Well, no class is perfect, for ele it translates to a serious lack of passive survivability. Eles have the worst base health and use light armor… so get used to keeping your distance or dodging regularly. ^^

That sounds like a warrior to me, but it’s not in your list, and they have a damage/range tradeoff anyway… so I guess ele for you

Fast and decently high damage = thief
Tradeoff: Horrible at anything more than a 1v1

I say guardian or ele

I read somewhere that s/d makes a very good bunker…

Clones are, like almost everyone here has said, just shatter fodder and a distraction. Phantasms on the other hand are meant to deal serious damage at the cost of being able to mislead your opponent (you can literally see through whatever disguise they might have). I don’t run a shatter build, but I think clone health isn’t as much of a problem for them since the clones tend to be expended very quickly, and are usually spawned as close to the target as possible to minimise the risk that they will be killed before they can blow themselves up.
I should also mention that traited phantasms can pulse regeneration to allies (including other illusions) near them, so if you want to enhance illusion survivability a little, try spawning them near a phantasm.

Nope, transmuting two items generates a new item with different coding. You’ll have to upgrade it first before transmuting.

It’s too bad you can’t recombine ascended stuff in the forge… would at least satisfy an urge to gamble :>
Or even salvage them for a chance at ascended mats.

Sorry you’ve had bad luck with the toilet, but if you want a weapon you can use, you must first put in 4 weapons of that type, eg. Flushing 4 rare rifles will return another rare rifle (or an exotic one). Using 4 random weps/armor will just return a random piece of armor or a weapon. That being said, there is a chance you might get a precursor out of it.

The few minutes you spent clearing story after story may actually translate to several days/weeks/even years of in game time. And like the fella above me stated, the three orders already have vast resources at their disposal.

Somehow I just get the feeling that you’re hung up on MMORPGs of old. This game isn’t one of them, and I think I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen this statement.
If you really want to insist on mage/range/warrior stuff, can you explain the existence of the guardian?

Most trash mobs have bad drops and excessive health.
MOST.

Yes, you can use transmutation stones/crystals on back items.

Female human, winged armor, and no crafting isn’t a waste of time.

Keen on making a legendary so soon eh? Get ready to become a world completionist!

Nope, hard coded. Time to get a new one!

How about a hostile Legendary Defender spawning on you every time you enter COF? That’s a great way to make it hard for you!

I’d take a mace, don’t kill me for it, but I want to be able to have a dance party with my clones.

I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist, but did you know guardians also have AWFUL base health?
Also, you need to learn more, as staff eles we are great at stopping crowds dead in their tracks and dealing extreme collective damage to them. If you’re just going to sit in fire all the time, then you deserve to be called a terribad, especially since you’re meant to repeatedly swap attunements and generate combos. Yes, fire is great for damage, but that’s it – just damage. The other attunements aren’t “50% less powerful” at all, they simply work in ways that you don’t seem (and need) to, understand.
On a side note, d/d isn’t melee. Melee range is considered to be 130, and the lowest range an ele can possibly have is 300. Besides, you don’t actually hit anything with the daggers, they’re just there to help you channel magic.
