3 mobility skills does seem a bit much.
With Nightfall, I always thought it should be a mobile field (something they should utilize more in game). That would be even better than a teleport, considering a foe can just dodge and kite away from the field, once it spawns.

Shattered Aegis does actual damage, rather than aegis itself doing the damage. So yes it can crit and does increased crit damage from ferocity.
Retaliation’s damage, on the other hand, purely scales from power (or condi damage if Radiant Retaliation trait is taken).

Death Shroud overhaul

What the shroud really needs is 0.25 recharge, so a bit of lag won’t get you outside of it because it gets triggered twice no matter how careful you are with your controls.

Balancing something around lag issues is the definition of stupid.

I like using Reaper of Grenth on my Necromancer. There’s a nice trait that adds Vulnerability when you Chill targets, and RoG Chills constantly. Very nice to spike damage in PvE.

It is a shame it has such a massive cooldown, else it would be actually be the perfect Reaper elite. I always hoped they’d change Plague into a better version of it since Anet will never let racial skills be useful aside from niche builds.
Also something many people don’t realise is that it has a 10 target cap instead of 5.

The Reliquary is kitten. I’m not sure why anyone would want it to begin with. In the end it is a prestige item for the crazy rich, not for every tom, kitten or harry.

m8 :/ alacrity is an elite spec exlusive mechanic/ buff like facets on revs, like got(kittening)l that druids bring the fact that alacrity doesnt benefit thieves should not mean that mesmers should not have alacrity or alacraty should change in any way. It means thief needs a rework something that would make this an actuall class that requires some skill rather than standing close to boss and semi afking while just dodging and aaing.Alacrity is fine the way it works your best bet atm is to w8 and hope that the next theif elite spec will do something else other than aaing

The problem is that yeah maybe the next thief elite spec is awesome, doesn’t change the fact that group alacrity and quickness is OP as hell in raids. Classes like thief that don’t get full benefit are going to be starting at a large disadvantage when a new raid comes out simply because it’s almost impossible to make a fight where chrono isn’t optimal.

Honestly I would be thrilled if chrono were just not allowed in raids but that seems unrealistic.

And I’d be thrilled if Power Necro were the top dps, but alas that will never be. We can both keep dreaming.

Necromancer could be better at condition dps if the profession had more fear access.

I do not mind building for Terror but Fear was nerfed not long after release (and we can thank Warrior for that), then nerfed again due to Terror being too strong back then.

Here we are in 2016, still nerfed.

Remove the downed aspect of Fear of Death then merge it with Terror.

I won’t go into the ones I think are overpowered. That would be too long a list.

Spiteful Talisman: Necromancers need more damage trait increases. I like it. At least the buffed damage aspect of it.
Terror: Bring back terrormancer!
Soul Comprehension: Passive outside combat life force regen? Yes please.
Sanguine Defence: More Vampiric type traits are always a yes in my book.
Gluttony: I would have done it a bit differently, but making the life force degen a minor trait in Soul Reaping is a must for Anet.

Also on a last note, Staff already had 3 traits made baseline when they changed traits into specializations: 10% more damage on marks, reduced recharge and increased radius on marks.

Well some may be overpowered…but so what? XD I think there’s great synergy though

Far be it from me to tell you what you want Necromancer to have, I just feel like Anet are more likely to listen to our suggestions if they were actually balanced.
But at the end of the day, its a fun hobby making dream balances, so as you were soldier.

It is funny how people automatically think blobbing as a zerg will win you the match. As with real warfare, every aspect is a factor in victory. A zerg of 50 pugs will be decimated by an organised elite group of 20. A 5 man tower group can fend off a 50 man zerg with the right siege placement.

50 downed by 20… yep I’ve seen that… when you’re organized it’s pretty awesome.

As for 5 men in a tower? If they can hold off a group of 50 then that group of 50 is pretty bad.. lol… With that number the blob should be able to easily build any siege they need to take out the inside siege as well as take down a wall… from far enough away (read: trebs) that the catas and balli’s in the tower can’t touch them.

Ok that last bit may have been a bit of an exaggeration but you get my point. Organisation or skill trump numbers, despite the fact that most people never complain about organisation or skill, only numbers.

The idea I had that I had posted here in my rework ideas thread is that you “gain 2% Life Force for every condition applied to you.”

I feel this would work nicely during times you’re being trained down by large groups and getting a heap of conditions stacked on you. It would also work nicely in tandem with Corruption skills, allowing you to feed your Shroud.

