If you trait shouts with “Pure of Voice”, “Retreat” gives you swiftness 83% of the time. It’s way better than 25% speed something.

In Pve ok but NOBODY traits shouts as a roamer. You lose your Mediation traits….

You’re going to lose something anyway, since you either have to take it as a signet (bye bye 1 utility) or as a trait (possibly from a line you don’t normally take or it will replace something you need).

Here’s an idea. Give Guardians a trait that gives +25% movement speed but put it in the Valor traitline as a grandmaster. Then watch as all the guardians get salty about having to sacrifice a traitline for +25% movement speed. Then they’ll realise why they should just be quiet and be happy with their adequate swiftness capabilities.

To keep a rant short, Ranger is the only profession to have double radii on skills. Stop it.

All Necro marks and Dragonhunter Traps have a double radius. So no, Rangers aren’t the only ones to have it.

Yes to a condi range weapon (Pistol if one handed, Rifle if 2 handed – we don’t have enough professions using them).
No to hybrid weapons. They make me sick.

I’m not sure why. Never mind that they enable hybrid and experimental builds, but they also add a lot more cross-build flexibility to a profession, significantly expanding gameplay options. Bluntly, I don’t like that literally my only choice is Mace/Axe for a condi-focused build or S/x for a power based build on the Revenant, even when only considering melee options.

Because, for the most part (to paraphrase the Mighty Boosh), hybrid weapons combine two damage types to create something not quite as good as either.
As for weapon options, I get where you’re coming from. But from a balancing point of view, its easier to limit the amount of weapons each profession has. Else you get a clusterkitten of useless weapons like Warriors have.

This is the only reason I haven’t made Nightfury. I wear the Noble outfit but Nightfury doesn’t show on Outfits. And even if I was to show my armour instead, it would be ruined without my current shoulder piece.
I’d prefer if they just changed all the shoulder/infusion/upgrade slot auras into toggled effects. Add a new slot on the Hero panel that lets you bind auras across all characters (people with multiple can then sell their excess), and allow auras to be toggled on each character.

If u poke around too much about class balances you ll get warnings from moderators and a few days blocked on forums. has happen to me. each oportunity i get on a dev post i go there and make sure CLASS BALANCE is the biggest issue in game as people complain about it for years in obvious classes like necro. If any reply happens is to say that the issue at hand is another and if you ask where is the balance team polls and post all you hear is the sound of silence.

Probably because you said it in such a way. I’ve never had infractions or bans because of going on about balances (of which I do a lot for necro).

Burning Arrows trait, out of place?

Does anyone else think that the Burning Arrows Trait is strangly placed in the Tactics specialisation line?

The Tactics specialisation is full of support related traits however the long bow is not a support weapon.
Long bow is a hibrid weapon being quite good at both condition damage and power damage.
I really think Burning Arrows belongs in the Arms specialization with the other hibrid traits. If not in arms maybe the Berserk specialization line with the other burning traits.

The one with berzerker trait line does not work because everyvody gots bow but not everyone has berzerker/HoT.
Each traitline has more or less one wepontrait and arms already has sword.
You can actually make very strobg condi builds with tactics and bow.

Blood magic for necromancers has both dagger and warhorn traits, the warhorn trait being very out of place. It is bad design on Anets part. The same goes for Leeching Venoms in shadow arts instead of deadly arts for thief.

I’m fairly sure the 1s cd on stealth attacks was to prevent breaking through 1 hit defenses like Aegis or Blind, since hitting them does not break stealth.

Plague has its uses but sadly they are not for damage. It is a purely anti spike/tanking elite.

Personally I’d suggest they remake it into a better version of the human racial elite Reaper of Grenth.
Another suggestion people have been asking for is to give necros more reliance of aoe fields. Necros suffer from relatively poor condition dps because they do not rely on fields for damage, unlike other better dps professions (engineer and ranger). Grasping Dead and Enfeebling Blood are both great candidates for this change.

