want to see is the big guys (teq, kitten, jormag) becoming “map wide” events. Think Jormag…but with two more phases on two additional spots on the map. I know it might be a bit of a technical strain but I’ve always wondered, why do teq and kitten keep landing on the same spot…they don’t feel alive. But if they had more phases on different parts of the map…Epic?
One can dream…

What possible interest can they generate in support roles?
I played a ranger for a long time and never once thought of it as a support character.
I’m insulted by what’s happened to the toon and it will sit while I gradually strip it of stuff needed by actual combat characters.
I’ll trade the ability to remove 13 conditions off my allies for a 100 damage skill
EVERY TIME.
Goodbye ranger. You were fun to play.

So… Can you no longer play combat on Ranger? Must’ve must seed that patch note. Resurrect your ranger.
And obviously, for some one who had no intentions of playing support, the upcoming changes arent intended for you, but for people who may have tried support and/or healing and were steered away from it for the obvious reasons.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LTREEVEY.2348

LTREEVEY.2348

I am kind of glad I found this as I was going to write a wall (and then edit down to nothing) speaking on a very similar topic.
So this is certainly a bump of sorts, but we need a place where serious, well thought/formulated suggestion pieces can be posted and have some form or interaction associated to it. CDI could be that place, or at least be an example. I also think this New CDI-like thread category should have stricter rules. A dev/moderator could provide us a template to go off as well as refer people back to the official constructive feedback thread. I’m all for community initiative, but I think an Anet sponsored (or Forum Specialist) thread to funnel feedback (for each KEY feature released w/ HoT) could go along way in making the community feel valued.
If anyone would like to make another attempt at trying to collect the minds to a build this new CDI topic, we should probably move it to another thread XD, but we’ve got to make this happen. Thoughts?

“Kitten that! ANARCHY!!”
Every week. Those threads never get anywhere. Neither will this one.

BUT…
Ima spit-ball anyway. I propose(or re-propose), a toggle system for LFG. Literally a short list of toggles that you click to describe your party. Things such as,but not limited to;

Casual or Speedrun
Lvl 80 or Nah
All welcome or [insert] only

And then, if needed, they can still drop any additional information in small limited descript text box, but only after checking the toggles. This way, there is NO MISTAKING, who’s fault whoms, when parties are formed. Make sure there is nothing the poster can mess up/leave un clarified and joiners will Absolutely deserve their kick.

And maybe a report system. Idk.

I had a longer list of toggles but seeing as this isn’t a formal post, ill let yall have at it. Toggle system or no? Additional ideas? Shoot.

To what someone said earlier, I do think these elite specs will get some clarification on the PS or open world. The only one feel really says “I learned this kitten in the jungle”, is Guardian picking up a bow and trying to shoot it. And that’s a stretch. I guess bezerker, chrono, reaper, and tempest just seem more like results of extra training. DD tho? tyria just learned how to punch and we’ve already mastered kiss of the dragon. Lol idk. So if I remember correctly, the elite specs are supposed go along with the theme of maguma jungle. Our professions enter the jungle and as we combat the inhabitants and elements, we learn to techniques to survive. So staff is fine. In fact the skills are cool looking, but I feel like most of these specs are missing the whole, learned in jungle theme. What shaolin temple did we should stumble upon? Did I misconstrued something about learning our specs in the jungle?

Less Shoalin Monk more Robin Hood’s Merry Men…if anyone gets that reference.

PS wtf does the staff go when I started kickcking, punching and kitten

Why "on successful evade" traits are terrible

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LTREEVEY.2348

LTREEVEY.2348

That’s why they are called daredevils. Not for dodging the moment they see the circle but staying in it until the last moment.

Riiiiight, and the engineer is called a forge because they forge weapons and armor … the reverent is called a herald because they shout at people on street corners.

Give me a break. It was called a daredevil because it’s a high risk, high reward playstyle, not because the game developers intentionally wanted players to be at the mercy of the game engine’s evade recognition system.

LOL. What he said was a ridiculous. But lets not jump to DD being a high risk high reward playstyle before its even out, its just one traitline not a whole class. I’m super excited about builds that can stand and fight outside of stealth, but with 2 free traitlines and a weaponswap, its possible (probable?) that the first thing players will try to figure out is a stealth variant of this that is Low Risk Low Reward.

They called it daredevil because the name fits the archetype of an agile rooftop vaulter.

