Are you dead sure you were using the same character you cleared the map with?
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Well, the trick with abominations is to simply deny them the chance to hit you, so keep running about and kite him. Bring a helper if you have to.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Well, if you haven’t already found a guild, I extend an invitation to [TOFU], although I regret I am unable to personally invite you due to a lack of access to the game, but just drop Super Bubble a whisper if you’d like to join. You could tell him I referred you. :3
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
But there is also a significant chance that they have world completion on another character and are just doing it again for fun… :3
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Well, the build included in the hard copy is the base build, completely void of any updates prior to launch, and the game has been out for a year now. There have been at least 10 major updates not including the smaller patches for bug fixing.
Does that answer your question?
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Both classes are survivable in the right hands, but it’s significantly easier to survive levelling a necro because of their inherently large health pool. The ele can provide better healing and boon support, while the necro can give superior condition support.

You know, this is the first time I’ve seen a server PvF-ing itself.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Hello again.
This time, I’ll make it very short. If PvE fails to capture your interest sufficiently, WvW might interest you more. Plenty of fights, more strategising, human enemies as opposed to mindless AI and more!
Ok, so I sound like a promoter for WvW. Anyway, this game features much more horizontal progression than most others, which I personally think is, well, dressing up your character, making it look great and all rich and powerful, and yeah… something like that. And then marching into WvW and stomping enemies as a cute pink asura ( that’s me).
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
A good ele will not run staff in most dungeon runs unless range is a requirement, because compared to s/d and d/d, staff fares poorly at damage. If your choices are really only staff ele or power necro, I’d choose the power necro instead.

Actually, if you just want a normal ascended capacitor, you will need 1850 relics, 1350 for the exotic capacitor and 500 for a Gift of Ascension, a vial of condensed mists essence and either 40 crystals or 240 philosopher’s stones (24 sp for either). Infusing the capacitor to the beta version will cost an additional 500 relics (another gift) and the 250 ectos, along with a glob of coagulated mists essence.
The alternative method for an ascended berserker backpiece is to forge 250 T6 blood, 50 ectos, a vial of condensed mists essence and depending on whether you want a book or quiver, 40 crystals or 240 philosopher’s stones.

Boons you apply.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
I advise against putting all 8 crafting disciplines on one character, on the basis that you can only have two active at any given time. It can cost up to 40 silver to activate another discipline, and you have to pay this fee every time you want to change, so if you want to avoid any heavy losses, make 4 characters and do 2 disciplines on each.

Based on what you’re looking for, it’s really either the Mesmer or Thief. Guardian is out because their playstyle is more group oriented than any other class, is easier to master, and compared to the other two choices it’s pretty easy to see what an enemy guardian is bringing to the fight… you’ll usually see a lot of guardians (especially hammer guardians) in WvW zergs too, which reinforces my point that guardians are more group oriented.
Now, for mes and thief. Both classes rely on deception to win fights against other players, are harder to properly master (the mesmer is easier to pick up and learn because of the clones, whereas a thief relies entirely on stealth). From what I’ve seen, thieves are not in high demand in PvE and fractals (they can be a real boon in the dredge fractal, but many people avoid it like the plague, and for good reason too – it’s awful). Armor and aesthetics wise, light armor is more revealing than medium armor (assuming you’re not playing a charr or asura), but I won’t question your fashion sense, so in this regard it’s up to you. I recommend having a look at some armor galleries.
With that, I personally think you should pick a mesmer.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Ah, RuneScape. Such fond memories… until I terminated my membership back in March and left my account with 2100+ total level behind… GW2 simply proved much more interesting.
Anyway, I know it’s rather late, but welcome to Guild Wars 2! For a start, you’ve probably noticed how this game is so much more combat oriented that RS is, and how the combat is also more fluid and in real time compared to RS’ click-and-shoot turn-based style (well, maybe not shoot pre-EoC, but I’ve been out of touch for too long). Here, your reflexes will be more focused on actually responding to threats with appropriate dodges, rather than just clicking on a shark and expecting it to heal you to nearly full health.
But enough about combat. Exploration is another thing you should note. Unlike in RS, which required you to do quests to unlock new locations, GW2 has no traditional quests. The world is open to you, and the only thing you need to unlock a zone is to simply travel to it.
For crafting… I’ll be honest. It bores me terribly, but it is the fastest way to level your character provided you have the materials ready. You can get a majority of them on the TP for a cost, of course. This aspect of GW2 is pretty similar to what RS has, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble bearing the mind-numbing boredom.
Well, I’ll spare the agony of reading a wall of text, so just ask away if you’re confused about anything.

Yes, yes and yes.

What did I just read?

