There are simply too many different sets that share attributes, like CoF armor sets which can come in Berserker, Carrion or Rampager’s stats. Arah armor can come in Berserker, Knight’s or Rabid, as examples.

Quite frankly, there’s really no need to worry. If people genuinely have the skill to run in zerker gear and not die, a 10% reduction in critical damage isn’t going to do much because of damage multipliers like that of Scholar runes and certain traits. It’s just a small bump in the road to slow you down, not a brick wall that’ll make you crash.

But if you simply like big numbers then I have no argument.

Even after nerfing zerkers it’ll probably remain the meta in PvE because ArenaNet hasn’t done anything about the encounters that people faceroll with zerk gear. Same encounters + 10% less damage or so = lengthier fights, more chances to muck it up.

Until something is done about the encounters and the comparatively atrocious damage outputs of full condition groups versus full zerk groups, the DPS meta isn’t going to shift anywhere.

Most Interesting Heavy Class??

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Lindbur.2537

Lindbur.2537

A guardian built for DPS will be more dynamic as you must learn to manage your blinds, blocks and other active defenses to compensate for your low health (10805 base, same as thief and ele). If you are transitioning from playing an ele or mesmer a guardian may fit you more comfortably since they also possess vigor on crit, allowing you to dodge as much as you normally would with the aforementioned classes.

Now, shouts are the common mechanic that warriors and guardians share, but the difference is that guardian shouts are defensive in nature. Unlike most warrior shouts which can be spammed to maximise their use, guardian shouts must be used at the right time, that is, to anticipate something and use a shout to mitigate the effect. You could potentially save a life simply by using “Retreat” right before an attack lands.

Now, for consecrations. Just as a warrior uses banners to offer ongoing team support, a guardian employs consecrations for more defensive support. Using them is the same as using shouts – unlike warriors, guardians must use their consecrations in anticipation or reaction. The famous Wall of Reflection can be used if you know the encounter will be projectile-rich, or if you need to remove conditions urgently, hit Purging Flames to strip 3 conditions and generate a fire field that pulses -33% incoming condition duration. Effective guardians will always run with the Master of Consecrations trait in the Virtues line because it extends consecration durations by 2 seconds while reducing cooldown by 20%, achieving greatly increased frequency of use (if not uptime).

Now, of course you don’t have to follow these notions rigidly, that a warrior must focus on damage and a guardian must, well, guard allies, because both classes are able to support the team in their own ways. Rather than trying to be what you cannot be, you should use what you are given to assist your allies in the best possible way. It all comes down to skill, situational awareness and a good sense of judgment.

I hope this helps.

PS: I don’t play warrior, so I’ll leave it to someone else to draw a more detailed comparison between both classes.

TL;DR: Uh, guardian is more prone to dying unless you know how to dodge. Or block. Or blind. Yeah.

EDIT: Before I forget, don’t be afraid to use your virtues, fact is the active effects are much better and are subject to your control. They’re just like signets, except the active effects are heavily trait reliant (the Virtues line almost completely focuses on buffing your virtue actives) and probably more powerful than any other non-healing slot signet.

I believe you can trio most dungeon paths, but I know for sure that CoF P1 requires 5 people to get past the gate to the last boss. Also, all dungeons are specifically designed for 5 man parties, while it is possible to do it with 3 people barring any gimmicks requiring more than that, it will be rather difficult for you and your friends at the start. But then again, practice makes perfect, so I’m sure you’ll find it easy one day.

For the people that never pass through educational grade two.
Educational : relating to the provision of education.
Grade : a particular level of rank, quality, proficiency, or value.
1. I never got gems for any thing in the past 2 years.
2. First I got the green quaggan backpack on 08/01/2014 then i got my first gems on 11/01/2014.Except your welling to tell me that the support can see in to the future. Then no i didn’t get it for buying gems.

Also : in addition; too.
That was on 08/01/2014.Also i got it because many agreed with my words.

1. Irrelevant nonsense

2. Clearly you didn’t stop to think that it was an honest mistake, and instead of contacting Customer Support about it, you choose to kick up a fuss in the forums? What are you, a 5 year old?

3. If you don’t enjoy the game anymore, quit. There’s a difference between being unwilling to leave and being forced to stay. I can’t believe how many people can’t tell these two apart.

4. You realise that this sentence alone is enough to get you sued for libel? If you don’t know what that is, google it. And clearly you have absolutely no idea what consumer protection laws cover, so I advise you to shut up.

You can craft your gear, in fact the only way to acquire Ascended weapons or armor is to either craft them, or get lucky with drops. Obviously you can’t control drops, so… yeah. However, Ascended trinkets (except back items) cannot be crafted right now, so you’ll have to acquire them differently.

Lindbur.2537

I do dungeons. I enjoy dongeons, I don’t speedrun or looking for the exploits, best and fastest way to do dungeons.

I don’t speedrun too, and I don’t look for exploits either. But I do look for skilled players to run with, and if I can set someone off on the road to being a more efficient runner, I will. I think this is a clash of opinions that I find myself unable to reconcile now, it’s 4 in the morning.

I am happy that you sound like you got angry by the fact I go against this stupid Zerker players. OP said he needed Damage and to stand on his own. This build I have posted has proven being a very good build for both open World PvE and Dungeons and I have got a few replies from people being supriced it being so effective.

Firstly, I’m not so quick to anger as some other people, and it’s not likely I’ll get annoyed by something like this. Now, OP said he wanted to stand on his own two legs? Easy. Rather than assuming you will get hit and build specially to reduce and heal off the damage, why not just avoid getting hit in the first place? A berserker is squishy, but not so squishy that you’ll die in under half a second barring one shot mechanics. Your teammates are there to support you too, and as a necro, you are tied with the warrior for having the highest base health in the game. What are you worried about? Dying? No one likes to die, but if you’re going into pug groups, you might want to rethink your approach, because the faster the enemy dies, the lower your chance of making any error.
As for damage, I refer you to this link for the third time: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Guide-DPS-Necro-for-PvE/first#post3462415

The build I posted was to give my opinion of a good build, OP is totaly free to ignore it or try it.