I like it but it isnt conform with the rule of this tread.^^

So it should something like:
For every condition applied to you and every death around you gain 2%.

But why does it have to be about death? Yes I know thematics and all that, but its thematics that have been holding Necro back. As a wise forum user once said: “If a theme stops something from being useful, then the theme itself is pointless and need not be used.” The same reasoning can be used on Reaper Greatsword’s slow but hard hitting attacks.

Well it doesnt but the op said he only wants ideas with a on death part to it. The reason is probably because Anet explicitly said they want death magic to have an on death trait.

And personally i would be fine with your idea.

Yeah I guess so. But on that note, only 3 traits in the Death magic line are death themed. Unholy Sanctuary stops you from dying, Death Nova which gives minions an on death poison field and Soul Comprehension, which obvious gives more life force from deaths.
edit: I’d be happy to see one less death trait.

I mean either way, if it didn’t convert CF that’s still additional Toughness that works for me, and that was the prime reason why I fell in love with this Specialization path. I get rewarded defensively for fighting aggressively lol as far as Power is concerned, I’m too tired to do the math right now but looking at Scholar’s Rune, that’s a rather risky/gambly route to go in my opinion. It’s super easy to fall below 90% health and struggle to get it back, especially when dealing with annoying Bosses and their splash AoEs. Sigil of Force increases Weapon Damage by 5%, so that doesn’t play a part in Power. I still honestly feel like Scrapper is providing more Power than Scholar’s would, at least in the long-haul of the fight.

I guess I fell in love with Blood Magic in a similar way. I just love the sustain from Vampiric/Vampiric Aura, it makes keeping my health above 90% easy.

Oh man trust me I LOVE Blood Magic, lifesteals are my thing for sure and they’re super fun. Being able to heal while attacking is the best thing ever in my book. I hear it gets a lot of flack too for ‘not being good’?

On the face of it, I can understand why people doubt it until they see your 2 wells procing 3 sources of life steal on 5 targets + your basic attacks. It reminds me a lot of Guardians Altruistic Healing.

You’re not getting much out of death magic, 77 power outside of shroud and 180~ while inside, though that is before Corrupter’s Fervor.

Deathly strength doesnt work with corrupters fervor.

I don’t know where you got that info from, but from what I’ve witnessed my Power goes up as my Toughness goes up with the Stacks. I mean, it wouldn’t make sense NOT to, all Deadly Strength does is convert 7% (or 14%) of your current Toughness into Power, all CF does is increase your Toughness and gives you Condi Resistance. Logic screams the two go hand in hand, otherwise it would either have to be a bug or ANET needs to clarify some details in the Traits description.

Traits never give extra % conversion from temporary sources. That is the way it has always been.

No more siege please. Make skill damage of people hit gates harder and able to attack walls, go from there. If people want to defend, they need to get off the wall and fight or attack from above with their own skills.

I know it will never happen, but it would be a really awesome event.

I’m mostly disgusted with the mobile cannons that were implemented. Still tired of arrow carts as well, but they really outdid themselves with these cannons…

But how would 5 players defend against a blob? I’ve seen zergs been turned away so many times by a few players with well placed siege. Your idea only encourages more blobbing and blob defense.

Power Necro buffs Oct 18

Axe feels pretty legitimate as a power weapon except for when a boss has near a 25-stack of vulnerability and its condition application loses all value. This is the same old story.

Axe should have an extra bonus such that critical hits to a target with a full stack of vulnerability also have a chance to inflict another bonus like…

  • … Another condition that affects break-bars.
  • … A projectile finisher.
  • … A combo field.
  • … A reduction of minion skill cool downs.

You could say that about any vuln stacking weapon though to be honest.

Is that from the mesmer focus pull? Or something else?

I’ve been pulled through the gate by Dragonhunter spears quite a few times if they hit me while I’m getting inside. That to not mention when you get pulled, tossed in the air and die from fall damage… Dragonhunter pull have so many bugs.

That is a physics bug rather than a DH one. All pulls can bug out and cause you to fly in the air. It is just DH is currently the most common pull in the game (and the best).

I agree wholeheartedly with what Server Pride said. I miss running with the friends I’ve made in WVW. It was so much fun playing with the guilds I associated with? I feel the new system makes it extremely hard to play being in a smaller guild. Please bring back the old system

Depends on personal experience to be honest. I didn’t WvW much in the last year (I was on NSP) until we merged with SoS. After the merge changed, I transferred over and I pretty much exclusively play WvW now. I made lots of friends and can safely say I 100% approve of merging.

