They literally just said a day ago that they are going to stop interfering with the economy and let it sort itself out. We just lost any chance we would have had of ANet actually fixing the leather market
That’s insane. How would leather fix itself when it’s all ArenaNet’s fault? it’s the drop rate that is the problem. How can we as players change that? We can’t change the code, as we don’t have the authority to do so.
I don’t mean they have to manipulate every item in the game, but when something is as severe as this and they just let it be, then it’s a sign that they don’t care about their game and their players.
Look at the price of silk at the moment. It peaked at about 10s a bolt during the release of ascended armour. Now it is 1.7s a bolt. And Anet hasn’t changed the drop rate. All it is is supply and demand.
On the contrary, I’ve started using it a lot recently and I’ve found it to be an incredibly fun trait.
The wheel spins again?
I don’t think I’ve ever understood the reasoning behind bandwagoning.
Its a game and people enjoy winning.
I think I’d be a lot more bored of any other game if I’d played it for 9993hours.
First I want to say I don’t want this trait to be nerfed, but I can’t help but feel like its going to get the nerf bat next balance patch.
Because I always love the death themed professions in games. It’s just a shame Necromancer gets held back because of “thematics”.
Anet already added a 1s cd to reaper’s shroud in beta HoT and they got torn apart because of it.
Classic l2p issue.
Good News for all that don’t know already.
You can choose this stat on all the trinkets you get from Bloodstone Fen and Ember Bay.
Bloodstone Fen: Backpiece, Amulet, Ring
Ember Bay: Backpiece, AccessoryThat is great to know, since Anet added WvW tracks for ember and bloodstone.
Tks for the info.
Sadly you will have to go without 1 accessory because you cannot use 2 of the Ember Bay ones at the same time. Stupid unique status on ascended equipment.
the revenant proved that auto attack animations can be diversified and still be effective and look interesting, how about expanding that to more weapons?
I would personally like to see a class use a greatsword as if it didn’t weigh next to nothing.
Try reaper greatsword. It’s slow as kitten.
Also I hope you don’t mean rev sword auto animation. It almost makes me not play rev. Ranger sword auto would be a better example of new unique animations.
Removal of the life force health bar would also open up our profession to actual useful skills like evades/invulns and blocks.
I’d be willing to be that Ancient Seeds is going to get a cooldown nerf.
And a 3 second cast instead of the monstrous 4 1/4s one with movement allowed would help too.
edit: spelling is hardWith banner being on a 2 second cast to resurrect 5 people and provide buffs for a long duration, a 3 second cast is still overkill and should only be 2 seconds as well.
And speaking of banner, all the res utilities should really have their cast times reduced to 1 second.
Agreed on both accounts.
Give every necro auto chain a boon rip on final hit! Make it happen anet.
The Cold Shoulder buff was only meant to be a base damage boost. Condi is in a good place to be honest and doesn’t need much of a buff.
Anything with a high base heal is often on Anet’s nerf list, but they up the heal co-efficient.
I can see sceptre getting a nerf too. Currently highest dps on a Guardian and its a ranged weapon? No doubt its symbol with get the nerf bat.
Maybe you guys should search back a few years in the forums and see how players felt when all we had was tomes for elites.
I don’t want tomes back… ever.
Yeah, a bunch of morons were upset that tomes weren’t as overpowered as Renewed Focus, and thus wanted them to be replaced by duller elites that were assumed to be as overpowered as RF (but weren’t). The aftermath is Feel My Wrath which is okayish, and Signet of Courage which is complete and utter trash that you shouldn’t touch with a 10 foot pole.
Despite this, a fairly large majority of people still thought tomes were a great concept. As such, the devs involved with removing them said they’d come back in a future elite spec. Doesn’t look like they’re coming back yet though, by the look of the recent leak. So people who liked tomes now get to enjoy getting ****** in the kitten for another 2-3 years (or more).
What did people actually like about tomes? They were useless in almost every aspect of the game and suffered from the typical low duration/high cooldown ratio that every form suffers from. As for the elites they were turned into, “Feel my wrath” was sadly overshadowed by Dragon’s Maw as the go-to dps elite. If they reverted the original cooldown nerf back to 30 seconds, it would probably see a lot more use. And Signet of Courage was dead on arrival because of the high passive heal interval. And a 3 second interval with a 242 heal, it wouldn’t be that bad. And a 3 second cast instead of the monstrous 4 1/4s one with movement allowed would help too.
edit: spelling is hard
They could just add a whip skin to an existing weapon.