Then they shoulda just called it, Parkour.
Or the transporter, the protector, or Ipman…anything not starring Ben Affleck

Especially in a game, bent for casuals,“balanced” for pvp, and inflicted with zillions of blooms and animations(although nice to see) on evade “windows” can get lost in the animations and network shenanigans, but that’s beside the point. At the moment, this is mostly a concern to thieves, because no other class has nearly as many, on evade procs.

The condition, Slow

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LTREEVEY.2348

LTREEVEY.2348

Lol for the sake of the argument, no weakness and endurance don’t have to be affect directly by chill(under the slow merge) because they would be affected indirectly. If under the effects of chill, your movements/actions/attacks/activations would be slower, so you wouldn’t be able to hit as frequently and thus lowering your attack capabilities. For endurance, if you want to be literal, yea it might reduce your frequency, but per this game, chills movement effect would(or probably should?) affect dodge speed/timing. Also, thief just got a skill(beta) that inflicts slow. Nothing supernatural about throwing daggers.

Trust me I hear your points and I’m not trying to be a kitten.

The condition, Slow

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LTREEVEY.2348

LTREEVEY.2348

Well it is thematically different from Chill given the skills and class that applies it.

It’s like saying roll burning and bleeding into one condition – although they are also thematically different.

I agree there should be more unique effects so conditions don’t feel like they overlap each other in function.

I think bleeding and burning was a bad example as the effects of slow and chill arent thematically different (impairing movement) They are very similar. Slow reduces action/skill speed. Chill reduces movement /cool down speed. To me, if chill reduces movement speed, it should be all movement, including actions and activation. The cool down reducer effect fits confusion far better than it does chill. Chill should be GW1 equivalent of dazed and slow just sounds…stupid

The effects may not be thematically different (slow and chill), but the principles are:
- slowed down and debilitated through being too cold
- slowed down due to supernatural time dilation effecs

What about Weakness – surely then Chill should also incorporate endurance regen reduction and glancing blows because if you’re cold you’re not going to be able to dodge as frequently or hit as hard?

They should remain separate conditions – although I do appreciate there being so many conditions and the condition system is a mess in terms of application, effects and cleansing.

LTREEVEY.2348

Correct but I’ve played a fair amount of pvp/wvw and can’t say my rotations have been screwed by chills secondary effect often. Also, per tool tip, for 1 second of additional cool down, you would need 3s of chill on you. Chills duration barely exceeds 3s unless traited for(my necro) per application. I’m not arguing that the secondary can’t have effect, but the amount chill you need, w/o being removed, is rarely an issue. I could be wrong. But from my experiences using and against chill is mostly used to stop kiters and cover dmg condis.

LTREEVEY.2348

Not sure if this has been brought up already, but does anyone else feel slow should have been part of a ‘chill’ rework? Chill just got a bump in availability(although already accessible) with some of the elite specs, but as far as I can remember has not been part of our normal rotation in pvp or pve. Yes, it does get used for its primary/first effect which is slowing down movement, but the second effect (slows cool-downs) is somewhat underwhelming, considering chills base application is typically less than 3s. Had slow been part of chill, there are already runes, sigils, and consumable to support it. I just don’t understand(or maybe like) it.

Someone educate me. Is chill a regular part of any class/build rotation? Should slow’s effect, have replaced chills second effect or merged together? Is it because I hate the name of the condition? “Slow”? Help me.

On making Healing Power Worthwhile.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LTREEVEY.2348

LTREEVEY.2348

Just thought of another way Healing Power could be put to good use, and it would still encourage skillful play. We just recently got a stamina nerf via Vigor’s 50% reduction.

So I wonder what it would be like if stamina recovery got a bonus based on Healing Power. Crazy thought, and probably overpowered, but it’s worth thinking about.

Again – too strong in pvp, too weak for pve.

And I think the nerf to vigor(less dodge) is actually a way to increase importance of support heals when HoT drops. Not saying that people will spec for HP, but if they are making “better” A.I., nerfing mitigation(loss of boon duration including this new vigor change), nerfs and tweaks to dmg. Mix that with the release of not-so damagey oriented specs. I think Anet is just as ready for a more inclusive meta, as many of you. Only difference is, the time they spend on GW2 is not wasted.

On making Healing Power Worthwhile.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

LTREEVEY.2348

Eh…I still thank the content has to warrant the need for HP on the Meta (if that is still the topic of this thread), but I do want to spit ball. Regardless is the devs read the threads(which they do), reading constructive thoughts is fun, mostly.

