double range shatter is very easy to deal with them,spam clones with staff wait for his rf hide behind the clones,when he done he is sitting duck to your GS skills.

This. Remember they are MORE squishy than you are and even a few seconds of GS spamming will get them worried.

Save your cds for when he pops his power dmg immune signet/ entangle/ rapid fire

Guys, he plays gs + staff…so give him tips with this build. Whats the point in linking him other random specific builds/traits when he already uses what is regarded as the best weapons set and shatter build for mesmers in tpvp.

It’s silly to trait/ change weapons sets JUST TO COUNTER ONE SPECIFIC BUILD ( lb ranger), taking him out of his comfort zone.

Stick to staff + GS ( or take sword + torch depending on team comp) and jsut learn to counter the specific skills rangers use that cause you problems.

You dont need all these reflect traits blah blah blah, learn yo use what you have (cd’s eg. Blink, Phase Retreat, CS, decoy) and trust me, you will soon see lb rangers as a free kill.

Get the jump on them first. IF i know im going into a 1v1, i mass inv first, the get some GS phantasm (skills 2,3,4) up while in stealth to then diversion, so he has 25 vulnerability and 50% before he knows whats hit him, then i decoy, and dodge spam his Rapid fire/ knock back and switch to staff to Chaos storm on his kitten / dodge spam for 3x clones, then mind wrack…

usually does the job, just get him on the defensive asap and he is kittened ….PS…SAVE YOUR BLINK/ PHASE RETREAT FOR ENTANGLE .

After this fiasco, I have to state that ArenaNet and NCSoft, and everyone involved, needs to run polls, ask the playerbase what they think, include the players in what gets put in the game. I’m pretty sure they want a successful game that stays alive for somewhere near a decade. Real life can be such a pain, and I play GW2 to not get frustrated, annoyed or stressed and have some fun. I don’t need to feel compelled to post angry rants over a game. I’d prefer much more to write angry rants about my real life issues somewhere else. Also, happy players are generous players. I guess my train of thought derailed.

I Second this brother. After i calmed down and put what i just raged about back into context, it’s even more frustrating that such a good game can wind me and so many others up because of silly, small trivial things. Especially when real life is stressful enough :P

Just my 2 cents:

This patch has fixed many issues that were the bane of me; 5v4/ terrible match making/ bankers in HOTM/ Map selection(skyhammer)….generally good job Anet,

HOWEVER,

The idea to merge solo and team tpvp together was a BIG mistake.
1) Because you cant change class before the game, class stacking is even more prominent now.
I just faced a team with 3x thieves, they got kitten d. Before that i was with 3x necro, we got kitten d. Now no matter how good the matchmaking system is, it can’t compensate for class stacking. NO matter how pefect the match ups should be..there is going to be a disadvantage if class stacking happens.
2) solo queuers should not have to face a 5 or even 4 team premade with ts. Again, you can have the perfect match making system but when a team has a distinct advantage via synergy ( time played together) and the ability to communicate via ts…how is that in anyway a fair, level playing field!?
3) Courtyard should NOT be in rated queues. Its the worst map when it comes to the snowball effect. As a bunker, you should not have to endure playing that build in a map where it is NOT needed. I have played 4x courtyard games, granted i won 4/4 but i felt sorry for the other team. You cannot simply queue up with a build/ class focus on conquest, to then be forced into a free for all zergfest deathmatch.

I feel ANet are definitely going in the right direction but the above points (especially mergence of solo and team queue) is a BIG step in the wrong direction and judging by the forums, they better take heed.

Not saying that i agree with you OP but there are few people playing spvp because one person plays more pve than pvp there.
Mesmer is one of the classes that rely on ilusions / phantasms (AI) to deal damage and the amount of AI and his related damage is very high when you fight a good mesmer.

IMO, the better the mesmer is, the risk when playing one drops low. But that don’t makes mesmers OP.

100% agree. Shatter Mesmer is in a perfect place of skill= game breaking. That is how every class should strive to be.

a) Remove the Map from soloque and remove the rewards cap from hotjons ?
So ppl can play freely these maps there , and they dont get forced to play a single solo-team arena in order to max out their rewards (gold-chest unlocks) ?

Im not against removing the map all together…i want it removed from competitive queuing. It’s so unbalanced because it heavily favours classes with heavy cc/on point dmg and access to stability.
You should never ever have to look at the team line up at the start and know if you will win or not just because your opponents have the favourable setup for that map.

At least in the other maps there is more space for the classes who dont rely on standing on a point like a kitten/ or who are punished for their lack of cc/stability to kite/use tactics for the fights.

People can still get their reward chests from farming hotjoins, and in hotjoin you can just leave the map if you dont like it.

Yoloqueue you are forced to play it even though there is literally nothing you can do that will grant you a win due to a class bias map.

What annoys me the most is the countless threads/qqing done within the pvp forums/community for, what, well over a year now..and ANET seems to think its fine to do SWEET kitten ALL.

Remove this troll map from solo queue already. I can hack 1 game in 100 but when it pops up 3x in a row and my team mates are clueless/we get out comped, its enough for anyone to rage.

