From what I know, their DPS is similar to (possibly a little better than) warriors, but the fatal flaw with ranger sword is that you cannot interrupt the sword auto for, say a dodge or even moving normally, and if you’re as unfortunate as me, the 2nd or 3rd skills in the chain could cause you to leap off an edge to your doom.

They’re capable of applying 20 stacks of vuln in under a second, but it doesn’t last long and you can’t sustain it unless you’re scoring kills left right and centre.

If it takes you 15 minutes to do CoFp1, then the minimum 4 silver in foregone gains from a 30 second loss of efficiency already costs more than the waypoint fees. It’s actually more when you throw in the random drops on the way and ecto you can get from the dungeon tokens.

But most people don’t calculate time-costs. Unless, of course, they’re using it to bully some random dude in Soldier gear for an elitist-populated dungeon, then suddenly they seem to do it a lot.

A well played ranger is never useless. The stereotypical puggies can’t get it through their heads.

Engineer is good if the party cannot max out vulnerability stacks, which is often the case in a pug group.

Some dude tried to charge me 6 gold (6g) and when i didn’t he straight booted me. The game is free to play, now some kid is charging me? The irony is he couldn’t complete the mission by himself anyway! So in essence we are paying him to allow us to help him do what he cant do alone?

I personally prefer mesmer. Ele is rather weak in the current meta but for PvE you can make it work if you want. Don’t listen to the people that say necro isnt worth it, necro is a strong enough class. Mesmer over necro is just my personal preference.

That being said theres a big patch coming on the 15th that is introducing new traits so that elementalist might suddenly become really good or the necro might suddenly get a few buffs that make them even better.

consider that most temple events last more than 15 minutes (start to end), and the end bosses themselves often take ~5-10 minutes in bigger groups, and reward 30 ores.

10 ores for a fight that would literally take a fraction of any world boss out there (esp. in a zerg) is definitely worth it, though I wouldn’t say no to more.

You should stick with warrior if you’re running dungeons, as a mesmer really hits like wet tissue without their phantasms. At least a warrior is completely self-reliant for damage instead of things that tend to get swatted and in the case of the Warden, bug out.

Look, mate, there are plenty of people who judge/kick someone only because he plays a certain class, which i am free to find wrong. I’m not defending those who play bad, only the class itself. I rarely have problems with playing any class (i got them all on lvl80) and i really don’t see why people sometimes kick me even before i am able to say “hi” (at least they could give me a chance, to change my char). They have no idea of how bad or good i play. Those are the people on a high horse.
Everything i do is to decide on my own what class i play and if anyone complaints about those issues we all are aware of, it’s absolutely okay to give them an advice as i did. So i apologize if you are incapable of understanding this, but i have to let you know i really don’t care. Have a nice day.

Right off the bat you’re assuming that I’m a ranger hater. Guess what? I’m training a ranger too for dungeons. If I hated the class, would I have bothered?

I repeatedly get kicked out of groups for not playing a Guardian or Warrior, and sometimes even receive major hate for maining a ranger. I don’t know what has to be done to change this, but something needs to change. I am getting sick of getting kicked from fractal groups for simply not playing a heavy armor class. Nerf heavies into the ground, buff mediums and lights, add a report option for kick abuse. I don’t care which, just do it so I don’t have to be forced to play 2/8 classes from fear of being kicked otherwise. The foundation of this game is supposed to be about playing what you want how you want, but with the way things are now, that is impossible to do without getting some sort of grief in return.

Patience is limited. Sometimes this crap just makes me want to quit the game for months at a time.

My main is ranger and i don’t give a kitten about what other players think is the best way to play it. Wanna know my secret? Be the dungeon opener.

I woud kick you too from dungeon party if you dare play a ranger. Some times I tolerate rangers on eazy dungeons, just rare. And I love when I see in LFG two rangers looking for other members, no one join them ^^ once I did all my 3 paths and they where still there in the list looking… I wanted to enter in party and shout: MAKE A KITTEN WARRIOR but I leave them be… they deserve it ^^