I haven’t been able to read a lot of the HP to vitality merge post/threads, so If some one could bullet point one real quick(I did see the one w/ 1% HP per 100 Vit, so not that one).

What if HP was rolled into toughness as a sub stat (Ferocity->Crit Dmg) and it could be called Recovery? This way, players/classes with healing abilities, don’t have to trait to HP, but players can trait to receive MORE, when someone(including themselves) pops
a healing ability.

Spit balling
-Players trait for Toughness and Recover(y) increases by a static amount/percentage; “recover” better than those who do not.
-Tougher player=better self heal
-Tougher player=better incoming heal
-Tougher player=better/more defense against conditions(never thought conditions((or crit dmg for that matter)) should trump bring as much power as possible, but that’s just how I perceive it)
-Tougher player=better effect from regen(literally can’t synergize any better w/ “recovery”) but doesn’t effect any other boons, or boon duration of regen

Problems
-Rework to toughness (to accommodate the new secondary effect)
-Rework to all gear involving HP
-All the reworks effect on PvP/WvW(honestly didn’t think to deep into effects)

Like I said, this isn’t thoroughly thought out, so feel free to point out flaws, tweaks or let me know if this idea has already floated around. I did probably forget some kitten I had thought about while typing, but I’m checking in from work, so…you know.

P.S. Q:Shouldn’t you be working at work? A: Shut up, ain’t kitten to do today.

Hey man, I hear you but, regardless of how annoying some elitist types can seem, the facts are facts. All though you, I and others would like a better healing capable spec, the fact is healing finding its way into the meta will be kitten near impossible if we can get through encounters w/o popping our personal, let alone a heal for others. My secondary is a Guard(shout) and you can still block, protect, and heal a pug group w/o H/pwr.

Only way healing power becomes a thing is if we cant dps our way thru stuff. And that means either a nerf to dmg or a buff to enemies. I prefer the 1st option (because I believe HoT update will provide the 2nd), but hear the rage now.

And asking for healing is not the same as asking for trinity…if it only includes 2/3

But don’t give up hope

I appreciate your realism here, but I’m spitballing ideas as a small part of a larger fix to the game. I didn’t title this thread “the one small fix that will make everyone’s every complaint disappear!” nor did I say that this change will make everyone always want to bring a Healing spec whatever.

and… errr…. of all the classes that can do that without ‘Healing Power’ guardian tops the list.

Right, but you did say you think the meta would except it, no? Regardless, I don’t want to tell you no this wont work, I’m just saying (as you mentioned) this a small part to a larger fix. I want to see variety come to this game too, but I think it would be better received if the content warranted change, not nerfs. When they announced the nerf to might(honestly didn’t think it was nerfed enough) and change to ferocity, I was like, yes! But they followed up with no further changes which meant u still didn’t need anything outside of a block here, a dodge there, and a #6 when we kitten up. I do propose stuff like this though:

-H/Pwr gets the Condi DMG treatment; dramatic scale increase when fully tapped in
-Nerf/Cap on precision; would love to see this but its probably far too late for such a change
-Increase to shareable mechanics; some specs have good personal support but they cant share. My point about Guard resonates here, they don’t have to sacrifice to help because they share everything. Your proposal would mean many sacrifices and chips from the efficiency which would not make it into meta.
-A balance to boons and Each prof(or spec) mastering at a certain type; currently MIGHT far surpasses the importance/usefulness of other boons. I understand that some classes are better than others at obtaining certain boons but not many of them master a boon over the other classes in terms of sharing Just think of a world where Regen mattered.

How to implement said changes is difficult though.

How much about the xpac do yall want to know? Give me a percentage, because what they have told us, pretty much covers it (I don’t know what we are missing) w/o going into details. If GW2 was like every other MMO out there (based around same content principles), then yea, all the things some people are upset about might make sense, but its not…since day 1. So asking for more things like WoW, or changes like ESO, or pieces from FF is silly, if GW is not based on the same principles as those games.

Trust me, I’d like to see more kitten, and the Elite specs are tainted by the word, elite, but, now is the time devs are taking into account feedback. Regardless of what the community(which is not solely represented by the disgruntle in forums) asked for prior to reveals, ANet has been working on the xpac (and these elite specs which were probably cemented in concept months ago).

Back to the post:
The problem is for every feedback thread, a million rage post (kitten near duplicates of from thread to thread) are attached to it, which poison feedback threads. I know all rage post aren’t rage based(just poorly constructed), but they attract ANet supporters which will ALWAYS attract more poison. Its the nature of video game forums. We’ve already seen them try to tweak stuff in between reveals. We will see when HoT drops. They have a vision where they want to take this game. All we can do is give feedback and wait for end product.