Anet you are either blind, do not care about your own customer feedback, or you are such a pathetically small company you cant even put in the time to just remove it from the queues….if people want to have ‘FUN’ with it, leave it in hotjoin for the hotjoin/troll heroes, but dont make me suffer when all i want is to play PvP not PvOPMAPCARRYINGCERTIANCOMPS+1SHOTHAMMER.

I’m sorry but there are so many things wrong with this statement.
a) the OP is probably not top 50 therefore his opinion is valid of the broad representation of pvp who are fed up of AI builds (stop suggesting the game should be revolved around the very few elite esports heroes)
b) they are viable (maybe not top 50 but again that is such a small (maybe 0.05%) representation.

So after reading this post have come to these conclusions;

-MrBig is a kitten who strokes his own ego way to much. Not in top 400 right now(LOL like that means anything. One MUST be there to have any valid opinion, even if you have 1k games played and been in top 200 before)?. And sorry to say its not the first time i’ve seen him act like a wannabe elitist xD. (check his posting history).

-Thieves are stupid right now, and its so blatantly obvious they are one of the main reasons glass cannon light armour especially cant compete in ‘top level’ tpvp.

-Most of the theory talked here is not really very situational…..how do you stop a thief popping up on you in a team fight and 2 shotting you? Can be very hard, no fun and hard to counter(as a shatter mesmer).

-PW is not the major problem, more so the class itself.

-kylo treb can be destroyed, so no one complains
- In Nifihel no one goes for monsters in high rated pvp unless you absolutely can, capping nodes is of a much MUCH greater priority
- Capricorn is bad design and promotes tunnel vision zerging and the underwater part…i think this is why is IS NOT in solo queue OR team queue
-Spirit, again IS NOT IN team queue for a reason
-Temple buff timers are very good for strategic play

You listed different map mechanics to somehow justify skyhammer? Skyhammer IS different to every other map because it is so class bias and has a one shot/ unavoidable mechanic when trying to cap a point.

I’m fed up of people saying L2P…it takes NO skill to knock someone off/pull them off the skyhammer…it just benefits the classes with more cc/more stability.

Its not just that map…its periodically…this evening i had such skill lag in pvp maps, it made pvp unplayable….like 3-5 second skill lag, for no reason. In EU but the issue still applies.

And when i leave and go back to HOTM…fine, no lag, nothing…and i check my internet through the games so its 100% on ANET server side…..I entered, left, re-entered pvp games multiple times and yet, every timem it skill lags SO HARD in PVP MAPS ONLY.

This is a huge issue…so many posts throughout the forums about this but never any replies or attempts to fix. It gets kittening annoying, makes pvp unplayable and for no reason i should experience this. So kittening random when it happens.

But the amount of top 100-200 stuck up pricks i have teamed with/against in solo makes no new comer/low rank want to strive to improve and grow this pvp community.

The solution could be simple. It’s true that nowadays it’s too easy to get “champion x” titles.
The “champion x” title should show class dedication, no? What if the title track doesn’t stop at 150 wins? What if after 300 tournament wins you get another title displaying your dedication to your profession? And after 600 another one? etc.

People who enjoy playing alts can still get champion titles for all classes but people who prefer sticking to their favourite class still have something to work towards in terms of profession related titles.

Personally, I’m in the latter category and it kinda bums me out there’s nothing left for me but general rank titles.

The game has been out too long now for a champion to be taken seriously as a good player, though the title still has some merit.

I don’t know what the original poster is moaning/complaining about….the risk reward of stealth/distortion is that by using it you cannot capture bases. So you either survive and risk a decap/not cap or take dmg hoping for the cap.

Granted the two skills can see OP 1v1 and in a deathmatch scenario…but that rarely happens in tpvp, which is the section this post is on.

ANET sort it out, its pathetic how you fail to react to the pvp population’s wishes. If you had millions playing pvp then fine, you can afford to be ignorant, but a rapidly declining pvp population means you CANNOT afford to not listen to your customers.

as soon as game starts…i cannot move, i get crazy lag and non of my skills work and always on cd……YET I CAN STILL TYPE IN /MAP /TEAM/PARTY and my internet is fine and so is teamspeak…

if its a know issue then why the f**k are Anet not looking into it or even acknowledging it. Its so so frustrating.

Yeh, am I the only one who finds it odd that to get a good ladder ranking, you have to have a good TEAM…yet the reward of that is a PERSONAL ranking. Maybe it’s just because i come from a wow arena past, but fighting for team ranks by playing TEAM pvp is what it really should be about…get a cumulative team/guild (rooster), have a team mmr, play as a team, and try get your team up the ladder.

End of the day, everyone talks/takes notice of what teams are good/bad/upcoming on the ladders, not individuals.

As much as I hate to say this, I believe the WoW Arean season system is the way to go. Having something to aim for every few months (titles/gear/ranks) knowing that you have a new chance every reset encourages more people to participate in tpvp…rather than jsut for the champion titles.

Gw2 tpvp is very balanced right now in terms of 5v5, but unfortunately the lack of motivation to want to progress as a player (to gain rewards) is rather lacking, especially for someone who is new to tpvp.

Bring in a tpvp season, ranked gear and titles and you have a very healthy pvp community/system. Because the pvp gameplay/balance is fine, the pvp system is not.
