Ice bow is a gimmick. It needs to be Smite booned. And this is coming from someone who plays Ele for dungeons on a daily basis.
Half of skills based on 4+ cnditions and you can apply only ONE in these build.
It’s will be Worst Elite, because it have NO Synergy in it self! Will be fail 100%
Not necessarily, the trait lines could assist in the condi application, but 4 does seem a bit high. Would rather the skills work off enemy boons since ranger could use some boon hate.
That would make it almost exclusively a pvp weapon, which would be a bad idea. The 4 Condi thing would work well in a party, dungeon or otherwise.
Condi doesn’t make sense on a presumable power weapon. Who says the trigger has to be something like 2 or more boons, it could be 2 or less. Then it could work in pve and could be countered in pvp by stacking boons to avoid kd.
I was judging on the basis that it was 2 or more boons. But yes 2 or less boons would be good.
I don’t think anyone appreciated the change to Target the Weak. Should have been left as it was or had its effect moved to another minor.
People who used the Curses line for stronger Conditions did. The bonus damage did nothing for condi builds, whereas the bonus crit is quite nice for them.
Filthy condition peasants are irrelevant.
Power Necro master race!
I think you may be right, however there’s still a bunch of underwater environments in the game so really I’d be happy if they just put back the golem’s ability to operate underwater, animations or no.
Then people would not only complain about lack of animations, but also about the lack of polish allowing things to remain without animations. Its lose-lose.
They allowed wells underwater even though they look terrible.
There are many options that aren’t skimpy at all like the wedding and noble countess outfits among others. As for armor sets you have some nice light (human cultural t1 for example), heavy, and even medium armors.
There’s a heavy armor set in the gem store that’s quite skimpy. Gladiator set is also quite skimpy.
Heavy male armour has more skimpy sets than medium or light, which is kind of ironic.
Why does Curses have to be an only Condi line though? Spite is used for Condi and it is considered a the Power line.
Updating the Reaper traits is fine, but swapping out traits to give to the base Necro isn’t. I know it’s all hypothetical so it’s not legit but if it was, many Necro players would be annoyed to see the exclusive traitline for HoT being dished out to people who did not buy the expac. No reason to buy expac if it’s available to others for free.
1. While I agreed at first with this, it really isn’t that hard to put it in the bank and transfer across. You’ll get used to it.
2. It isn’t a separate instance like the Home Portal Stone, so it wouldn’t port you back.
This should be added alongside other great ideas like Corrosive Poison Field destroys enemy projectiles.
Sic’ em is gimmicky but very fun in it’s current form and great for countering those pesky thieves and mesmers, that rangers have a hard time with. All it needs is the pet bonus to stay on even if you use another pet skill or command.

The first thing I noticed was traits pulled from the Reaper trait line. Since you have to buy HoT to gain access to the line, those traits shouldn’t be in the basic Necro trait lines.
Oh god those SAB minis are the bane of my existance. If I had a geni with 1 wish, I’d wish SAB out of existence.
Really they should make Weakening Shroud the minor trait (following the theme of Entering Death Shroud traits like Furious Demise), and then make Target the Weak takes it place as Grandmaster, with the change to +2% damage. That way it doesn’t disrupt condi builds running Curses but allows Curses to be used in both condition and power builds.
It’s the same with converting pristine relics to fractal relics to spirit shards. You confirm each purchase with pristine, then open all the bags. Then confirm each purchase of Dessa’s journal, then double click all of those. And there is no way to line up the “Buy” button on top of the “Yes/Confirm” button.
Set your interface size to small, then it will line up.
I have already made this point many times and got shot down for some reason. THe best way to deal with it is align the buy option with the yes button on the “would you like to” message. That way you can just spam click and still get them.
While we all know Necros aren’t as bad at damage (in pve) as people say, it is safe to say Necros are still one of the lowest dps classes. HoT will change this with the Reaper, but the meta seems to be Spite/Soul Reaping/Reaper. With the Reaper being able to do 100% crit chance without any precision, I suggest Anet change Target the Weak back to it’s original form (+2% damage per condition on foe). This would make curses a viable traitline to contend with Soul Reaping. This would also mean Necros, who don’t want to spec Reaper, could pump out more than their current mediocre damage.
I personally have used it a lot on my necro as it has a lot of synergy with us. While it is totally outshined by the dps of Lich Form, it does offer an alternative if you aren’t a fan of Elite Forms or the Flesh golem. I feel it will be totally outdone when HoT is released and we get the “Chilled to the bone” elite, which causes aoe chill with 2 second stun on 90s cooldown (can be traited for less).
I always had an idea for the Zhaitan fight, where you would instead fight him as airships. Using a modified underwater Z axis to simulate fighting in the air, you could actually go toe to toe with him. This would solve the problem of having to fight something far far larger than even Tequatl, but still make it an interesting fight (unlike the current snooze fest that is the Zhaitan battle).
Maybe if you ran a dungeon like a normal group, you wouldn’t have a problem. You sell dungeon paths, you run the risk. End of.
engi is currently the most ‘spammy’ profession, and it’s not something I enjoy.
I doubt that scrapper will be different.
It’s what puts me off using Engi for more serious play.
I sense a incoming Ele nerf, what with them being so powerful at the moment.
Remember how OP and annoying Engi turret tank was and how it is now? I don’t want minions to be nerfed like turrets so lets keep them as they are. Anything that allows you to rely on AI for damage (aside from ranger) is going to be a controversial build.
Why they couldn’t just make it into a Blood Shark underwater, I do not know. Similar to how Ranger Spirits are underwater.
Almost all of my wishes, with regards to the Reaper, have been granted. The last wish is to allow Infused Terror to stay active outside of Shroud. While I know I am a minority here, I’m a bigger fan of using the greatsword over shroud.
