A death themed Greatsword. Totally grimdark/gothic themed, with a ghostly green or blue trail effect (similar to spectral walk but disappearing much quicker). Then maybe a sound effect when you swing the blade (ghostly screams or something along those lines). For the footfalls it would have miniature versions of the blackened Grasping Dead effect complete with skeletal hands. Upon unsheathing the blade ghosts fly out of the blade (similar ghosts to the spirit quest tonic) and will occasionally reappear, flying past the user (like the ravens on Nevermore).

Lich Spec

Channeling the spirit of Vizier Khilbron, this specialization wields a scepter (of Orr!) and focuses on ranged condition damage. It could also be given a utility or two to raise skeletal minions.

It would be neat to be able to channel all the baddies from GW1. Revenant is missing a ranged condition option and Lich would pair well with Mallyx.

No no no! I will not suffer another profession having skeletal minions whilst us necros have kittenty rats and a bad looking flesh golem.

People deem the common trapper DH builds brain dead.
Deploy traps, pull enemy onto them, win.
Usually said people complaining are even more brain dead themselves because they get killed by a fairly easy-to-counter setup.

To be honest, I hope they rework or remove signets for all professions. Facets are what signets should have been but the lack of energy mechanics on other professions makes it hard to adapt them in the same way.

Necro negativity - do the devs care?

Currently Necro condi is the only build that is meta in all game modes.
Power Necro is kind of lackluster outside WvW zerging.

Reapers Shroud, while a welcome sight for Necros, has lower dps than camping Greatsword.
Greatsword itself is often deemed too slow to be useful in anything except casual pve (dungeons and world bosses). You might as well resign if you have a Necro on your team using Greatsword in pvp (much to my shame as I love Greatsword).

While I will agree we are in a much better place than we were pre Heart of Thorns (no necro meta is now all necro meta in fractals), a few buffs here and there to up the performance of builds outside condi would be refreshing.

Thematically speaking, I would have thought Venom traits would be far more suited to the condition/damage traitline, that is Deadly Arts. Whereas Trap traits seem more suited to a line about ambushing and stealth, aka Shadow Arts. Can someone fill me in as to why they are in the opposite traitlines?

I think most of the complaints about the new swampland fractal have come from people who aren’t used to taking defensive traits over offensive ones.
I attempted to pug it on reset but alas we failed. I then woke up the next morning and attempted again but now with knowledge of it. I told the pugs how the mechanics worked and what was required. We had 3 warriors, all running longbow or rifle + gs for the trash. They all ran Adrenal healing with healing signet. Plus I was running a staff minion master (death/blood/reaper) and the other necro ran condi minions. It took a few attempts to get the mechanics down but we managed it.

All in all I would say to everyone, bring sustain. There is no timer so there no dps check.

I think I went in downstate 1 time because of the overhelming particules and my computer slowing down (even if I run a good computer spec..)

I agree with flow that well of power is a good utility skill but i dont think there is currently a build that really can use it well.

I wish they would remove well of darkness and give us a good support well instead.

And for well of blood it heals for less then the mesmer well of eternity without healingpower (with healingpower this changes since it has better scaling), has a longer casttime, a longer cooldown and doesnt remove conditions (unless you use the light field but woe is also a light field so mehh) and woe has a shorter duration. So i would argue well of blood definitely needs a buff in numbers.

It’s sad to think that Well of Darkness was actually a viable option in WvW with Chilling Darkness, before it had an ICD. Then they gave it an ICD and back to the grave it went.

They are Necros most used utility (suffering and corruption) because they are the highest dps utilities we have. It’s just a shame Darkness, Power and Blood aren’t of the same stock.

Since you won’t buff Soul Eater, could you instead revert back to its beta form but with the 20% reduced recharge. Both forms are crap but at least the old version has some use in life steal builds.

This makes my sad Will only get to try when I get home, but having come back to GW recently I was really enjoying playing my main as minion necro. Why does Anet hate necros??

Rangers and Engineers both had their 50% damage reduction skills reduced to 33% (Protect me shout and Bulkward gyro). Don’t act like we’re the only victim.

Greatsword 5 is blocked by all projectile defence. So I guess it counts as a projectile mechanically wise. However it doesn’t get reflected back at your, which is a bonus.

I would love to know where you got this statistic, considering Staff has been included in just about every single Necromancer build for the last 3 years, with the exception of the Viper Horrors PvE build, which uses Sc/WH & Sc/D

lol what?! o.O Im basing this on necros I meet. I myself use staff a lot less, then before.

