I’ll be sure to get a pee bucket ready just for you.

Honestly, I prefer congregating in a small village or town. Big cities just feel dead thanks to how population density works.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
If they ever make that title, I am most deserving of it.

Who’s betting the kids who have been playing Ghosts non-stop for over a year and a half will be separated? I’m betting a copper!
Speaking of that, I’m wondering how many incidental NPCs are going to get killed.

He’s gone away, lol. I really do hope he comes back with that video, I want to see how long it takes his party to wipe.

Pros of stacking:
No skill is needed
Of course stacking doesn’t require skill. It’s just standing on top of each other. What does require skill however is beating the encounter which you are employing stacking for. It’s a technique. Just because players are stacked doesn’t mean the mobs will not use their attacks, stacking actually makes it more dangerous to get hit because a single AoE can hit all 5 people in the stack, like Risen Illusionists and Mages in Arah. There are more reasons, but this is what I can offer right now.
Cons of stacking:
less fun and enjoyment of game.
This is subjective, see below. Also, I absolutely detest slow runs.
No reason to even play the game if the main goal is to rush through it
What is the reason we play games for? Fun. We have fun in our own ways, if it is not fun for you, it’s not our problem. You can go and run in groups without stacking too, but I believe the general consensus is that no stack groups actually cause more grief in their participants than stacking groups because of the higher chances of wiping. ArenaNet did not set down any goals for us players when they created this game, the goal of rushing through dungeons was created by speedclearers who wanted to test their mettle against what the devs had created. It’s just a time trial.
A lack of skill
See above.
You could also try a game called WoW I hear that all you do is push buttons in that game too.
I heard it was a MMO, not a piano.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Pros of stacking
- It bunches up the whole team, so boon sharing is guaranteed, this is especially important for guardians who need to apply Aegis to the whole team
- Smart use of line of sight pathing allows a coordinated team to bunch up a group of mobs that would otherwise take too long to kill individually, since cleave autoattacks basically deal ~3x the damage they normally would do (3 targets, so 3x damage)
- If someone goes down, the rest of the team can quickly pick him up
- Stacking maximises the potential of certain skills, eg. Whirlwind Attack, Fiery Rush, etc.
Cons of stacking
- Because the whole party is bunched up and in one spot, they are highly susceptible to cleaves and AoEs on the spot
Yeah, that’s about it, I think. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
You also mentioned the Spider Queen in AC and how stacking negates her attack. You are quite wrong that it is stacking itself that negates the poison AoE. The queen will use her poison AoE if and ONLY if her target is not in melee range. As long as her target is in melee, the rest of the party can safely range (cough cough)provided they do not attract her attention. This might seem like it needs a tank, but no you don’t, given the absence of a trinity it means damage always wins out, but that’s another topic the other regulars can fill you in on.
If you really believe MMOs should be slow, try something like RuneScape, I’m pretty sure it’s slow enough, and even there people will always be finding the fastest way as well. We will play how we want. Our interest is in faster, more efficient runs, not roleplaying and screaming “I have slain this vicious beast!”, or something like that.
Quoting from the other thread about stacking:
A while back someone in this forum made a “Kill All Monsters” guild that was about this very same thing. Nobody joined and the guild died of inactivity.
What happens is a lot of carebears talk a good game about wanting no stacking, anything goes runs but when faced with the reality of a 1 hour AC path 1, they don’t show up. So really think about what you are asking for, and if you are really committed to the concept enough to keep such a guild alive.

“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
If you want to roll a guardian, you can, but you must know when to blind and give Aegis. In speedclear groups you will usually burn through the mobs extremely fast, but in the event you don’t this is where the guardian comes in to cover the party as they try to burn through the mobs. By covering the party I don’t mean using carebear clerics or pvt gear, I mean by negating attacks with blinds and group Aegis. A guardian is all about proactive defense by taking the fight to a foe, and to that end you are capable of outputting an impressive amount of damage, which under certain conditions can possibly beat out a warrior’s DPS (I need some clarification on this myself). :D
The picture below sums up what I see Lilith as.
PS: I’m a slow typer on an iPad. :(
PPS: I also forgot to mention you have great group condition removals as a guardian.