You have to buy the exotic version first, then forge it with a Gift of Ascension, a vial of condense mists essence and either 240 philosopher’s stones or 40 crystals.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Then, befitting a warrior’s role as massive damage dealer, you are already running the right gear. Now all you need to do is to get full ascended zerk trinkets!
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Norn guardians have an advantage if they need to escape very quickly by means of the Snow Leopard form racial elite, but this cannot be used in s/tPvP.
Also, here’s a pic of my ele. My necro looks exactly the same. So don’t be hating on asura! :3
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
If you make a warrior, you really should carry a greatsword with you (at least in your inventory if not your alternate weapon slot). You might not look well upon it, but it will make your escape substantially easier in the event that you are overpowered by a group of mobs. GS 3 and 5 are efficient gap closers/wideners, and GS 3 has the advantage of evasion while whirling.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
I second Solkard’s post. A mesmer can prove exceptionally deadly in a 1v1, but this concept barely exists in PvE because you will more often than not be faced with at least 3 targets. A mesmer’s biggest offense problem is a lack of AoEs, much less PBAoEs, which means that if you are faced with more than 5 targets at once, you will struggle to kill them all and be forced to retreat.
Now, for elementalist. As people have pointed out, the skill cap is pretty high compared to the other classes, but it is still learnable if you are willing. Of the 3 light classes, elementalists have the highest damage potential and compared to other damage dealers they are still able to offer pretty good healing/boon support. A dagger/dagger elementalist excels at taking on groups because of the sheer power of their PBAoEs and the extreme mobility.
While I respect your decision to not bother with necromancers, I suggest you reconsider. Necromancers have high inherent survivability and a LOT of AoEs, which makes taking on groups of mobs cakewalk for them. They can swamp any target with conditions, and the Consume Conditions heal is the only heal in the game that removes every condition from you (the more conditions it removes the more powerful the heal).
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
I’ll just keep it short and simple.
1. As a berserker, you will dole out massive hits easily, but you are also very susceptible to getting squished. In fractals, you have 4 teammates to help you out, so this becomes somewhat less of a problem, and virtually non-existent if you know when to dodge/invuln/block. If you intend to go deep into fractals, you must acquire ascended trinkets and slot simple infusions for the agony resistance.
2. For gear, I’ve already outlined what you should be going for: Ascended. I can’t go into details because I don’t know which class you are playing.
3. I take it that you are a casual player. Ascended gear is heavily time gated. For rings, you can do fractals, but it may take a few weeks at your rate to get a specific ring assuming it doesn’t drop from the chest. Amulets must be bought with laurels, and the guild commendation vendor offers accessories. Back items must be forged (capacitors from fractals must still be forged, as they start off as exotics). While you can put in relatively little effort to get the amulet and rings, the accessories and the back item especially are going to take you extremely long to obtain.
I hope this helps. Good luck!

I need to get a better graphics card.

The daily chest you get for killing the Jade Maw is the only source of pristine relics. The daily chests are organised by tier, with 1-9 being one tier, 10-19, 20-29 and so on, so if your personal reward level is 40, you can get 4 pristines a day.

Increasing CoF P1 rewards → more people end up in lonely 5-man instances → goes against ANet’s wish for open world zones to be more populated.
In short: No.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
You get a set amount of relics from the big chest at the end of every fractal, at level 10 it’s 6 relics each from the chests, 20 from the chest after you kill the Jade Maw and 25 from the daily chest. So a full level 10 run will net you 63 relics.
Of course, the higher the fractal scale the more relics you get. Normal chest relics increase by 1 every 5 levels, the Maw chest by 5 every 5 levels and the daily chest by 5 every 10 levels.

A condescending tone (or lack of) makes a big difference in how a person interprets your advice, even if it is genuinely helpful by reasoning. Some people are sensitive, and using such a tone will cause them to get defensive. Such situations tend to leave advisors perplexed as to why they are being scolded when the advice they give is truly helpful.
There’s a right way to do the right things, and when it comes to jumpy people, ‘the end justifies the means’ is unsound reasoning.

Both have pretty good survivability, with the guardian better able to spread this survivability to allies near him and soak up a few hits, whereas the mesmer can avoid damage simply by hiding behind clones and spawning them as soon as they go down. If you intend to go solo, I suggest you take mesmer because they tend to have a easier time bursting down a target with their shatter combo.
Both classes are able to escape quite easily too, with guardian being able to directly block the path of chasing enemies, while a mesmer can blink out of harm’s way. Keep in mind that I speak of PvE, I’m bad at PvP. :3

To sum it up, prevention is better than cure. Stop trying to heal and start trying to block.

The difference between medicine and poison is in the dose.
Gw2 need a little bit of vertical progression.
This works well in the context of traditional Chinese medicine. We in the west have a simpler and more straightforward understanding. Poison is poison and medicine is medicine. I do agree with you if you are alluding to gear grind treadmills as poison, but would disagree that a little poison is a good thing.
Too much of a good thing is bad.
Everything in moderation.
Taking too much medicine will kill you.
Botulinum toxin is the world’s most powerful poison, yet people inject it into their skin and they don’t die from it because they inject small doses.
So yes, Tiger is correct. The difference between medicine and poison is in the dose. Gear treadmills won’t destroy a game instantly, and remember, there is the placebo effect.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
No, whirl finishers actually throw out bolts for as long as the skill is being channelled. A guardian using Whirling Wrath on his own Symbol of Wrath is a very good example.