I like it. Considering the first legendary shield was a serious one, rather than a joke, it seems fitting that the second should be more jokey (Quip/Hope, Dreamer/Chuk Chump, Bifrost/Nevermore etc.)

I hope you mean Bifrost for staff because nevermore seems more of a serious type legendary which’s lore is deeply embedded in Norn culture.

Bifrost being the jokey one yes. My friend and I nicknamed it the rainbow buttplug.

I chuckled when I read this. As a thief, whenever I encounter newer players playing necro it takes me ages to kill him because they’re such damage sponses. When I see a Necro I sigh a little because I know whatever their skill, it’s probably not even worth killing them, cause it even with insane thief dps it takes so frigging long, whereas I make one mistake and I’m dead. How this is considered high skill floor is beyond me. Dying on a necro the hardest part of playing it.

You know that thief hard counters necro, right? And I’m not a salty necro main saying this – I’ve got 4k+ hours in the thief profession.

Even moreso Daredevil vs Reaper. A truly good Daredevil should absolutely never lose to any reaper in a 1v1.

I guess each to their own. Playing necro in wvw, daredevil is one of the few professions I rarely have a problem with fighting. I guess you’re talking more spvp?

Guardian was allowed in the dungeon meta though at least. You never saw “no guardian/necro/ranger” parties, just the two latter.

I literally got kicked as a Guard from T4 because I didn’t have a Necro. Granted, they specified they wanted 4 Necro cancer team in LFG, but I saw different classes in team so I figured I might join too because it was the only full daily LFG available. And this is only one example, just look at LFG and it is filled with groups like this that exclude any non-Necros. How the tables have turned.

Hence why I used the word virtually. It’s not half as bad as the old lvl 50 fractal/dungeon meta, where almost every party demanded specific builds and professions.

Fading Twilight/Dusk Strike/Chilling Scythe increased range from 130 to 180.
Fading Twilight now applies 1s of Chill.
Chilling Scythe strips a boon.
Gravedigger strips a boon.
Death Spiral applies 1s Cripple for each strike.
Nightfall is fine.
Grasping Darkness CD reduced to 25s.

Soul Eater changed; whenever you strip or corrupt a boon, gain health and life force. Reduced cooldown on Greatsword skills, and Nightfall will corrupt all boons on each target struck by its final phase.
Blighter’s Boon changed; whenever you strip or corrupt a boon, gain Fury, in addition to its current effects.
Chilling Darkness cooldown reduced from 3 seconds to 2 seconds.

Given Anets record on Necro buffs, boon corrupts is the best we can hope for. So I most definitely approve of the boon corrupt/strip suggestions.

And then offhand dagger is almost purely a condi weapon. The only time I’ve used it in a non casual setting, is if you need some protection against projectiles (Corrosive poison cloud) but you don’t want to lose damage because of the self inflicted weakness it gives.

Personally I prefer warhorn when using dagger. #5 is great for both life force gain, additional damage (to break through things like aegis or blind) and crippling foes. And then you have an unblockable 2 second daze on #4, for really screwing over anyone trying to hide using a block skill (shelter guardians, shield wall warriors etc).
I find focus compliments axe far more though.

Confirmed: “in a good place”, aka “we don’t know and we don’t care”. Guardians had at least three years of that.

With Fractals though, bring what you play well on. Elitism is virtually dead (aside from necro condi parties).

I don’t want to go back either. We have seen so many improvements to this game (wardrobe, masteries, fractals and raids, reward tracks, collections, all of the awesome new maps, and much more) that I would sorely miss if we went back in time.

Base move speed needs to be increased across the board, so norn and charr don’t feel like they’re running through molasses and guardians of all races aren’t hopelessly left behind.

1. That’s because they’re bigger and it only feels like they are moving slower, they aren’t actually. Having a baseline 25% speed buff would still make them feel slow by comparison.
2. Guardians have access to probably the most swiftness in the game. Stop being lazy and actually take staff/retreat. They also have a fair amount of gap closers. If you are mapping, take them instead of your full trap build. And on Dragonhunter you have one of the best gap closers in the game (F2). Stop calling them slow because of their lack of +25% movement speed trait/signet.