Those who are dismissing server pride aren’t looking at longterm. You buy the game because it entertains. You stay because of the community.

If people really stayed in certain game because of the community, things like FPS or MOBA (who have extremely toxic communities) would have died long ago.

People stay in the game because they still have fun playing it. Not because of it’s community.

MMOs are social games. FPS and MOBAs are not.

CoR is working as intended. Don’t stand behind the gate unless you can take the pressure. CoRing through the gate is pretty much the same as someone attacking your rams through the gate. Working as intended.

How is it intended when it is reaching 900 range through the gate.

CoR hits 1,200 in range through gates because its not a projectile. It travels under the ground like an earth eruption by passing under the door. The same way a balistia or projectile can shoot through the upper crack of a door. The damage from CoR happens at your feet and because a door is a door there is no seal underneath.

I don’t see a problem with CoR hitting like it does. If they were to change it, I would want them to make all objects, damage and siege not being able to hit things through sealed doors. Because they can, and by mechanic of CoR, it’s working as intended.

That is also the reason why it gets stuck on uneven terrain. But it hasn’t stopped people qq’ing and requesting a bug fix, even though it is a likely intended mechanic.

  1. A more balanced game-mode overall that any side could win come the end of the matchup (then Anet could think about moving reset to Saturday)
  2. Populations to make sense and be even in each matchup
  3. Sides who are being dominated should be given huge advantages that can even up fights, ways to get back into the fight (see 3)
  4. Massive incentive to attack whoever is leading at any one time

They already moved reset to Saturday and people hated it. So they moved it back to Friday as requested.

You do realise Condi druid is now the best condition dps in the game? And it includes Shortbow with axe/torch

When i read things like this i realise how delusional some are…

Now, back to the topic: For PVE fo vipers if you use the shortbow. SB is an hybrid weapon so you need to do as much power dps as condi to be effective. Otherwise the total amount of condition damage will not be enough. I’ve tested this already.

For WvW/PvP just don’t. We are locked into WS or a rune set to be able to cleanse conditions, without them you’ll melt against almost anything as everyone goes for it, with maybe the exception of engineers or thieves.
So because how this class is designed you need: precision, toughness, vitality and condition damage (plus some healing) and there is not any amorset that give you that, and the possible combinations just don’t work.

So for now just forget about condi druid for pvp/spvp.

I don’t main Engi, in fact I play it probably the least out of all professions (aside from mesmer). However when I did, I was miffed to find that the Function Gyro (arguably the worst elite spec mechanic) could not be used to res fully dead allies. QoL suggestion, allow it to work on fully dead allies.

Kits aren’t engineers main profession mechanic though. Toolbelt is. So bad logic there.
I do think Engineers should get weapon swap if no kits are currently equip though. Kits spam is what put me off playing Engineer. That and grenades not having a proper auto attack that auto casts at the foe.

What WvW needs is a purpose.

What many of us have wished for from the beginning is that WvW be a serious competitive game-mode(with all the balance related things people have already listed).

Right now playing WvW does not matter, playing WvW skillfully does not matter. Winning the week does not matter. Winning outnumbered fights, or PPTing better than anyone else does not matter.

Now imagine if WvW had the structural framework to give a purpose to doing WvW. Skirmishes were a baby step in that direction, but have lacked any sort of follow up at all.

Make winning matter, make playing well matter. Give people a reason to be in WvW and give them a reason to improve their play.

This. So much this.

If they did make winning the week matter, they would need to sort out server transfers. Else server bandwagoning would become so bad, it would make what happened to Dragonbrand look tame by comparison.

anet seemed to believe that it was a good idea to make a class so vulnerable to interrupts that in a scenario like this, many of the other classes would be able to escape, but not necromancer.

Exactly who do you expect to run away from 5 thieves?

Has any game ever done sPvP or WvW minions, pets, etc well?

Pre HoT, when tank amulets existed, I ran a sentinels minion build: soul reaping, blood, death. It was the one time I’ve found Unholy Martyr to be really powerful.

Usually it is from loading into a different map. Get onto the map that will have an EWP pulled and you should get in fine.

Given how Corruptions work (self inflicting conditions meant for transferring to enemies), wouldn’t it be best if Master of Corruptions gave us 1 second of resistance each time we cast a Corruption.