Of course, I respect your right to make an opinion, but it’s clear I don’t respect the build. I’m only human – I will judge.

I though I would hear complains about it since it is a MM build but never though I was going to get a rude response.

I admit that I was a little rude, at this hour my thinking is somewhat impaired. I apologise if you have taken offense.

Edit: Unfortunately for you I quoted the reply before you removed it.

This is my PvE MM

The buildsite I use does not have PvE gear for some reason but as you can se on my choise for trinkets I go with Cleric gear all out, even the weapons.
And for sigil on staff I have Sigil of Superior Leeching.

Since it is a Minion Master you have to be carefull not to let your pets pull any enemies. But atm what I have tried it works real good.
1. Good damage and very high surviveability.
2. Can almost do everything on it’s own accept fighting bosses with high-damage AoE’s.
3. Staff is used mostly used for support like extra healing and condition removal and small fear.
4. Why Axe? Axe is not the highest damage weapon but it is quick and by that offers good healing and also it has range compared to daggers.
5. knockdowns and Dazes is the thoughest part for this build but if I can I usually go Death Shroud when that happens.

Note: The following post assumes you are doing dungeons. If so, read on. If not, scroll down and read the tl;dr.

If you’re building just to survive, I think even that metaphorical berserker lying dead next to you will have done more damage than you could ever hope to output in the 45 seconds he was alive.

Clerics gear is a horrible choice for PvE to begin with (even as a carebear guardian), and because I can’t see your trait setup I’m going with the assumption that you don’t have Transfusion traited, which would at least utilise the added healing power for your team’s benefit. As it is right now, the PvE meta is superior DPS, because, well, a dead mob can’t hurt you.

As I see it, if your teammates die and you’re still standing, you’re only wasting their time by sticking in combat (and your minions won’t disengage so easily).

I could keep pointing out more flaws, but I’ll leave you with this.

Assuming you have 0 Laurels, 0 Gold, no dungeon tokens, no mats and you don’t play 5+ hours/day.
What would you do and how long would it take to you?

OK realistically, say you have only 1 hour per day to play. The fastest way I know of to make gold is with a champ train in Frostgorge. That would net me approx. 7g per hour. At that rate it would take me approx. 79 days to make 550g. Unless I got ridiculously lucky like a guildmate just did. He got Dawn as a drop on his 5th day of champ farming :-/ (I’m happy for him and yet disgusted that I’ve been farming there for months and the best drop I’ve gotten has netted me about 2.5g… d*mn you RNG!!).

You can do both actually, using the champ farm to remain productive while waiting for potential dungeon teams. And would you believe me if I said I got a Zap from a CoF P1 champ bag?

It’s my friends that motivate me and keep me going in between new content patches, and they’ve done so sufficiently for me to begin working for Eternity.

PVE Guard build: Full zerk

Um… yeah…. do that only if you want to be absolutely useless in your Dungeons and Fractals.

The build I provided will provide you with a great deal more survivability, and it will allow you to support your team a great deal better than you would be capable of doing if you went full zerk.

The only thing going Full Zerk as a Guardian is good for is if you want to play a Spirit Weapons DPS build. Otherwise your better off in Knights Gear.

Plus Cranked told you absolutely nothing about what skills or traits to use when going full zerk, so other than the armor his build is completely useless.

Totally agree…I may not have played guardian that long, but seriously? Full Zerk??? Ok, first of all “zerk” isn’t even a build—it’s an armor type. Plus, considering that the guardian has pretty insane defense capabilites, I’m probably going to end up going for a boon support build.

Have you met the elitists in the dungeon subforum? Grok is right, berserker gear is the way to go in PvE, but you have to know how to play it. There’s a guide by Obal of DnT in the Guardian subforum that will tell you how to build a DPS guard.

Defiance and What It Does. A Must-Read!

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Lindbur.2537

Lindbur.2537

Unshakeable is a permanent buff which will always reduce the effectiveness of blind, vulnerability and weakness. Defiant is gained via unshakeable, and it ‘only’ prevents CCs.

He’s correct, and I’d also note that Defiant is unlike Stability – while Stability outright blocks control effects (attempting to CC a target with Stability will result in an Immune popup much like evasion or invulnerability), Defiant actually absorbs the effect completely rather than blocking it – the consequence of this is that Defiant stacks will decrease by one, and if the target is in the middle of using a skill when CCed, interrupt effects will trigger, even if the target does not appear to be interrupted.

In short, Defiant simply blocks control effects – it doesn’t block the consequences of being interrupted by one.

PS: There are 3 control effects that ignore Defiant:
– Sink
– Float
– Petrification

The first two are only usable underwater, while the third is a consequence of the Thief elite Basilisk Venom and certain mob skills.

For those of you who have been wondering, we are-were TOFU of Crystal Desert, but we’ve settled in Sanctum of Rall under a new name. TOFU itself will be dissolved at the end of January 2014. I hope that clears/confirms your suspicions.

We had wanted to leave quietly, but a few of us, knowingly or not, let it slip that we were moving. Don’t get us wrong, we’ve always been rather passive and trying our best to stay out of the drama. It would be the ultimate irony if a guild known for staying out of all drama caused a ruckus in the community while leaving, would it not?

On a personal note, if anyone on CD who knows me misses me, fret not, I won’t forget everyone just because I moved. I’ll visit!