Jump into shroud → apply stability → jump to foe → ice field → jump out of shroud and wreck them. Please make this happen.
Forgemaster would have been a better name.
What is it with Anet adding cast times to skills that traditionally have no cast time? Shouts, stances and arcane skills all should have no cast time.
Most professions only have a few meta builds, so it’s no excuse to justify Ele’s current overpowered state.
Whilst I love the idea of this skill (I do have a bit of a life stealing obsession), the amount of life steal you gain from it is not worth it. To be in line with the other more powerful major traits (chilling victory/decimate defence) the gain should be closer to the life steal gain of Vampiric Rituals, which is about double the current life steal.
Currently professions like rangers and necros are being excluded from certain areas of the game because of meta, much of it coming from eles. Until this is fixed, any calls to buff eles in anyway should be shot down. Eles are arguably the best profession in all aspects of the game and need taking down a peg or two.
So I was thinking last night, what if they change the required AR rating to the level of the Fractal. So at lvl 100 you would need 100 AR. Currently that would mean full Ascended gear (with +5 infusions in each) and an infused backpiece and rings, each with +10 Agony infusions.
Rev got a weapon swap added after player feedback. Why not give one to ele too? The legends that rev can summon are a lot like attunements. Engineer has multiple weapons through the kits that they can swap to, but ele still only has the one weapon.
Whilst we’re at it, Eles need an ice bow buff. Oh and buff staff so meteors shower hit more than 8k, because that’s underpowered. Oh and they need more boons and blast finishers.
Unless you plan on getting all the dyes, don’t bother looking at the prices. I personally hate the Taimi dyes and went with the Lion’s Arch survivors pack for Enameled Reign.
Dueling would be another WoW addition I would like to see.
It does make me sad to see Necromancers (once dubbed the masters of conditions) ranking very low on the condition leaderboard as well as power dps, for pve anyway.
Personally, I feel the Reaper and Greatsword are Anet’s answer to Necros lacking Pve viability. I don’t feel it performs well in pvp at all but absolutely dominates Pve, where massive damage is needed. Greatsword auto has the highest per hit damage of any basic profession weapon and Gravedigger spam can pump out between 10 to 20k damage per hit (zerker of course).
I imagine a fight between the Daredevil and the reaper to be a lot like the Mountain vs the Red Viper in a Game of Thrones. If the Reaper manages to catch the Daredevil, the Daredevil is kittened
I main Necro but run Thief for dungeons at the moment. I just feel like I bring more to the party as a Thief.
Necro hate is there for a reason. And you can blame anet for it. I love necros (I main one) but playing other classes has made me understand “why bring a necro (or ranger) when you can bring something better?” They bring nothing to the party that another profession can’t already bring, and do better. Even the Reaper doesn’t seem like it can change this fact.
You’ve had a few bad experiences and you judge the entire dungeon community by that standard? sigh
Can Anet please add an option to remove the child lock popup (are you sure you want to buy…) when purchasing with certain currencies. Only recently have I discovered that anything bought with spirit shards has this popup. This makes it exceedingly tedious when buying masses of Crystals for forge tossing. I’m sure I speak for many when I say this.
Similar to the Additional Crafting Licence, Anet could add an item that lets you transfer a leveled crafting profession from one character to another. This would mean you’d finally be able to move all your crafting professions from your alts onto your main, without having to level the crafts again.
Greatsword auto dps on every profession has always been inferior to another dps weapon. Warrior: axe > gs. Guardian: sword > gs. Ranger: sword > gs. Mesmer: sword > gs. The problem is the damage on the other Necro greatsword skills isn’t high enough.
Unlike many people on the forums, I actually really enjoyed the Greatsword aspect of the Reaper. That said it does need quite a bit of improving before release.
- The auto attack definitely needs to have the same cast time as other greatswords or else it will become just another rotation weapon.
- Gravedigger feels very sluggish and doesn’t do enough damage. The change from 100% recharge to 80% hurts it even more.
-I love Death Spiral to bits, though it needs an improvement on its targeting.
- Nightfall drastically needs to have its aftercast improved. It suffers from the same problem as Mesmer Greatsword skill 3.
- Grasping Darkness. Oh what have they done to you. I was looking forward to this skill most of all. But it has terrible targeting (it doesn’t target a foe but rather shoots out directly in front of you).
- Necromancer shouts I found to be near useless aside from “Rise” (but only as a gimmick to have a massive army of minions). For gods’ sake, make them instant cast like shouts should be.
- Chilled to the bone was a nice elite but pales horribly in comparison to the Revenant’s Assassin stance elite.
- The Reaper’s Shroud doesn’t need too much changing. That said I didn’t play it as much as the Greatsword.
- Infusing Terror should stay on the character outside of shroud. Whether this is a current bug or not, I do not know.
- They need to remove the 1s cd on shroud after you have entered it. This screws up the Curses trait that grants fury for those wanting to hop in and out of shroud instantly.
- I absolutely adore the Souleater trait. My favourite setup is a Spite/Blood/Reaper build with mass life stealing and wells.
Yay, Chilling Darkness now makes Well of Darkness a bit less kittenty.
All they need to do is make all minons ranged and that will make them proper viable again. Blood fiend and Bone Fiend never bug for me, only the ones with melee.
Full Ascended with Eagle runes, Force/accuracy sigil:
2381 power
1967 armor
65.9% crit chance
220.7% crit damage
19212 health
TL:DR
People are kitten because they can’t keep their precursors they got with their infinite exotics.
In the end it does come down to personal skill. But if two equally skilled players go head to head, the Necro (unless equip with a perfect counter build) will almost always come off worse.
