Ascended materials conversion has been suggested many-many times because different people prefer doing different content and would be happy to convert them even at a discriminating exchange rate. I for one am drowning in dragonite but have very little empyreal.

Before you get a title for that, Legendary Collector needs to give a title.. e_e Yay! I get 5 AP for collecting 5 legendary weapons!

Though off-topic, I’m pretty sure there are enough people who would throw money at ANet to get another couple of legendaries for that title.

Or sth like “Champion RNG”

Or “RNG Tamer”.

There is no such thing as enough titles! Especially since we already get “Finders Keepers” and such.

My suggestion: “Luckrative”.
But "Magic Finder” is ok too.
Or “Fate’s Favourite”/“Fortune’s Favourite”.

If you’re good at making websites, you should make this with a meme generator.

I know I can and I have a similar meme generator script on one of my projects. However it will take time (quite a lot of and far more than compiling those templates) to recode it for new images, fonts, different line-breaking, auto-sizing etc. and then to put onto an appropriate site, while I have a quaggan who’s begging for groff grass a fanbase who’s already really mad at me for not updating my main projects for a long time ^^’

I know some meme generators ask you to simply type text and associate with the meme you want, and it comes out seconds later with the image and text. Much easier.

But they also live off tons of ads, obtrusive logos and mass-stealing of meme images from each other ^^

Download templates:

  • .psd files used by Adobe Photoshop and hopefully GlMP
  • or less customizable but more common .png files.

Download font. Needs no license for personal use. To install a font on Windows, go to C:\Windows\Fonts and paste/drag the font file there.

Forum tip: if you want to attach several images to a single post, attach the 1st one and then click Preview to get one more attachment field at the next step.

Not sure whether this topic should stay here or go to Fan-generated content, but since it’s pretty general and GW2 Jokes are also here, I’m putting it where it is.

Some servers no longer doing TM

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TM = Twisted Marionette
The reason is that it is yesterdays news. The story moved on and so has the people.

Nope, the problem is that people are LAZY. I’ve been running a world boss train yesterday and suggested going to Marionette. Wrote it at Ulgoth, at Caledon Wurm and at Shatterer, but people simply moved on to Megadestroyer (yeah, that long and boring boss with poor loot) while we didn’t even get enough people to fill the lanes. Reason? Simply standing there and hitting 1 is more “fun” for many people than doing something challenging.

Could not reproduce (tested in PvP area).

Well as of about 20mins ago I cant get Decoy or Mirror Image skills to function..

yep decoy has been buggy for a while. very often i wont get a clone.

AFAIK the only scenario when Decoy will not generate a clone is when there is no targetable mobs/players in the vicinity. The same thing happens with spear 2. Can you still reproduce it? There’ve been some DC’s and lags because of a DDoS attack on many game servers including GW2’s.

Added to that mobs are still targeting my Mesmer when stealthed..

Some more info on this? Can you still reproduce it?

Yep. Seems to be unusable on the majority of the terrain in EotM :-(

Yeah, that drives me crazy. I don’t even understand how people manage to play in PvP with such reliability… It even looks like a bug-nerf – “Let’s brake it and not fix it because it’s too OP!” Same as Warden (and the fortunately fixed exploding illusions).

  • tell us in short why a specific bug is seriously affecting your gameplay (thus bumping the thread)

But please:

  • try to keep calm when commenting on bugs

Fire Shaman HP Reset: Mystery Solved

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Agreed. If that area had any kind of visualization (fiery terrain, fire sparkles, bonfires, stone circle, fiery shield, black puddle), it would make sense. It looks like it was to be programmed but then got released with the visuals missing.

It doesn’t matter if there are visual if the NPCs can trigger it. There should never be a situation where you have to try to murder your NPC “allies” to get things done.

I was talking about the invisible area, not the NPC thing. NPC triggering is bad design, but NPCs usually stick to players there as far as I remember so they wouldn’t trigger the reset unless someone attacks the shaman or comes near him and an NPC tries to “help”.

It can take 3-4 times as long if someone trolls it….and they do.

Or indefinitely long, unless ANet made it foolproof and added a cap to triggers (which I doubt).

Annoying Sound Bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

Relistened the youtube file (with eyes closed :p). Sounded like a fireworks sound to me – either from consumables, boxes of fun or guild rushes… May it be a sound which is actually being played somewhere in the map but due to a bug does not have its parameters set to a correct channel and plays for the whole map as its sound culling is bugged or even reversed? If so, does it play in, say, your home instance?

I’ve had just as many people reporting the issue, as those that have no idea what I’m talking about.