Because Necromancers have arguably the best profession mechanic (a second health bar, of sorts, complete with 5 skills). However it has been proven time and time again that it isn’t as great as Anet thinks, and we suffer because of it.
#First of all: Necro needs a Signet for Elite Skill !
Mesmer, Warrior, Elementalist, Druid… all of them have standard and elite signets/glyphes.
All professions are missing 2 elites and heal skills. With any luck Anet will add them at some point.
=Soul Reaping=
- Strength of Undeath – Change to Major second tier trait. Change to you deal +10% damage while in shroud. Shroud skill recharge is decreased by 20%.
- Vital Persistence – Change to Minor third tier trait. Change to Max Life force is increased by 15%. Life Force drains 50% slower in shroud.
Reduced Life Force degeneration is a must for all Soul Reaping builds. Spectral Mastery and Fear of Death don’t stand a chance whilst in league with it. Therefore moving the reduced degen aspect of the trait to baseline is a must.
Strength of Undeath was also a bit of an oddball in that to gain maximum effect from the damage increase, it was better to sit outside of shroud. Now it rewards you for being inside shroud whilst under 50% life force. Also normalised the recharge reduction.
- Cold Shoulder – Move the Chilled duration increase to Shivers of Dread. Add a damage increase of 10% to chilled foes.
- Reaper’s Onslaught – Attack speed increase now affects Greatsword.
Reaper lacks damage increases which is pretty bad considering Necromancers have the second lowest amount of damage increasing traits of all professions (mesmer being #1 obviously). An obvious buff would be to give a damage increase vs chilled foes, and make it a baseline trait. I know moving the Chill duration increase wouldn’t change anything but it would make Shivers of Dread look slightly less terrible at first glance.
Reaper’s Onslaught is also the go to Pve dps power trait. However, currently Greatsword is lacking a good trait itself (Soul Eater needs to be totally reworked but that idea will come later) and is generally panned for its slow, clunky feel. Making the attack speed increase affect Greatsword would be an easy fix for this and wouldn’t take much effort on Anets part. Also making the reduced Greatsword recharge baseline would be something I suggest they add.
Also I realise a lot of these aren’t game changers, but Anet has shown they do not like to drastically revamp or change traits, as some people have suggested.
Just add a toy mount (like we have already) no bonus speed no anything, just the toy. Personally I’d love some sort of skeletal steed for halloween.
cheers guys. and what armor stats will i need for minion master?
this guide says cleric.
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Necromancer_-_Minion_Master
cheers for the feedback.
That was for the old pvp build, but cleric amulet has been removed from pvp. Just roll full zerker w/scholar runes. You don’t need to worry about survivability with all the minions soaking up damage, so best max out your damage stats.
Because repair canisters and the infinite repair canister.
Fair enough no offence caused. But to put it into perspective, it would be like someone asking Anet to put legendary skins on the gemstore.
Sadly it became a small 1 handed axe skin.
I like thieves the way they are. They are kittening annoying but it gives me great satisfaction when I manage to down a fleeing thief with well placed marks.
It’s a joke and needs to be reverted back to what it was.
Or even better. Do a pvp/pve split.
Bleh, tomes sucked alongside all the other transforms type skills. I hope Anet follows the Guardian example and converts all transforms into one use skills. As for the elite guardian signet, it needs to have the passive heal on a 1s tick instead. It might actually be worth using then.
Theres was a thread requesting those changes whns the changes were made to the tomes, we are still waiting.
I doubt Anet would copy a warrior passive healing signet, that heals entire party within 180 CD.
Ok maybe 3 seconds. Also work out of combat. I know anet doesn’t want anything to touch their precious Healing Signet (ahem… signet of vampirism…)
This was definitely written by a pvp player. And by pvp player I mean someone that purely plays pvp and thinks there are no other game modes aside from it.
It was op in pvp and useless in pve. So they changed it. Funny that when it was changed, people were actually complaining that the bleed duration was too long and needed nerfing.
Anet has said that HoM items will never be available from any source other than the HoM in gw1.
On that note, I would love if they added more alternate weapon skins. Like we could get two handed axe skins for both greatsword and hammer (they were going to add axe master Hareth’s axe as a hammer skin but chickened out sadly). And yes scythe as well. Allowing spear skins to be used on staves and greatswords shouldn’t be too hard to impliment either, without having to change animations too.