Daggers already fill the “fast melee attacks” role. Moreover fast attacks from a 6ft long two-handed greatsword does not make any sense.

Then how do you explain Warrior and Guardian greatsword auto attacks? And before you say “well reaper greatsword has higher base damage”, both those professions have more damage modifiers, so they can do more damage whilst hitting quicker.

Probably the Gallant set. I’m more of a fan of realistic looking weapons, depending on the character. A personal favourite of mine is the Gallant sword, Jora’s Defender and t3 human heavy on a male.

I just want my necro zerker be viable for raids, with an ele level of DPS. Or superior ,since necros doesn’t really buff the squad.

No thanks, I don’t want to ruin my raiding squad DPS, because Anet can’t balance correctly.

Why i pve so inportant? Its much less interesting than fighting actual players with real skill.

And whats the problem taking a bit longer to kill a boss or clear a dungeon? if your playing a class you like?

Because raid groups like people to pull their weight. An ele brings far more utility and dps than a power necro, so raids are going to fill up on eles and not necros.

And before you say “well my raid group allows me to power necro”, that’s one group out of a huge number. Try pugging raids with a power necro and see how far you get.

Edit: As for dungeons, they are a complete faceroll now. So bringing whatever you like is fine.

I’ve wanted staff to be the Revenant dps weapon since I heard they were making it a melee weapon. Any damage buffs are an automatic yes from me.

Currently, there is at least 1 mace skin that is a flail (the Super Mace Skin). I wouldn’t think it would be too difficult for Anet to make more similar flail skins in the future.

The problem is not with the spirit but with the size scaling. Against normal foes, it is no different from any other particle effects. However, the size of the raven grows much larger against bigger foes and can cause annoyance.

Get yourself fractal potions – they help a lot!
25% reduced damage received is amazing

^ this. I find it disgusting how many pugs don’t use potions. They’re dirt cheap and give 15% more damage, 25% less damage taken, 25% more movement speed, 50% more endurance, + bonus stats scaled from your AR.

Halloween specific dailies also award 1ap on top of the 10 daily ap. However as stated above, it counts towards your daily/monthly 15k AP cap.

For everyone blobs are not fun.
Smash all da buttons till smaller zerg is all done.
I liked my small server that my pc could handle.
Now i just cry when my graphics get scrambled.
On reset night now curses get hurled.

Blobs are fun if you are part of an organised group, with each sub group setup properly with proper zerging builds, on TS having a laugh as you wade through hordes of foes. Boon strip sniping enemy commanders, then bombing on his down state, is a particular favourite of mine.
(I used to have a PC that couldnt handle EB, so i know the feeling of frustration).

Death Shroud overhaul

What the shroud really needs is 0.25 recharge, so a bit of lag won’t get you outside of it because it gets triggered twice no matter how careful you are with your controls.

Balancing something around lag issues is the definition of stupid.

Balancing something so it doesn’t get affected by lag is something you HAVE to do when making online games.

This is not a counter strike 1.7 tournament in a LAN party.

This idea was implemented before, during HoT Beta, and it was reverted because people didn’t want a split second cooldown to get out of shroud. Anet aren’t going to implement it again.

3 mobility skills does seem a bit much.
With Nightfall, I always thought it should be a mobile field (something they should utilize more in game). That would be even better than a teleport, considering a foe can just dodge and kite away from the field, once it spawns.

You mean centered around you like the berserker one flames of war (torch 5)?

Yeah. I really love the idea of mobile combo fields, and wish anet would implement a few more.

Necro need to calculate where enemies are in future because every skills is so frigging slow to cast.

The updated Instant ground targeting makes staff a really effective weapon against thieves, now you can follow the thief’s movements and cast marks where your mouse is at the end of the cast rather than the start.