I’m not doubting your words, just providing feedback ^^

It’s definitely not an intentional background process sound notification, because it ignores all volume settings aside from system (including GW2’s ingame volume slider. It still happens when master volume is set to 0) – not to mention it also never happens in other games or applications.

Does it play when master volume is set to 0 and GW2 is set to mute sounds when minimized and GW2 is minimized?

If it doesn’t, that might be some sort of common background application conflicting with (specifically) GW2; if it does, then well, it must be terribly bugged as to ignore even the global mute (unless it simply zeros the master channel).

Either way, it’s weird why some people hear it and some don’t. It makes me think there should be a connection between the bug and software, but then people have tested it on different setups. It leaves either specific user settings combinations in options which people carry from machine to machine or… ehm… an item in inventory/on hero with an inherited bugged sound effect… Like, maybe, a box of fun which plays a sound of fireworks for a player which has the item instead of the player which triggered it on the other side of the map…

  • you craft an ascended inscription of the desirable stat;
  • you forge an Ascended Versatilizer in the Mystic Forge using bloodstone, dragonite, empyreal (preferably unrefined) and globs of dark matter or skillpoint-heavy material from Miyani (like eldritch scroll or bloodstone shard);
  • you “transmute” the inscription to the weapon in the same way you transmute items.

Fire Shaman HP Reset: Mystery Solved

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

After about an hour of testing popular theories (running over the lines and hitting shaman), I can now tell the community that HP reset is not caused by either of these things. I’ve primarily tested this during phase 2, but I’m pretty sure there should be no variations.

According to my observations, shaman’s HP resets when someone touches the invisible circle in the middle of the area, somewhat around where the large fire elemental appears and maybe a bit shifted towards the shaman: attachment 1 At some moment a NPC actually gives a hint and says “Keep to the minions!”

Triggering a reset by touching the area: attachment 2

Fire elemental area from different angles after being triggered by touching the area: attachment 3

So, the best strategy seems to be staying in the corner where the NPCs usually stand and not coming near the shaman as you may drag the NPCs with you and cause a reset (mesmer illusions and necro minions didn’t trigger the reset, ranger pets not tested but shouldn’t).

[Solved] Weird illusion visual/animation bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Lishtenbird.2814

I’ve seen this model appearing for illusions for a moment some times before it switches to my model. As it seems to be a “default” model for mesmers (or all light-armor classes), it may be something to do with the amount of highly detailed character models which you can set in Options. If you have too many models at the same time on screen, that option allows you to improve performance by sacrificing the looks of players and illusions (the latter supposedly have the lowest priority).

Just something to consider – if we truly want Anet to take this list seriously then it’s important to only include actual profession bugs and not design decisions that people just don’t like.

That’s what I’m mostly trying to do. The “bugs” that might doubt game decisions are 5 and 8, the bugs that might be game-wide are 6 and 9; there aren’t too much of them and, well, they’re still bugs from a certain point of view.

with “give us a proper blast skill” coming as a close second.

I’d be happy to see it on Mind Stab, but that’s outside of the topic of this thread.

I’ve noticed that recently The Prestige (torch 4) went from “sometimes blasting the field” to “never blasting the field”. I have not been able to get that skill to ever trigger a blast combo since the latest update. And yes, I know the blast is on re-appear. We call our static fields in advance to help mesmers time their blasts.

Couldn’t reproduce. Tested, blasted.

Minus Stats: Alternate Way of Nerfing Zerker

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

This is purely speculation.

Based on what I read and heard here and there from dev sources. Celestial, trinkets etc.

The user of full berserker gear is going to have the same vitality and toughness after the conversion of Crit % to Ferocity as he does before.

With the planned changes, yes. I might not have worded it clear enough, though I meant if.

In general though, having negative stats usually means the system is broken.

All gear already has this. Just move the baseline and you have negative of whatever other stats isn’t provided by the prefix.

Pretty much this. They’re fixing it because it’s broken, but to fix the concept of true zerg, they would need to move the base stats and add vit/toughness to all the other gear sets. And we all now what will happen if they announce “nerfing of health pool”, even if all other gear buffs result in the exact same digits.

That is just strait false. I have way more survivability with my full zerker Guardian or full zerker Mesmer. Ya the Warrior have defensive stats that the other (Heavy armor and high vitality), but that all. The guardian have better healing, access to numerous block/invulnerability and defensive boons, without sacrificing any DPS. And the Mesmer’s illusion give a huge advantage in survivability. With the Warrior you kill or you’ll be kill. Once your endurance is empty and you use your Whirlwind then you are screw. Nobody care if you are in a good group, but if the group fail, then you better be a good Warrior player to survive in rough situation (if you want to stay full zerker). The better stats give a starting advantage for the warrior. Usually a big enough advantage to survive long enough to melt your enemies. But in the long run, if thinks don’t go well, the warrior could have some difficulties.