1. Level 19, a full berzerker guard knows what to do and the run was smoothly. Level 29, the same guard was re-invited. At Mossman, he proceeded to RANGE the boss from his own safe spot when everyone tried to convince him to melee and become helpful. His reason: ‘I don’t melee in a pug’. The jerk even had the gut to mock us who effectively carried him through Mossman and Urban Battleground by melee-ing almost all the things.
kitten Iris, you’re vicious today. I like that.
I’ll complete the story for you.
That guardian was promptly expelled at the third fractal, and I was called in to replace him. I brought an ele, everything went pretty smoothly because I’m not a ranging pug. The icing on the cake? I got an ascended weapon chest for 2 fractals’ worth of work.

“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Banning the “wrong” people because they are on your friendlist ? Thats pretty sad trying to defend people who ruin the game for the others . An exploiter could buy all dusks from TP , resell for the price he wants and blow up the market.
What is your problem, seriously?
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
They’re banning sellers who exploit (like the underwater lupi skip), not legitimate sellers. The problem is that they’re on a power trip and banning the wrong people in the process.

I sympathise, I also have a glass guardian, and I do strongly agree something needs to be done with this massive time sink of a fractal. I’m sure I’m not the only one who groans whenever my party rolls this.

You realize I am speaking from a game play and functionality context. I am not being rude to you at all. You are dismissing a valid functionality/game play issue with lore/flavor. You are adding things that have never been stated as reasons, for the sole purpose of excusing the oversight/issue. I could say that you are being rude in that regard. Think about where I’m standing. Your initial response about blind could be interpreted as sarcastic (in fact I did interpret it as sarcastic or an attempt to seem clever). Especially how you managed to ignore the entire post I responded to and only focused on giving a lore/flavor excuse as to why blinds were excluded. I could respond with a “way to go” statement, but I will not.
Alright, I apologise, but allow me to explain my reasoning that I should have made clearer to begin with.
You see, from a in-universe perspective, it’s understood that dredge cannot see to begin with and that they rely on hearing. Meshing this fact into actual gameplay, dredge are consequently immune to blind. Game design is not all about making mechanics – it’s also about meshing these mechanics with existing lore and stuff, it has to look sensible. Dredge rely on being able to hear their enemies, and I could give a multitude of reasons why just shouting into their ears is ineffective.
On another note, the dredge that are a pain make themselves incredibly durable and use multi-hitting attacks so frequently that a guardian’s blinds would be ineffective anyway. Considering the big picture – the two classes that have pulsed stealth, thieves and necros – necros are unpopular choices and don’t bring much support, while thieves are brought into this specific fractal for stealth. As it is right now sneaking past them is easier than blinding dredge and mass murdering them until ANet decides to cut the number of dredge that show up at the bombs and clown car, which brings us back to the reason why this thread exists.

Oh, you want more flavour answers?
Explain how mass invis works then….
MI is a veil, and considering a mesmer employs magic that affects your senses, I don’t think it’s hard to extend this capability to exclude hearing as well.
Btw, who says players using blind aren’t being quiet?
Do you see with your ears or what?
Do you hear with your hands? That doesn’t even make any sense. You are just making up excuses for what is clearly a flavor excuse to begin with. Guardians use magic too. How is a mesmer’s magic somehow better or worse for the intended purpose than a guardian’s? Just stop it and admit that the excuse for stealth versus blind versus invis/veil is a weak excuse. Stop trying to stretch/extend something to be what it was never even stated to be.
You realise that I speak from an immersion and lore context, right? Before you start being so rude to me, think about where I’m standing. Your tone was very uncalled for.
I gave you an answer why dredge are immune to blind, and I get a sarcastic response. Way to go.