Fair enough then. It’s just it had a meta slot in WvW, alongside wells for zerg fights. It is a common second weapon in pve, and has always been used in pvp as a source of Life force. I’d say it was Necros #1 most used weapon.

Each profession has 2 elite skill types missing, aside from Engineer (who has only 1 missing) and Revenant. I remember hearing that they were planning to fill in the missing gaps with regards to elite skills and possibly healing skills too. I’m not sure if that was for real or not though.

Thief: Signet/Trap
Ranger: Trap (as stated)/Signet
Engineer: Gadget
Mesmer: Mantra/clone (phantasm)

You asked for my opinion and I stated it. Crying about a dps loss on the highest dps profession in the game doesn’t really get you much sympathy. As for the comparison to Thief, Thieves bring almost nothing to the party else aside from DPS. Eles bring DPS, Boons, healing and utility. Which is why raids stack eles like they’re going out of fashion and rarely bring thieves. Is that constructive enough for you?

However, I do main Necro and will actually be happy if they nerf the currently absurd power of condi necro. Necros have been top tier at many points in gw2 history but they’ve also been at the bottom too.
Revenant is mid tier dps though.

Are you sure you’re not making that bit up? I mean with Dragonhunter they became far more viable in dungeons due to their increased burst abilities and the nerfing on dungeon foes’ health.
I try pug dungeons most days (slim pickings nowadays) and have never had a problem when I’ve rolled a Guardian.

25% movement speed

Mesmer has 1 blink ability, portals are useless for personal speed and stealth only helps with movement if you have PU traited. Dragonhunters have 2 leaps (gs #3 & f2), 2 targeted teleports (sword #2 600 range, and a 1200 range meditation) and probably the easiest access to swiftness of any profession.

I agree that you could potentially argue to get anything on a profession by comparing it to another, however there is so much wrong with your statement. You are confusing gap closing with survivability. When people are asking for mobility they do not want to jump in but jump out of melee range. Gap closing ability on under performing weapons means nothing. Currently the only mobility skill usable in combat to avoid damage is Wings of Resolve.

As for easiest access to swiftness, hmm?!! Can you maintain 100% uptime on swiftness? Sure. I could say the same about every class. Can you maintain any uptime on swiftness without using useless utilities and weapons in sPvP and WvW? No. Only time you can do that is in solo PvE, and no one gives 2 cents about that. Even there, most other classes have so much better and easier options.

Bottom line is guardian is under performing in sPvP, and the days of guardian being slow and tanky are way long gone. So options are: buff damage, buff sustainability or buff mobility. The third will be most useful and least likely to make guardian OP.

Would a single 25% movement signet/trait achieve this though? It would be a nice gesture but nothing more. That was the point i was trying to make (though failing I admit).

To add some PvE stuff, guardians are utterly screwed in 81+ fractals.

That’s mainly due to using Retaliation and the boon thieves mistlock. Hence why most Guardians use Hammer instead of Greatsword.

We’re the least viable, least forgivable class in competitive pvp. This needs fixing.

We have a plethora of traits & utilities thats utterly unviable. This needs fixing.

I could go into detail how it’s more difficult playing Guardian against a competitive team who knows how to shut them out if you like. But yea, we need fixing.

Ah ok, mainly pvp stuff. That explains why I didn’t have much of an idea since I don’t pvp ^^

I always like the idea of being able to weapon swap, if you didn’t have any weapon kits on your utility bar.

I think you would have to also add in having no turrets on toolbar. But even then I fear they would take away our toolbelt skills. Because tbh with kits/turrets and toolbelt we really do not need another weapon option.

Turrets are more akin to minions though. The toolbelt is a profession mechanic (like shroud) but the weapon kits are the replacement for only 1 weapon. So it wouldn’t make sense disallowing us from using a second weapon if we had turrets or because of the toolkit.

Anet won’t change the Watchwork bonus or give it to any other pick. Stop asking. They know that the best course of action is to do nothing.

And you would know since you are their spokesperson, right? /sarc

They should be taking feedback, and if implemented properly it could be win win for both Anet and consumer both.

Because common sense. Not doing anything will cause the least amount of friction among the community.

Chestfarm is a loot loss over doing Event farming in SW. You get all day lfgs a lot, whereby you run in a circle tagging events to max out loot. The usual rotation is: Free forts → tag events → Breach → VW → champs → 1 chest train lap then rinse and repeat.