If it was straight false, we wouldn’t be seeing all those “War Zerk only” or “4 War Zerk, 1 Guard” in LFG (I’ve never seen an LFG for 5 mesmers though). It means it’s true to an extent – more true for PvE, less true for PvP. Our heroes start in PvE environment, and many (if not most, especially the main TA of the game – casual) players are interested only in PvE, so the “balance” of PvE can be generally considered as a benchmark.

the reason critical damage is being nerfed is because it doesn’t scale linearly. a little bit doesn’t help much, a lot helps more than it should – meaning if you put those same stats into toughness, it wouldn’t offset the extra damage from criticals.
ferocity will be linear – a set amount added to your base damage, rather than a multiplier.

True. But their current way of fixing scaling will mean a 10% nerf of builds which were available for testing and balancing since long ago and thus were meant to be in game, and with no option to go true-zerg anymore, it feels more of a “brute-nerf” than “balancing”.

…said a glasscannon zerker warrior with largest health pool in heaviest armor

You seem to forget that Zerker gear isn’t exclusive to just Warriors, in fact, some classes have to take Zerker gear just to be efficient or on par with Warriors, lowering them makes em even squishier than others. Warriors would be the least hurt by that change.

No, that was the point of my comment. The concept of damage “efficiency” comes from comparing the amount of damage dealt by other players to your damage; with zerker warrior being the top DPS class with more innate survivability than other classes, anything that is lower than this in both damage and HP is considered (and, well, often is) less efficient. And we get this mindset as a result:

Or..you know..buff other stats..make them worthwhile..

But here we’re already touching class balance and PvE laws which make condition damage (which is often supposed to be an advantage of light classes) mostly useless. With the planned nerf of direct damage, condition (and utility) users will get the exact same “buff”, but it will be relative instead of absolute.

On the other hand, my suggestion shifts this nerf-buff relativity to the field of further build diversity. Let’s take a look at these comments:

No thanks. Would be fairly amusing having about 8hp on my zerk guard though.

Yes, because a glass cannon guard already has soooooo much health.

I believe people are missing a certain aspect of my idea here. Let me put in (hypothetical) digits now:

  • Currently, your guard in Berserker only has 10k health. Your hypothetical Skill A deals 5000 damage.
  • (A-1) Post-patch (planned), your guard in Berserker only has 10k health. Your hypothetical Skill A deals 4500 damage.
  • (A-2) Post-patch (planned), your guard in Berserker+Valkyrie+Knight has 12k health. Your hypothetical Skill A deals 4000 damage.
  • (B-1) Post-patch (suggested), your guard in Berserker only has 8k health. Your hypothetical Skill A deals 5000 damage.
  • (B-2) Post-patch (suggested), your guard in Berserker+Valkyrie+Knight has 10k health. Your hypothetical Skill A deals 4500 damage.

Now, as you can see, options A-1 and B-2 result in exactly the same digits. However!

The planned nerf is a nerf-without-options which simply extends the time needed to kill things and to do speedruns; the suggested nerf is a nerf-with-options which leaves space to build diversity.

So, with the suggested nerf, you actually get the choice to stay exactly the same glasscanon build, but with slightly different gear, OR start to seriously risk your life and bloodlust charges to deliver the highest DPS available.

So, the only problem I see with this solution is that most experienced players have already crafted their Zojja’s ascended gear and would not be happy to recraft it; the solution here is to let people switch stats of stat sets which get affected.

One downside to the OP’s idea is that it will not only affect Berserker gear. Once you introduce “negative stats,” you’ll have to put them on all gear sets, not just the set under discussion. Those other sets, that many believe already under-perform, will get worse.

AFAIK, they are already reworking stats on many sets for introduction of Ferocity. Actually, just having Ferocity affect defense (vitality+toughness) directly via a quirky formula would somewhat already do the thing, but such a way of implementing it would be very non-representative and confusing.

This is a dumb idea. Zerkers will be even more glasscannon and not worth playing at all.

…said a glasscannon zerker warrior with largest health pool in heaviest armor

It’s not the stats that is the problem, it’s the AI and how the monsters move and use their skills.

With AI as a constant and DPS-wise, lowing the health of berserker’s gear to force people into a variety of safer gear means is identical to nerfing critical damage.

Doing something like that with stats would make it unplayable. Zerker is not so good in PvP unless you are very skilled.