This is a waste of development resources. The raids are not hard at all, basically 10 man dungeons.
I do agree with you but you sound like my cousin. As soon as he completed VG, raids were suddenly the easiest thing ever.
I honesty just expect some nerfs to epidemic coupled with minor compensation buffs (like 1/4 sec longer bleeds on scepter aa), a bunch of incredible situational bug fixes and some tooltip changes.
lol, that is painfully accurate, it makes me both laugh and cry.
I like the Engi Juggernaut trait for Soul Eater, very nice
I still think it would need a slight attack speed boost to become viable though. Just make Reaper’s Onslaught attack speed effect Greatsword too.
I love the jack of all trades feel to them. While in the past jack of all trades professions have just felt weak, Revenant feels decent enough in most roles. I am a slave to boons though. And Dragon Stance is just godly. They designed facets how they should have designed signets in my opinion.
I really agree with this! This is what Signets should have always been
I’d love if Necromancers had a condition version of facets, on their signets, kinda similar to plague but not a form ^^

It is an easy fix I know, but it seems Anet doesn’t want to put in much effort when it comes to balancing Necromancer.
-Nightfall begins & ends at max radius, no more small circle growing large.
Or how about it is a mobile field instead?
I use it as the punchline of Necromancer jokes.
What is a Necromancers favourite job?
Gravedigger
Issue resolved all good.
Erm. Before all the fancy stuff, I’d rather have basic minion control first. The master can’t even control their pet properly yet.
We won’t ever get full control. That’s Ranger territory.
If a stealth attack is blocked/evaded or misses, does it break stealth? If not I think it was because you could spam it through 1 hit defenses like aegis and blind.
Staff is far better than longbow for tagging. You’re never routed, your auto attack hits 3 times in just over a second (3 targets) and unlike longbow, your foes don’t have to be in a line to hit them all with piercing. Also it’s better for moving (which you will be doing a lot of in the lab). And against guardian staff, it has double the range.
By any metric there is no encounter that a pact of ‘squishy’ viper necro can’t do faster and better than any power or balanced group.
.I’m not gonna bother going through most of that but this alone is utter bullkitten
Our balanced groups clear frac dailies faster than 4 nec + 1 druid combos do. It’s a lazy comp that does not bring everything for a good and fast run and the fact that you think they are truly faster than a balanced comp in which everyone knows what they do shows that you have no idea what you are talking about. The one thing that the 4 nec 1 druid combo has as advantage is that it’s absolutely safe.
Of course an organised group is going to clear faster than a pug group. But that’s just it. Most people prefer to pug. And you never know what the skill level of a pug will be, so you go with the easiest/safest option. Which is letting your minions soak up all the damage and sit at 300 range spamming conditions.
I haven’t denied that. For pugs it surely is the easiest and most consistent route. That however doesn’t make it the best route for (somewhat) organized groups. If you’d balance around the average pug, we’d have a really bad time in this game.
//Oh and besides, since this is about the power spec, the buffs could, for example, affect the spite line since that is the power based line and something condi necros generally wouldn’t consider picking since they’d have to give up other important things. That would either put them into the situation where they have to decide or where the buffs aren’t worth it as condi nec but a power nec can very well put them to use.
I wasn’t saying you denied. Just that it is a similar thing to when people ask why certain builds aren’t allowed in raids. I mean an organised group could happily run sub-optimal builds for raids and do it faster than pugs. But in a pug raid no one is familiar with each other so they have to run builds most people are familiar with, that they know are tried and tested.
Does anyone know if the chill traits work with any chill source or if they only proc’ with greatsword? I will look into this over the weekend.
Chilling Nova, Chilling Victory and Deathly Chill work off of all sources of chill that you inflict.
Irrelevant. Equip other weapons that have actual condi synergy, watch your damage output go up somewhere around 5-10 times vs all of that put together, scratch your head, take waypoint to LA, try out a couple GS skins, put them in your bank or inventory to look at.
Thats about the extent of it.
I was just answering his question. I agree GS is totally unviable.
Spectral Grasp needs to be like guardian F1. Throw a hand which latches on, then you can push the button again to pull. Guardian F1 never fails whereas Spectral Grasp or Scorpion Wire fail a lot.
Ooo I like that idea.
