Because it was never the Zerk gear that was OP.

Rangers are required to have Zerk gear and are usually kicked from the Zerk Groups.

If you notice the Zerk groups, you will notice usually only 3 classes.

Warriors & Guardians (zerk gear)
Mesmers (for the aoe invisibility)

You can blame the Zerk gear all you want, but in reality its the
Warrior/Guardian – Zerk combination that is OP

A good ele will not run staff in most dungeon runs unless range is a requirement, because compared to s/d and d/d, staff fares poorly at damage. If your choices are really only staff ele or power necro, I’d choose the power necro instead.

I open the door and step in. Pitch black. Treading carefully in the shadows, I look out carefully for any signs of terribads. Only a handful. I decided it would be unwise to step out from my dark refuge, for fear of wasting a 600 second cooldown.

Hours pass. I have explored other halls of this place, but for some reason I always find myself looping back to this particular hall. Perhaps this is where I am meant to be.

I wouldn’t put it past ANet to nerf the loot rates silently though, given that they rarely ever write any dungeon related changes in their patch notes.

Well, just as an add-on, but you are able to keep swiftness permanently up with just a staff, so if you don’t mind having to stop every so often to sit in a symbol for 5 seconds then that’s a good alternative. You could also use Retreat so you can run longer before you need to use the symbol again, at the expense of a utility slot (or emergency block).

Speed runes also grant a 25% move speed buff with their 6th bonus, but the first 5 bonuses are rather weak compared to Traveler’s, hence the lower cost.

If you’re really just doing open world content (and not dungeons) then I suppose you could pop Traveler’s (or Speed if cost is an issue) for the speed boost.

It’s a different story in dungeons and (to some extent) WvW though. I could advise you on the dungeons bit, but not WvW.

Arah pretty much only path sellers do it any more so good luck trying to find someone to run it and not try to kick everyone at the end or try to charge you.

Maybe if you didn’t close the Arah LFG before 5 seconds were up you’d stand a better chance of seeing a non-seller post.

I echo my post above. Arah 1-3, with the assumption that you have a good team (and by good I mean by knowing what they’re doing, meta builds can come later). If you’re bad, it’ll (eventually) teach you how not to be bad, so long as you’re not one of those silent pugs I tend to hear stories about.

Also, pugs are just… bad. Pro tip: if you need a guardian, get a friend you trust, or play one yourself. Never ever trust pug guards, they’ll fubar everything. :>

Fun is subjective. I wanted to write a long post, but I decided against it. I’ll echo Sins and suggest that you go do more dungeons, especially Arah, and try out other classes FULLY (ie. lv 80 and have run a dungeon with them) before you come back and argue your point. None of us are really taking you seriously.

Short story:

One fine day last month (or before last month, IDR) I decided to pug CoF P1 and P2 as a thief. This warrior (let’s call him Scrub, because he was one) joined the party through LFG for P2, and it went pretty fine until we got to the bombs part. I had thought that it would be fine with 4 people and so I parked myself at the magmacyte, but little did I expect that one of them would go AFK, leaving just 3 people to get all the bombs to Magg.

Boom.
The room blew up.

Guess who Scrub blamed first. Yep, me, the thief. Scrub actually told me something along the lines of “i can solo this part” “dont try to be a hero” and some other stuff I don’t really recall clearly, but basically he kept trying to stick the blame to me when all I did was sit at the magmacyte. The whole party left and reformed because Magg bugged out when the room blew up. Same party, but Scrub failed to join the LFG and so a different warrior came in. I did the exact same thing and had a smooth run.

You know what makes me sad? Scrub was my fellow citizen (or a Malaysian perhaps), his account name and the way he spoke gave it away. Welp.

Moral of the story:
I eat sweet potatoes.
(Guan will get it, go pester him for the meaning)

Yeah strength runes are fairly decent in solo/pug situations if you cant stay above 90% hp. But thats only because necro can generate a decent amount of selfish might. In groups scholar is always better. As far as i can tell scholar is also better solo, but if you have trouble staying above 90% then strength is a very strong alternative to increase your might uptime from BiP.

And for what reason? :P If you level, WP costs are less and often you go from one zone to the next one and even if you port of the other side of the map, its just a few silver.
If you are already lvl80 and WP costs hurt your wallet, you have serious financial problems. :P