But, you know, that’s EXACTLY the point of zerker’s gear! If you don’t feel safe with it, switch to a safer gear. Berserker’s should be a marginal case for pro players, and not a universal choice for anyone.

Having read some discussions on the upcoming 10% nerfing of berserker’s gear, I’ve come up with a following idea:

  • keep the overall damage close to the way it is now (ferocity may be introduced regardless);
  • introduce negative survivability stats to purely offensive gear.

So, for example a Zojja’s Coat would have stats similar to:

  • +106 Power
  • +76 Precision
  • +5% critical damage
  • - 38 vitality
  • - 38 toughness

This is a rough sketch of an idea and it doesn’t have a finished solution to other gear sets. However:

  • This concept ideally describes the spirit of being a berserker: trading survivability for pure damage.
  • It also addresses the main issue of the game which resulted in the dominance of zerker in PvE – the fact that it is fairly easy to survive even without investing in vitality/toughness at all.
  • It will leave the full damage potential available to everyone who is still willing to risk a lot.

You made a hotfix for mesmer’s illusions but since more than one year, Rangers and Sylvaris have the same problem with vines.

That was easy to fix because they just broke it (and on the other hand, they also broke Warden recently but never fixed it).

7. Portal Entre/Exeunt.
Has no range indicator. Impossible to tell whether it is in range or not.

This is easy. The distance is 10 seconds straight line running if you have 25% speed buff. may be 11 or 12 seconds if no speed buff. 9 seconds if you have 33% speed buff. Yes, i have tested this with my mesmer.

Yeah, when driving around the town, It’s easy to tell how much fuel I’ve got left by driving in a straight line at constant speed and counting blocks. So why did they even bother inventing a fuel gauge?

And good luck running in a straight line and constant speed in Swamp fractal and dungeons I’m not saying it can’t be done, but it’s purely wrong to take a workaround for a solution.

You may want to keep a text copy of the first few posts so when the anet’s Ministry of Truth…

I (always) do

On topic, regarding point 5, if you target a thief and summon a phantasm, then the thief stealths with a long duration stealth, the phantasm often changes target. This means you accidentally aggro nearby mobs…

It’s a general design error which makes clones and phantasms to AI-dependent. I’m strongly inclined to think that illusions should permanently stick to either a) the target they were cast on or b) always the player’s current target. Mesmers are mages who control their illusions which unlike pets and minions have no mind of their own, and logically it makes absolutely no sense for illusions to attack a random moa or a nearby white raccoon. The only reason why they do it is IMO the flawed decision of programming them before even thinking of what they are in the world of GW2.

I know there are a lot more, but am at work atm so cannot verify.

It would be nice if you could check and confirm the Illusionary Elasticity and Illusionary Celerity bugs when you are free. Also, could you please give me a bit more details on Decoy and Mimic buggy behaviour?

Its totalyl irrelevant, how they lose their targets, be it through stealth, or through killign the opponnent.
Both in fact just is the exact same thing to trigger the disappearing of the clone.

No it’s NOT. An illusion is created by mesmer’s mind – it is the basic of it’s mechanic. If a target stealths, the mesmer knows it went into stealth and not simply died. Why would a mesmer destroy his illusions? It makes no sense at all.

Obviously a bug .. no patchnotes and it would just be silly…

Seeing other game-breaking issues already commented on, this might as well be a “Let’s try to stealth-nerf it and see if we can make it slide!”

Agreed, might have been my omission. But: they also wanted to “report bugs in their own individual threads”. And making 14 threads there would be completely pointless as we already have hundreds of threads about several year old issues that got lost in the abyss.

Maybe create a fresh thread we can all get behind in the bug forum?

I think we could wait for mods at this moment. Someone from ANet would eventually see the thread and either move it to the Bugs subforum, state that it’s okay where it is or lock it down and ask to recreate one there (though it would be more efficient to simply move it).

Just as an FYI, we used to have a stickied bug report thread, but it was removed a while back because they apparently want all bug reports to go to the bug subforum.

I hope they just move this thread to the Bugs subforum then if they consider it better instead of removing it completely (: But a whole thread of mesmer bugs in Bugs subforum which would likely get bumped a lot? Let the mods decide then.

Also, I think casting an illusion on an out of range or obstructed target shouldn’t go on full cool-down, I think it should go on the same 4 cool-down as when you get interrupted.

How does it work for other classes with ranged attacks? If it’s the same full cooldown, than a change won’t be fair. If it’s not – then yes, the interrupt cooldown was what I always thought was right for an out-of-range attack. On the side note, why can we even start casting at all if the target is out of range? Is it “real world logic”?