On making Healing Power Worthwhile.

LTREEVEY.2348

Make defending Temples the daily too

LTREEVEY.2348

Yea, the defending bit would but a slight improvement, but Orr itself needs a slight buff. I know as the game progress its importance will continue to fade, but a rework or Temples and adding temple participation to the daily, in general, would be ok. I’d like to see each temple a “dungeon like” set of token based armor/weapons.

apparently easily controlled. You need futher study for the benefit of all.

So we were cool until we got here. I beg to differ, IF we were easy to control, Mordy would have never lost control of us, in the first place. See I think GW has tainted our perception of our place in this world. We should be seen more as brave participants rather than Heroes. What some expect to be able to do against Dragons and their Champions is just silly. “No Necros, you should not be able to fear Jormag.” ugh, but that is another discussion.

What I am getting at is, you naysayers claiming we are still tools for Mordremoth. my Sylvari wields Mordrem weapons, but assure you that’s only to fight fire with fire. Our Mother delivered us from the grasp of the dragon. As far as I’m concerned, her feat is more impressive than Glint. She not only freed herself, but a race of people.

p.s. that almost turned into a rant

Playing mainly a Sylvari Ranger, I will probably send him into hiding when HoT is out until the blame rests squarely where it belongs again and should have never been shifted from, on the Asura.

#Nosmurfasuraallowedhere
#Tenguinsteadofasurasmurfs2016

No, don’t hide. Let my brother be free. Let him stand as a beacon of light against the hateful and jealous shadows cast by those unworthy of our friendship. Remember, his all powerful origins from the blood of a dragon, cleansed by the teachings of Ventari, and raised by the love of a Mother.
#4thePaleTree#Thesekittenscantholdmeback#preach

P.s most humans are orphans and only had on friend growing up, the char grow up in boot camp so they love nothing, Norn, worship the spirits, not nature but the bottled up kind. And Asura… -_- disgusting creatures, play with toys…all day

That’s not nice. Mother forgive me. The dragons will, shalt not corrupt me and it is in your love and his teachings that I find peace in the midst of war. My honest apologies to those not born of love.

IT'S HAPPENING! Challenging Group Content

It’s about time! This is the major selling feature for a lot of players.

it is also something that will make a lot of players leave this game for good if this is even put into the game and it is the worst idea ever . doing this it will no longer be guild wars 2 . it might as well be wow and charge to play . just saying

holy hell…he literally just said the same thing less than an hour ago. just saying.

I am in favor of challenging content regardless of what it is, raids, dumbgeons, Super SAB, but they will face opposition if the skill gate is to high for some to climb into. Hopefully they will continue to build bridges for the less skilled/dedicated to take a crack at new challenges

Server raids?

if this is even put into the game and it is the worst idea ever . doing this it will no longer be guild wars 2 . it might as well be wow and charge to play . and it will make pve no longer any fun and will only take away from the game and the players . and a lot of players will leave this game for that reason .

I need you to elaborate on this. Raids will kill the game because they will be the thing to do, or because they will be locked to servers?

Raids…yes. Server locked…no. or maybe even passively. Megaserver wasn’t a bad idea, but not allowing a way to get to pick your map sucks. As long as there is a low cost was to join friends on other serves for a run, I’d be in favor.

I was looking at math on stats for power builds to optimize one of my builds. I hadn’t been aware of just how bad it can get when you try to mix in defensive stats.

What I found is that for power damage, berserker’s > knight’s > soldier’s > celestial. Furthermore, that applies to mixing in all cases. Examples to illustrate this point:
- Mixing in soldier’s is always less damage than mixing in knight’s.
- Full knight’s > any mix of knight’s/soldier’s/celestial.
- Full soldier’s > any mix of soldier’s/celestial.

Celestial looks like a way to round out a power build, but it’s a trap. It’s only good if you’re using the condi damage and healing power too.

As for valkyrie’s and cavalier’s, they result in a damage loss compared to captain’s/knight’s unless you add in external crit chance sources like fury and traits.

The big takeaway is that health has a huge opportunity cost. You have to give up a lot of damage to get health. This is because there’s no P/p/v gear.

o.O? …blink…blink

As an Asuran, I find the Sylvari to be an interesting anomaly worthy of study. One of these days I’ll have to study a few in my lab. However, my lab is currently filled with Quaggans while I research how high their threshold of pain is.
